usb cable works.. thats what i use

    • +5

      Just BT or use cable

    • +1

It'll connect 3 ways, cable, Bluetooth, or the wireless adapter, which has a very low latency compared to Bluetooth.

Choose what you're happy with/have available.

    • They've worked with Bluetooth for a while but the wireless adaptor is much more reliable.

  • If you're actually playing on Xbox you obviously have no choice, but on pc I've been spoiled by gyro aim and consider any controller without it unusable. (Unfortunately that occurred just after I bought an Xbox Elite controller…)

That Xbox leak suggested a new controller will have gyro but who knows if it really will or when that will release.

Do you get tzatziki with it?

      • Getting condiments on your controller is a p.i.t.a.

Shame that the ps5 controllers are priced so bonkers

      • -1

Where were you when black Friday had the PS5 controller for $70??

        • +1

First party controllers are priced just crazy now IMO, especially when they suffer stick drift. For the asking price they should be using hall effect sticks

    • no choice indeed! go elite

    Robot White is $66 also

I've been procrastinating on these for a good week or so (yea i have problems).

I'm gaming a little on my mac with an 8bitdo pro 2, but tempted to try out an xbox controller for the different layout. The 8bitdo is okay and the D-pad is nice for platformers but thinking this controller may suit other games a bit better, especially PC games running through Crossover or Parallels.

Feels like it's okay at $66 when factoring in buying the USB rechargeable battery pack (another $29). Not so sure I want to swap out AAs all the time

    • +2

Definitely get the rechargeable they chew through batteries if you play often enough

      • +3

Surely for any ozbargainer some eneloops get unboxed to go in, no need for the specific battery pack?

      • I use a 20000mah power Bank with USB cord. Otherwise I'm changing batteries every 2 days 🤦

My LB literally just shit the bed today so timely. Grabbed one.

That is the weakest part of the controller and will break pretty much every time. I have been through three so far on the default controller that came with the series X and each time have just replaced the old one with a new bumper and crossbar section. I got a 20 pack off aliexpress for a dollar a piece a while back. It's an extremely easy repair and I highly recommend buying an electronics screwdriver set and replacement parts as it will serve you very well in the long run. Especially if you also have a switch needing joycon drift addressed seasonally.

      • Yeah looking into it it does seem fairly simple to change the bumpers. Though I don't have the T8 security screwdriver bit you apparently need to get the screws out. But looks like you can get a kit thing with the screwdriver for $10 on Amazon and a replacement bumper for $6 so I'll give it a go.

        • Yeah, mate, an electronics screwdriver kit will serve you well and it will probably feel like a spiritual victory not having to buy another controller.

    • Very easy and cheap repair

    • Lb/RB button fails are common, I've had to fix mine 4 times. Also stick drift is common and rt loud button clicks.

Amazon is price matching The Gamesmen, so if you prefer to support a family owned business

    • Nice I would have put it up if I had saw it when I checking for other prices but it didn't show up in my Google search

    • Prefer to support family owned business- and bought from them after EB games said we will price match brick and mortar businesses with exception to Amazon and The Gamesmen.

  • Do these work with the older gen xboxes?? I have an older S model. No idea what they are called, but the controller is starting to play up.

    • Xbox one S?

    • It should ? I "upgraded" to a Series S/X controller design when they first released….and I was still using an original Xbox One at the time.

And yes I've ordered 6 controllers via the Telstra plus promotion over the last few years as there's nothing else that interests me on their redemption list. Just this month, I opened the very first controller I redeemed from them years ago.

    • Yes.

Source: me, as I own one with an Xbox One S.

    • Yes it does, I've used new controllers on 1st gen xb1

  • Just a reminder for those that have Telstra rewards you can pick one up for 28,200 points, I just ordered one today to use up my points.

These controllers are piss poor quality. I've got two, both little used and look as new. Only used once a week or less for a single player game and when someone comes over to play two player. Both developed bad left analog stick drift. First one within warranty, second out of warranty (second one maybe had 100 hours use). That's two for two, an unacceptable failure rate. I had multiple Xbox 360 controllers during that era and not a single one had a stick drift issue even after 7 years.

I need a second controller now and while I like the ergonomics of this one best, I think I'll have to go with a PS5 or third party.

    • Sucks to hear, I still had my Xbox one controller from when I first bought the Xbox one on release until a week ago when I sold it. No signs of wear and used it quite often although sometimes it would sit unused for 6 months at a time.

      • Xbox one right? The Xbox One controller I had didn't have this issue either now that I think about it. Only the Series S/X controllers are like this.

    • Mind you the person who bought my controller said their controller had stick drift, so I assume they had one of these

    • +1

Yeah my first few controllers were dodgy, either a stuck (or metallic clanging nouse when pressed) face button, or a stuck shoulder or trigger. After a few returns I had some success, I've recently replaced one controller that came with the Series x console purchase and another controller that came with the Series S console purchase. The Series S white controller lasted shy of 2 years, the Series X controller barely made 1.5 years.

Funnily enough a separate controller (the blue design) os over 2 years old and still no stick drift. But its mostly a pc gaming controller - however most use is gor Rocket League and its bound to get stick drift soon lol.

      • I've returned my gen 2 controller to ms 4 times I'm still not lucky, just fixed the stick drift the other day because my warranty expired.

My gen 1 controller quality was next level, I've given my old setup to my nephew. It recently started getting stick drift but I'm guessing he done it himself so how, the controller is about 12 years old that's done big hours and my nephews had my old setup for 2-3 years now. He's 8 yo

    • 100% ms gen 2 controllers suck balls quality wise, 8bitdo ultimate has been way better but it's still douki. Had my 8bit for about 6 months now it's slowly getting stuck drift, a and RB button getting stuck every now and then. I've programmed paddles as lb/rb but who knows how long that will last
