TA @ TopCashback Australia

Hey guys. So proud to share that after eight incredible years at Cashrewards and a well deserved three month break with family, I've joined the amazing team at TopCashback as its first full-time Aussie-based employee in the role of Customer Ambassador for its local conglomerate, TopCashback Australia. Established over 19 years ago, TopCashback is the leading cashback site in the UK with presence in many countries including Germany, France, USA, China, Spain, Italy, and now in its infancy in Australia. My goal is to support TopCashback as a global cashback leader and certainly help establish it as the most trusted & generous cashback provider in Australia.

I'll endeavour to negotiate and harness the best local rates, deals, and offers for its members, and provide second to none customer support. Apart from bringing you great deals, I will also be the eyes and ears as your store rep here on OzBargain. I established an enormous amount of good will and trust with members during my time at Cashrewards, and I'll do everything in my power to ensure this continues with TopCashback. I want to help make your cashback journey as seemless as possible.

So if you're not already a TopCashback member, join today, refer friends, and get ready for some fun & exciting times. All I ask is to please allow me a few weeks to settle into the new role. There's going to be a lot to learn and many new people to meet & talk to. In the meantime, please continue to reach out to TopCashback AU Rep for any queries you may have.

I'm pumped with anticipation & excitement for this new chapter in my life. Thank you as always for your support. TA.

    • How about different devices? That kinda sucks though because i usually just log in and out to make the pizza hut orders on my phone :(

  • Congratulations TA

  • Congrats TA! Wow, the CR announcement in 2015 has flown by!

    • Sure has. No idea where all the years have gone. And thank you.

  • +1

Absolutely FLABBERGASTED at this joyeous news, and absolutely echo everyone’s high praises for your opportunity to rejoin the cashback world TA! What made CR great was exceptionally your support as their rep especially for the ozb community! 💪
I have been holding back joining TCB but now pumped up to join hopefully via a great referral deal, now that you’re on board!
Thanks a million for your contribution and support thus far and here’s praying you coming back with renewed fervor for the foreseeable future 🙇🏻🙏
Keep up the amazing effort! Bless you and fam mate.😇

    • +3

Oh wow. This response has me somewhat embarrassed and emotional right now. What more can I say but thank you for the kind words. Makes everything so worth while 🤗

  • nahhh yeah lets (profanity) go !! woooo

  • yo lets gooooooooo

      where we going mate

Congrat TA. I have never considered joining TCB but now that you are on board, I will consider signing up for sure. All the best 👍

    • Legendary. Thank you!

  • Great news, congratulations on the new role TA. Looking forward to the magic TA can make happen at TCB.
Been using SB and TCB more then CR now, since lack of CR rep on ozb :)

    • CR is usually my go to for their upsized Sony cash backs, and for Apple as well… Now watching what TCB can offer…

  • +2

Grats TA, always love a good insider job 😁

    All in for TopArseBack!

  • +3

Am I the only one who's curious to know what kind of salary you can earn working as a cashback rep?

Congrats TA. I still remember reading your introductory message to CR 8 years ago. Time has flown by indeed.

    • Now I am curious

    • +1

That's why we are a Living Wage Employer, meaning we pay our team a meaningful wage to cover the demands of modern-day living.

Source. Based on that I'm going to say about $120k because ain't no way you could live on less than that.

      • +2

A Living Wage Employer means it may pay an employee in India at $12k p.a.

    • -1

I would assume it's commission based to a large extent so the better the deal, the more TA deserves!

    • I assume the role is similar to a Business Development Manager which pulls a decent salary. Glassdoor has a $130k average

      @idonteven @amsaini15 @Muzeeb @Neoika @DKC @Fobsessive

I had assumed TCB's rep was in Aus until I saw this UK ad a few months ago. Explains the timing of replies.
One of the cons in GlassDoor for TCB is low salary.

      • Don't know about TCB but I get UK headhunters contacting me with similar job description I am doing now, salary typically (after conversion) 2/3 what I am earning in Australia LOL

  • +3

Congrats TA, this is frickin amazing! Looking forward :))))

    • +2

Thank you ISP. This response has been so overwhelming. Doubt I’ll get any sleep tonight :)

  • +2

Is that a TopCashback or are we all just too happy ;)

Congrats on the new role TA!

  • Fantastic news for both TA and this community.

I will be joining TCB solely because of this.

    Congratulations TA!

    • Thank you :)

Not trying to dampen the mood too much..
But I signed up to Topcashback with the oodie deal and bought the oodie. Cashback says it never tracked tho and still waiting on an outcome with missing cashback. Could you look into this one for me please TA? (welcome aboard by the way)

Hi, per my post there’s not really much I can do until I gain full knowledge of the backend systems. In the meantime, please ping the other rep (link in post) and they’ll gladly look into it for you. Any issues beyond that, please come back to me and I’ll see what I can find out. Appreciate your patience. Thank you.

      • Thanks TA it looks like its been sorted. Looking forward to giving Top Cashback another shot now :)

        • Great feedback - they really are a great team. Thank you :)

  • Congrats TA, and best wishes for you & TCB to kick arse in Australia.

I have been using TCB a lot and finding it very good.

  • Congratulations @tightarse and all the best in your new position. It's great to see you back.

I've just given up on cashbacks with all 3 companies and wrote a ShopBack post.
Will have to reconsider TopCashback now that you are in charge :)

    • Thanks for the opportunity to win back a customer. I’m sure we’ll find a solution to whatever issue you may be experiencing. Take care and talk soon.

      • Thanks for the kind offer TA.

I haven't been using TCB recently but posted their deal last month for new members. TCB didn't plan well (limited stock) and orders also didn't seem to track correctly. I didn't want to waste anyone's time again and decided not to post anymore. It would be the previous rep's responsibility.

Now that you are the new rep, it's a different story, moving forward :)

  • Good stuff TA !
We know both you and Top Cashback will do well now

  • Congrats TA!

  • Congrats on your new journey.

Just curious how the non compete and NDA (if you were required to sign before leaving CR) would affect your role at TCB

I was honestly expecting you to start your own CB startup but you might be bound by a 3 to 5 year non- compete clause

    • Non-completes and other post-employment restraints are often difficult and expensive to enforce in most Australian states, with the exception of NSW, as our courts frequently find them to be unreasonable. The Restraint of Trade Act 1976 (NSW) makes them somewhat more enforceable in NSW.

      • +1

But we are talking about a Bank (owner of CR) who has plenty of cash and teams of solicitors 🤔

Can already anticipate ANZ lawsuits against TCB just because they think they can.

        • +1

Even so, with the exception of roles involving national security, 3-5 year restraints are considered completely unreasonable and effectively unenforceable in almost any court no matter how much money was spent nor how many lawyers were involved. Three months might be enforceable, depending on a number of other factors.

It is generally accepted in advanced economies that researchers have published enough evidence showing post-employment restraint clauses harm productivity, competition, and employee mobility. The trend is now to look at ways to further limit their effectiveness or outright ban them in countries like the US, UK, and Australia.

          • @toasty: I totally agree with you.
However that wouldn't stop them from chasing the former employee and new employer if any breach of agreement.
But I guess is the legal threats, wasted unproductive time, solicitor expenses and court hearings that you have to go to that would bother me. Which is why most people just honour the agreement.

            • @easternculture: Generally, except in the employment contracts of senior executives where enforcement is still more likely to succeed, these days post-employment restraint clauses are largely included in an attempt to control the masses of poorly informed employees through the unjustified fear the clauses create.

The Federal Government is still accepting submissions from the public on whether reform is needed until he end of May 2024: https://treasury.gov.au/consultation/c2024-514668

              • @toasty:

Generally, except in the employment contracts of senior executives where enforcement is still more likely to succeed,

If I'm not wrong, TA was part of senior management as the chief customer officer (CCO), hence my initial question lol

  • Well done @tightarse, they’re lucky to have you!

Wishing you all the best in your new role and looking forward to your TopCashback Australia deals. :)

  • Congrats on the new role at TopCashback! Excited for you and can't wait to see what you achieve there. Wishing you all the best!

  • +1

Congratulation! Maybe it's time to get a TopCashback account.

  • Nice one TA - congrats!

Glad to hear you took the 3 month break - so often people don't between big job changes and having a chance to get more than a couple of weeks to recharge, reset and spend some quality time with family is hard to come by.

I've only got Cashrewards and Shopback accounts but will look at TopCashback now.

  • I read that at first that you could get cashback on T&A and thought that was an odd deal :P

  • awesome news!! congrats!

  • Well done TA. It’s a win for everyone (well maybe not CR).

I’ve never had a complaint about CR but will be giving TCB a go.

    Cheers and good luck!

  • +1

Congrats TA! TopCashback AU is lucky to have you. Looking forward for the awesome Cashback deals.

  • Great news TA, can't wait for the deals to come flooding in.
Weirdly I just joined TCB the other day as it now seems to be the best option here in AU.
I assume it will only get better now…..

    • +1

I think SB is the best option at the moment. They have a better tracking backend and are backed by multi-billion dollar ventures.

TCB is still in its infancy in Australia. They have issues with the tracking backend, even in the UK parent company according to reddit posts. And I believe they have no investors backing them which is not necessarily a bad thing.

But regardless who they hire and the deals they offer , if they dont fix the small issues, they won't be sustainable in Australia

      • In my short experience, SB seems to be the best for gift cards and currently has the best deals (with the bank bonuses). However since the restructuring recently, SB has more tracking issues, still waiting to be resolved.

CR probably has the best tracking but very few good deals since the change of gift card provider and absence of TA.

TCB is new in Australia. I made very few purchases but still had tracking issues that were resolved slowly. Hopefully the company will evolve and TA can help to improve.

        • However since the restructuring recently, SB has more tracking issues, still waiting to be resolved.

That doesn't make sense assuming that tracking is managed by software on shopback backend and affiliate network.

I found that SB tracking is somehow correlated with the app not being updated (as they have frequent updates) and the wireless network you are using (some Router firmware acts like adblock software).

          • @easternculture: Yes, it's odd. Both tracking and T&Cs have been inaccurate with the change of staff.
E.g. T&Cs on BWS offer. New GYB was alerted. They couldn't copy and paste accurately

            • @trixieb: Maybe next time try updating app beforehand and using mobile data to purchase. That seems to resolve all my tracking issues

              • @easternculture: Thanks, will keep that in mind. Usually use mobile data.
One of the recent incidents (eBay) seem to have affected a lot of people and not easily fixed. GYB has replied the team is still looking into it.

      • Bit weird coming from someone who is the top poster for the site.

        • Like I mentioned before in my comments and TCB rep, I still support TCB and my comments are my feedback to them so they hopefully they see it as constructive and improve but I still have mixed feelings so will see.

I have limited my posts for TCB too until I see an improvement . For example, I was aware of the BWS 20% CB yesterday but didn't post it, offered it to a few other ozbargainer via pm but didn't make it to ozbargain

        • @HamBoi69 How do you find the store stats? I tried to find the stats for top posters for ShopBack but wasn't visible on the store page

  • Congratulations and thanks again for helping out a few times with cashrewards. All the best with the new journey.

  • Now this is some absolutely SMASHING news!!! So very happy for you TA, congratulations!! TCB clearly have an eye for customer service, and while it's CR's loss, it's TCB's gain! Stoked to have you back in a role you are very clearly suited for!

I'm looking forward to seeing more TCB deals (I cannot fault them so far) as they've got noticeably higher CB's in many ways.

  • Congrats TA!

  • CR's loss is TCB's gain.

Do you get to go to the UK for orientation, planning days, Christmas parties, etc.?

  • +1

Huge Congrats TA! Looking forward to the deals - I'm signing up to TCB just because of you :)

    • Cheers mate. Don't forget to use the $45/$15 referral promo TCB is running right now and add your referral code to the randomiser on OzB so you may get get lucky and receive free money when others join. All the best :)

  • Huge! All the best, TA!

  • Heartiest Congratulations, TA.
TopCashback is very lucky to have you, truly a very valuable asset to the organisation, and to our OzB community.
Thank you for everything that you've done, and will be continuing to do.

  • nice, maybe now I will use TCB.

sucks for CR though. who will be the new OzB rep for CR?

  • Congrats TA! Wishing you the best with TopCashback! Already have earned a new customer :)

  • The life of TA and the world of cashbacks should be a Netflix series.

  • Congrats @tightarse. May be now you have become Top TightArse. Good on ya mate.
Anyways, I havent used TCB much .. mostly stuck with CR and SB. But, I know u bring good offers. So lets see how this spuns out. May be Ill start usign TCB now. Who knows.

  • Is there a browser extension for Australian users in the works?

    • +2

      Yep. Coming very soon.

  • One thing I would like improved is viewing store clicks on mobile or the app (I believe the app just uses the web html view). On mobile you have to enable desktop mode to see the store clicks. You only get the tracked transactions on mobile/app.

  • Congrats TA! I feel better about the $60 TCB cashback I put a claim on

  • How good. I only recently signed up to top cashback and then was like, oh they don't have an app? They finally have an app now so will be more likely to use them. Looking forward to some great deals!

  • Awesome! Congrats and looking forward to more posts from you TA! Cheers =)

  • +1

Thanks for making cashrewards popular and helping us all out with cashback Do's/Dont's during your time there. You have been very helpful!

Looking forward to seeing what you bring to TopCashback in Australia, and I am sure it is going to be a great win for TopCashback having you onboard!

  • Just signed up to TCB! Congrats mate!

    • Thank you :)

  • Congratulations. Hope the process to get the surfahark cashback reduces from 12 weeks to half the time or less. I am still waiting since march 2024.

  • +3

Welcome to the team TA! We are so delighted to have you on our team and we are really looking forward to creating some cashback magic together! As @tightarse settles in, feel free to continue to DM us if you have any questions in the meantime :)

    • -3

Not being sarcastic, but it's a Bandaid fix to bigger issues the company has with cashback tracking and customer support.

It is a strategic move to make topcashback popular on ozbargain but I would be investing in network infrastructure to make tracking more reliable and your business sustainable in Australia.

Anyways, hopefully we will see improvement, I still have faith. Will continue to support you guys in the background

      • +1

@easternculture thank you so much for your continued support. It is very much appreciated. We always making moves to improve our service and give our members a better experience. So keep your hopes up and your expectations high.

    • Thanks so much! Looking forward to an amazing time. Let's do this!

  • Never really bothered with TCB given its UK base and CR, SB, but I’ll pay attention and use it a lot more thanks to TA is now their rep. Congrats TA!

  • Wow great new chapter - gratz TA! Looking forward to the deals!

  • Congrats TA! All the best.
