Boom 3 $98 Lagoon

For some reason there is a second Boom 3 link (just in case above goes out of stock): https://www.amazon.com.au/ULTIMATE-Portable-Bluetooth-Speake…

Duplicate removed from title — Mod.

Edit: I swear the other Wonderboom 3 $74 deal was expired, since I checked just yesterday or the day before and the price for all Wonderboom 3's was $96. looks like previous deal is "unexpired" now.

not as low as the Target $74 - $10 newsletter coupon price. but Amazon AU offers free shipping because it's over $59 spend.
Boom 3 listing still shows the option incorrectly as "Megaboom 3" (they still haven't fixed it lol) but going by previous deal comments I wouldn't test your luck as most likely you will end up with Boom 3 or your money back but not your time.

Lavender purple Wonderboom 3 is not on sale and still $96.

Good prices, but I just can't buy a micro USB product in 2024…

    • "I just can't buy a micro USB product in 2024…"

of all comments this is the comment I was expecting to see the most so good on ya. first!

    • +1

      Why not?

      • +1

        Two main reasons

        1. People tend to have only usb C devices now so you have to keep another cable around
        2. Usb C is waterproof by itself, micro usb requires a cover which can degrade over time affecting water resistance
      • The micro -usb port of my megaboom (1) is the weakest part of the whole unit. Friggin hate them and yeah sucks buying new tech which enforce ties legacy tech

    • Just get the charge dock, and never worry about plugging anything in

      • +1

worth pointing out charge dock only works with Boom 3 and up.

Found one of these on the side of the road.

Quite impressively loud, and no distortion until the very last volume notch.

"Found one of these on the side of the road."

      lol interesting after new years?

funny thing is someone I know also found a similar sized speaker on the side of the road (not UE brand) and they were also impressed by the sound.

I guess the real deal is, find it on the side of the road for free lol.

    • "and no distortion until the very last volume notch."

quite easy to achieve these days btw, DSP simply cuts the bass (the most likely frequencies to cause distortion) aggressively as you raise the volume level to prevent distortion. the Wonderboom 3 does get impressively loud though for it's size.

I have also been working on a PEQ for the speaker for indoor use, and while it's going to be more obvious to me than others (because I measure the speaker regularly) I quite quickly discovered the bass starts being reduced relative to everything else - at 50% volume. so yeah that's how it gets loud the bass cut starts happening a little earlier in the volume range than my other speakers. I have been EQing it for increased bass extension and linearity so I notice right away 40%~45% is the sweet spot. I turn it up one notch in volume and everything above the bass gets louder but the volume of the bass stays almost the same as when it was one step down in volume level.

All very correct. I used to do professional EQ for a living for a few years until I got my sight back.

I guess the impressive part was how little it had to cut.

Demo tracks with High-over-low notes (like Bangarang, or any of the Piep Kick sound effects by Greazy Puzzy F**kerz) really easily become trebel torture machines; but not so on that thing. Lower male vocals like Louis Armstrong and such also didn't sound unnatural.

You're totally right, they cut lows to achieve it, but it's surprising how little.

Dont think id pay more than $60 for it personally, but it was certainly not a letdown.

        • "I guess the impressive part was how little it had to cut."

yeah I think the passive radiators are tuned really well which allows it to dig deeper than it's dual 1.5 inch drivers would suggest. well designed speaker imo not that special when you look at the teardown but I think everything including internal volume has been properly calculated.

also just before anyone misunderstands my previous comment about EQ. no the Wonderboom 3 does not have an App. I use a 3rd party PEQ and it only applies to local audio files being played on device.

Boom 3 connects with the UE Boom App. Wonderboom 3 does not.

Bought Megaboom 3 but received boom 3 , when contacted was told that I bought boom 3 and that I was lying which is when I pressed hard, asked to talk to manager and got my money refunded without returning. Also asked them to cancel the boom 3 listings with Megaboom 3 option which they did when I threatened to complain to ACC but its live again! Poor smazon!

    • I'm getting more tempted by the day with all these free boom 3s being handed out with a bit of complaining.

      • honestly I think it's the same with price matching "price errors" but after the first ~10 claims (compaints) they catch on and will stop giving out purchases.

also so many things can contribute to special treatment (but it's still not guaranteed if you are one example that follows) such as you recently joined Amazon Prime for the first time or started a free trial and you complain your experience was poor etc. or maybe you have spent $10000's on amazon over the years and barely ever complain/ask for refunds, then you are a valued customer so $98 is a drop in the bucket.

I just think you can't describe the mistake in the listing as a "guaranteed 100% free Boom 3 hack".

for example I have had an account for a long time, but don't shop that much on Amazon. recently there was a Amazon giftcard promo where they offered bonus credit for $500, $750, 1000 giftcards. I planned on getting the $750 but 48 hours after the promo started (and before the "end date" in the T&C's) they pulled all higher amounts and only offered $10 credit with $250 giftcard purchase (redeemable only once). I went into chat saying I wanted the $30 credit when I buy the $750 GC and if they can add the credit because according to T&C's the promo hasn't expired yet. they said tough luck "we aren't in charge of that".

My intention was not to get it for free. They had ( still have) error in listing but rather than acknowledging they blamed me of lying. In a year I have made more than 149 orders and somewhat near $4k and they do mess up my orders sometimes but also always have rectified to my satisfaction. I only pressed hard when they ( 3 of their staff including manager) suggested that I am lying.

          • @MrPresident: sorry wasn't calling out your particular situation. I was just responding to user "Name" who's comment seemed to suggest it was the equivalent of a freebie (or maybe they were joking).

yeah I would probably respond as you did if I was accused of lying by three different CS members when I clearly wasn't. I was just trying to point out every case is unique and the end result will likely not be as it was reported by other users. I think another user who reported the Boom 3 page mixup mentioned they were offered a giftcard amount as a "sorry" but no refund, again really just a luck of the draw.

just from what you shared I think you are a bigger amazon shopper than I am. I average about 10~20 orders per year (sometimes multiple items in single order). I get the occasional monthly free trial offered to me again, but up until now I have always tried to bundle items so I meet the minimum spend for free delivery (sucks now it's $59 up from $39).

  • I found the wb3 to be very disappointing compared to my much older Sony and Bose Revolve BT speakers. Poor sound quality.

  • Ordered couple of days ago and received the Boom3 - After speaking to the manager, he proposed the following (basically $146amazon credit)

"1- You will return the one that you received for full refund $98
2- I will add the price difference of $146 to your account
3- you may order the one that I sent above, with the same price $98"

    • kind of confusing but I think it means, you get a Megaboom 3 for $98???

that last line though confuses me, so you get $146 credit and buy Boom 3 again for $98??

      • 'may' is not have to..

        • ok I think I get you. you answered it here lol sorry "he proposed the following (basically $146amazon credit)".

well sounds like you got an awesome deal then. $146 off your next purchase.
