Dyson DC 39 Multi-Floor $369 Shipped from Harrods UK

580

Already submitted one for this product today, but the user bigsue19 commented on buying a DC39 in this thread http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87007 , but didn't list it, so I'm doing it on her behalf because the offer is too good.

The equivalent model costs at its lowest a touch over $700 shipped in Australia, so is a 2 year Australian warranty worth $200? After buying the DC44 from the US I'm pretty confident on Dysons reliability and I think it's worth the gamble.

To get the lowest price you need to register for a rewards card and after you look at your cart if it doesn't say 10% off in red log out then in again. Then once you see that choose your shipping destination and the VAT is gone it should read 234.25 pounds.

Key considerations:
- There is no Australian warranty
- It will run on Australian voltage with a European plug converter
- Doesn't include bank fees (use 28 degrees card)

Just shows how ludicrous pricing is in Australia.

Seems like a lot for a vacuum. My $200 commercial one is still going strong and it sucks like there's no tomorrow.

    • +2

It may suck well, but what does it blow back into the air? These have great filtering. Couldn't be happier with mine.

    • +4

That's why you need to pay more to get a vacuum that doesn't suck.

      • +5

But if it doesn't suck then, surely, it must blow!

        • -3

No way to suck and blow at the same time!!

        • +4

I really like where this is going

    • It's not just about sucking and blowing….Seriously bio-mechanics…can anyone tell me how these vacs are your back after using for a while?

      • +1

I've never had problems with mine and I'm 6'2".

        • +1

Thank for that. I realise I didn't state my question clearly. I'm so glad someone got it.

  • Can't add it to my Bag (cart) it just goes back to the Harrod's home page each time I click on the button.

  • I've had a DC18 for about 5 years now.. it's ready for replacement as the engine is dying…

  • Just purchased .. that is a ripper price.. almost hit the buy button on the previous deal for $500+ dollars . Glad I waited .. Thanks OP. (and bigsue19)

  • Much cheaper than the DC37 Animal posted earlier in the day.

  • Ozbargain-ed?

  • Updated title and listing to the Multi-floor rather than the Animal.

  • Just got it for 257 pounds $400.

    Thanks

  • I WANT!

    CHRISTMAS MAKE ME WANT DEALS!

  • Tossing up between a Multi-Floor and one of these: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88755

Any opinions on what would better suit a small 3bdrm unit with carpet+tiles?

    • If you had both you'd use the handheld 85% of the time but you'd want a barrel for the extra power it brings. If you don't have a vacuum I'd day get the DC39 but if you already have one of at least average performance, get the handheld.

      Barrel= more power unlimited time
Handheld= quick, easy, short run time

Up to you really, weigh up the pros and cons.

      • I don't own a vacuum cleaner, so just picked up the DC39 Multi-Floor for £234.25. Thanks for your advice mate :)

This is a new low for Australian retailers if none of them can beat Harrods for a large product imported from the UK.

    • I'd be guessing, however I presume Dyson would sell at a higher unit price to retailers in Australia compared to other regions.

      • however I presume Dyson would sell at a higher unit price to retailers in Australia compared to other regions

exactly. the 'buy' price from Dyson AUS is much higher than the buy price from Dyson UK/EU…
we get shafted proportionally more by the distributor than the retailer

    • +1

Australia is so so far away from the rest of the world, so we have no idea how much products cost in other countries. Most Australians only hear what's happening in other parts of the world via telegram. It's also cheaper to ship a product from Malaysia to the UK than it is to Australia because the UK is right next door. We all work in mining therefore can afford to pay more, plus our dollar is so weak at the moment that we simply have to pay much more than everyone else….

…. oh, my sides are splitting, I can't go on :-)

  • dc39 animal sold out

  • Excellent price. Good work OP

I got one when originally listed a few weeks ago. Arrived in 8 days with tracking all the way. Packed in a heavy duty Harrods box fair size bigger than the Dyson box inside so it was huge. Makes Aust Post look like a joke also as far a shipping time and costs.

  • Well done OP. It's an Ozbargain Christmas!

  • Just by way of comparison (unfortunately, no international delivery), Dyson UK has the DC39 Multi Floor at £239.99 (Harrods at £279.00) with a free clean and tidy tool kit worth £56.

  • Woohoo. Awesome. Thanks

  • managed to snag one of the animal ones before they sold out. Nice one OP!

    • I didn't, I needed approval before purchase and didn't get it until the morning. :(

      • That's why I always buy first, report later ;)

  • Thanks mate, got one (multifloor) for £234.25.

  • great price I picked up the multi floor

  • Nice deal, got 2 for 443 pounds = about $690 using 28degrees delivered :)

Also got the 10% for signing up to the rewards card :)

  • I think this is the DC38, the mini version of the DC29. It has a carbon fibre head so even better! thanks for the post.

    • After comparing photos I have to agree with you this deal is for the DC38 (http://www.infobarrel.com/Should_I_Buy_a_DC38_or_DC39) and have decided I don't want it. I'll keep an eye out for the DC39 Animal to come back in stock. Also FYI, the DC38 seems to be back in stock.

Unfortunately This Item Is Temporarily Unavailable.
Thank you for visiting our website today. Please go to our Homepage to browse our full product range.

  • If these are gone then the next best is Amazon Italy
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88783#comment-1167941

Cost about $50-$90 more but still beat Australian prices easily. I'll keep an eye out at Harrods though in the hope the stock shortage is temporary and the price remains the same.

  • So disappointed I missed this! Been on the hunt for one for ages!! Hopefully next time I wont be so tardy to the party..

  • Harrods have finally taken the products from their website. Maybe they won't return. :(

  • Damn. My order went through originally but I just got an email saying it is unavailable and has been removed from my order :(

    • Same here. I guess they didn't want to honour the 25 pound shipping for us Aussies :/

      • I believe they just out of stock.
I sent them an email. here's the reply I got.
fingercross the price will be the same if not cheaper.

        Thank you for your email.

I have been advised by the department that unfortunately we are out of stock of this item, and we will be getting them back in at the end of January.
        • Sounds promising. Would like to hear from anyone who did get one.

    • Sorry guys, I hope some peoples orders get through.

  • +1

    Same here….:-(

  • Same for me. Just got my cancellation.

  • cancelled too

  • Order cancelled. Does the transaction go through or do they only hold the funds until they confirm the order? Just wondering cos one way ill have to pay the foreign transaction fee.

either they got oz bargained or they didn't want to ship to Australia.

    • I don't understand how a major retailer would have such poor stock holding on their web page. To me that makes me think they don't want to ship, but I really don't know.

  • I haven't recieved a cancellation note, so hopefully my order has gone through. For those that have had their order cancelled - what time did you order?
I complete the transaction around 11am EST.

    • I got the confirmation for my order (now cancelled) at 0950 AEST.

    • My (cancelled) order was submitted at 9:50 Brisbane time.

  • my order was confirmed and then cancelled

any recourse one could take here ?

Multi Floor is back on sale 257.90 pound including shipping

    • +1

Thanks. Ordered 2 on 26 Dec and got DHL tracking note around 2 pm today. Fingers crossed that they will be here by the end of the week. No additional discount though for signing up the Harrods rewards card.

      • I found out later the discount wasn't for signing up, it was a discount weekend for members. So when the deal was listed it was that discount weekend.

  • DC39 Multifloor is now $589 at Myer. http://shop.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/au-electrical-r-11/elec…
edit: never mind it is $547 at TGG anyway so Myer deal not so special.

Just received my Dyson DC39 Animal this morning . Over the moon.

    • mine is at Heathrow….coming soon!

  • God to hear some people got it. Stock for both items was in and out since the posting was listed but the 10% off finished. I'm pissed off I missed out. :(

You'll have to tell us what you've upgraded from and what you think.

    • There's another 10% off this coming saturday 5th and Sunday 6th got an email from Harrods yesterday. Hopefully they may have stock by then for those that missed out

  • Yeah I saw that, probably not likely though. I think they have thiose 10% off things every month or two though.

  • So I just got my Dyson - but it's a DC38 that's arrived, not a DC39. Can anyone else that's received one confirm they got a DC39?

Trying to find confirmation that it was a DC39 advertised, but it looks like it's been taken down from the website:
    http://www.harrods.com/gifts/vacuum-cleaners?viewall=yes

Tried to find the right (cached) product page but this is as close as I can get:
    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:5xjPVgC…

My original order confirmation and subsequent tracking e-mail both vaguely state:
"Multi Floor Complete Hoover" and SKU "2768651".
Customs invoice states "Dyson Multifloor complete hoover metal and plastic"
The consignment note does state "DYS DC38 Multifloor Complete Crl" under 'Description', so it looks like they picked and packed the correct item.

Interestingly, they are the same RRP:
    http://www.dyson.co.uk/shop/productcompare.aspx?filters=cyli…

DC38's primary selling point is that it's smaller/lighter - but the DC39 has more power, bigger bin, longer cord, HEPA filter.

I wonder if I clicked the wrong link…

    • I posted above agreeing with this guy http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88831#comment-1168781 that it was a DC38. I also had confirmation from Harrods that it was a DC38 advertised because the item on the website did not specify which.

    • Not sure what the picture was but listed as the DC39, I have a screenshot which I will upload in a sec.

      Edit:
      http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/9702/harrodsvaccum.jpg

It's still in my cart now and that's how it was listed. I'd be annoyed getting a DC38 because it was listed as a DC39 and certainly we shouldn't have to analyse the image.

      • If you ordered the DC39 Animal you will be OK. The deal linked in this post was to "Dyson Multifloor" which turns out is a DC38.

        • Both items were DC39, Animal was the original post with a multi-floor footnote (check revisions) and then it was changed to just the DC39 multi-floor. I'm 99% sure it was not DC38 as I researched all the models, including from Amazon.it to see the differences.

I don't have a screen capture of the multi-floor though.

        • Ah OK, I must not have seen the original post then. By the time I clicked through to the link in this post it was an unspecified Dyson Multifloor.

        • Both were specified as DC39, which the title still shows. Be interested to hear how majormick gets on.

        • I'm pretty sure the Harrods website stated DC39 as well - and based research on this model. But now I'm second-guessing myself - maybe it was an assumption I made based on the title of the deal: "Dyson DC 39 Multi-Floor $369 Shipped from Harrods UK"?

So I'll wait a few days to see if anyone has a screenshot, or if there are any other comments. But I may well stick with the DC38. I'm fairly confident Harrods would accommodate returns, but it would require a bit of effort to ship back, and I live in an apartment anyway.

Interestingly, the DC38 has a higher 'street' price - probably because it is a less popular model = less volume:

          http://www.shopbot.com.au/m/?m=Dyson+DC39
          http://www.shopbot.com.au/m/?m=dyson+dc38

Finally - lesson learned - take screenshots!

        • I'm second guessing myself too, so I apologise if this has stuffed you or anyone else up. I'm sure you could sell it at cost and break even though.

        • Nah it's cool, thanks for posting it up! I'm still happy with the purchase - I live in an apartment so the smaller size may be an advantage anyway

  • I ordered D39 animal and it arrived today. Huge box, must have cost them way more than 25pounds to post.
    Mine is definately D39.
    Thanks OP, great saving @$406!!
No more excuses not to vacuum!!

  • yeah I also received my DC39 animal today. SKU 2768652 and description of "DC39 Animal" in the order confirmation e-mail.

Looks like you did go through the wrong link majormick :(

    • Nah, not the wrong link, the multi-floor comes as a DC38 and DC39. I thought it was the 39 however it seems it was a 38.

  • Received my DC39 animal on the 31st December 2012.
    Thank you so much OP!

  • Ordered another 2 of these last week after my first order for 1 was cancelled.
This time it went through and they are on the way.
With the 2nd one on eBay it brings the cost of the one i'll keep to an amazing price.

    Thanks OP!

    • Two dc38 turned up today. i thought I ordered DC39's

  • Animal is back in stock and the 10% off weekend is from Thursday to Sunday (17th to 20th Jan).
