  • Nice. I signed up using Paypal the last time and cancelled the recurring payment on Paypal 3 weeks later which automatically cancelled my subscription, though I could have done it at the Skype end also.

    • +7

Well, I signed up last time and forgot about it. All of a sudden I got a couple of emails saying my subscription has started. I went on their live chat and they reversed the charges.

Key point is cancel ASAP. Don't wait until the end of the month.

      • +1

I have a calendar to help me keep track of all the things I need to do, and never miss an "appointment", but yes, if you are the kind to miss things, do it soon.

      • Hey why neg Neil? It's human to forget. That's why we have machines to remind us of more than we'd like to know.

        • +5

Negs almost mean nothing, with the number of users, there's bound to have accidental negs. I know this because the ozbargain site is too weird to navigate with my human fingers on a mobile :P

        • +3

Yeah, I have complained about the proximity of the two buttons several times. Especially on mobile devices.

        • +1

Oops..possum, I accidentally negged you in an attempt to see it for myself

      • I also signed up last time, but somehow had my reminder date set to 2 days later! I got a Paypal email stating my Skype subscription had been renewed… DOH!
I wonder if it's too late to request reversal of the charge.

        • +2

Just chatted with Skype rep and she refunded my full amount.
          What a great service!

        • Was she hot?

  • +1

Does anyone else get the following message when trying to sign up?

Oops - it looks like this trial has either expired or isn’t available for this Skype Name.
Please ensure you’ve signed in with the Skype Name the free trial was sent to.

    • Worked for me.

    • +1

Nope - I just did it now successfully.

  • +3

You can cancel straight away after signing up. Still lasts for 30 days :)

Do it now to avoid getting in trouble later.

    • +1

Thanks! Cancelled it straight away and get this message:

You've cancelled your Skype Premium with Unlimited World subscription. You can continue to make calls until it expires on January 14, 2013.
No further payments will be taken unless you reactivate this subscription.

Neil should put this info in the description , Thanks plasmapuff .

  • Will the unlimited calls to Australian landlines, does that include 13 numbers?
    Cheers

    • A quick web search shows that apparently not. However many companies list a number "you can call from overseas" which is a regular local number. That's what I used.

  • I did it last time. Can I do that again?

    • I did so why not you?

      • ok. will try when I reach home. thanks

      • touché

  • The funny thing with Skype is, even if its free its not tempting for me, as I think about all that hassle, and without the Internet your f* !, hence the solution was Lyca or Hello mobile, anytime anywhere and cheaper…

    • +1

Try long duration distant calls and see if it's cheaper then free!I love skype, works great on 3G networks or though public wifi.

      • Lyca & Hello offer Unlimited talk time to many destinations, I once used it for 3 hours without a drop call all for just $0.29…, try and make a 3 hour International call with Skype outside this trial deal and you'll know… ;)

    • without the Internet your f* !

You mean you don't get withdrawal symptoms when you have been away from the Net for more than 10 minutes? ;)

    • -1

From what I understand you don't need an internet connection to make a skype call, just set up a "Skype To Go" number for the person you want to call, that will allow you to call any phone in the world by dialing a local phone number, so from your landline it's a local call cost, and from your mobile it's free if you have free minutes on a plan.

      • -1

*When calling a Skype To Go number, local operator charges may apply.

So you pay a call connection fee + call costs + Skype Credit… ?, people must be BONKERS ?! LOL

from your mobile it's free if you have free minutes on a plan.

So you pay for a Plan + utilize free minutes + Skype credit…. ? Waste is it not ?

Keep it simple people, get a low cost International calling Sim card for voice calls !

  • Does anyone know how to get sip access?

    • +2

skype only do proprietary, no SIP. You need a gateway.

  • Is it only available to new customers?

    • +1

      It's all up there mate.

Unlike the previous deal, anyone can sign up for this trial including new accounts and those who participated in that last promotion.

      • Thanks buddy!

        Cheers

  • anyone help? what should i do next? as i got the following msg:

    You'll love Skype Premium

We're making a few final touches to make sure it's perfect - it won't take too long but you can take a look at your account page to see how we're doing. Once you'rewhat good to go, we'll send a quick confirmation email to ***

I got into my account. it shows i have no subscriptions and $0 credit…

    • Check your subscription status later? You won't have any credit showing (if you never bought any), but when you make the free calls they will show as "covered by subscription".

    • sorry just a got confirm email. all good now!

  • Awesome Deal Neil!
Like he said sign up and it takes like 5 minutes to confirm then cancel straight away and you're all set.

  • It is so weird that my account is not eligible for last offer and even this one.

"Oops - it looks like this trial has either expired or isn’t available for this Skype Name. Please ensure you’ve signed in with the Skype Name the free trial was sent to."

This account was registered for some years ago right away Skype established.

My wife's new account works like a charm anyway.

    Any suggestion? Thanks!

    • Use your wife's account or register a new one.

  • ok i'm new to this, but when i tried to call my mobile, it failed and jumped out a window:
u need skpye credit or a subscription to call landlines and mobiles from skpye….
i did check my subscription and its active now…

    • Australian mobiles are not covered. You will need credit to pay for that call.

      • +1

well I just tried mobile and landlines in China, but both failed as well..
        any thoughts?

        • Sorry China shouldn't be there. I copied from the previous deal. I've fixed up the description.

  • -1

    plz confirm it ,thanks

    • +1

u just answered your own question since you got that from the official site?

  • IS this only from the PC application?

Trying it on the skype android app and the calls arent going through.

    Any ideas?

    • I used the app on my android phone in the last deal.
So should be the same here.
Have no idea why it doesn't work for you.

      • Hmm do you need an actual skype number to make non-skype to skype calls (eg to landlines).

All I have is a skype account on my android but when I go to dial the ring tone dies after 5 seconds and it never connects… :(

Also notice that on the app it says I have no credit ($0). Do i need credit for this premium thing to take effect?

        • Sorted. Forgot the area code lol as it's not programmed into my contacts.

  • Neil, a big thanks from me, i was thinking to buy but you have saved me . Hope we get more good deals from you in future.

    • +1

No problem. I have another good one coming up soon for free business cards unless someone beats me to it. ;)

EDIT: Business card deal doesn't work. Sorry. Reference

  • great !

  • for ones paying through PayPal you can cancel the recurring payment by clicking on

    profile button>>my money>> pre-approved payments>> cancel button

  • Any idea when the sign up for this trial expires?

    • I looked for it but all they wrote was limited signups or something like that. So, whenever they like.

  • Excellent thanks.
Just made first free landline call within minutes of signing up.

  • Thanks to OP - good catch. Worked fine, just have to remember to cancel before the 30 days ends

    • +2

Cancel now. It will still work for the remainder of the 1 month trial.

  • Any idea when this offer will expire? Going overseas until 17th of Jan and would like to include that period in the month.

  • SOS!! Just signed up but only got the 7 days trial instead of 1 month trial.
Any idea where I have done wrongly.
Tried to call the international landline but message appeared that I have no Skype Credit allocated.
Thanks and hoping someone can help me.

    • That's odd. What does it say in your account? What country did you try calling?

      • Premium account
        AU$0.00

When I click on the Premium account
        it appeared:

free trial is active expires December 22 2012

Which is only 7 days trial period instead of 30 days

Tried to call Singapore and Malaysia.

How do I cancel the 7 days trial period?

        Thanks.

        • +1

You can cancel your trial if you login to your account. Try this link. No idea how you got a 7 day trial as I can't even see that option on the Skype page. Try canceling your trial and sign up for the 30 day trial. The 30 day deal is now featured on Skype's homepage.

        • Thanks for your help.
I tried to cancel the 7 day trial period but could not find anywhere in the page that I can cancel. Maybe because in my account appeared as below, 'no subscription'

          Premium account
          Au$0.00
          No Subscription

I got the 7 day trial period from the selection that appeared on the right hand side of the page. Might have open the account in the wrong link.

Anyway, I could not make calls to the land line because my account has no credit or subscription.

I think, I have to wait for the 7 day trial period to expires.

Thanks once again for your time.

        • Once the 7 day trial expires, they will start charging you. You need to cancel it now. It's not a subscription you need to click the button that says Premium account, then cancel. Might be better if you contact Skype and they can manually cancel it.

        • Hi Neil, thanks for taking the time to help me, but I am still in SOS! mode.
I could not see anywhere on the premium account that I can cancel it (Tried this earlier before, I posted all these SOS help). I also could not find how I can contact them. Tried the live chat, nothing appeared. Is there any other way that I can contact them. Very frustrated and it's a mistake that I got into it!
Thanks very much for all the time to help me.

        • Sounds like there is something wrong with your browser/computer. Try using Google Chrome or try another computer. The live chat for Skype and the cancel button are there but seems like maybe your browser isn't working properly.

        • I managed to email them. Finally, after 6 emails, one of the smart representative email me the live chat link. The live chat service was fantastic. It seems that there is no recurring payment on my account and I have to wait for the 7 days trial to expire as they cannot cancel it.
Thanks Neil for all your help too. You really go all the way to help those who are helpless. Much appreciated.

  • I have took the previous offer, is that mean I can not take this offer again?

I just got the below message on the payment page
    Unlimited World 1 month $13.99
    0% VAT $0.00
    Total $13.99

    • You can use this offer if you signed up for the previous trials. Did you go to the right link? It's Skype Premium with Unlimited World not Unlimited World. I just tried it on my secondary:

Skype Premium with Unlimited World, 1 month
      AU$ 9.99
      30 day free trial
      AU$ -9.99
      0% VAT AU$ 0.00
      Total AU$ 0.00

      • thanks mate, it works now, my mistake, i still get confuse what is the different between that premium and the normal one

  • Be wary of:

    9.5 Auto-Recharge.

    (a) The Auto-Recharge feature will be automatically enabled when you buy Skype Credit, unless you untick the appropriate box.

  • tried today and said is expired or not available (i had the previous free month)

  • worked for me today so i guess its still not expired. anyone know when it will expire?

  • Just a heads up for those who signed up back on 14th December and only wanted a month free service: the renewal is coming up soon so cancel your subscription if you haven't done so already. You can do it from the Paypal end or the Skype end.

  • My free trial just ended, but no worries I signed up my mother! ;)

    • How many mothers do you have? :)

      • +1

Just the one, but I have other family members who might want to join if they keep this promo going! ;)
