Great price if you're still rocking a lightening iPhone. Good find OP.

    • Damn officeworks stores are closed for PM

      • Don’t worry, there’s 373 in stock.

        • +1

I'm more worried that OW will update their price soon

          • @hopper: Oh true, good point.

        • Far out, only 15 left. Apparently not a deal to some.

    • +2

lowers your weight or the phone?

    • Mmm yeah that lightening iPhone, does wonders for the complexion.

    • Also Recharges well on the circulon stove top

  • +2

Please note this is not USB-C version

    • -1

S23 owner, I always wireless charge my airpods 2 using qi pad or phone reverse charge. This is only issue with iphone 15 owners.

      • +1

Not really - you can use iPhone 15 series to charge AirPods with USB-C->L/MagSafe cables

        • True!
I never use cable to charge airpods
Both iphone and airpods are charged through magsafe or watch charger if i am out and about

        • So i need to carry extra cable? But that defeats whole purpose of UBC C
I only carry 1 USB C cable to charge my phone while it's reverse charge the airpods/samsung buds/galaxy watch

  • I would be getting Officeworks to match the absolute snot out of this.. most cashiers don’t know the difference between lighting and usbc.

    • +4

They look at the model number in order to avoid this exact mistake. In this case, it is MQD83ZA/A.

      It's really not that cheap

  • Current airpods 2 user, which are comfortable in my ear, sometimes I forget that I'm wearing them. How are these compared to airpods 2 in comfort level?

    • +1

Very comfortable IMO, particularly when you find the right fit with the included tips. Sound quality is on another level. You can also buy Comply tips which make it even more comfortable: https://www.amazon.com.au/Comply-Compatible-AirPods-Small-Pa…

      • +1

I’m a big fan of the Comply tips but $50 for 6 tiny pieces of foam is taking the p1ss.

    • Non-pro Airpods don't have the in-ear tips like pro modesl do.

      So expect something completely different.

    • i use spinFit Superfine they are Medical Grade silicon, wearing all day now.

    • They must be very quiet if you forget that you are wearing them

    • You must have good ears for normal AirPods. Pros are more comfortable, they seal in your ear, are light so they don't shake out, and have active noise cancellation which silences all outside noise in most situations even if you don't have any sound or music playing.

    • I have airpods 2 and airpods pro 1.

If you like the open feel of your airpods, the pros will be less comfortable. But not as much as you'd expect with iems.
They are pretty good for in ears, because the transparency mode makes them feel very open, and the noise cancelling lets you mute the world when needed. As someone who likes the normal airpods, I'd say that the pros would be unappealing if they didn't have transparency, and they are pretty great because they have transparency+nc

That said, I have started using the regular airpods a bit more again lately. They have an edge in comfort in quiet situations.
If I lost both, I'd only replace the pros, but I'd still miss the regulars

Lightning port model for 300? Are they joking?!

    Not a deal at all

    • Could not agree with you more

    • Honestly asking, are they cheaper elsewhere?

      • +1

That's the thing, looking at the price history, it never has been cheaper than this and it probably never will. They're not going to give it away for half-price just because it has a lightening connector. Not everyone in Australia own an iPhone 15.

        • +2

You also need to exclude all those that are wirelessly charging like myself.

  • Costco was selling the USB C version for $339 recently but they have jacked up the price for the USB C model now to make this look like a fantastic deal

AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) With MagSafe Case USB-C

USB C version most likely will hit the $300 mark around EOFY

    • Yeah, the USB-C was on sale last week (I know because I got one). Ultimately, Costco seems to be the only store left with lightening stock and it's just a connector. Not sure what people think this should be selling for? Looking at the price history, I can't see if it ever dropped below $300.

    • wireless charge - problem solved

  • -4

You can get this for $200 on eBay delivered for a grey market version.

    • +1

Either that or you get a knock off and loose $200. IMHO not worth it for an item that should get constant use

    • -1

What if i need it last year?

  • -5

MicroUSB connection - very old tech

    • Nope, the case uses eneloop batteries that you can recharge and the pods uses button cells

  • +3

Damn - I bought the usb-c version for my mum last week but would have preferred the lightning one as her phone is lightning. Tempting to return the unopened one to Amazon and get this.

    Edit: I did that

    • I bought the usb-c version for my mum

      Now that's a good boy

  • +1

These or the Bose SE at $250 at JB? ANC the same? I guess they are different use cases since inner vs outer ear

  • Hesitant buying AirPods again after they made the noise cancelling piss weak on my AirPods Pro gen 1?

When I first got them I couldn’t hear people speaking in the same room as me, no I can hear people speaking a few bays behind me if I wear them in the office..

It even lets gym music in so I have to crank my music up and damage my hearing

    • My gen 2s haven't had that happen yet but it definitely happened with my gen 1s.

I went through a period of about 6-12 months where i bought maybe 10 or 15 earphones to find the right one for me. From cheap ones to expensive ones. Airpods, various sony models, jbl, jabra, everything. I'm not an audiophile and i dont really listen to music so i can't comment on sound quality. I listen to podcasts so i was mostly testing comfort, call quality, whether they fall out, touch controls and noise cancellation etc. I have a samsung phone so I couldnt take full advantage of the airpods, but the airpods pro 2 were by far the best one. The noise cancellation is unrivalled. I catch the train so i tested them all there. Even ones which are known for noise cancellation such as the sony dont come close in my opinion. Comfort is good. They dont fall out and the silicone eartip is a nice soft silicone. Not one of the those cheap thin ones on cheaper earbuds. The only downside to it is that because they stick out a little, they could be better for sideways sleeping on a pillow but there was two one i tested suitable for this. The galaxy buds live and the comfobuds mini. They basically get lost in your ear so perfect for sleep but dont expect much else. The controls on the airpods are also fantasic. They have a slide volume control and squeeze feature so you dont have to push them into your ear to press. You also have a clicky feedback when pressing unlike the touch controls of others. Even with a tiny delay, i would press, didnt think it registered because of the delay, then press again and end up undoing the action i first intended. Like a pause/play thing. Not the case on the airpods. In the end I returned I the airpods for one reason. Lighting charge. I always said i would buy them again when they upgrade to usb c and i did. Sure you can wireless charge but its much slower. You can't pop it on a wireless charge for 10 minutes, hoping you'll get a day out of it, but you can with a wired cable. If you have an iphone its no contest, but even with an android its worth it. There are 2 apps you can use which show your charge which androids dont natively do so you need the app. CApod or andropods. They do they whole show your charge level when you open the case.
