Shame I can't recycle my Neg to give you another one.

Good price. I usually love their styling but this looks a little weird.

    Thanks OP. Goodbye cardboard box.

Good KK present - thanks OP!

Kmart have something similar that is arguably much nicer looking:

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/30l-modular-flip-top-bin-43…

There’s some other ones that fit on top of the fixed half… this I think.

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/12l-rectangular-fliptop-bin…

    Total cost $25

    • IKEA also has something similar that is arguably much nicer than the Kmart one:

      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/cat/hallbar-series-47255/

The HÅLLBAR is functionally great, but the Joseph Joseph one looks a lot better than both this IKEA and Kmart option.

      • We have a Hallbar one in a pull out base so it doesn’t matter what it looks like. The flap that holds itself up is a great option when scraping plates.

  • Same price on eBay as well, in case you have gift card or so.

Collector holds up to twice as much crushable waste as a similar-sized bin

Struggling to understand this, please help

    • Marketing.

But I suppose because you have to put the recycled object through a slot you get more in if you didn’t have a slot.

    • Me too I don’t get this at all.

    • +1

If it’s not marketing babble, then it must have a spacetime distortion device built in to give it more space inside. But would time go slower or faster inside? That would affect the rotting speed of your empty milk bottles in there. Then hopefully it has a smell neutraliser.

IKEA has a great stackable system, been using it for years and has worked great for us.

    IKEA Sortera

    • +1

yeah two of these is our current recycling system

edit: if i had to nitpick, the lids on these are a bit finicky and a bit difficult to clean…in my opinion. And it's not comfortable to carry when laden - the edges dig into my fingers

"Not suitable for use with glass", proceeds to show images of glass bottles inside.

Unrelated note - for the first time ever on OzB, the Medibank ad running along the right side of this page just started auto-playing audio.

    Not impressed.

    • Do you have ads enabled on your account on purpose?

      • can they be turned off completely? I know when i'm logged in the ad strip at top of page disappears

        • Yep just go to my account, settings and select no ads under the section "banner ads"
I have never had ads since mine was this setting by default (just assumed that ozbargain was amazingly ad-free).

Some people leave ads so that ozbargain gets more income.

          • +1

@Embaloo: yeah tbh I don't mind/pay attention to the ads most of the time. Just today's sudden random audio was annoying

    • Install uBlock Origin plugin/extension for your browser (if desktop). Your life will be much better.

      • does that screw with cashrewards et al?

        • Have a separate vanilla/virgin browser just for purchasing/cashback. That's what I do. That browser is also excluded from my VPN.

Whenever I need to use cashback I use that browser. If I know a site doesn't like VPNs, adblockers or whatever, I'll use that browser.

Cheers OP. Will replace this with my Kmart bin that has seen better days.

Get the Ad Nauseam extension. Not seen any ads on here for years. It has the advantage that it costs advertisers as they think you've clicked on the ad, so the site gets revenue too. It messes up your advertising "profile" by virtually clicking on every ad that appears on a page, making you pointless to target.

      • +1

Think you meant to reply to the guy above this but cheers, sounds like a great extension

        • +1

Oops, yes I did, thanks. It is a great extension and I love the idea of giving advertisers junk data.

      • 😂 I see you replied to the guy above. This sounds interesting, would you not end up with a dumpster load full of cookies? Probably better to not download the ads in the first place.

Ads are a known vector of delivery for malware. Keeping it away with a long pole where possible is the best idea IMO. I do however love the idea of fscking up advertisers data.

        • +1

Ad Nauseam blocks the cookies of the adverts it clicks. The malware aspect of it was a concern for me at first too, but the way it handles it is (as far as I understand it) pretty much one way traffic - they send the virtual interactions but drop everything that comes back. There's more info on the guts of it here - https://ceur-ws.org/Vol-1873/IWPE17_paper_23.pdf

I just use a big open box to throw all my recyclables into

Do we really need this product? lol

    • So do we. But it’s a pretty raggy, ugly box now. This is just another nice way to separate you from your money.

  • Out of stock :(
"Sorry, we do not have enough "Joseph Joseph - GoRecycle 46Ltr Recycling 32Ltr Collector and 14Ltr Caddy Bin set Blue" in stock to fulfill your order (0 available)."

  • Mine arrived with the bottom bin lid missing. Anyone else had any problems?

    • Hey Skatez, the cardboard at the bottom of the box can be removed and there's your lid.

      • Haha yeah I actually called the company and they said heaps of people had emailed them saying the same thing. Still felt like a dumbass tho. Thanks vSchweetz that was v Schweet of you 🤙 ☺️
