  • How much are replacement toners and how many pages to they do?

  • And can you use generic toner in this too?

  • Just bought a $49 Canon 2132 like 4 days ago. Dang nabbit. Oh well they have cheap ink refills.

      Brother*

  • Looks cheap for an laser with cheap inks!

  • Seems like Victoria is out of stock

  • +3

Got one from HN for $39 last year . Print quality is very good and a class above all other inkjet printers at that price ranges.

    • +13

yes especially considering its a laser printer…..

      • lol… well said mate…lol

  • Cheap for a colour laser printer too $98 !
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Pr…

    • How much $$ for this models toner?

      • +3

Typically 4x the cost of the printer.

    • mono?

  • Nice one.

  • +2

maybe this is why its cheap… read the reviews
    "Dreadful Product"
    "Paper Jam Very Frequently"

    • pretty sure it will satisfy the typical uni student for normal printing……

    • +5

Probably putting in poor quality paper upside down.
yes there is a correct way up to put in the paper that most people dont know!

      • +2

Been using the multifunction version here for about 2 years… no sign of a paper jam… best darn printer ever!

  • Lucky me. Not one paper jam in one year.

  • I bought this at OW when it was $49 and can say it was a bargain at that price for an awesome product. At $29 it's insane.

    • was it a year ago?

  • I'm guessing this doesnt come with any toner installed?

    • +5

It does come with a starter toner that is installed, you need to turn the toner to lock it in place before you print. The starter toner has a "yield of 600 pages".

    • +2

      It does.

  • Brilliant Thanks OP

  • +1

I can see 4 boxes here in stock at north Sydney office works, minus the one I'm taking right now. :)

    Cheers for the awesome find!

    • +1

2 left at North Sydney OW; just snapped one up! Cheaper than buying a black ink cartridge for our inkjet.

  • Awesome, cheaper to buy this than buy an inkjet cartidge for my old HP!! CHeers OP

  • +3

I have the colour version of this, but most probably applies:

    (a) it's LED, not really laser

    (b) in terms of picture quality it destroys the HP I returned, despite (a)

    (c) in terms of usability, drivers etc, it destroys the HP I returned

    (d) it runs on generic toner

    (e) it freaks out and jams if you get paper size mixed up (i.e. accidently print on letter setting with A4 paper)

    (f) it is crazy fast for such a baby printer

    • Loopy, what is the colour one like? Decent picture prints, expensive to run?

      • +1

        Yep I'm very happy

  • Trying to resist the urge to buy one even though I already own & often use it's bigger brother (M205b) & I still have one of those $9 Dell printers sitting around unused.

Either way, for people coming from inkjets even cheap lasers like this will blow your mind in regards to print speed, quality and cost savings over the long run. Plus they don't take five minutes to clean themselves every time you turn them on…

  • With paper loaded, does it look like the Officeworks picture, or does the paper stick out the front?

  • ive got this badboy. i reakon its a hell good printer. jams once in a while but the price.. cant complain.

  • pretty good price for a laser printer. it is a small laser printer compare to brother laser printer.
bought 50 last year. it works great

  • -2

This might seem like a stupid question. But does it print in colour?

    • +3

Yes. That's is, it's a stupid question. See the Mono in the title?

    • I reckon if you put some yellow toner in, it would print colour.
Try it out. Really easy to read. I promise.

  • Thanks! Picked one up from Hawthorn. Had a couple left at lunchtime.

  • Mono = no colour
but you will get the stunning black and white prints.

  • Got one even though didt need it there was 2 i took one and the other had a slip on it saying on hold for customer at officeworks alexandria.

Still got the brother laser and dell $9 printer in the cupboard unused lol :)

    • I now worry that cheap toner scratches the drum… happen to me on a brand new drum on that Brother MFC9180 and I dont know why it happened.

  • I have one as a spare printer, bloody good it is! and cheap toner.
I bought it in case my old Brother MFC9180 packs up lol
I also have a cp305d for my main colour printer :D

  • Just scored one at the king st store in Melbourne CBD!

They had maybe 3-4 left on the shelf.

  • bought one thanks

Cheers OP, i got 2 online to qualify for free postage. Can use one as a seat while i wait for the other to print.

  • About a dozen at Hindmarsh SA.

  • Guys,I might be asking for too much here, but is this printer wireless networkable?

  • thththanks. got one

  • Bought 2, one for my dad. Thanks~

  • Aha, In right time. Thanks TScott.

  • Bought one from Blacktown store. They still had about 10 left. Used ING PayWave and will get a cool $1.50 refund.

Connected it to my Fritz Box and now works as an awesome network printer. Great quality prints and fast enough.

    • Hi bryans

What procedure did you follow to get the Fritz box printing ? If you have a working printcap file that would be useful.

      • By mentioning printcap do mean you are trying to run it from Linux? This model is a GDI printer so no good for Linux.

        • Xerox provide a UNIX driver for the printer http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/support/Downloads.asp… I just haven't worked out the printcap file

I've also tried from Mac OS X, and can't get the driver to work under that either

        • You mean the ISO file inside the ZIP file? Those are converters to Postscript. The printer doesn't accept PS natively, that has to be done by a Windows driver, hence you need Windows. The 205 model, as opposed to the 205b model, may have accepted Postscript. That would explain the old timestamps on the driver. But 205b is a GDI printer so that's the end of hope.

Finally, Fuji Xerox themselves say that this is not compatible with Unix/Linux.

          http://askubuntu.com/questions/98016/alternative-printer-dri…

Go search for yourself on "205b Linux driver". I'd be surprised if you get any success stories. All the hits I encountered say no luck.

        • You are correct - intriguing that they can supply a Mac CUPS driver but not a Linux one.

Also I thought Fritz box ran Linux, hence my original query

        • Well it's all a matter of Fuji Xerox writing the driver or providing the specs so that open source programmers can write one. The Fritz box owner may have been using USB passthrough to print from Windows.

  • Why msy when you have ebay? BTW what's the verdict on these
    http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com.au/viewitem?itemId=2611011055…

  • I need a spare toner for this new printer I got. It costs $64 at OW. I'm better off buying a another printer for $30! hehe

    • You do know you can tell OW to pricebeat MSY's $19 OEM toner for it. http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9513

      • so the OW stocked toner is also generic?

cant imagine them price beating a genuine vs an OEM version..

        • OW's toner is OEM, so is MSY's so they have been able to beat it.

  • out of stock now online

  • +1

Bought this printer today, and OEM toners for MSY's price at OW Brisbane. Salesperson knew about it. TYVM OP for my first OB deal!
They still have printers there, and perhaps some more toners out the back

  • Got the colour version - very happy, cheap and great print quality.

  • +2

Fuji Xerox P205W is now always priced at $30…

    White version of this.

Cheaper than brother, when you consider operating costs and cartridges

    • Back in stock again. Everyday price is $29.95
