not bad with the international included.

  • +13

Pretty nice deal but Optus network, so I'll pass.

    • +12

Optus is actually better than Telstra where I live so I guess it depends on your location.

    • +3

They have had about 25 hours of downtime in the last 35,000 hours I've been with them. Not too bad

    • +1

I live in Sydney and diven up and down the NSW coast.
No problem anywhere with Optus network. (Amaysim/Catch)
      Same with Telstra Wholesale network.(Belong/Woolworths)

      But Vodafone (Kogan)
OMG. Totally useless outside of Syney

  • Would existing customers need to churn out in order to use this?

    • +2

yes, recharge is 20% discount which is not bad

      • I heard 20% discount is gone

        • +2

Still available in my Cole Mobile app, 365 day recharge for $96, my recharge date is in April

          • @jmc787: Lucky you…. i recharged mine last week for yhe full amount… no discount.

        • I've had that for the last couple of years but haven't received anything on a recharge discount this time.

      • Good to know !

    • how do you buy this?, is it online?

  • Do any of these 12 month plans allocate data per month? Or is it always just in one big hit at the start?

    • I’m on Kogan and you can choose to have a monthly allocation or all the data. However, unused data does not roll over.

      • Well you should've chosen all the data at once. You never know you'll need more data during one month than the next. I have 500GB data with Kogan for $120/year. It was great during the EOFY sales I doubt it'll be that cheap this year.
Fingers crossed I can get $150 for 500GB.

    • +1

120GB at the start. If you use it all up, you'll need to recharge- just like with all (most?) 12 months prepaid.

    • Big hit.

    • Big hit. Good thing is they have 50gb rollover.. so 170gb in total.. which i never use up.. given most usage is through home wifi

      • Are you sure about that ?

        • About the rollover? I am sure because it shows up on my data balance..

    • Coles is lump sum over the whole year with rollover of unused data up to 50GB

  • It’s 120 from start

  • +4

There is a 20% discount on recharge vouchers as well.

    • Where is that?

      • +1

Shown on the right side of the flyer. " Get 20% off $20, $150, $200 Coles Mobile Recharge Vouchers. "

    • I'm on a legacy $120 yearly plan expiring soon which I'd rather keep. Would I be able to buy 6 x $20 recharge vouchers and use those to renew?

      • +1

I don't think it works like that.

I have the same - was wondering why I didn't get the 20% discount for recharge this year.

There is no $120 or $150 plans on their website now. I think this is the last chance to get on the $150.

I am considering switching to Woolworths. $100 60 GB but no Int'l calls, which I don't use.

        • Wow when did they remove the $120 plan?

          • @vawiyoci: “New customers will no longer be able to purchase the $120 plan from 9 November 2023.”

            • @try2bhelpful: Thanks. Wondering if they'll still keep offering the annual 20% discount for recharges a month before expiry.

              • @vawiyoci: Didn’t happen for us. We even asked about getting the discount going to one of the new plans and they said no. I went to Boost and the man went to Amaysim.

                • @try2bhelpful: All good then just another thing to churn in order to keep chasing discounts/best prices lol.

        • I can only find Woolies $100 60 gb but with 180 days expiry. The cheapest yearly is $170 for 125 gb.

      • I also have a sim on the $120 yearly plan. With this $150 plan selling for $125 and bonus 5000 flybuys points (worth $25) that means this one is effectively $100 for the year. If it stacks with COLLECT15 that would make it even better. It would be a viable alternative, except this has to be activated within 30 days of purchase, so would have to time it right, allowing for time to port out and back in etc.

        • Mu mum also have $120 plan, expiring end of this month, so how do you port out & port in with the same Coles Mobile ?

          • @dajiska: I'm porting to a different provider. Probably Vodafone. $10 sim sells for $4 at Coles when on special. Has unlimited calls and about 4gb data for 7 days.

      • Do you have the Cole Mobile app installed ? In my app my $120 plan is available for recharge at $96 (-20%)

        • can u pliz tell me how this recharge vouchers work on an existing prepaid $120 plan , as mum has this plan which will expire end of this month. I coud not find anything on the app!
Also how much data do you get off the recharge vouchers?

          • @dajiska: no idea i'll be recharging mine using the app. heres a screenshot of the app recharge screen https://ibb.co/p3tHYws
anyone with an existing $120 plan should be able recharge it using the app instead of using a voucher

          • @dajiska: I found this web page that talks about using the vouchers.

            https://www.colesmobile.com.au/home/page/recharge

I’ve never tried. In the past I just used to get the discount with the app as well. We were old plans and they wouldn’t give us a discount to move across so we went elsewhere.

This is weird because the example shows the receipt with Euros. I would come in via the app.

        • Where do you see that in the app?
On Android, if I click [Recharge now] I see: https://i.imgur.com/TtuCVN0.jpg (is there another confirmation screen after clicking "OK"?

          • @Thrift: @jmc787 - I do not see that in coles mobile app.
I actually see the same as what @Thrift sees

            • +1

@dajiska: There is a marketing prefernces section in the app, try turning that on if not on already and wait for a few days

            • @dajiska: I never got a discount offer to recharge, despite having email and SMS marketing preferences set for the whole year.
Rather than recharge the $120 60GB plan at full price, I instead bought a $150 120GB recharge voucher from Coles for $120 (20% off) and get to hunt deals this time next year.

              • @Thrift: @Thrift if you don’t mind me asking, what’s the expiry on the recharge voucher?

                • @awesomedude: Expiry 29/12/2024, bought yesterday.

                  • @Thrift: Thanks @Thrift that’s helpful. Now to consider if I should buy one ahead of time for later in the year.

                    • @awesomedude: A quick survey of recharge voucher validity periods people have previously posted:

                      • @Thrift: @Thrift interesting. For a digital voucher I would have thought the expiry would be uniform. Regardless looks like there is at least 10 months if not more, which is more than sufficient to in my case. Thanks!

  • Does anyone know if OTP works overseas (without roaming)?

    • +1

From my current exp, no issue at all

    • In Singapore, India and Indonesia worked for me

    • Yes, have travelled around US, Europe and India with no issues whatsoever.

    • +1

Roaming is enabled, and they can't charge incoming messages, so OTP works fine.

    • Yes in Vietnam without roaming.

    • Yup. Just used it in Malaysia and Hong Kong

  • Do you buy this online? Finding the site hard to navigate

  • Will I get 10,000 points if I buy two?

  • Can I pay with coles E gift cards?

    • +1

      Should be.
I redeemed my Woolies points to buy Vodafone SIM.

    • Only if pay by full.

If you make split payments using Coles eGift card, it will pop up an error, the same error when you try to buy gift card using gift card.

  • Does it have to be activated within 30 days or can you hold off for longer? My current plan doesn’t expire until May

    • It says that in the T&C so I would not risk it. The plan potentially making a comeback anyway. I wished I got them last year when it was between 100-120

    • +2

just checked with Chat, as long as you activate within 24 months. i have saved the screenshot to dispute later if it is not.

    • I just activated a $120 Coles mobile purchased 21.12.2020. I feel lucky this worked for me but can't guarantee it worked for everyone.

  • eSim available? couldn't find it on their site or google

    • Not that I last checked. The only one that offers eSIM is Woolworths mobile. That's why I switched over last year.

    • No

    • amaysim and kogan have esim

  • -5

Bad network and don't give 10% discount that Woolies does … So what's the point?

    • This deal is not for you then.

    • +2

Yeah but Woolies doesnt support Australia so…ya know.

        • +8

Not the day they 'came to this land', and no Aborigines were killed on that day either.
Maybe you should research what you are so upset about.

            • +1

@SydBoy: They didn't 'enter' on that day either.
              Try again.

              • -7

@Almost Banned: read and learn and this is only one research there are many available online so first learn to google and then start reading massacres created by those came from UK and now ignorant present generation want to celebrate the day as Australia day to change the shameful history by celebrating 26th January as Australia day… !!!

                https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/mar/16/almos…

                • +3

@SydBoy: Nope. wrong again. Jan 26 is not the day 'those came from UK' either.
You really aren't very good at this, are you?
But still outraged at a date you have no clue about…

                  • -5

@Almost Banned: You can remain ignorant to history but history won't change…. People who came from UK did the massacre… Fact and pure fact no matter how much individual try to change

Abstract from Australian government page :

By the 1830s, frontier violence around NSW had become so widespread that the murder of Aboriginal people by British colonial stockmen, settlers and convicts was generally accepted, despite British law clearly articulating that it was a crime punishable by death.

                    https://www.nma.gov.au/defining-moments/resources/myall-cree…

Just one article on history.. !

                    • @SydBoy: And you are not very familiar with history if you are not aware that people were prosecuted, convicted and executed for the Myall Creek Massacre in 1838.

                      • @Almost Banned: prosecution by who under which law? convicted by who under which law?

how dare they put their flag on someone else country and claim that their law will be implemented and people celebrate that day even today? that shows level of education that was feed into young generation.

British manipulated law to implement their law unfairly on aboriginal which is followed by massacre and killing of aboriginal people and that is the history and it is shameful that young generation in this country are not taught history of massacre and brain washed to believe people were prosecuted and convicted and executed … it was pure massacre on the name of the law !

A real apology should have come from the Queen to aboriginal people not from the Australian Prime Minister …. !!!

read below and educate yourself… !!

                        https://lsj.com.au/articles/uncovering-the-truth-of-our-lega…

                        • +1

                          @SydBoy: You are a joke.
First you claim that Jan 26 is the day the British came to this land. That was wrong.
Then you claim it was their entry day (whatever the hell that means). Wrong again.
Then you claim again that they came on that date. Still wrong.
Then you claim that massacres of indigenous people were accepted. Which is again wrong as several perpetrators of the Myall Creek massacre were convicted and executed for their role.
Now you are claiming that - if I can interpret your position, is English not your first language? - the whole system of law this country operates on is invalid because you reject European settlement entirely? Well that's funny. Do you also reject speed limits, land titles and banking???

                          • @Almost Banned: the whole system of law this country operates on is invalid because you reject European settlement entirely

This is a sovereignty question. International norm is still 'might is right' and nothing can be done until someone challenges Australia's sovereignty.

Hutt river case is an interesting one to look at.

                          • @Almost Banned: So basically you accepted you are wrong and that feeling of guilt is in your response….well done now learn to accept past mistakes done by those who forcefully occupied this land from Aboriginal…!

Basically if European forcefully occupy other country then it is called "settlement" but if the same is done middle eastern or Chinese or Russian or any other nations then it is called "invasion"…. LoL 😂 … the hypocrisy of western world… 😁

Read this article again and learn the history…on how law was unfair to Aboriginal population….! How many killed by British colonies…!

                            https://lsj.com.au/articles/uncovering-the-truth-of-our-lega…

@SydBoy: I don't feel any guilt about what I did not do.
I don't believe in collective guilt, and I certainly do not believe in inherited guilt.
Nor do I believe in inherited rights to compensation.
You do not get to claim anything was done to YOU if it was actually done to your great-grandparents, and I do not have to take the blame for anything done by my great-grandparents.
Settlement or colonisation is just a fact. It is part of history and it happened all over the world at various times.
In exactly the same way I am not harping on about the injustices of Romans occupying Britain, or the Vikings, no-one else should be bleating about being colonised.
If you can hold onto your land. Great. If you can't, you are bound to lose it.

                              • +2

@Almost Banned: Hypothetically, imagine Australia was taken over by another country in 2024; since Australia was settled by force, any new settler has just about the same moral rights to settle by force. They can have no guilt in doing so based on the logic 'history just happens'.

To be fair it's not just western countries that settle by bruteforce or other less than honourable tactics. Han vs Taiwanese Indigenous, Jew vs Arab… there is a whole can of worms to play with. Modern ethnic groups are all 'winners' at one stage in history

Life becomes difficult for ANYONE when looking deep in the mirror… lol

                                • +1

@YRT: Your argument is flawed - but if Australia were successfully invaded and colonised by another nation and that nation imposed their authority and laws on it I guess I have two choices.
I can moan about how unfair life is, how unjustifed the conquest was, and how I deserve special treatment because I have been conquered OR I can accept the reality of life as it is, and move on adjusting to the reality as it stands.
It is only Western society and thinking that awards points for victimhood - most societies don't revel in being on the losing side.
And you are completely wrong about 'modern ethnic groups' being all winners. They have all been both winners and losers at various times - but haven't just sat around moaning about it.

                                  • +1

@Almost Banned: In that scenario, you perhaps have no choice - think those Israeli and Gazan civilian lives lost. Dead man does not talk. Sovereignty is always a brute force.

                              • +1

@Almost Banned: The more you write the more you expose your lack of education and gross ignorance & denial to what was done by the British and I may assume you might have connection to that land.

You can't be responsible or guilty of wrong doing of past generation but instead of arguing to support wrong doing by past generation what you should be doing is acknowledging past mistakes and gross inhuman act of past generation and then try to encourage and support future generation for better understanding of history as ignoring or denying is not going to change history and it will only lead to more toxic thoughts that continue to argue in support of the wrong doing well written in the history book by the British to the aboriginal people in Australia.

Settlement or colonisation isn't fact but it was invasion and cruel massacre of innocent people done in the day light openly and then claimed the country as theirs … but history can't changed so at-least acknowledge and live with the correct history.

                                • -1

@SydBoy: Wow - english really isn't your forte, is it?
I have not 'denied' a single historical fact - but you have.
Settlement and colonisation IS a fact. Get used to it.

                                  • -2

@Almost Banned: Classic evidence of the bully when things get's hard they turn to change topic … so since you changing topic …. you finally agree you were wrong all along and accept that British people killed aboriginal people in Australia and did the invasion on someone's land to be claimed as theirs and even today some idiot who didn't study well of the history argue against the cruelty of the past generation .. !

It wasn't settlement or colonisation but it was invasion and forceful occupation of someone's land same as what Russia doing in Ukraine … unless you think Russia also doing settlement and colonisation of Russians in Ukraine … lol 😂

                                    • @SydBoy: If Ukraine can't hold onto their land - they will lose it. Just like has happened innumerable times before in history, including here.
It is just fact - get used to it.

                                      • +1

@Almost Banned: Ukraine has army and weapons to fight but what was done here in Australia against Aboriginal People by the British was called "Massacre" where meaning of massacre is "A massacre is an event of killing people who are not engaged in hostilities or are defenceless. It is generally used to describe a targeted killing of civilians en masse by an armed group. "

Hence what happened in Australia is called Invasion not the settlement or colonisation as people try to call it to change the shameful history of Britain and celebrating any day when those British putting their flag on someone's else land is celebrating invasion ……. !!!

                                        • +1

@SydBoy: Sorry - are you saying that if one side's weapons are inferior, then an invasion is no longer an invasion? That's ridiculous.
Indigenous people like to paint their forebears and strong warrior types - until it comes to confronatations with the English - when they magically turn into peace-loving hippies sitting around campfires singing Kumbaya.

History of atrocity, massacre on aboriginal by the British is well written in the history books that are sitting in the government library so if it was the conspiracy theory then it wouldn't be there … so the fact is that the land was occupied forcefully, people were ordered to follow queen's rule, massacre happened, Australia had White Australia policy and even today Australia is in commonwealth and people who don't know history want to celebrate Australia day on 26th January … and most probably they are the one who support Pauline Henson… !
