JB Hi-Fi Massive Sale! (30% off Audio, 20% off Many Other Things) Logitech 650 Remote - $31.50 | Samsung 7.1 set - $446

4160

omgomgomgomg and I made this site that shows you all of the daily reductions in price, and it looks like JB HiFi have reduced quite a lot of their stock today. This includes the Seagate 3TB but just having a quick look through this list (ordered from greatest % reduction to the ones that went UP in price) I did find:

Logitech 650 Remote - $31.50 down from $46 - http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/accessories/logit…
Samsung 7.1 set - $446 down from $746 - http://www.jbhifi.com.au/home-theatre/samsung/7-1ch-1330w-3d…

The list goes on, find yourself a bargain before boxing day!

  • Nice work, it is sadder than my PS+ spreadsheet, I am envious, very well done.

  • Great website.

  • Awesome list, just a suggestion, can you sort the list in 2 places, the discounted and also increased price items sorted each alphabetically ?

  • Great Work

  • Are these reduced? http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps-navigation/speakers/p…

I couldn't find it on the list that you have made

  • Amazing!

+1 for the amazing site! It's a penny pincher's dream come true!

  • Wow, I didn't even get a 1/4 of the way down the page before I was fragged, too busy for my old eye's and brain, will be awesome if and when its categorised

    • +1

use ctrl+f and search the page for key words (i.e. if you want ipod accessories, search for ipod)

Sortable Google Docs spreadsheet for the lazy: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj6iqCcCDX6rdFd…
(Make a copy or download it)

    • Yea that'll sort the 865 items alphabetically or price but not into tv's, stereo's, headsets, laptops etc etc

      • There's no easy way to do that without manual intervention or if OP scrapes categories from the pages and updates the list.

        • That's why I said "will be awesome if and when its categorised" ;-)

    • Thanks from us lazy people :)

  • It looks like a massive effort but are we +ing his/her website or the JB deals? Because the JB deals don't look like they deserve 300+ votes…

    • +1

We're +'ing both — the OP's effort and the JB hifi deals.

  • You, Sir, are a champion. Sterling effort.

  • 20% on all Samsung TV, right?

  • when does this deal expire?!

    NVM, found it. 31st dec

  • reckon they will do 20% off blurays?

  • How come the PS3 blu ray remote says no pick up?

Awesome concept. I can see this becoming a big boon for online shopping because of pricing transparency. You will become rich one day if you develop it into something more polished and wider in scope.
How can I buy shares in your startup?

  • thumbs up!

Great effort OP. Please change the title to point to your website instead of JB Hi fi deals as JB is getting unworthy publicity owing to your fantastic work. Cheers

  • +2

Any chance you could run the scripts this morning?

  • 2 for $20 Blu Rays with 20% extra off? Yes please. Landed SuperBad limited edition, The Hangover and Dawn of The Dead. Knew about the sale already but thanks to the OP for sharing with the OzBargain Community :D

  • How about more colour bands on the deal highlights? I was going to ask for customisable colour banding, but that's overkill. Just mark, say, the 75th and 90th percentile absolute price drops (of the whole db, not the day).

Or… give us a data feed, like camel^3 does, so we can do our own analyses on GSpreadies?

Damn you OzB, spending all my coin again. Picked up a Sony XAV701-BT MirrorLink 7" A/V head unit for $432.60 (retail around $800-$900). My second fav bargain this year, naturally the $9 Dell printer wins top prize! :D

We've just done a quick changeover, consider this an unofficial release - made it a bit easier to browse around and everything. If you guys have any bug reports (as this new page is very early and beta) let me know. The link above should just work for you, if it doesn't, do a Control+Shift+R.

low, high, ow, hn… clap, clap, clap!

      and then… sort!

      clap, clap, clap, encore, encore!

      • It seems like the low and high information wont be that useful until a few weeks/months down the track - although I notice a few items that are not at their maximum!

Maybe next I'll make a page dedicated to price increases. I'm going through this thread slowly adding in the little features I see, this will likely be the last update until the full release unless there are bugs :)

        • Here's one:

          Kingston DataTraveler Vault Privacy Blue 32GB USB 19.97 -$329.03 $19.97 $349.00 -94.28% Officeworks

      here's another cooky idea…

know how you're always torn between looking at the absolute $ and the relative % price differences?

if you multiply them both, you get a deal score that's more likely to show deals that are both good (in % discount) and relevant (in $ amount).

and then, if you're feeling geeky, take the square root, though that won't change the order of things.

      • I may just have to try that ;)

      • Hey wisdomteeth, if you'll have another look at the page… You'll notice the "Surprise Score" that is also sortable - it turns out it was a great indicator for a good bargain.

Also, hover over the link to sort "Surprise Score" for a little personalised touch ;)

        • Hey, Gecko, just seen this. Thanks for the cred; I appreciate it.

Ha! So you did take the square root after all! Pretty cool. I like it that when the base price is $100, or a round figure like that, the score will be equal to both $diff and %diff. Makes it look consistent. After all, it is just a geo avg of the two.

What do you reckon? Does it work?

        • It does seem to work fairly well, I think we'll start trying to put the "lowest price" into the formula as well..

So if it's the lowest price it's ever been, it'll show up as a great score..

Got plenty of time on my hands after work and that sort've thing so I'm sure I can come up with something!

        • Ready to take it to the next level? Ok, then if you simply multiply the score by (100% minus) the percentile of the current price against all recorded prices, it'll not only give you the best deals against yesterday's prices, but against the long run as well. Do count multiple daily records of the same price as multiple instances so that prices that suddenly drop after staying flat for a period get a higher score.

  • Damn- missed out on the Vault Privacy 32GB USB. Did anyone get one?

  • Can somebody recommend me a decent wireless-N router with modem? Or a good Wireless-N router only that's DD-WRT compat?

  • You might want to push all links through a de-refer service, otherwise they'll start getting a heap of referal hits from your site.

    eg. http://dereferer.org/start.asp

    • We thought about it. But then we thought maybe it would help our cause more if they did get a heap of referral links - they will be able to see it as a more viable advertising platform if they can see results.

  • A whole 5 likes on Facebook! It's going viral! Kidding - I've made a few more changes. If there are any usability issues let me know, I'm not great at usability.

  • Is the website server in US ? I am guessing as the screens have changed just now for the days ;-)

    • Yeah the webserver is in the US. Soon to be in Australia thanks to Amazons new Australian server farm!

      • Move it to China or somewhere where they won't bother coming after you :)

Also cheap hosting over there as well!

  • this is simply amazing ! I will always be checking this site into the new year and will wait for further developments ! hope it lives for a long time !

  • We've been very hard at work with very little sleep. Everyone should have another look now - especially click on the item names in the pages! :) Thinking about starting a forum post - but scared it might be considered "advertising"!

    • +1

Well done with the graph but it now takes two clicks to go to the product page. I would have preferred a separate link for the graph. I like the new look of the site too. Nice and clean.

Since you no longer show price increases companies should be happy with your site. it's free advertising for them. Although, as a consumer, I'd like to see price increases too.

  • How often is it updated at the moment? I'd like to know when to check back for new deals?

    • It's updated over the course of about midnight to 6am at the moment - but we've been running it fairly constantly throughout the day at the moment, but generally if you check it once daily you should be fine.

  • How does the screens on the Logitech harmony remotes go against dust? Does dust get behind screen?

  • +8

Kinda of stupid that we're upvoting this deal for the effort the OP did in showing the prices.
It comes off across as JB having a really awesome sale when it's not them who should be getting the praise here.

    • It was quite an awesome sale on the day - there were many, many unadvertised 30-60% off items on their site. It's just unfortunate (or fortunate?) that the deal page is dynamic in nature, so the day after it was listing the specials of the next day.
