  • Can someone teach me how to add "Catch Connect" as a related store? Doesn't show up when I add as a tag

  • eSim?

    • +1

No says sim will be shipped within 3-8 days

      • +2

Damn, not sure why many are not offering esim 😔

  • Used to be $89 just recently?

    • Only with OnePass. This doesn’t require the subscription.

    • +2

Yes and not just with Onepass either
Their "special price" Price has just gone up from $89
Im surpriseed this plan is still available as everyone else has stopped selling the 60GB 365 day plan.
      Note it renews at $120

  • -5

For $20 more you an have same data on Telstra network via aldi. At less than 5.5c a day extra i would say its a no brainer go with Telstra network.

    • wheres the link to that?

    • +10

Aldi don't use the Telstra network, they use the Telstra Wholesale Network which has less coverage and isn't really any better than Optus for most people.

      • +3

It appears that the Telstra Wholesale Network is still considered somewhat superior to that of Optus/Vodafone.

        Link

      • +4

Thats not true, the difference between Telstra vs wholesale is very small and unlikely to be noticed by most people. Much of the difference is in areas not covered by any other provider where there is a large setup cost and low return (mining sites and towns are one example). Telstra wholesale is still far superior to Optus or Vodafone (both in coverage and reliability).

    • -3

      You are a bit confused
Aldi doesnt sell 365 day plans

Signed up just 4 days ago. Recharged onto it via the app there are a bunch of 365 options

        • +1

          Very nice!
          I must agree
          Must be a new one
Could not find it on thier web site.

          My applogies.
Definitely the best option for a $120 60GB plan in that case.

I found the Telstra wholesale network provided exellent coverage everywhere I travelled up and down the NSW coast whilst I was on Belong and then Woolworths mobile. (Vodafone/Kogan was absolutely hopeless)

But the Optus network has equally as good coverage these days and most Optus MVNOs are quickly getting access to 5G as well. Probably no chance of that happening on the old Telstra 3G/4G wholesale network which Aldi uses unfortunately.

        • Can you tell me how to sign up for this one? I just bought a $5 sim from an aldi store and activated it. But I cannot see any options for these super packs to recharge.

    • ALDI only Yabadabadooooooooooooooooo a $165 365 Day Sim.

Not sure how your math is mathing….
Comparing the Catch (via Finder) 120GB ($119) vs Aldi 138GB ($165)
is not $20 more, nor is it 5.5c extra per day.

      • +1

*maths, not math. Unless you like to use North American English ;)

        • Hahaha damn you replied before I could revise my original comment….. How dare you! (joking)

What I was going to add is:

ALDI only Yabadabadooooooooooooooooo a $165 365 Day Sim but it's only available to existing customers
So it doesn't even compare as it's not available to everyone, and even if it was, $165 for 138gb vs $119 for 120gb….

      • Hmmm Talk about doing the maths….

Compare with Woolworths Mobile which is $170 for 125GB.
So on ther surface a slightly better deal with Aldi - you get 13 GBs more for $5 less..

        However….
you dont get the 10% Off your grocery shop once a month.
Spend $100 once a month and save $120 over the 365 days.
So nett cost of Woolworths mobile for an avergae family person would be just $50 after the shopping discounts.
Even if you spend $50 once a month (which isn't hard) thats still $60 saved over the year for a net cost of just $110
Boom! That puts Woolworths mobile way in front

    • Can you get 5g on it?
The CIS says 3g and 4g only, but it may be out of date.

    • +1

You won't find the deal there. Must go via the finder.com link.

    • -1

Not sure why you got downvoted, you can get 5% cashback from topcashback at catch connect directly, which makes it a better deal.

      • +1

5% off $120 makes it $114. This deal is $99.

        • +1

They currently have $120 for 120gb on catch connect (60gb + 60gb bonus data).

But yeah if you just want 60GB then this is better, my bad.

  • +1

can anyone tell me when the plan needs to be activated by? planning on going overseas and then activate it when i come back

    • promo pricing ends 6th feb so try to activate within 30 days of that

      • within 30 days only when there are advertised inclusions. This one doesn't have any, so I don't think 30 days period holds here.

        • +1

Just spoke with the customer service. The SIM card can sit idle without being activated for 12 months. That makes the plan very flexible!

          • @mirzanr: I just spoke to them via chat and they said they guarantee that it will activate within 30 days and they'll process a refund if it doesn't.

They also said it "MAY" activate within 24 months of purchase but they can't guarantee that and they won't process a refund if it doesn't work after the first 30 days and before the 24 month time period post purchase.

            • @bdl: Clearly they are giving different pieces of information to different customers. The deal says:

"Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions."

There are no "inclusions" in this plan, just a discount.

I intend to activate it after 30 days of purchase, so would update the forum about the outcome.

I remember my last yearly plan was $60 for 60gb with amaysim. Hope his deal comes back

    • +5

      That ship has sailed.

Amaysim now only have 2 long term plans and both of them are poor value. Even a major sales on them would only bring them to just okay value.

      https://www.amaysim.com.au/sim-plans/12-month-sim-plans

Similar story with other Optus MVNOs, like Coles Mobile and Catch Connect.

It's a bit of a shame. I was expecting the opposite after their reputation took a hit after the outage. Typically big telcos have big pockets and are willing to dish it out to retain at least some of their customers when a major crisis like that happens.

    • I got offered $90 to renew another year with Amaysim so that looks like it's as good as it gets these days.

  • +1

I think the coles mobile still comes up on top given 5k flybuys points technically bring the total value from 125 down to 100 dollars and you get 120 gb plus international call - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/826234

    • Any discount on shopping included?

    • +2

I agree. However, I think the flybuys points is only applicable once per flybuys account. I needed 2 Sims so ended up getting one with Coles and one with catch.

  • is catch full 4g optus network? currently on aussiebb 4g sims

  • +1

    Thanks aamessi

    • +1

      That's just messilly

  • From the Catch Connect CIS https://catchconnect.com.au/home/page/critical-information:
"Unused plan inclusion data does not rollover even if you recharge before expiry"

  • +2

I've just done a year with Catch, 25% discount for a renewal so $112.50 for 120Gb/365. Pretty good, I live in the (real) country, (- more than 300km from a capital) and have had no issues with the Optus coverage.

  • +2

For those interested, I'm with catch on 60Gb 365 plan… and each year they offer me to renew for $90 (25% off standard price $120). So I've just been renewing for $90 /year. Easy.

    • Do you renew on the day it expires or a few days before?

    • They didn't offer me (late 2023) so I switched to vodaphone deal (which is no longer available). Now need to find cheapest no data 365 day one… $5 ALDI PAYG plan is the best I can find. Anyone have a better option?

      • +2

        Amaysim $10/year https://www.amaysim.com.au/sim-plans/28-day-sim-plans/as-you…

The Aldi ones are no longer $5 a year because the initial $5 only lasts 60 days now

        • Interesting - how do you find this $10/year Amaysim plan from the website?
Is it just a hidden link that you need to know about somehow?

          • @Gaz1: I just knew about it prior to looking for it

    • +1

I'm on the same plan but was not sent this offer prior to renewal. When I contacted support, they advised that as I'd already had this offer the previous year I could not be offered this deal again 🙁. I ended up with a $10 discount (paid $110).
