Does Jetstar fly widebody Dreamliners to Thailand from Perth or the little single aisle ?

    • +1

Jetstar will use A321LR for the intl flights from Perth, which is much newer, longer and fuel efficient varient of standard and single aisle A320-200.

Too sml and uncomfortable for over 6hrs, the trip from Sydney to Bali is comparible and it’s a nightmare on the virgin and qantas single isles

        • -1

last I remember I found the virgin 737 bali flight more comfortable than the squishy jetstar 787.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Both are 17” wide and 30” pitch and suck but on a wide body there is space to get up and move around and stretch. And more than 2 toilets for 6.5hrs

            • -1

@Capitalshark: yeah I don't have any exact measurements but it was a direct comparison with flight to bali using virgin and jetstar return. the jetstar return trip felt significantly more cramped and uncomfortable than the virgin flight. its what actually made me stick to only virgin flights from then on.

A320 series is better than the 737s on this front (What Qantas and Virgin use). The cabin for the a320 series is 370cm, versus the 737s 354cm which translates to usually 18 inch (45.7cm) wide seat compare to 17 inch (43.2 cm) in the Boeing. In fact the a320 seat have more width than many widebodies.

The only problem with Jetstar is they have slightly less pitch at 28-29 inches compared to 30 inch, but shoulder room is sometime the thing that makes any trip worse if you are too cramped in.

          • @Pcoder: I wonder how the people doing a virgin 737 for 7hrs Cairns to Tokyo went , it seems as these things get more fuel efficient they will put them on longer flights as it’s more economical

            • @Capitalshark: I don't think too many people are singing their praises. The problem with the the 737max is it is domestically configured, so seats are tight and there are not too many lavs for everyone.

To make matters worse i'd imagine since its close to the range limits they probably have to block some seats, so most pax are in a tight aircraft which could be made more comfortable but won't as they don't want to have an oddly configured plane.

        • Too sml and uncomfortable for over 6hrs

The comfort has less to do with the Jet and more that the configuration that the airline chooses. An A321LR configured for Austin Powers would beat any standard airline wide body for comfort….

the trip from Sydney to Bali is comparible

It's not unless it's the same aircraft by the same airline with the same configuration…

          • @1st-Amendment: This is very true as several years ago I was on a Qatar Airways A319 for a 6 hour plus flight from DOH to LHR. Granted it was in an all Business class layout, but it shows you that configuration is one of those things that is sometimes ignored but can make a huge difference.

A better example that I have used as well was the Asiana A321 (I flew in 2015), which had nice wide seats with a large armrest and also had heaps of leg room with well over 32 inches of pitch. I just remember going on the a330 afterwards and noticing how more cramped it was.

Will be on the new A321neos - single isle

Just flew on one to Bali They cram you in tight. Single isle, 3 on each side with a 31" seat pitch.

    Anything for melbourne?

  • I would say $500 return is cheap, but these are cheap. I'm sure by the time you add luggage it's close to $500

Just go carry on only, it's easier than you think.

    • You're sure?

    • +3

I love travelling with light carry on only. Saves so much time & money and rather than waiting for your checked in luggage, you can just march out!

      • Agree. Even on my last couple of flights that included checked luggage I opted to go carry on only. Everything is so much easier.

Scored four tickets return to Phuket for $992. Pretty cheap for family holiday :)

    • What dates mate I'm struggling to find anything

      • Hey that was for the start of September. I jumped on and booked 10 mins after the email was sent out for this. First set of dates I entered had tickets sold by the time I tried to pay so had to select others.

Pretty sure they went pretty quickly :(

  • Is Jetstar website down for anyone? Or is it just me? Trying to search for flights to NZ since morning but keep getting error. Tried various devices too.

$840 for 3 adults Perth-Bangkok return in September.

Happy to see direct flights from Perth-Bangkok start up again.

    • I must have got the leftovers as I pulled the trigger on 3 tickets (including bags and food) for $1500 all in.

      • No bags or food on my booking.

        • Still a very good deal but $840 is a freakin bargain bonanza!

Just a warning that PayID may not be that reliable as a payment option. I had two separately paid tickets cancelled by Jetstar due to non-payment even though I followed the PayID instructions to the letter immediately after booking and confirmed that the two amounts were deducted on my account. I got concerned after not receiving a confirmation email from Jetstar. Jetstar "Customer Service" would not reinstate the booking even after providing them evidence I had paid according to their instruction and was even willing to pay by Credit Card instead. Just a heads up in case you happen to be lucky enough to get one of the last remaining tickets. (Wonker bars comes to mind!). Onya Jetstar!

  • That’s a bargain. Scoot service is bad. Purchased their internet but it did connect and they refused refund. Rotten bastard.

  • Will Perth to Asia/Global flights be staying around and the flights times better then SYD/MEL? This May temp me to move over to Perth lmao

    • May is certainly better weather than June or July.
