Apple iPad 4 with Retina Display Wi-Fi 64GB $659 + $29 Delivery ($634.60 Officeworks Price Match)

150

As the lover of a real bargain, I was not happy with a mere standard 5-10% discount on a 64BG wi-fi iPad 4. I scored a 16% discount by calling Officeworks online orders 1300 633 423 and enquiring about their price match guarantee. OW agreed to offer 5% discount on Kogan's price of $659 + $29 shipping ($688 less 5% = $653.60) compared to RRP $758.

Delivery was to chosen OW store next day for following day collection ie I had ipad in 2 days. Not actually sure how the price of $634.60 was arrived at but it may help another Ozbargainer with a pricematch.

Criteria for pricematch are that both stores have to have the exact same make, model and colour in stock and therefore could be applied to all iPad models currently in stock at both stores. Check http://www.kogan.com/au/search/?keywords=ipad&keywords=4 and http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/search/ipad+retina?sort…

Could have done a little better had I got onto Kogan's free shipping a few days ago, or been going overseas for TRS claim of GST.
Paid on Amex cc for extra free year warranty.
Bought an iPad Smart Case for $39 (RRP $59) from www.wireless1.com.au

mod: Updated deal to link to Kogan and mention price match. Original uploaded receipt

No deal its a pricematch. You need to change it and link to the original Kogan deal. Then you can mention pricematch on the side if people so wish to get it.

    Officeworks are never consistent.

This. The only real positive out of this is the fact that the receipt will show a very good price for us to try price match with!

        Officework don't pricematch receipts..

    • So true

      See ongoing Officeworks complaints thread.

      • You are strangely obsessed with OW.. Disgruntled ex-employee I wonder ??

  • I tried price-matching with a receipt to various JB Hi Fi and Officeworks in the city and they won't accept it, saying that it has to be a published advertising :(
Anyone have any recommendation for Melbourne CBD stores that would accept a photo of receipt? Thanks in advance

  • Apologies for not observing posting requirements, I haven't posted before and just wanted other Ozbargainers to be able to acquire this deal. Would have thought most would know of Kogan's good prices already

I rang up OW central office about a month ago and tried this. They told me the online store does not offer price match g'tee

    • it's case by case and better do this in person.

      • How do you do this in person with an online store?

  • Well it shouldn't be and this is where they are inconsistent. Their policy is to either pricematch or not pricematch. Not 50/50.

    • when it comes to human price match, there is always a grey area.

  • When I called up OW, they explicitly told me iPads were an exception to the pricematch policy since they had so little profit with them. I realise now that's a lie.

Regarding the iPad smart cover, I couldn't find it on their site (wireless1.com.au), is it in store only?

      " I realise now that's a lie."

Or you could reason that the person at the online store that did the match was an idiot. They've sold for a GST inc price that is less than the GST ex price of Kogan. They discounted more than 5% and now they have to pay one 11th of the price to the government.

I think that searching for someone else to be as stupid is probably fruitless.

@OP: What day did you call up? Do you remember the name of the person you spoke to?

I just did an OW price beat for an "iPad with Retina display Wifi 16GB" which they sell for $498:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…

To beat Harvey Norman who sell it for $497:
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/ipad-wi-fi-16gb-with-retina-d…

It came to $472.15 after the 5% price beat.
They told me I can pick it up on Wednesday.

    • I checked on 1st and harvey and bumped the price to 532$. Anyone else have any idea where you can find a lowerd Ipad 16 gb price than 498$?
