Resistive and 2.2? You've gotta be kidding.

These 2.2 resistive tablets are so bad it could get you in trouble with child welfare if you let your kids use it.

  • A review would be good?? is it good?? the price is a winner cheap as chips, good for christmas present for kids?? any more info? thanks

    • i wouldn't buy one. Its running android 2.2 and has a resistive screen as mentioned above.

      • Agreed. If someone out there is really that keen to throw $50 away, just buy one of these http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83841 for $30 & send the other $20 to me! :p

      • The resistive screen isn't so bad, i had a phone with it a couple of years ago. it fairly responsive and you can use any pointy thing as a stylus(the back of pens, pencils and even finger nails). For games and programs where you have to tap or drag, it would be quite useful.

BUT, the problem is, everything in this thing is rather dated:
        1) the front camera is 0.3 mp - why did they even bother?
        2) the battery is 1800mah - not that great, even phones have higher, my year old SG Note has 2500mah
        3) procesor and graphics are no good
        4) and the MOST Important thing: the OS is Froyo (ANDROID 2.2) - good god thats old, basic rule of thumb when buying tablets is the OS should be 2.3 or higher

It may seem cheap for 49 bucks, but we're not going to get very much use out of it. And apparently its annoying to use and limited in other ways as well, here is what one user had to say
        http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/wondermedia-based/39156-…

My opinion: dont buy it unless you're a 10 year old buying it with your allowance.

It's slow, runs old version of software, low spec hardware and has battery smaller than some phones. Would be a waste of $49. Gift for your enemy if you like to see someone getting frustrated.

Hmm might have to get a few of these…

WM8650 tabs are freaking horrible, don't even consider.
You'd be better off getting the other previously posted A13 based tablet if you wanted something at this price
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83672

  • Woah. Really. This is not even worth it. You can get a A10 tablet with better screen at ~$55 now.

  • it may be one of the cheapest. but who wants it? the "professional" homeless guys working at the corner of george st and market st wont give a sxxt to it.

  • How does it compare to the Optus mytab?

    • +1

Optus Mytab would have better battery life, and it has 3G. Performance wise it'd be around the same.

  • Telstra would be more than happy to use these as the latest T-Hub.

  • Resistive tablets are that bad that there should be a general ban on selling any of them.

  • is this good for YouTube(ing) in the Bedroom?

    • Have you read what everyone has said above? Scotty has summarised it rather well.

    You're*

This deserves a millions negs. Resistive screen? Landfill material.

  • It ends up being around $8 for shipping (to sydney at least), so it really ends up being 57… Regardless of most anything else it still is an ok deal based on "how cheap can you get one thats actually in australia" (probably?). But you will almost certainly hate it.

My only other comment is that for around $65 (US including shipping) and even cheaper if you wish, you can turn to the chinese for tablets running allwinner chips clocked at double the speed, double the memory, capacitive and running android 4.0+… and you'll probably still hate them too.

Personally, im half tempted because im trying to find a tablet for an experiment that really doesnt need anything specific from the tablet itself aside from being android based and actually can boot and run. But "cheap" is the only real consideration and I want to get a few cause i'll probably destroy a few in the process.
