OK - now that I've got that out of my system…oh, and this better not be a dupe, cause it took me ten minutes to come up with that.

  • 1 nights accommodation plus return flight for 1 person, or 2 nights plus return flights for 2 people (linked booking) in 3.5 to 4 star hotel
  • $30 booking fee applies per person
  • The offer commences on 1 November 2012 and closes on 30 November 2012
  • Each Mystery Trip must be booked by 31 December 2012 and must be taken between 1 February 2013 and 30 November 2013 (inclusive)
  • Travel ‘blackout’ periods applying including the periods between 13 March 2013 and 18 March 2013 (inclusive) and between 28 March 2013 and 2 April 2013 (inclusive)

I bought 2 x 6 packs for $120, so for me and the wife, it is a total of $180 for 12 bottles of wine plus 2 nights accommodation with return flights :)

We scored ours over a public holiday, and friends have theirs booked in the school holidays.

Took about 7 working days from first sending off for the deal to getting confirmation of our dates of departure.

The guys from the bottle shop said the Jacobs Creek rep advised the trips from Perth will be with Virgin to Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne…not sure about other cities.

The stickers may be in an envelope under the counter, although most of my friends have found stickered bottles.

Looks to be 5 different varieties of Cool Harvest:

http://www.jacobscreek.com.au/wines/cool-harvest

It's also advertised in the latest Cellarbrations catalogue…page 4:

http://images.lasoomedia1.com.au/imageicon/clb/prod/j0052293…

And no, this is not a competition - I have had 14 friends and family jump on this already, and got this response from the Jacob Creek reps:

"all participants that satisfy the entry conditions and have a valid claim will receive the offer as outlined"

        • maybe try to send Jacob's creek them an email to see if they can change it for you :)
          Their email is [email protected]

    • hey!! i got the same flights! with virgin, but i got my dates mixed up haha oh well, ill just need to take an extra day off work!

      • How does it mix up? Mine is leave on Friday and back on Sunday, which is 2 nights stay as expected. Do you mean you got 3 nights stay or they booked you in a different date that not prefered?

  • Well they received the claim Monday (according to aus post), how long does it take normally to hear that it's all been approved? Only the first step of the claim.

    • Two weeks for me.

      • Ok cool but I would imagine it should be all good. I'm sure if they cancelled claims because they were too busy to process them they wouldn't be very popular!

    • Upto 7 business days

  • Virgin means no checked baggage included?
Its going to be hard to take the folding bicycle as carry-on.

    • Yes, that's correct. But you can purchase the checked baggage at $23(?) each way if you really need your bicycle.

      • $15 each way for 1 piece of luggage. Don't need it, but a great way to see a lot in a short time, if I get an unfamiliar city. Melbourne is good for bikes, and folders can go on trams etc. Not sure if Sydney is good for cycling, but would be nice to give the finger to the outrageous train fare.

Folding bike is still oversize, but I think same cost, and hope can check it in on Virgin in it's soft bag?
Otherwise might try one of those new bike-hire schemes, if the stupid helmet laws have not killed them off already.

  • What do we need to know about Sydney, and is there anything on that shouldn't be missed around Anzac day?

We didn't do so well timewise as the majority seem to have, with departure at this end around lunchtime, then returning at 10am, so really only 1 day to do anything. Hubby has the Powerhouse Museum on his want-to-do list.

  • Thank you for taking part in our Mystery Flight promotion!

Due to the extraordinary success of the promotion, demand has significantly exceeded our expectations and as such we are experiencing some delays.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we will be in touch soon.

    Thanks for your patience.

    • I got the same message - still waiting to select dates

      • Same, but then after I asked I got this email:

We appreciate your patience, we are working on the validations as fast as possible you will receive the validation before the 31 st December to add in your dates.

      • Have now got confirmation woo :)

  • +3

Submitted my dates on Saturday, got the dates and flights confirmed today. Perfect match for Melbourne to Launceston with Virgin. Pretty happy about that. Depart 1.10pm return 2.50pm
Thanks heaps for posting the deal Kirt

    • just got dates and times today. I got the same flights as you depart 1:10pm return 2:50pm. I have never been to Launceston so should be good!

    • Snap…they might need some VIP OzB seats for us! :-)

      • We actually just went there for the first time after Xmas…really nice place and lots to do… if you want to get around and see some more, hire a car. We managed to get one from the Airport and drop off when we go and it only cost $74 for the 2 days…absolute bargain through http://www.economycarrentals.com Hope you enjoy!

  • got my dates and flights for easter… from sydney to gold coast with Virgin.. Depart 12.10pm return 8.05pm..
matched its sydney to gold coast..

i've checked the flights at sydney airport website which lists down the times and flights within these few days..it might be faster..? i reckon flights schedule are a bit like train timetable, most probably similar to the same destinations.. except for some days..

    • Call virgin and tell them the suspect flight No and your full name, they will check their system and tell you your reservation No. That's what I did.

  • I got my confirmation email - but the link to go into the page where you choose dates doesn't work… Does anyone have a web address for this page?

    • You have the right address, but the geniuses have shut down the website because the 14-dec deadline has passed.
Wait for them to fix it.

      • Yep looks like the site is down….just got my confirmation email but cannot select dates as getting 'website not found' error - ooops!

What hotel are Gold Coast visitors getting? Do you even get your hotel details?

        • Website is now up - I think it goes down nightly (the website that is)

  • +1

    I got Brisbane to Melbourne I think… leave 7.55am back at 12pm.

    • This is a good one! I wish I could get it as well.

  • I got Melb to Launceston too - disappointed - small place and not much to do :(

Flights are $39 each way with virgin at the moment so they are obviously trying to give people cheaper destintations (flights and accomodation costs) because they probably got more people taking up this promotion than they anticipated.

Dont know if I will be going.

  • Any other people from Brisbane who have registered - where did you get? I'm guessing the two Rockhampton tickets are from Brisbane so wanted to see if anyone had gotten anywhere else.

Thinking about changing departure city to Maroochydore if that is the case.

Any advice will be greatfully accepted.

    • +1

Assuming I've matched them correctly, we got Sydney from Brisbane.

      • So now I have seen Sydney, Melbourne and Rockhampton (worst)… My picked dates are all after September 2013. I still haven't received my confirmaiton yet although I submitted some time ago. I assume they are giving priority to people picking early 2013.

    • We also got Sydney from Brisbane departing mid February. I'm pretty happy with that, I feel for the people who got stuck with Rocky.

      • Mine's in Feb too. To be honest, although I prefer Sydney I wouldn't have been too unhappy with Rocky. I've been to Sydney a bunch of times, but haven't really seen around the Rocky area. It's only one full day, surely there is enough there to fill in a day? :)

        • +1

I reckon you'd really need to rent a car and check out a national park or two or perhaps take a day trip to Keppel. Rocky does do a good steak though, and the local Indian joint ain't bad.

    • Any other people from Brisbane who have registered - where did you get?

Some one several posts up got Brisbane - Melbourne

  • i havent had a problem with the site being down to select dates - all good on that front but did link from email I received. This link will take you straight to the page to select dates once you have been validated -
    http://bonusmysteryflight.com.au/preferred-date.php?booking

I got my confirmed departure within a week, pretty sure off to Sydney which is OK.

Have to enter dates by 31st Dec or I think they wont allow dates to be added after that date.

Considering flights are supposed to be booked by Dec 31, this should be loads of fun trying to organise everything last minute & especially annoying when we sent off two in the same household & are still waiting on one.

  • +1

I just received an email claiming my application was invalid and has been rejected due to an issue with the receipt. Funny thing is it was in the same envelope as another application with essentially the exact same details just the next sequential invoice number on the receipt and in my partners name and that was approved yesterday.

I just responded to their email and await a response! Maybe they ran out of flights…

    • Jus take it to ACCC and Fair Trading.

Te have broken so many of their own Termsn and Conditions, it's not funny. And made us wait forever!

Now they are being scabby with receipts AND still charging $30 fees regardless?

travel2go is the promoter in Neutral Bay, NSW.

      Take 'em to the cleaners!

  • No response, so I tried submitting my dates again, and got:

Sorry, we have already received your preferred travel dates and your booking has been finalised. If you wish to speak to an operator please call 1800 355 115 or email us

    • As in they chose your dates but did not send you a confirmation email? I submitted dates 2 weeks ago and have had my credit card charged and still no confirmation on dates as yet….anyone else in the same boat??

      • It would appear that way. But I checked with Virgin and there is no booking in my name.

      • -5

Yes, im in th same boat.

Ive Lodged a complaint with ACCC and Fair Trading.

'Overwheliming response' is not my problem.

It cost me an overwhelming $120 + $60 to get this far!

Hire a bunch a INDIANS 24 hours a day to help you, if yo want to reduce your backlog!

        • +1

You reflect poor game my friend

  • +1

I wonder if there's just one person working on these claims, hence no system and taking so long lol

Weird they supplied a free call number instead if the 1300 number!

    Good luck :)

  • Where do the Flights go from NEWCASTLE AIRPORT?

    Anyone know?

Sydney Airport always goes to Gold Coast in this promotion.

    • what dates and times did you get? try checking the virgin website. im from newy and chose to fly out of syd. guess where i am going… GC

  • My gf was checking out the date selection process and clicked continue to see the next step. She didn't have my claim number with her but didn't worry about it as she wasn't going to submit. She swears that no pop-up appeared warning her that this would submit her dates, next thing she knows she's at the page saying she's chosen her preferred dates.

Tried submitting another claim with mine and hers and get the message:

"Sorry, your partner has already submitted their preferred travel dates and their booking has been finalised. If you wish to speak to an operator please call 1800 355 115 or email us."

Anyone else had this issue; no pop-up appearing when hitting continue? And if the booking is finalised why does it take three days to send through the details? Trying desperately to contact them (have emailed and left a phone message), but doubt we'll have any luck until at least Monday (I just hope they're not closed until the 27th). Bloody frustrating, just hope they don't expect us to travel separately let alone on different weekends.

    • +2

I submitted dates but realised about 3 days later that one of the dates was when we had a concert booked.
I emailed them and was able to change the dates in about 1/2 hour.

their responses were within 5 minutes of mine and seemed to be pretty helpful.

      • Awesome, that sounds a lot more laid back than I was expecting. Thanks.

        • I rang them last week when I was panicking they hadn't validated my claims sent 28 days before. they said they are only closed for Xmas and Boxing Day so you should be able to call them tomorrow. Good luck!

  • When I spoke with their customer centre the girl said that dates had to be advised by the 31st dec but they would be processing actual bookings for sometime after that with earlier departure dates the priority. Just had to get dates submitted but 31st

  • got my dates today. looks like i am going to melbourne from adelaide. times match up perfectly

    • called up virgin and got my reservation number…

      • What did you tell them to get your reservation number?

I just called up and they said they won't give me any details unless I provide credit card details or how much the flight was ><

        • i acted dumb… put on my blonde wig…

i called and said i cant find my reservation number. i gave them my full name and the flight time date and flight number (ie. DJ366) and then the guy on the phone asked me for my email address and he sent the itinerary to me via email. It had all the details of free-2-travel ie. the rep who placed the order etc…

        • What month u book for? Still waiting for dates and we booked to fly in April :S

        • i asked for dates in march and april, but my wife called up and changed one of the dates, then we got our date confirmation 2 hours later.

  • Yeah got adl - mel over easter break. Bitter sweet. Melbs is not really what I wanted but for $180 for 2, can't argue.

  • Any one from Melbourne or Adelaide get any where else? Imagine Mel-Syd would be cheap for them. Checked via DJ website with dates/times.

  • Got my invoice this morning and flights ( matching Sydney to Gold Coast mid may) this afternoon. Got first choice of dates. Woohoo!!!

  • Still waiting for mine but I've put down dates in about September so I may be waiting a longggg time for a confirmation :(

    • +1

Me too. I submitted quite early but my dates are from Sep through Nov. Don't expect to receive my date soon..

  • Got mine. Decent flight times.

Anyone in Perth NOT going to Melbourne?

    • +1

I'm in Perth. Pretty sure I'm going to adelaide on jetstar. And the times are crappy as I arrive at 9.15 at night on the fri, and leave early on the sun, so that's basically only 1 day and 1 night to do stuff.

  • Got mine, HBA-MEL. Great times, mid-morning to late afternoon. Thanks OZB, Jacobs Creek and F2T ! :)

  • Anyone got any clues to where the accommodation is? We are off to melbourne, yay! Just rang and added an infant and got the itinerary emailed :)

    • Nice! And good to know! Still waiting on ours, hoping it's any day now

    • ohhh, i need to add an infant too! when are your travel dates? did it cost you anything extra?

      • Infant is free :)

        • thats sweet as! how far out from your date of travels did you notify them? did you just notify the promoters support team?

sorry for all these questions, this will be the first time we fly with my now 7month old hehe.

        • I just did what someone earlier mentioned - rang virgin with the flight number and said I wanted to add an infant but didn't have my reservation number. She checked for my name, questioned the date the ticket was purchased (date I received the email) and who booked it (free to travel). I then had my itinerary emailed to me, and then you can go in and change your dates of travel etc online :)

  • +1

    Hi all,

Just as an update to this, my mate from the local bottle-o said they use QANTAS, Virgin, or Jetstar, and not necessarily the same airline outbound / inbound (he has confirmed this with 4 of the Jacobs Creek deals he sorted for his friends and family).

    The plot thickens :)

    • +1

my itinerary says in and out on virgin… (well that makes it not a virgin then…)

    • Yeah my brother is flying from Sunshine Coast in Feb.
The only flights that match up time wise are Jetstar flights to Sydney return. (Which also happen to be the cheapest flights on that day by a long shot.)

    • +1

Between Qantas, Virgin & Jetstar, Qantas is the only one that matches.
Was getting worried for a while until I saw your Qantas comment.

      Cheers

  • +1

    Thanks everyone for posting info.

I just recieved my email today with flight times etc

As I had only emailed my date requests the week before Christmas it has taken until today to recieve info as I guess they were closed or busy over Christmas.

We are flying Newcastle to Brisbane in March which we are happy with.

    Happy Travels everyone :)

  • How are you guys working out where you are going to?

I have flight out on 9th Feb 1100 from Perth, and flight back at 11th Feb 2045 from mystery location.

    • Jestar Perth to Melbourne is what I've found for that :)

      • Cheers! It would be interesting to see what sort of places the accommodation is.

        • Let me know where you stay, I bet it's where we end up too!

      • *Jetstar obviously lol

And no idea of accommodation, you'll be one of the first to find out ;)

  • +3

Got details, going Perth to Melbourne in April :) thanks a lot to the OP for this, never would've known otherwise!

  • +1

Is anyone still waiting for their flights ? I emailed them and they had the standard response of they are working through the backlog.

    • Did you choose dates at the start or end of the year? They had told me that the earlier dates get the details sooner.

      • First choice was a date in September. Hopefully thats why its taking so long.

        • Yeah still waiting for mine too which was also a first choice of September…we will be done last I think

        • I spoke to the customer service directly and they said dates later in the year are going to be delayed.

        • Well the good news is I actually got my flights for September today 20-22nd and looks like I'm heading to Melbourne for prelim final weekend just as I planned! Woop!

        • +1

I got mine today as well. Looks like I am flying to Sydney from Brisbane in late November.

My first choice was 14 September weekend but I didn't get it.

    • My dates were late October. They will keep waiting until they can book the cheapest package.

  • So…only a week from February…who is gonna be the first to go?

My uncle goes in the second week of Feb…will report back on accommodation etc when he gets home.

  • They changed my flight times :\ originally meant to be 10:10am flight to gold coast, now it is a 3:10.

    • SAME! I just noticed. It was supposed to be 11.05am to fly back, and now it's been bumped to 10.05am :(

    • Enjoy your sleep in guys

    • quite annoying, 10:10 was much more suitable and gave nearly a full day in gold coast. they already sent me the confirmation for 10:10 so not sure why it can change like that…

      • That is annoying considering how early it gets dark on the Gold Coast. You could possibly ring the airline and see if they can get you on an earlier flight.

        • Just checked the flight number/Booking on Virgin and actually it was the original times!! Very bad mistake from Jacobs Creek to send me that email, had car booked for those times. Now have to sort out different arrangements. annoying!!

  • Is anyone still waiting on their dates? I had choices between May and August and am still waiting on date confirmation. Payment has been taken from my credit card and the claim confirmed.

    • same here.

only reason it came to mind is because i just opened a bottle!

tasted better during the hype :S
