Hard Disk Sentinel Standard Edition
Monitor the Health of Your Hard Drive

Have you ever suffered through the pain and agony of a hard drive failure? To you, it's pretty straightforward — one day your computer is humming along smoothly, and the next day it won't boot at all. But what you may not know is that, beyond the capabilities of your human senses, a whole host of little warning signs and other signals can actually tell you when hard drive failure is imminent! That's why Hard Disk Sentinel is so important.

Hard Disk Sentinel monitors and analyzes your hard disk and solid state drives, giving you valuable feedback on the health of the drive, any performance degradations, and warning of impending failure. With Hard Disk Sentinel, you'll be able to find, test, diagnose, and even repair disk drive issues before they escalate to catastrophic status.

And you won't have to worry about getting overwhelmed with a bunch of technical babble — Hard Disk Sentinel gives you an easily understandable description of what's going on, and offers tips on how to proceed! A laundry list of alerts and reports gives you the ultimate flexibility to determine how close you wish to monitor your drives, letting you safeguard your data at all times.

Unlike some other titles on the market, Hard Disk Sentinel is a complete monitoring solution. There's no need to purchase other tools in order to verify internal hard disks, external hard disks, SSDs, or disks in RAID arrays!

What kinds of info do you get with Hard Disk Sentinel? How about temperature, and the ability to view S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) data, a feature built into the latest disk drives. There's also real-time monitoring of disk transfer speeds, an important indicator of a failing hard drive!

License grants usage on one computer at a time.

Today's promotion includes the following:
Hard Disk Sentinel Standard Edition - Lifetime use and no upgrades (install only during promotion day) v6.01 ($0)

why the website look like smth out of 2002

    • +6

Its a click funnel page, but with a genuine entry offer.
The program is 'free' in exchange for your information.

They also are already upselling on the landing page.

Common tactic, used everywhere, not just online.

    Ill stick with CrystalDiskInfo thanks.
    More Wifu options there.

But in all seriousness, open source, industry standard, no registration, custom warnings, portable.

Why youd opt for something like this deal instead isnt clear to me…

    • I dont know much about these apps besides what people in the past recommended on the previous freebie deals they had for this app, so i just have this app on my systems these days.

Because this gives a clear description of the condition of the drive, rather than just showing the data. As well as this it takes in consideration some data that other similar tool don't, so it can give a more accurate report on the condition of a drive. This is so much better, that I haven't used CrystalDiskInfo for years.

    • More likely malware or PUP than a virus, right?

What name did it flag it as?

      • +1

Scanned clean at VirusTotal (including MS and Avast). At a guess, it accesses some things that The vendors consider a risk. So, PUP is probably a good guess.

@BarmanAU NOTE that vendors set whatever parameters they wish to use on VirusTotal. Possibly, MS and Avast have parameters that result in fewer false positives. Alternatively, Your Avast and MS scanners may have heuristic settings (more chance of detecting zero day malware). Either way, there are no guarantees but the program is probably not going to tell you to pay a King's ransom to unlock you data files.

HOWEVER: The free version does not update. So, it starts to become riskier as the program is updated and you retain the old one (i.e. it may contain not yet discovered security holes).

This website and this app has been posted on here many many times in the past, every now and then they have a freebie.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/798058

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/753027

I have this app installed on all my PCs, some use Kaspersky and others use Avast or Avira. None of them seemed to have an issue with this app for me.

If you upgrade your copy of this program in the future, then the program will appear as a trial and you will need to pay for a registration key if you want to register it.
Also, please install this product before 6th of February 2024 in order for the application to become unlocked. If you install it on or after 6th of February 2024, the application will not be unlocked and you will need a registration key to unlock it.
For easier reference here is the direct URL to the installer:

    • Thank you!

    • Didnt realise that link could be used by everyone, should i have put that as the main link?

    • +4

If installing after the install date, just backdate your PC, let it register after-which then set PC back to current date. It will remain registered.

      • oh really, didnt know that works.

What's the name for this type of software that doesn't need to exist? Shovelware? Spyware? Spongeware?

    • +1

      Spongebob

    • +1

      WOFTAMware.

    • There is a definite need for it. It instantly shows the condition of a drive and you can see if the drive has errors, or near the end of its estimate life.

Don't download these random proprietary apps. Just because it's a "bargain" doesn't mean it's good. Use crystaldiskinfo for a good open source disk health checker app.

    • +14

This tool is one of the best out their well in-line with CDI for drive stats, but not the only reason people use it.

This also has some handy tools like a full drive check and write+verify features.

For those in the shucking community this tool is a must have

    • This is far superior to CrystalDiskInfo.

  • I have been using this software for free for sometime. What would be the benefit of getting the premium version? It's kinda a thing I look at on and off 6 months or so.

    • I havent needed to get the premium version so not sure what benefits it has, I generally just use this app to let me know at a quick glance some info on my drives.

  • +1

Finally a harddrive I can just download and use !

  • Is this really needed nowadays with SSDs and their own proprietary software like Samsung Magician?

    • -2

The data this shows is more useful than what Samsung Magician does. Aside from that, while Samsung and Crucial has very SSD management tools, other brands often don't.

  • +1

Does anyone have any good free antivirus software recommendations?

    • +1

There are some sites that compare them and give their own recommendations, it seems to vary from year to year. Generally I find most are decent enough. I use Kaspersky on a couple of my machines and Avast or Avira on other ones.

  • Thought this was an upgrade so checked the app in my system tray first and it's the same version as the last deal!

  • -1

Allowed me to sign up and "purchase" but once I get the download link it says too many downloads on this link and nothing happens…

    • +3

This has been reported in the previous threads as well, it happens i think when its bombarded with requests or maybe from a group of IPs, but the direct link for the download will work anyway so just use that.
