moto is all nice and shiny until you launch the camera.

      • Whats a better option since pixel 7 is know for battery issues. For $500.

  • Thanks OP! Bought one!

    • Good luck finding stock.

  • Why is Telstra ID always required with these phones?

  • Purchased Lemongrass and the order is pending. Online chat asked to wait 24 hours to confirm the order. Hmm…

  • Waiting for Officeworks to hopefully price match the 7 Pro

  • Need a pixel 8 deal soon…

A mobile phone on average is likely to require a battery replacement within 2 to 3 years of its service life - let's say 3 years best case scenario.

Using today's costs, a 3rd party repairer (cheaper than Google) and a Pixel 6 as a yard stick the replacement cost could be around $140.00 to replace the battery.

    https://www.screenfixed.com.au/repairs/google-pixel-6-batter…

I question whether it would even be worth paying for a replacement battery? If history repeats, I'll more than likely pay the $500 (or the inflationary equivalent) for the next Pixel (or insert other brand here) that is on 'sale' due to being superseded by the next 'must have' model.

Extended years of support software/security support will probably be more beneficial to whomever I end up gifting my current phone to.

  • any idea how long do they take to ship??? need it in around 2 weeks

Here's a link to a previous Telstra Pixel 7 deal, if the phone is in stock 7 business days at the most seems to be a reasonable expectation.

If the phone is on back-order though you could be up for an extended wait.

I just got price match with Jb hifi and paid with gift card 10% =)))

    • No way, I tried price matching and JB said they don't price match this deal as you will need a Telstra account to order the phone..

      • I price match with OW not Telstra. I got it today at 4PM when I finish work and pass by. luckily the HOME gc were still in my bag when I bought them not long ago =)))

        • at the time OW online is unavailable but OW store still has some. I just showed the guy at JB hifi and picked up the Black one as they don't have lemongrass in stock …
as HOME gc didnt have OW , only JB hifi that why I went to JB

    • I tried this yesterday. Just tried again this morning, and showed the guy I have a Telstra account and can buy the phone through telstra, and still, this is their response:

"Unfortunately, I can't price match this one because it's stocked by Telstra which is a members only business.
I can't price match Officeworks' listing of this one either because it's out of stock"

Got a $100 GC I really wanna use at JB for this! Ugh.

  • Regret buying mine at 750, but no denying it's a deal at this price.

  • Update - ordered 09-01-24 (Pixel 7 128GB black) text message received confirming dispatch on 10-01-24 (Qld).

    • You are lucky. I ordered on 9th 1:45PM (VIC). Got an email 2 hrs after saying on back order. Not happy, Telstra!

  • update with dispatch today and will receive 11/01/24 (VIC) so looks much better than last time

Does a telstra pre-paid service count as an "service"?

I still have my telstra account but no longer have a single service, just wanna get the cheapest "service" temporarily to purchase.

    • +2

I had a Telstra service 6 years ago.
      Apparently, account still active.
      Bought the phone no dramas.

      • doh.. i didn't scroll down far enough to the very bottom to see that I could just add to cart. thought I had to add a plan.

All good, JB Hifi has price matched in new deal thread

Will probably get cained for saying this but you could try your luck at Officeworks.
i've got them to pricebeat Telstra before (pixel 5).

Better to get outright and just get a 365d boost sim (and telstra ID)

  • Order declined by control group… Anyone else having same issue? Any solution?

  • Ordered yesterday afternoon, dispatched 7pm last night from Sydney, received text advising it would be delivered today in Adelaide. Telstra are faster than Amazon, well done Telstra!

  • Why was there only 12 months between Pixel 7 and 8?

    • +1

Because that's how it is with all major smartphone releases?

    • Every year around October.

These days they aren't ground breaking upgrades, I usually only get ever second one (was doing the odd numbers but got the 8 anyway for a tax invoice and JB has pretty good trades/pre-release deals). Good not hanging onto them too long for resale.

Apple would last you more than 3-4 years though and cost $$$.

  • "Lemongrass" color is available now.

  • Called 2 JBs just now both said I could not pickup in store. They would price match but it needs to be ordered by them and sent from telstra.

Could I get one from Telstra store?

  • I got JB HiFi to price match by filling up their online price match form. They refused to price match to Officeworks over the phone.

  • Any tip to buy without Telstra id or without Optus?
Can I buy a new sim and apply for telstra id?

    • +1

      Jb hi-fi are price matching

      • Thank you. I am looking for 256gb and retailers doesnt have stock.

Edit: managed to order one at HN. Hopefully they will fulfil it.

  • I got my phone today and it's a faulty product. Can't turn on or recharge. It's also written on the box saying imported by Taiwan Mobile (in Chinese). Does Telstra buy overseas stock and sell in AUS like Kogan???

    • They shouldn't

  • This would suit me fine - except Pixel modems seem to be garbage - and Pixel 8 uses same one. We're in an area where signal is not great for any of the 3 networks - even though we're only about 20km from Melbourne CBD - dropouts and low speed on 5 / 6a. 5 year old Samsung doesn't seem to have any problem.

    • Not disputing it, but is that personal experience or a documented thing? I've been happy with my 6a. Was 2 seconds from getting the Mrs a 7. Mine's often pausing before filling the screen with content, but I've just put that down to mobile reception. Boost, but who knows.

    • Sounds like more of an issue of network signal where you live, mine is fine.

      • We do seem to be in a problem area (NE Melbourne suburb). Normally best 4G download speed we get is 20Gbps to 30 Gbps on our current Pixels - both Optus and Telstra - but often lower. Which is why I've become interested in modems.

        • Maybe just use wifi (NBN) at home, usually fixes that problem (sorry if you do already but that would improve the issue with the phone)

  • Back in stock with free delivery

  • FYI i ordered yday and got put on back order

  • Ordered on Monday via the Telstra rewards store, was delivered today. Been sitting on 35k of points for 2 years now waiting to use them.

  • Can someone share warranty claim experience with Telstra before please?

  • Looks like the 128 GB version is out of stock now

    • +2

It has been going in and out of stock for the last couple of days. Keep an eye on it and you might be lucky.

  • Upper midrange at lower midrange price.
    Time to jam Instagram….

  • I ordered a 128 gb lemongrass colour on the 10th of January. I have just received my weekly SMS letting me know there is a delay and that they will let me know when stock is available :(
