    Set Phasers to Stun

I don't understand the star trek reference. As a someone who's a big Trekkie, this makes me anxious.

      • +3

Because it vaguely resembles a tricorder?

        • +6

If your doctor sets their tricorder to stun I suggest your find a different doctor!

          • +1

@McFly: That’s why we don’t assign bdl as the ships doctor…

            • @mapax: My tricorder has Bluetooth V5.0 and megabass

          • @McFly: No wonder they have normal and medical tricorders, hey had to separate them because too many doctors were phasing their patients!

      sounds alright on the review

    The AUX-in is interesting.

    • +1

the AUX on it, is it AUX in or out? description says out.

  • +8

    This looks ridiculously overengineered.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • +1

Can recommend this in terms of reliability and functionality. It is a little bulky though.

  • -1

Im assuming it transmits in mono, as most car FM transmitters are. Unsure if there are any Stereo FM transmitters tbh.

    • +1

I've had four or five FM transmitters over the past couple of decades, bought from places like Jaycar and Big W (Belkin, Digitech, and no-name brands). All of them have transmitted in stereo.

In fact, I usually set up my MP3 player to reduce the stereo width to 50% or so, as full stereo separation in a car can be a bit much.

  • I bought the Xiaomi one a while back (Roidme 2.0 I think it was called) but the volume is ridiculously low.
Anyone know if that's a thing about the transmitters or just that one?

    • I purchased a [Lencent] (https://amzn.asia/d/9IaZFjH) when it was on sale last month. No issues with volumes overall, but I noticed they all transmit in mono not stereo. Not the greatest but better than nothing I guess.

      • lencent is just a rebrand of generic transmitter on AliExpress which sells for $7

        • Yeh I got mine for $23 next day delivered. Aliexpress requires $15+ for free shipping and 12 day delivery.

    • Did you turn the volume up on the transmitter? I’ve only had 2 other brands in the past but they both had adjustable volume that went adequately loud.

      • I think i did turn up the volume on the transmitter but it didnt have to be set to max. I'd prefer to control the volume on the main head unit dial, so would leave the transmitter on a higher volume.

    • +1

I got one (not this) from Ali and volume is also very low.

    • I had a similar one, having low volume is a norm.

  • As this is designed so you can play music from a usb drive or Spotify or YouTube etc through the FM receiver in vehicles it should transmit it stereo, except for the hands free function for phone calls

  • Thanks OP, I was just saying to my wife that I’ll have to look for one of these whilst I’m in the loaner work vehicle for the next month.

  • Does this allow multiple devices to connect via Bluetooth at once? With my Roidmi it's really annoying to turn off auto-pairing from one device if the partner's device wants to connect.

  • +1

    Anyone difference between km29?

    • +1

      1

  • How does this connect to your car's speaker? Aux cable?

    • +1

It transmits on the FM radio band, you can select a frequency and tune your radio to it

    • Do not use the fm transmit, aux works better and far Superior sound quality. I have this device and use it all the time it works flawlessly and is well worth it even at 25, much smaller than you would expect and it has built in eq which I use always as it's a little flat without

      • Car is pre-2000, no AUX :-(

  • +7

A small piece of advice, if you are thinking about buying this to use in a vehicle that doesn’t already have Bluetooth capability, consider where the power socket in your vehicle is and whether you would be able to access it controls easily when it’s plugged in.

The power socket in some vehicles are recessed into the dashboard or centre console which might make it difficult to install and or use.

The Nulaxy KM29 has a flexible stalk and the head can rotate 360 degrees which might be a better solution for some vehicles.

    Why not.

    OOS, ozbargained. Well done all.

tbf theyre all over ebay but prices are going up because of you lot…

  • +1

Surprised that many people here are still buying this - are most ozbarginers still driving cars which were made ealier than mid 2000s?

    • +1

Yes still (proudly) driving my Camry 2007 so I can spend on other things posted on OZBargain

      • +2

If it wasn't due to the inexperienced red P-plate driver that crashed into my car last year, i would be cruising on my 2005 Camry.

    • Unfortunately the 2015 upgrade didn't include Bluetooth - still had to use a Walkman.

People are going to get done by this device, by the mobile phone and seatbelt cameras. They're going to claim it's a phone, and if you're touching it, sting you with a fine they won't let you get out of paying.

    • Not sure what the rules are in QLD but in NSW the offence is for holding a mobile phone in your hand, it’s not for touching an ancillary device of which one of the features is being able to answer phone calls without the need to touch your phone. You can also make calls hands free using Siri etc.

      • Not sure what the rules are in QLD but in NSW the offence is for holding a mobile phone in your hand,

        No it isn't.

If the phone is in your lap you can't use it.

If it's in a cradle you can use limited functions, not anything you want.

        • Thanks for the additional information, you are correct in NSW you are not allowed to touch a mobile phone unless it’s in a cradle, so holding it in your hand or having it on your lap is the same offence, as having it on your lap is considered to be intent to use.

Hence the reason many owners of vehicles that don’t have factory installed Bluetooth connectivity use either a Bluetooth headset or an aftermarket device like these type of products that provide hands free capability.

Received me. Pretty good much better than my lucent which only does mono and this does stereo!

    • +1

Got mine today too. Very decent value.

  • Anyone know what radio frequency/ channel is empty?

  • +1

My order from an alternative ebay seller was just cancelled (out of stock/damaged as the reason). Trying to find another cheaply priced and came across this on Aliexpress. Do we think it is the same device? Uses the same photos etc…. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006076536673.html

Also seen the Nulaxy KM30 as the Lencent BT93 to confuse things further. Any help greatly appreciated.
