Pro tip: you don't have to use every offer published here. :)

    • +2

Care to elaborate for us amateurs?

      • +5

The concept is very simple: if the price is good but you don't need the thing - do not buy. :)

For example, just 5 random recent deals:
        - LAMY Safari 216 Modern Red Ballpoint Pen $16.77 Delivered
        - GoPro HERO12 Black $582 Delivered
        - Foldable Treadmill Red $299.99
        - HP USB Wired Keyboard KU-1156 $7 Delivered
        - 70% off Large Gift Tin with Rawson Wine $40.50 + $12.50 Delivery

I gave them a miss. And I am Ok with that. :)

        I might buy them tomorrow.
NO is temporary. YES is forever. )

Such a savings guru! This is the way to save for a house (deposit) guys!

Probably not directly relevant but which is better - Flybuy or Everyday Rewards? Some say WW usually follows the next week…? Anyway, just curious which is better as I have never dive into the details before.

    • It's not true that, for example, WW is following Coles or vice-versa. They both often run these promotions.

As for the programs and which one is better, it really depends on your use case. Everyday Rewards gives you Qantas points while Flybuys gives you Velocity points. Look at your travel plans and see which airline offers better availability for rewards seats in your routes, then start saving the points.

      • +1

wanted to add on to that, that while they get you points that can be converted to points with either Qantas (with WW) or Velocity (with Coles) program , with Coles you also get Velocity status credits based on spend, this is separate to the points (up to 10SC per flybuys account per month).

For example, I always get status credits from Coles and this forms part of my status strategyu with Velocity, I have lots of Velocity points already so generally leave the points in FlyBuys and only convert some if there is a particular bonus I want to take advantage of. (Often they just pay for groceries or petrol as I have plenty of velocity points).

my WW spend autoconverts to QF points since I just use that to keep the account ticking over and active, as I don't use them as often.

Can you use gift cards on Apple Education store?
Thinking of stocking up as my son is looking forwrd to upcoming iPad refresh in March April

    • +3

Yes, you redeem them to your account, and then buy through the Education store using your account balance.

Is that recent scam where they cut the bottom of the packaging and swap out the card inside still going? I've been very reluctant to buy any Apple gift cards since then.

    • Please elaborate on how this scam works? I've never heard of it. Is it so the card inside the 'packaging' is different to what is scanned and paid for outside? So they just wait till someone pays for it and then redeem the code?

      • +15

Correct. Here's a simple guide I made to show you how to check if your card has been tampered with in this way.

        • Thanks for that, very sneaky of them.

        • thanks, that will be handy to know.

        • So you have to open it to check…
Do we have to open all of them before paying now?

        • +2

Just rip open the package and make sure everything is in order before you put it through the register. You’re buying it anyway, best to make sure you got the item you paid for unless it’s actually being used as a gift??? But who the hells doing that? Lol

So I went to Coles bought 5 x $500 (variable) $2500. Was charged $2500 went through on Flybuys. However on the receipt 2 of the cards said declined and the other 3 said approved for the transaction. Service Desk had to swap out the cards for ones that said approved when activated.
The difference between the cards was the approved ones had a number that ran full length of the barcode. The ones that were declined were missing the numbers in the middle third, just a blank space.

          • @woyoyondie: May I ask you whether you got the x20 Flybuys point after you buying variable prices of apple gift card? Thank you in advance.

            • @hwangsoojung: Over 2 days I purchased 4 x $500 cards (variable) and 10 x $100 cards and 1 x $20 card. I have received more than 60,000 points. 50,000 yesterday and 10,100 today. Good luck finding variable cards.

        • They wouldn't let me open to check before I put money on it. My understanding is that they use the serial on the packaging to put balance on and if I then open it afterwards and the card doesn't match the serial, that means I've just added the balance to the card already in the scammers possession? Haven't bought variable giftcards before, could use some advice about what the checkout process.

          • @lumunes: make sure you check the receipt on purchasing that next to each card it says "approved", check the number at the bottom of the barcode on the back of the gift card pack is one long number and not two shorter ones separated by a large space. And that the seal has not been tampered with.

  • nice, been waiting for this to come back.

  • Is 10% the best on Apple gift cards?
    Has it been higher?

    • Not been higher for a few years I don't think - not without combining deals at least.

e.g. 5% off prepaid credit cards converted into 10% off gift cards at JB or something like that.

      • +1

        Was 15% last March.

        • Waiting for them to do it again.

        • Ouch. Not sure should I stack now or wait.. all rumours point to new iPads in Mar

  • Correct me if I am wrong…
2.5k worth of card per day per account. Right?

    • Is that Apple ID account when purchasing Apple product or Coles/Flybuys when buying the cards?

      • Per Flybuys account.

        • Thankyou, haven't used giftcards before and am looking at buying from the Education webpage. I did notice that if you check out as guest you can put the cards in there as opposed to the earlier response that you needed to load them onto you apple id first.

          • @woyoyondie: I think there’s a limit to how many cards you can use per transaction. Which is why people preload cards into their Apple balance for big purchases instead of using 16x cards.

  • Are variable value cards included in this deal?

  • Can you buy these through the self service checkouts or do you need to go to the service desk? (my Coles very rarely has a staffed checkout open)

    • +1

Pretty sure staff member will have to put them through even at self checkouts.

      • Ah okay that's fine as long as they can do it at the self checkout just didn't want to get stuck there :)

  • So I went to Coles bought 5 x $500 (variable) $2500. Was charged $2500 went through on Flybuys. However on the receipt 2 of the cards said declined and the other 3 said approved for the transaction. Service Desk had to swap out the cards for ones that said approved when activated.

    • I have same experience that both $500 card declined on activation. It seems like old batch of cards or something .

Total waste of time as service desk not sure what to do and call Coles customer service etc

Wondering if anyone else has same experience

How long does it take for the points to reach your account? I purchased gift cards last night, when should I expect to get them?

    • +1

The following evening after your qualifying purchase.

  • I went to my local Coles store last night to purchase 2 x $500 Apple GIft cards but, weirdly, there was no signage regarding the 20x points at all. In the past, I've noticed that there are large banners across the top of the gift cards section, as well as mini banners (eg. bouncy cards) stuck to the sides of the area. I also checked the latest Coles catalogue online but I couldn't find any mention of the deal there too.

With the lack of signage and catalogue mention, I enquired at the customer service desk and the person behind the counter seemed a little unsure about whether this deal was actually active/legit this time around. I asked her if I proceeded with the purchase and the bonus points didn't arrive, could I go back at return the cards and she confirmed this would be ok.

Either way, I'm not feeling hugely confident I should have dropped $1k on these right now.

    • +3

My points came through later on the day after purchase. Purchased $3k of cards over two days and am now $3k poorer, the daughter has a macbook air on order and I have received 60,000 points.

  • just got a $30 card at Coles, activated with no issues and came with 2 months Apple TV+. win.

  • +2

bought $4000 worth of gift cards and received 20 times points.

Also, if anyone planning to buy mac/apple products try calling/chatting with apple for price match. Officeworks /Good Guys have apple products on 10% off. which apple will price match and then 10% additional off with these gift cards deal.

I got new Mac with 20% discount than listed price.

if you're wondering, Yes Apple does price match up to 10%. call 133-622 (133-MAC).

if you have already made purchase try calling apple anyway, they might refund price match amount.
