    What makes it premium?

    • +13

      Its name of course.

    • It's organic

    • +1

What does the word premium even mean anymore…

      • +9

As much meaningful as Pro, Plus, Super, Prime or Ti Super lol

      • +5

apart from insurance, has it really meant anything for 40+yrs?

      • +8

        "You pay more"

      • Not quite as good as the Elite version.

    • +12

      98 octane

    • +2

It's certainly got more features than the base model backpack from Adidas/Nike etc. Whether the quality of materials and manufacture is higher is unknown.

    • hi viz zipper pulls

    • MSA graded

    • +4

I'd be interested too. What makes this Premium vs. say a yacht, which I could also afford.

  • +2

    Looks alright for the price

  • +1

this was better, at least you van see their homework/notes/lunchbox inside

  • +2

    What makes it a bargain?

  • +4

Does it come with a Baggy Green?

    • Two I think!

    • +4

Ironically, sandpaper also in the middle aisle this week at Aldi.

  • +1

    More Aldi landfill. Hooray!

    • +1

I am not associated with Aldi and I keep turning it off in my settings and it keeps auto associating me. How to fix?

      • Speak to a mod

      • That’s a German engineering issue. Severe all ties with Aldi, Germany and swear to keep off Bundesliga, German sausage and beer. Maybe it’ll go away by itself then

      • +1

Did you use Aldi wifi before?

      • You untick the associated box when you comment.

        • Won't let me. When I change it in settings, it just turns back on too

      • You need to untick associated when replying or posting in thus thread

    • +4

Why? There is no mention of Aldi on this backpack.

    • +21

I know right? I only send my kids to school with top of the line brands so I can make sure everyone knows my kid is rich and cool. Love paying 10x the price for an item just for the brand and the clout my kid will have with all the other 10 year olds.

      • -6

These things matter to kids. Some probably don't want their kid to be excluded from a social network to save a couple of dollars on a backpack.

No one is telling you to send them in Gucci, but being the ALDI kid would be awful.

          These things matter to kids.

Best not to live your life worrying what other people think. The sooner a child learns this the easier their whole life will be.

          • -2

@WatchNerd: Well in that case I will just send my kid in a pair of mismatched gumboots, fishnets, a month eaten black skivvy and a hot pink fedora. That will really filter out the unsavoury friendship groups.

        • +9

It matters to kids that steal from other kids. The social network that excludes because of brand attachment is the network you shouldn't want your kid involved in.

        • This is the only word that should come to mind , PROPAGANDIZED !

    • +5

If it's full of free knoppers for everyone then instant legendary status.

    • You read my mind @Koppeldread!

    • +1

It doesn't say Aldi on the backpack.

  • +2

If your kid rides to school on a bike or scooter, make sure you get them one with a chest strap. They're more secure, comfortable, stable and put less strain on the back and shoulders.

    • They should probably all come with a chest strap anyway. Every kid I see walking to and from school seems to have more stuff in their backpack than an Nepalese Sherpa.

  • damn dat fancy

  • Nowhere near big enough to hold 3 classes of schoolbook from homework, a lunchbox and your private school PE Set.

  • +1

Nothing will be as cool as the canvas haversacks we had in the 80's.

  • with this price, it is even better than normal generic purpose backpack?

  • I have never seen a generic school bag on any school children in my area, it always has the school logo printed.

    • +6

      Username doesn't check out.

      • For real lol. I always thought generic bags werent allowed in schools. My wife got told during school info night and at the school supplies shop.

  • +1

I have one of these as a work bag.I prefer it to my expensive Samsonite laptop bag at 16x the price.

It's been fine for 5 years. However, the newer model Aldi bags I looked at last year looked like rubbish quality.

    • You can't mention Samsonite here and not post this

  • +2

I don't know if the quality has changed, but we got a similar Aldi one about 6 years and it has held up really well. I consider it a feature that it doesn't look like everyone else's endorsed school bag, which makes it much easier to identify when there are heaps of bags scattered everywhere.

  • I need a new gym backpack

  • I'd hate to see the non premium version

  • 99.95 atar guaranteed?

  • dont tell LLT store

  • How is the padding on these I wonder.. Bought an Adidas one from Anaconda and it's woefully thin padding

    • Pretty good for $14.99.

  • Stock delayed at Casey Central and Fountain Gate in Melbourne.

  • +1

It's actually not bad. The laptop compartment is well padded. Despite the advertisement's claim that it fits up to 15 inch laptops, the zipper will not close so I think the maximum size is likely 14 inch.

It's better than the junk Dell Basic backpack in terms of design, zipper placement and material thickness.

    • That's exactly the backpack I want to replace. It's good for events with the covering of the zipper, but for everyday work carry I am not liking it so much.

    • What's the stock ratio been like in store between blue and black?

  • Picked one up this afternoon. 5 of each in stock. Bag feels pretty good quality, especially for $15 (much better than Kmart alternative).

  • These keep getting worse every year. The 2020 bag posted on Ozbargain is great and I'm using it as a work backpack. The current year one is much small (depth of about 16cm vs 24cm), The old one effectively had one more large pocket. In between 2020 and this one we've had ones that were in between in size and quality. At this rate by 2030, the school backpack will be the size of a lunchbox and have one pocket. ;-)
