Apple India ID required. Buy gift cards from Amazon India

  1. Set up an Indian Apple ID using your AU mobile number to verify.

  2. Login into an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, using an Indian Apple ID by going to settings > Your name > Media and purchases.

  3. Buy Apple gift cards from Amazon India using your AU amazon account. Enter an Indian address (make sure indian address is selected) and use an international fee free card. Then load gift cards to your Apple ID.

  4. Open up Youtube app - head to account (right bottom corner) > settings (right top corner gear icon) > purchases and memberships

  5. Choose a plan of your liking

Set up google family before signing up to family account https://families.google/families/

    I started to try last night and after a couple of attempts it's all worked now.

    The biggest challenge happening to me was to create an (Indian) Apple ID/Account. I was stuck in setting up the MFA when I constantly got the error "Verification codes cannot be sent to this phone number at this time". Thanks to a comment from a similar deal I finally went through by signing up via Apple Music: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15998992/redir

    The rest went smoothly.

    The trick is you have to have an Indian Apple account logged in on some Apple device and then login to the YouTube app with the Google account you want to have the plan on.

    Wondering if Google will take what actions against these 'plan renewing' activities.

      Haven’t tried but its possible that it won’t let you if your members accounts are set to a different region other than India and they seem to think accounts from different regions cannot be in a family plan

    Amazon India seems to have “run out” of Apple Card’s.

    There’s a third party seller but they don’t indicate delivery method (email/post etc) whereas the Amazon IN listing specifically stated email delivery.

    First time, long time.

    I'm one of many who VPN'd back in 2019 and set up Indian payment. I've received the emails as well.

    I assume that this new method requires VPN location set up to India to setup the Indian Apple ID/buy Amazon apple cards to load to Indian Apple ID?

    Assuming that to be correct can I use my existing YouTube account via the Apple ID I create and update my payment method to satisfy YouTube's new payment requirements or do I need to create a new YouTube account?

    I've never used an apple product/don't have an apple id, but the comments suggest I can create this ID/buy gift cards and add them/pay for YouTube premium via this Indian Apple account, and that I can do all of this from a windows PC

    I assume I just need to keep the apple account preloaded so that the monthly subscription doesn't default?

    Sorry for all of the questions, I've read the thread and don't think this is answered in one spot.

        You set up an Indian Apple ID
        You buy gift cards on Amazon India for your Indian Apple ID
        You log into your Indian Apple ID on your iOS device
        You log into your regular Youtube account on your iOS device and pay with your Indian Apple ID

    What happens with existing family plan that has all slots filled? When you create an indian iOS account, that will be forced to be the family manager +5 other slots?
    If so, will have to boot one out it seems

    For anyone with who doesn't have an iOS device, this can be done pretty easily and quickly on a borrowed iPhone (provided you know someone who would be willing to let you do it).

    To make the process as quick as possible, set up the Indian AppleID account first, purchase your gift card, then on the borrowed phone:

    • Go to Settings > <USERNAME> Media and Purchases
    • Sign out the user
    • Sign in using your Indian Apple ID
    • Open the App Store
    • Tap on your user avatar (or initials) and select Redeem Gift Card or Code and then Enter Code Manually
    • Redeem your voucher
    • Open Youtube or Youtube Music
    • Tap on the User Avatar to access the account settings
    • Select Switch Account and add your Youtube (Google) account
    • Select Paid Memberships, then choose the type of plan you want (confirming that the payment is in INR₹) and continue till you have confirmation
    • At this point you might want to confirm on your personal device that the plan/billing has changed - it should be in INR₹ and say that billing is via Apple.
    • You can now sign out and remove your Google account from the borrowed device (via Youtube/Youtube Music)
    • Then sign out of your Indian Apple ID at Settings > <USERNAME> Media and Purchases and sign the original owner back in.

    Of course, if you don't want to be going through this process on a regular basis, you'll need to load up a decent amount on the gift card - however, there's always the risk that this method could be revoked at any point, so don't load any more than you're willing to lose.

    If you have access to a MacOS device, the good news is that once you've set up the subscription, you can do future gift card top ups on MacOS, without having to borrow an iOS device again. You just need to change your Media and Purchases account in Settings to your Indian Apple ID and then go to the MacOS App Store to redeem any new gift cards. The subscription you would have set up above will deduct from these funds. You can then switch it back to your regular Apple ID.

        Should be. In fact you don’t even need the iPhone for the gift card top op. You can do it via the Apple Music app or Apple TV app on a windows PC. You don’t even have to be subscribed to either service if it’s just “adding a gift card”

    It seems to have worked for me.

    Some said not to buy gift cards of high value as some risk of losing the money.

    I don't see that as possible as YouTube is deducting gift card balance. At best they could suspend your account but I can't see how you could actually lose the gift card money.

    For reference I loaded 2700 rupees (approx $50AUD which should last 12 months)

      I’d not recommend that. Just do the extra step of buying the gift card. If you don’t want to buy a lot just go with 1000R. It’s basically $18 or so which will last 5 months for a single.

    So this worked successfully for me, after a bit of mucking about:

    1. Indian Apple ID worked successfully through the browser
    2. Using my everyday iPhone, I logged out of my usual Apple ID, and into my new Indian Apple ID. Keep in mind that when you log out of your existing Apple ID, all of your payment cards through Apple Pay will disappear.
    3. Buying gift cards through Amazon India worked fine, just choose a random post code
    4. Redeeming the ID through the iPhone - just long press on the app store, and enter in the Apple Store giftcard ID from the Amazon confirmation page. NB: You will still need to finish setting up a payment profile on your new Apple ID, including address and phone number. I just used a random Indian address generator
    5. Going into the Youtube app, I logged into my existing Family Group owner (as I was previously using the Argentinian hack before I got kicked off), and rather than attempting to renew the now defunct Argentinian family plan, I just went and selected the new family plan. This seemed to work fine.

    The subscription worked successfully, so I added another 800INR to my Indian Apple ID wallet for the next couple of months.

    Another thing to note, after attempting to log out of the Indian Apple ID on my iPhone, it set an hour security delay, so you may need to wait to log back in to your regular Apple ID.

      I scrolled down past the 'reactivate' and it gave a separate option to sign up for a youtube premium individual plan. my guess is if you press reactivate, it tries to use your old (no longer allowed) payment method.
