Not as good as earlier deals in Oct/Nov, but not far off.

Samsung currently discounting S23+ by $350, plus trade-in bonus is currently $250. Brings price down to $1,049.

Use Samsung app to get a 10% discount for first purchase via app.
Contact website chat support for $100 loyalty voucher (Credit to u/closed)
Contact customer service on 1300 362 603 for $100 loyalty voucher (10% and 15% no longer available according to the rep).

The two $100 vouchers stacked for me, bringing final price down to $731. My trade in was worth $25, so reduced cost down to $706.

Anyone have a workaround so I don't have to send in the trade in phone? It's worth more to me than the $25 trade in value.

Also I haven't pulled the trigger yet, so if there's any hacks still valid like adding Buds2 / USB memory or Watch for extra discount - please let me know!

How is that cheating? It's Samsung that's promoting the trade-in deal themselves. Plenty of other brands have run similar promotions before. It's very different to say deals relating to price errors where there's an honest mistake. They've consciously run the promotion.

          • +2

@syswong: They're aware of that, it's simple analytics. Samsung and the trade-in business (can't remember their name, asurion?) would know what they're getting themselves into, they've done it for ages. They charge an admin fee and are able to make big margins on the trade-in/resale value.

              @JiGaXD:

They charge an admin fee and are able to make big margins on the trade-in/resale value.

This is my problem with OZBs in these trade in deal, often complaining trade in value too low as they expect a trade in business to pay them the full second hand value.

Asurion and others are in this as a business, they have overheads, profit to meet and SKU cost (a big one). Also they took away the risk of user trading the handset themselves. You won't get a seller claim from Paypal, get rob when exchange in person, or receive fake bank notes.

@JiGaXD: Although im completely with you, im also not. :)

          • +1

@syswong: It's completely within the T&C, there is even a damn fee specifically charged for not fulfilling the trade in. Apparently cheating is following all T&C of a program that has been in place for a decade. SMH syswong lol, next you're going to be telling us not to change sims because it is cheating the phone companies. Don't cancel CC after getting signup bonus because it's cheating the CC companies.

Yes and you will have you IMEI blocked for future trade in as well. Except people glorifying way that they can get around the charges.

I will be laughing my ass off if down the line trade in companys can mark these transaction in credit record….

@syswong: @syswong your bitterness is a sad trait to have.

You still haven't reflected on the fact in the previous promotion in Oct/Nov Asurion accepted $1 trade-in valued bluetooth headsets that had no possibility of resale, and provided free postage to return the items to Asurion. They were at a net loss simply by asking people to return the headsets, and quite happily offered that promotion to the market.

Try and have a merry christmas will you.

                • -1

@dubo1981: I was fully aware of that $1 trade in which has nothing to do with the issue that I was pointing out. Asurion make a net lost is their issue, its could be a mistake or a promotion subsidise by Samsung. As a customer all I am pointing out is we should do the right thing.

Sure you now read and learned all the trick people here use and happily join the "OZB tragedy of common club". Merry Christma to yo too..

              • -1

@syswong: Yes, that is the conditions the person agrees to. Everyone is happy with their conditions they agreed to on both sides. Everything is legal. Only person unhappy is you ๐Ÿ˜‚

Please don't pick and choose what deals you think are "cheating" when you support fake VPN location and fake member from different address. That is million x more cheating than following ALL t&c with asurion. What you are doing is bypassing a geoblock that is actually against the streaming services T&C. What people are doing with Asurion is following ALL rules.

Btw, they are not covering all the SS phone discount. Most likely it is a partnership contract with a set agreement fee. You would be extremely silly to think Asurion are paying a marked up discount for every phone from their own pocket. This would make zero sense since they allow $5 trade-in items. You think they are actually paying the $200 discount to Samsung what a joke ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes, keep laughing when people follow all T&C and laws while dreaming that something will never happen will happen just because it doesnt align with your personal moral system but breaking other business T&C doesn't ๐Ÿ˜‚ it's way more likely you'll be asked to pay back your geobypass fee than ppl following all the rules get penalized ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

                • -1

@takutox: Asurion did not pay for the discount for sure and you don't have to remind others about that and I never say they did. The discount is offer by Sansung on the condition that your trade in tradable device.

Everyone keep arguing about T&C but no one mention about cheating with a $5 trade in value and then use ways to make Asurion unable to charge the admin fee. Mark my word, they will soon include the admin fee in the pre charge and only refund that when you send in the device because People do not follow the rule.

About me supporting VPN location subscription, can't see how that is the same when a device is technically in the geographic location. If you want to go on this argument fine by me and and start a new thread, geoblock is full of BS and yes I am against it. It is all about corporation milking people. Internet is suppose to be a global community…. I stop here now as that goes on to a thousand words argunment.

On the other hand Samsung, Asurion, Telstra and JB are (were) creating some really good deals and these deals are disappearing because a certain group of people keep exploiting the loop holes.

                  • -1

@syswong: The device is not in the geographical location. You are cheating the system to trick the service to think it's in that geographical location. Anything else you say such as "technically" is just mental gymnastics, since the streaming services do not allow this circumvention and have even introduced extra rules to fight against this, including using fake virtual CCs.

We are 100% following the rule ๐Ÿ˜‚ YOU are the one breaking the rules. Nobody here is circumventing admin fee - THAT IS THE RULES. if you send the item, then you don't have to pay admin fee. ASURION approved the admin fee being waived and manually goes through all the cases.

Keep breaking streaming service rules and then crying about others NOT breaking rules

I can show you the exact rules we followed, WTF you talking about breaking the rules? The only person who broke the rules is you trying to bypass completely legal geographical pricing by tricking the system against their t&c

                    • @takutox:

Anyone have a workaround so I don't have to send in the trade in phone? It's worth more to me than the $25 trade in value.

Do I have to remind you what the original question was that sparked my reply? And you are telling me this person is going to pay $65 admin fee when his trade in is worth $50 at most.

Itโ€™s ok, keep picking the bit that supports an argument and ignore the plan facts that in you face. I donโ€™t expect anything more from this place.

                      • @syswong: It says nothing in that comment you replied to about not paying admin fee. The used trade in is usually severely undervalued as to where it may make sense to pay admin fee. Also admin fee is $30 depending on the item. I was charged $30 admin.

For e.g. You might get $60 for pixel 6a. But it may make sense to pay $30 to keep the pixel 6a.

Everything else you just assumed / made up

                        • @takutox:

The used trade in is usually severely undervalued

If you read my previous comment, you will know why. Just FYI the older the handset the lower the percentage on trade in value compare to second hand value. So for a Pixel 4a you may only get $40 but the second hand market may sell for $160. That is because the chance of using or selling that particular handset is very low. Anything that is under 4 years old should get about 50% of the second hand market as it has a better chance of being sold or use for RMA. and no I don't work for any phone related business, just someone paying attention to simple common sense.

As this person's number, its not relevant. Do yo think he is going to pay even it admin fee was $30? If one thinks the trade in is a bad deal then keep you bloody old phone. You can still get 10% off from the app and likely at least one discount code if not two. No one look from the side that Samsung offered additional $275 credit for a device that only worth $100 max. It is always me me me me!

BTW since you replied, its not just me who thinks Geoblock is wrong, the EU court seems to agree and Geoblocking for steaming content are likely to be ban soon in EU, Google it!!

                          • @syswong: Your rambling is making no sense. Samsung have high markups for the RRP on their phones so it's not really $275 coming out of their pocket. Everyone profits.

The chance of selling a phone is also not low, they sell on eBay all the time. People take a huge loss because of convenience, not because it's hard to sell a 6a for $10.

Also, it completely makes sense to pay $30 admin fee and get an additional $275 off instead of giving away my pixel 6a for $20. You are just talking out your arse about what ppl would do. I paid the admin fee myself to keep my phone so wtf you talking about you know what people would do? Just talking out your ass

The only person who is "me, me, me", is ironically you.

So may be you need you eyes checked? Maybe your brain and ass too…..

They do that but they also give away many freebies and discounts. especially in Australia. The best place to compare price is HK. Where a S23U retails for HK$7,550 equal for just over 1.4K. Its about the same across Asia, but the type of discount we get here is rare in Asia. Yes they profit from it but I think they are also very generous. So all I am saying is people should do the right thing and if you are one of those then good!

                              • @syswong: That is $185 for a perfect working condition pixel. It means you are losing $170 if you trade it in. You cant see how paying admin fee is worth it for getting $270 discount and not having to sell the phone at such a loss? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Your point was that noone is paying the admin fee and circumventing. Idk - getting $270 of discount and not being forced to sell pixel at $170-230 loss seems like a pretty good reason for me to pay admin fee. But math not your strong suit

Many don't, because they go within the rules and have sent an item that has been EXPLICITLY AND MANUALLY approved by Asurion WITHIN THE RULES. I have also been one of those people. That means they really did send the item. Maybe you need your eyes checked and your ass checked from all the butthurt ๐Ÿ˜‚. There was literally only ever one person that said they wouldn't pay it by cancelling their credit card and they were questioned. Nobody else is going out there cancelling their credit card LMAO. Lol, now talking about other countries. There are lots of deals for s23 in US especially those regarding certain phone companies. You know they offered $1 trade-in for any random bluetooth earbuds two months ago right? Pretty sure the trade-in product is of little value, unless it's something that has resale value.

Even if it was cheating, screwing over certain multinationals isn't something I'd really lose sleep over lol. How does that meme go again?

        Multinational corporation cheats: I sleep.

      • Are you serious!

IIRC the trick is just to mark the screen as broken when doing the trade-in so it's only worth $1 and just don't send it in. You'll lose an admin fee ($60~?) and trade-in value but keep the bonus $250

      • Dialed in, full resin.

Yep. Chat support I just asked if there's any extra promotion they can offer to purchase an S23. For phone call, just ask about any loyalty offers that are available for the S23.

I asked specifically for the 10% off discount, but I was told that and the 15% offer was no longer available - but a $100 voucher was. I tested stacking them in checkout and it worked ok.

I'm getting over the lack of s23 ultra 512gb deals…

    • Probably because people cleared out their stock when it was around $700-800 or whatever it came to.

  • +17

Why canโ€™t they stop the rot and just sell it for what itโ€™s worth , $800

    • +4

Because this way they get the two customer bases, people who want a competitive price like us, and people who don't care about $$$ or doing the work and just want to flash their new phone every single year.

Which is becoming stupider every year because there is going to be a limit to how much a phone can improve, they all look identical and are overpowered to run basic stuff people use phones for already, how many more cameras can they cram in or upgrade a CPU to run a text based social media app that would run on any old chip (and would have longer battery with lower power requirements).

Nah, itโ€™s cause in certain markets the phone is only competitive if it costs the same as an iPhone, otherwise itโ€™s not as good.

    • why can't they just do a flat $600 off instead of having to sign up with this trade in bs.

    • Is this S23 + or normal S23 .. normal 23 I can get it down to $700 stacking is it worth it? Or wait 3 months more not in a rush.

      • +1

This deal is for the S23+ and it is cheaper than the normal S23 because the base price of S23+ is currently cheaper than S23. If you have all the codes, S23+ 256GB comes down to $585 so you are missing some codes.
$700 is ok but not that good enough for me to buy and would wait for S24. Normal S23 was down to about $340 including buds2 and S23+ was about $555 including the Buds2 in September. Think there should be deals to get S24+ down to around $700 but its always a guess.

        • Hi mate, where did you see the S23 for $340? This sounds too good to be true!

Would appreciate any info so I can keep an eye on it for future thanks

          • +1

@TwiztaKev: It was posted back in September. Search the posts.

  • Will you receive the new phone first to allow you to transfer data over before sending back old phone as part of trade in deal?

    • Yes

    • +1

Yes, you have 14 days to return it before they charge a late fee

  • This only have one physical sim, right?

  • If i ordered this now online, generally would you be able to pick up the phone instore the same day?

    • no, In-store and online stocks are different apparently. You will need to wait until they send the phone to the store, i tried pick up before and had to wait 3-4 days to get it.
For this reason just have the phone delivered to your address

Good deal if you need to buy now.

Seems like the S24+ will use an Exynos processor, so I'm leaning towards the S23+.

Maybe I'll reconsider if the S24+ has a screen resolution upgrade.

      • -1

Unlikely we will see Exynos for the S24.

  • +1

This might seem like a stupid question… Do I actually need to already be a samsung customer to receive the "loyalty" voucher? As in, do I need proof?

    • +1

IIRC, they didnโ€™t ask me for any details about my existing/previous devices. They WILL try to walk you through the ordering process online over the phone instead of just giving you the code right there and then. But insist youโ€™ll do it later and just need the code for now, theyโ€™ll happily give you the code.

  • Does the $50 newsletter voucher no longer exist?

    • I think it was replaced in November in favour of the 10% off for using the Samsung app.

  • +1

I can still see non-branded headphones available in the Samsung tradeup app. you can select those to get the tradeup discount and send the cheapest headphones from Kmart.

    • Has your app been updated recently, or is it an old version? I downloaded it this week and it only give you the option to select a phone or a watch.

      • I haven't updated the app. But I did the same 2 months ago during the deal on s23 ultra

        • Yep, the app has changed unfortunately. The previous option for bluetooth headphones is gone.

    • +1

It shows if you havent updated the app but it doesnt finalise the trade in at payment stage anymore. It did for a little while after the they removed it from latest version but closed that hole sometime after.
I dont think Samsung even promote the use of the trade up app anymore and staff advise to go through their own website/app which hasnt had it for months before Asurion removed it from trade up app.

Just a tip from my experience,
I traded in "other earbud", Samsung employee in store told me it has to be wireless earbuds, I chose to ignore him as I didn't trust him. The trade in value for that "other earbud" was $1. I went to Kmart and bought a pink wired earphones cost $2 and sent it to them. They assessed and approved it and got my $1 + trade In bonus at the time and got an s23.

    • Sadly not available through Trade Up program currently.

With the S24u moated to hav no more telescopic zoom it is time to get the S23u now. Still in the top 4 best phones.

  • I'd be surprised if many people can get a $100 voucher, let alone two that stack. Sounds to me like most would be paying $830 or $930 for this phone…

    • I got the $100 voucher over phone yesterday, and my $100 website chat voucher does stack.

Someone did mention that chat support vouchers have switched to new codes recently, and I did get mine a few weeks back, so you might be right that two sourced today might not stack.

      • +1

I tried stacking the 2 x different codes but they didn't stack

        • While the phone ones have a 30 day expiry, it appears the chat ones last longer. If anyone didn't use one from October/November, it likely still works.

Worth asking around, or testing a rep for a % discount voucher. I only tried once yesterday, and I've heard different reps give different answers (at least back in November).

  • Phone is on its last legs, Have been trying to hold out for an s24. Decisions decisions

  • How many RAM does the s23+ has? I hope not 8gb same as my s10. I find s23u very bulky and too big. Hopefully they address this in the s24 series.

    • 8GB

installed the Samsung Store app but it has no phones for sale, only TVs and appliances…?

    • s24 ultra will not have a bulk reduction, apparently all the marketing people at most phone companies think that a chunky monkey feels premium.

      • I am hoping that s24+ would have more RAM 12gb & all the cameras, same like the ultra without the square edges & the pen?

        • S24+ and ultra all start with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

    • I just switched from S10 to s23. Yes, RAM, screen resolution and storage capacity are a backwards step, which annoys me, but the CPU speed is noticeably better with the S23. So much faster to load apps

      • It better be much faster, itโ€™s 4 yrs newer?

  • +1

Thanks OP - HODLing off till the S24 - Should be announced in Jan 2024

    • +1

Will you get it at double the price? Or historically has there been a way to get a heavy discount on a new model around the time of release?

      • +1

I Usually trade in my current phone to my Provider - They usually give me a trade in price, plus a bonus. I managed to get 900 credit for my s22 and I traded in my S20!

    • +1

Expect a drop in other flagship phones. I bought an oppo findx 5 for $823 brand new from mobileciti eBay store.

      It's been great.

Only thing I miss is the s pen.

But a better build quality than my old Samsung notes

  • +2

Use Samsung app to get a 10% discount for first purchase via app.
Contact website chat support for $100 loyalty voucher (Credit to u/closed)
Contact customer service on 1300 362 603 for $100 loyalty voucher (10% and 15% no longer available according to the rep).

Yes, I'm also preparing for Samsung's entrance exam.

    • Try for the 10% off voucher by phone (sometimes the reps say no, but it actually is available from another rep). Reports that two $100 vouchers sourced today might not stack. My chat bot one was from a few weeks back.

    • I just tried stacking the 2 x $100 vouchers but they didn't stack

      • Yes I looked at the TC's from the web chat and it clearly states that only one voucher can be used. They must of closed the loophole already?

        • Stacking codes has been fine for months, I think you can't stack codes with the same 3 digits at the front?

That's why previously a $100 off, plus 10% off codes were the best to get - as they had different digits at the front.

FYI I just purchased with the two codes stacked. Note the second code (chat) was sourced a few weeks back.

          • +1

@dubo1981: Mine were CRE & CRS but didn't stack

            • @kovoker: Does either 1 of those codes work in the app?
Was the CRS code from online chat or the phone number?

              • +1

@8azinga: Yea either 1 works by itself.
CRE was from the app online chat

                • +1

@kovoker: Yep just tried to stack to no avail

But still awesome price and was able to upgrade the wife's phone from a S20FE!

  • OP, what were the first 3 digits of your 2 $100 codes? I assume 1 was EDS…?

    • Yep, EDS and CRS. I just put through my order, with $1 trade in and final purchase price was $728.

      • I'm chatting with Support, got a code CRE-… but it is invalid in the app.

  • If you don't send in the trade in device, do you get charged $250 or whatever the value of the device is eg $25 for an old phone
