looking at moving from laptop gaming to desktop gaming. What are some upgrades I should look at? RTS, FPS, RPGs with the old guilty pleasure OSRS on the second monitor

    • +1

Anything listed will be an upgrade. I'd suggest a gsync compatible screen to go with it.

    • Maybe RAM if you're looking to get yourself set for another 3-5 years, and ofc storage depending on how many you want to load up at one time. Otherwise they're all very solid units depending on your overall budget which is bound by CPU+GPU

  • For "B650 WiFi MATX motherboard (MSI B650M Gaming WiFi in use)" does the mobo itself have built in WiFi, or does it need an external usb WiFi adapter to be able to connect to WiFi?

    • +1

You’d find the answer if you chucked the model name/number into google… but yes, it’s built in to the mobo.

Its a fair question though as Techfast did a "OR USB-WIFI PROVIDED" in a previous deal…

I paid on Feb 23 for a system that advertised 5-10 business day dispatch.

No updates yet, but the same spec system (barring the SSD) is now listed on your site for 1-3 day dispatch? What's going on?

    • +8

I ordered on 19th Feb, also waiting for shipping (just short of 4 weeks now).
The good news is that I did receive replies from Zac, Caleb and Luke who were responsive. They advised the reasons for the delays were due to: they were waiting on standard parts (eg. Power Supply) and an Adelaide public holiday.
I'm in no rush, but for transparency it would be good if it was advised on this community that they may need to order in the standard parts before they can build and it may take 25+ calendar days before they ship rather than the 1-3 business days dispatch as per website.

      • Yes mate I ordered on the 18th Feb and I still haven't received any shipping details yet. Bit out of the 5-10 business day estimate I would say haha

    • +8

same boat as me, cant understand why they are advertising new deals when cant even ship out old deals in the times frames they state on the website when purchasing

      • +9

Selling builds with parts they don't actually have. Not a real good business model.

    • +1

I would need an order number to know exactly which PC this relates to, but generally speaking 1-3 business day dispatch applies to PCs sold at a full price.
Given the public holiday here yesterday an order from Feb 23 is today business day 11, which I can see is outside our estimate. We’re expecting to be back within the estimate this week. Apologies for the delay, as always orders outside estimates can be cancelled.

  • +1

I gonna buy a PC soon, i'm thinking the 3rd on the list with RAM upgrade
    OR
    https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/sv-127-47s-siren-vortex-e…
    (also with ram upgrade)

bpctech seems to dispatch faster than techfast, as per all the reviews on online.

  • +5

Same boat here- Ordered on the 22nd and no shipment yet. This seems a little like a massdrop/group buy sort of deal. They collect up the payments then use that cash to order the parts? Like I get that it's cheap (and this IS OzBargain) and delays are expected so it's still worth it, just would appreciate the transparency or a build progress indicator on your order. Also annoying to see the same configuration advertised in a subsequent deal 20 bucks cheaper a couple of weeks after ordering and yours still hasn't shipped yet.

    • Ouch…

      Cc: @luketechfast

      • +2

I'm assuming with this particular batch of orders in Feb there's been a supply issue with an upstream wholesaler on a required part or something, I don't think anything nefarious is going on but yeah perhaps I'm just unlucky in this instance?

        • +1

It would be unlucky if there weren't similar examples on every post. I'm in a similar boat to you.

For all the rules OzB has I don't quite understand why there isn't just some sort of system about ensuring realistic dispatch times. If it's 10-15 days etc that's fine - but let people know so they can make an informed decision.

          • +1

@BLB1984: I live in Melbourne and decided to pay more and buy from BPC for this reason…

When i asked around, they gave me 2 weeks as ETA but they finished in 4 business days and I was able to pick it up instead of waiting for further delays from shipping etc.

            • +1

@meong: Nice. The moment I hit 10 days if it isn't dispatched I will be asking for a refund and I will look at other options. It's really the only thing you can do is vote with your feet.

    • +5

Fully take on board this and other feedback we receive around dispatch times. 5-10 business days holds for the vast majority of orders, and is always provided as an estimate given the complexity of PC supply chains at these price points. I can see there are more orders than normal outside this period, leading to more comments in the higher boat as everyone is absolutely valid in doing and I wouldn’t dream of suggesting otherwise - even so this is only a small percentage of the volume shipping on time. I fully acknowledge this doesn’t mean very much to those whose PCs are outside the estimate and we’re doing everything we can to get back inside and anticipate that being this week.

      • +2

Fair enough - appreciate the acknowledgment of it

  • What guys, what motherboard brands are being used in the R5-7500F?

Just here to say I bought the 4070 super deal in January and was super happy with it. Communication was great and it shipped ahead of the ETA.

  • Difference between AMD Ryzen 7500F and Intel Core i5 14400F?

    • Very little tbh

  • @luketechfast hey mate any update on when the Feb version of the 14400f build will be sent out? Will the new March update mean you will delay so that you can send Feb and March out in bulk? Cheers

    • Definitely no delaying batches planned, just working through afap

  • +3

    Hey all!
Just providing my experience - they took about a month to deliver (4070ti).

Please ensure you run PC tests (temps etc) on your PC before throwing away the original packaging.
PC worked fine but temps were maxing out at 95 and bottlenecking. Turns out they forgot to apply the thermal paste to the CPU - had to disassemble and reapply the paste myself - or buy new packaging and send it back over.

Besides that all good, runs fine now!

    • Howdid you test thermals?

      • Prime95 + HWiNFO64

      • Just used various softwares (including HWmonitor) as the hot air was beaming out of the case haha didn't feel right.

    • +1

That's shocking quality control. What percentage of buyers will be able to make the diagnosis and apply a fix? Don't they do a system test run before sending it out?

One month!!! Gees, the prices look good but I don't think I can tolerate that. I would pay slightly more for better service. It would be interesting if you cancelled, that it would also be a fight to get the refund.

      • Honestly wasn't sure how it was possible either as it's a fundamental of PC building lol. That's why I thought I'd add my experience - just incase :)

To be fair, it was over the NY holiday period.
Not sure how that would go, customer service was really nice but no reasonable adjustments were made - would have had to purchase new packaging, send it back and wait potentially weeks to fix the error.

        • +3

Just wanted to chip in here and apologise publicly for this one - clearly not the state in which a PC should be sent. Also, you should not have been told to purchase packaging given the PC's fundamental issue, as you said, this would have been a perfectly reasonable adjustment on our end. I will ensure the CS team are aware of this and applying common sense in making it right when there has clearly already been a poor experience.

Hey @luketechfast, any option for the 7800X3D build to fit into a smaller, more work friendly case? Not interested in lighting and/or glazed viewing windows. Thanks

  • Which psu do you use if I upgrade to 750w?

  • TechFast vs NebulaPC

    • +1

In my experience, NebulaPC every day of the week. They got a PC to me within a fortnight of ordering and functioning great, as for Techfast read my post below.

  • +1

Hey @luketechfast if we choose to upgrade from A620 to B650 in the options of the first pc… which B650M is provided? and can we get one with WIFI e.g. MSI B650M Gaming WiFi as in the latter builds?

    • It's listed as the B650 rather than the B650 WiFi, so we would likely use the MSI B650M-P.

      • @luketechfast Any chance you could add an option for a motherboard with wifi to the Ryzen 5 7500F build? Looks like there are a few of keen on this option. Or even a motherboard with a second accessible PCIe so we could add wifi PCIe.

      • thanks @luketechfast

trying to understand - when I upgrade to B650, it says A second PCIE device (e.g. network card, installed post-purchase) will not fit with RTX 3070 graphics cards and above.

Does this render the PCIE slot useless? I wanted to put in a wifi and bluetooth card here.

Any workarounds? e.g. flexible relocater like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Cablecc-Express-Extender-Extension…

        • Cards these days often occupy more slots than there is space between PCIE slots on many MATX boards. As we often use different equivalent models according to what is available in volume in Australia, it's safest for us to say that the slot is inaccessible (sometimes the extra slot is above the main 16x slot so it's not a problem, sometimes it's 2 slots down where it is a problem).

That product you've linked is the right type of thing to make the slot usable, but I've never seen/used one and can't guarantee it will work for whatever you need for it. Essentially yes, large GPUs do render slots that are covered by it unusable (unless something like this does work!)

  • Any plans for more configs similar to your recent $599 & $699 builds?

  • Hey Luke, just want to know when you think my PC will ship. I ordered it on the 18th of February. Zac got back to my email last week saying it would ship last Friday or early this week however now it's gone past Wednesday and it's still not shipped.

    • @luketechfast

  • Hi Luke, I don't want to bring it here but I previously purchased the FEB deal, there is some not working parts and I need warranty.

Is this the right email to contact? "[email protected]" because mine haven't gotten a response for 3 days already.

    Many thanks!

  • +2

Sharing my recent and ongoing experience.

Ordered a PC on 18th Feb(Sunday Night), First thing Monday I get an email advising me that there was an error on the website that didn't calculate shipping. They asked if I was happy to pay the shipping to which I said sure thing and paid immediately.

Come Friday morning I had heard nothing so sent an email requesting an update on my order. That was responded to on Monday afternoon quoting the 5-10 business days and that I was on day 5. Ok then!

The next Friday (business day 10) I still had heard nothing so requested another update(in the morning). Midday Monday I had heard nothing still so sent another quick email to which I received two responses within the hour telling me that there was now a delay on the GPU and that they were expecting them in the arvo and my PC will be built ASAP. Not sure why this took over 10 days to let me know. The other email said that I must of missed their response and to check my spam folder. No lmao, timestamps don't lie!

That Friday I got the email that my PC had been posted. Finally!

    It doesn't end there!

Unpacked the PC, removed all the transport material and plugged it in. Beautiful lights and fans humming!

But no display… I cross checked every connection inside and out and tried again multiple times. Nothing
EZ Debug LED for GPU is on meaning either a Dead GPU or GPU not detected.

So in short it seems a GPU DOA. FUMING!
As well as this the way the GPU power cables were routed they were rubbing on the GPU fans and took me quite a bit of re-jigging the cables to stop this.

    • Yes I have emailed support but not expecting anyone to reply for a few days sadly.

    • Damn bro, that's a rough experience. I ordered mine on the 18th Feb and they still haven't even shipped it yet. Email response is slow. Hearing so many of these problems with the PCs after receiving them, has me scared that even after waiting 5+ weeks to receive it, I might have to ship it back straight away for poor build quality??

      • let me know how it is when you get it because getting mine in a week

    • I'd like to help get this resolved for you - can you provide me some specific details here or via PM?

  • +2

Just bought the R5-7500F with a few upgrades. Looking forward to it, hope all goes well considering some of the feedback on this post

    • what upgrades did you get if I may ask?

      • +1

Processor Cooling: DeepCool Ag400 Air Cooler
        Memory: 32GB [5200MHz] DDR5 RAM
        Networking: 600Mbps USB Wi-Fi Adapter

  • @luketechfast
Hey Luke, I see you responding to other customers who have ordered well after me and not replying to me.
I ordered the 4080 super deal on the 18th of February. Zac got back to my email last week apologizing and saying it would ship last Friday or early this week however now it's Thursday and it's still not shipped. Additionally no one is responding to my emails anymore. What's going on here?

    • Disregard, it finally shipped this afternoon.

    • +3

Apologies, not intentionally ignoring here. It is a challenge keeping track of every comment across multiple deals - PM is more effective if you need escalation. Glad to hear that it has shipped. Please do reach out via PM if you need anything else.

  • @luketechfast
do you guys build 7900 xtx systems?

  • Sorry to hijack your post OP, but just have a few questions, I recently purchased a Lian Li Vision 3 Black case with a Z73 AIO to build my first computer and just wanted to see if stores will ship just parts so I can put i all together. What would you recommend parts wise from your prebuilts if you do ship items individually for some 3D printing, bit of gaming (DoTa/CS)?

  • Hi Luke,

I've been trying to find some contact with you,

I ordered a PC and didn't realise it was Linux and want to change it to Windows 11, my order number is #TF4883884590

    Thanks
