  • Great deal! I was able to order the items delivery

  • +2

Can't imagine that it would last very long

    • +4

Should last some years if taken care of and maintaned. Even the really expensive ones would end up

getting corroded/rusty if left out in the elements and not cleaned often. Pretty good deal for people to try

out and see if it's really their thing. I imagine a lot of those $300-$600 pizza ovens gifted for Christmas will be

morie dle than not after summer.

  • Does anyone know what temp they get up to?

    • +1

the temp gauge ends at 430'C so probably that

      • That's off the scales lol.

      • +1

Would be lucky for this to get to even half of that

        • In that case it's kinda useless isn't it for pizza??

  • Is this worth it ?

    • +5

People pay $120 for the pizza boxes that sit on top of barbecues and barely get hot enough to boil water

      So, yes

      • You obviously havent tried one those boxes work very well.

    • Do you like pizza?

  • +12

Do a search on ozb, people say to avoid it, you want gas driven not pellet

    • +2

Yeah I read those before this deal was posted. Deal popped up in my feeds and didn't think it was worth posting after researching.

    • -1

But if you want the wood oven flavour, dont use gas. People pay hundreds for the Ooni. Seems like a no brainer to me.
Only weird thing to me is that the temp gauge is after the flue. But at least the flue is near the front, unlike the Jackaroo/ Aldi version which has the flue in the middle..which is rubbish.

      • +10

Not much wood flavour, if any, is transferred to the pizza from these. Just because some/many people have money to burn doesn't make their choice of product to spend it on better than any other product. It's all marketing and keeping up appearances…

          • -1

@Koppeldread: Ooohweee, after playing with a few diff ovens and deep diving, must say I am embarrassed for you Koppeldread. Don't think anyone here needs to spend any more time on you, but I enjoyed your banter and cute assumptions - every opinion is valid right? But in addition to having no idea, here your attitude is also just .. meh

            • @Yamun121: Why doesn't this do a very good job of getting a smokey flavour in there? I'm not very knowledgeable about pizza ovens.

              • +3

@Charmoffensive: Sorry don't know this models qualities, but I think initial commenter was discussing short cook times may limit the smokey/wood flavour gained from wood pellet

              • @Koppeldread: He'll get a wood fired pizza?

              • +3

@Koppeldread: Stop looking for a fight, and being rude, the initial guy simply had an opinion about whatever smoke flavour. Right or wrong, if being called out for being mean makes you want violence, again I am embarrassed for you

              • +4
          • +2

@Koppeldread: Bags not go to a pizza party at Koppeldread’s place.

        • +3

I think you're suppose to burn wood pellets in it to get the smokey flavour, not money which is a polymer.

      • +9

Sorry the wood flavoir thing is crap for pizzas. They are only in for 1 min, 2 min maybe. Not enough time to have transfer unlike normal smoking.

        • +1

          Don't know.

I think if you gave me two pizzas one gas cooked and one woodfired I could tell you which one is which.

But then again maybe I just eat too much pizza lol

          • @creesy: in these you would struggle to tell, I own 2 smokers & burn pellets & 2 minutes is not long enough to put any smoke flavour into food the way this thing is constructed (the pellets produce heat the smoke goes straight up the chimney). I should add I also own a similar style gas pizza oven

            • +1

@Irishness: Oh I misunderstood I thought it was a blanket statement saying woodfire pizza tastes no different lol

              • +1

@creesy: Honestly I have an Ooni wood fired one and it really isn’t in there long enough to get the flavour. The gas ones that get just as hot taste basically the same and are easier for smashing out large quantities for parties, the wood is more fun though

        • I've made hundreds of pizzas, and will add a +1 to the opinion that woodfired doesn't impart any different flavour compared to gas.

      • +8

Ooni also sell gas versions which are their most popular variety. Ideally you cook the pizzas hot enough that they are only in there for 90 seconds which is not enough time for smoke to impart any flavour. You still end up with burn marks which is where the "smokey" flavour that is associated with wood fire pizza comes from.

    • Yeah how much are pellets? And how much would be used per pizza?

      • -1

Read somewhere you can cook at least a dozen pizzas per large bag of pallets

        • +7

Guess I'll go to the loading dock steal a forklift to grab me some pallets for firewood pizza.

          • @nobro25: Make sure it's pressure treated, adds to the flavor

      • 1 kg of pellets is a good batch of pizzas. You soend more getting it up to speed before you start cooking oizzas remember

      • discusses elsewhere on here but pellets is the most expensive way to cook pizza using this style, gas is far cheaper

  • +2

Thanks got one to click and collect. Even if it is no good it's worth it to try for $65. Will pay for itself in 3 pizzas!

    • Good luck.

If you have any issues with the pellets snuffing out, you could try microwaving them a little bit before hand.

    • Post back your experience! I did add it to cart but I'm thinking the gas ooni given the guy that wasted all his time and didn't have a good experience on 3 occasions!

    • I was very close to grabbing a gas one in the black friday sales for 250 + delivery+ accessories from kegland. This is a no brainer.

      • Gas is cheaper in the long run and you'll probably actually make some edible pizzas with the gas one. But good luck.

        • Yeah true, and better for pumping out more pizzas. I might have already looked into retrofitting gas to it. I mean what could possibly go wrong

    • +1

This is what’s wrong with consumerism. Because it’s cheap even if it’s no good you’ll buy it , instead of spending more on something you know is good quality

      • +1

100%. These pieces of junk will end up in landfill within a year.

  • How much are the pellets?

    • +3

Looks like $20 for 5kg from Bunnings
      Or $35 for 9kg

  • The Kmart website is so frustrating for availabilty.
    Chadstone.

Click & Collect Out of stock
    In-store Out of stock

Select stores nearby and it says Chadstone In Stock….
Plus the local stores are not in distance order. I get Richmond and CBD and not Clayton which is closer.

Would buy if I can get one.

    • +2

      delivery is free?

      • Yes. Shows free delivery over $65 (without OnePass) - free applied at checkout

      • Thanks for that. Just on the limit for free….

Doesn't fix the website issues. Problem for another day.

  • What feeds the pellets and how do you light it?

    • +1

you feed the pellets , they are not self-feeding pellets, you have to put them in yourself

  • who are these people that buy these ovens. how often do you guys make pizza that you can justify having one?

    • +2

I feel like these (or bbq smokers) are the outdoor dining area equivalent of the breadmaker craze in the early 2000s. A great idea and exciting to use for a while but then you get put off by the amount of work required to get a good-to-decent end result and most give up, with the appliance ending up an expensive paperweight.

    • +1

I used to use my master pro electric oven weekly.

Make the dough in advance and you have a pretty quick way to churn out a few pizzas on the fly

    • Hmm i had an og ooni. It is a good experience doing it, just like bbq. The prep time is a killer so you find shortcuts (predone dough base)

    • +5

      I have one.
      I really enjoy making pizza.
I have a 12 inch gas ooni. It was expensive, though worth it to me.
You can't make neapolitan style pizza without something like an ooni
You can make something that's okish with a normal oven and a stone / steel
for most people that eat pizza occasionally, and aren't going to go to the effort of doing things like cold fermenting and using specific hydration / ratio doughs, there's probably little point buying one.

i would not buy a wood / pellet powered pizza oven.

    • +1

I use my gas one fortnightly & for parties, I make Neapolitan pizza which if I was to order from a local takeaway would be $20-25 per pizza, I probably make a pizza for less than $2 and have no doubt I already made my money back on the cost of the oven

      • +1

        I’m in your boat.

    • I use my roccbox every week

  • +5

For 65 smackeroos, why the (profanity) not. Who knows, we might make classic pizzas with the damn thing and if not, no biggie.

  • Got free delivery so even better. Thanks OP.

    • FREE delivery over $65 (without OnePass) - was free at checkout

  • got it will post the result this wknd LOL

    • lol

  • +1

Thanks OP got 1 to try free delivery but then again you never know if it will turn up buying from Kmart

    • Received shipment notification from Kmart today

  • +2

    Good lord it’s a tardis

    Product dimensions: 55.5cm (H) x 25.5cm (W) x 23.5cm (D)
    Pizza stone: 30.48cm (Dia.) / 12-inch (Dia.)

Somehow the internal dimensions are larger than the external

    • I love the idea of it shipping with a pizza stone that doesn't fit

  • Currently looking after a family's gozney dome, going for the first run tomorrow. Definitely the most over the top cooking apparatus I've ever had access to.

  • +4

As an alternative, get the gas jumbuck pizza oven for $200. Comes with accessories and the pizzas I've made are decent imo https://imgur.com/a/MkJtlVQ

    • +1

+1 on this. We picked one up recently and it is surprisingly well made and the pizzas turn out amazing. Our daughter is dairy allergic so this is our only way to enjoy this type of pizza. Even has its own Facebook community

    • I’m thinking of getting one.. do you prep your own base or buy it??

Also is it easy to turn the pizza midway?

      • I prep myself. I don't think you can get the same results from bought, and the ones in the pictures are sourdough. Get yourself some good high protein flour like Caputo, or Defiance from woolies is fine for me. I bought an extra 8 inch turning peel from Amazon for like $30 which has made it much easier

    • Jumbuck is the way to go for a cheap pizza oven option

  • +2

I'm struggling to see how it gets to high temp, I have a pellet smoker bbq and it needs forced air to ignite and keep pellets firing and regulate the temperature. I can't see how this one does that. Maybe why it's so cheap.

  • Looks like fun for $65, but sold out just now when I checked. If it is capable of getting up 400oC+ it would probably do a pretty good job. I have a gozney and the results from that are great.

  • Ordered one for delivery - if it shows up, what pallets do you like boys? Hardwood Pellets 15kg for $13.45 at Mitre 10 sounds like a nasty but I don't know. Hickory or Apply for $31/8kg

What else do you cook in your pizza oven? Focaccia, sure, but do you do meats?

    • +1

no meats but turkish bread, naan, flat breads & anything that can take high temps for a fast cook in a small space

  • Does this Pizza Oven come complete with some pellets ?

    • +1

      no

      • Thanks that's a shame

  • Picked mine up yesterday. Also grabbed a bag of pellets from Bunnings. For some reason I thought it came with a peel, so back to Bunnings I go today.

Going to fire it up tonight. Got the dough on the go this morning.

    • +2

Review of first cook: it's official - pellets are a pain in the arse! I had a test fire in the arvo to get a feel for it. Just using pellets I needed to use a few sticks to start the fire then started adding pellets. Got it close to 300degC briefly. Thought I was close, but when I went to Bunnings I bought some bbq heat beads, fire starters and a peel.

Much easier to start with a few beads, starter and pellets. Got it up to around 350 and thought I'm nearly ready to go. The stone wasn't up to temp, only at around 200. Pushed out a couple of pizzas which looked ok, just the base wasn't that cooked. The temp keeps dropping out so I crank the fire up. So much that flames are coming out the chimney. Finally got it up to 400. Stone was over 300 and the last pizza was much better. Still a struggle to keep the fire going at that level for long enough. Temp drops very fast when it's out of fuel.

Did some mini Nutella pizzas at the end with strawberries. Got a bit better cranking it up before getting the pizzas in. They were a hit with the kids, turned out really well.

Best tip is get that fire going like there's no tomorrow. keep feeding it because it'll drop temp fast. Will have another go in a week or two.

      • Thanks for the review looks like I got a job ahead of me when I receive mine

      • Glad mine got cancelled then. I might get that gas Jumbuck one from B.

        • +1

bang for buck the Jumbuck is the way to go

      • Damn I can’t be bothered now. Mine hasn’t shipped, is there any way to cancel?

  • Order cancelled: No stock.

  • Damn it’s been shipped with couriers please. No updates since Monday. Guess I’ll see it in 2032. Rip.

    • Mine shipped with Aus Post which was surprisingly quick. Received Y'day

  • Just got a cancellation email…

  • Where can I buy the cheapest large bag of pellets to use with this Wood Pellet Pizza Oven? I noticed Mitre10 had a large bag at a good price but not available.

  • If anyone is still chasing these there are 5 at Kmart top ryde, next to the aroma diffusers.
