          • @sillyhead: I just did two online quotes with AAMI. One for EX5 Inspire and one for EV3 Air SR. All other questions were answered the same. They came back $1504 and $1261 respectively.

            • @gaosong2101: Thanks for providing that information. So the EV3 is 19% cheaper to insure for you and the RRP for the EV3 is higher. Why do you think that would be?

              • @sillyhead: I just did one for my 16yo corolla and it came to 1.2k too. I think you're reading too much into it..

            • @gaosong2101: I have got the same amounts from Bingle. KIA is slightly higher.

      • +1

Just call the insurer. Most can do up a manual quote until the vehicle is listed online. Fairly standard with all new car launches

  • Does anyone know the details of the Starcharge Artemis Basic charger that’s included? Is it fixed at single phase 7kw? On the pdf Artemis spec sheet it says it’s actually 22kw ‘adjustable down to 7kw’

Very confusing wording. Wonder if they actually sell three different chargers 7 / 11 / 22 kw or it’s just one charge that can be setup depending on what power supply you have.

I think the Tesla charger offers this flexibility in the same charger

    • Looks like 3 seperate models, as there are some countries/stores offering the 7kw & 11kw versions only.

I would assume it is the Basic 7kw model being offered.

(But yes, it is confusing, because the product listing talks about the 22kw being down-ratable to 7kw.)

  • Ex5 Inspire grade packed with tech or MG4 xpower without tech but more fun to drive ? Assuming almost same price

  • I test drove the car twice. The first time, they turned the music up so loud that I didn’t notice the ice cream truck sound. The second time, with no music, I realized that every time you drive under 30 km/h, it makes that sound, which was really annoying.
Every time you drive near your house or in a 40 km/h zone with speed bumps, it happens.
Is there any news about whether they plan to turn off that sound very soon?

    • Playing a sound under 30km/h is an EU mandate (for safety of pedestrians), and for Australiam standards it is 20km/h afaik.

So they could potentially change the sound, and/or reduce the speed to 20km/h for Australia. But they cant turn off (any) sound altogether.

Changing the sound / making it user selectable would be sensible.

    • Went for a test drive and dealer said this one of top asked questions. OTA software update will allow you to change to an engine noise or croaking noise like work site utes have. All EVs in must now have some sort of pedestrian warning. Not just a Geely thing.

      • if only we can upload our own soundtracks.. the fun you could have

  • I also test-drove the Atto 3 and Sealion 7 on the same day, within 40 minutes. The driving feel is very different between the Ex5 Inspire, Atto 3, and Sealion 7. Of course, the Sealion 7 is more powerful, and its acceleration is more instant, but the Ex5 felt too mellow or too soft in the corners, I even felt a bit of nausea. If I felt that way, what about the back seat passengers?

Even considering all this, the Ex5 Inspire's price is unbeatable, except for that ice cream truck sound.

They did update it so the nonstop bing-bong warning can now be turned off, but not the under-30 km/h sound…

    • yes it's very noticeable because the car is otherwise so quiet. they seriously need to change the jingle

      • So, because of that noise, I don’t want to buy the EX5 anymore… I've been leaning a lot toward the Sealion 7, but they say stock won't arrive until April or May.

        • as per comment above all EVs need to have a jingle <20k/h? I haven't noticed it with other cars.

          • +1

@May4th: Technically, it's only mandated in Australia from November this year. (But given it's already required in other markets, I would assume manufacturers are already complying with it.)

Our car has it - ours sounds like an ambient kind of noise (not sure if all Kia/Hyundai EVs have the same sound).

          • @May4th: 30km/h …

          • @May4th: They'll turn on music and say, "Check out our amazing speakers!" But it's a trick, try the test drive again without music, and you'll see the diff

            • @OZBN: Geez its really not that noticable to be fair , definitely not a dealbreaker

    • Starcharge Artemis basic 7kw

      • Have you got the delivery?

        • I was told my charger would be shipped from the supplier

    • in vic they do have a stocks..

    • Can anyone confirm does it come with portable mobile charger or V2L adaptor?

      • No mobile charger

        • Hi, how about V2L adaptor? Are you able to negotiate anything extra from the dealer?

          • @darkcolony: No really as most of the dealers are busy with customer queires. They seems to be or pretending to be very busy with new car orders or inquiries.

  • +2

I had a test drive today and revoked my upvote here. The suspension is a deal breaker for me. The car is too floaty even on average Sydney roads. But in contrast, when it comes to speed bumps, it feels too harsh. It's such a pity that basically all other aspects of the car are so good.

    • have you tried/test drive BYD and is BYD better?

      • I haven't tried any BYD cars yet. I personally just don't like their design.

I have tried MG4 and it drives really well - certainly better than the EX5

        • I feel like BYD drives a bit better, more responsive.
Can't really compare with MG4 as it's a small hatchback, lower centre of gravity and RWD instead of FWD

      • I've test driven BYD, MG4, EX5, Teslas. EX5 suspension is rubbish and too soft, I didn't like it compared to other cars. However, I'm going for one more test drive of the EX5 as the price is just to good. Maybe I can get used to that suspension.

    • Same, the suspension and the ice cream truck sound…. or I’d go.

  • In case, like me, you have never heard of this brand. This company now also owns Volvo, Polestar, Smart, Lexus and a few more.

    • Lexus is Toyota but yes Lotus/Zeekr/Proton are their other brands

      • +1

Ah, you're right, @May4th. I meant to write Lotus, not Lexus.

    Hey everyone.
Just checking in with those who have placed an order.
So I managed to order a car from their stock list.
Everything is done from my side, finance approved (using their 3.88%) but still no definite date for pick up/handover.
A few pointers I was told by the dealer
    - Australia-wide, Geely is not yet ready to release it for mass on the road. Estimate ready by later this week to early next week.
    - They are rushing a fix for the ice cream truck, down to under 20km and different /options of noise. Fix by a USB update now or next time in service.
    - Charger will be post out to your home.
    - no floor mat provided, option for purchase but they haven't got any right now anyway.

Has anyone else been told the same info?

    Insurance
Got an online quote from Shannon, yes it is in the drop down list.
About $1,300 yearly, no extra if paid monthly.

    Cheers

I was told some time in April for delivery

      • Thanks for that. Im starting to think so too. My dealer is not giving me any solid answer.

    • +1

      Thanks for the update.

I ordered mine on March 19th, and the latest update is that it will be delivered next week.

No floor mats for me either. I ordered mine from the Geely China website. Free delivery, but it will probably take a few weeks to deliver them.

Hopefully our delivery dates will be confirmed soon.

      • +1

lots of handy things on the site. the karaoke microphone is tempting..

      • Did not know that is an option. Wow

      • @dazza666 Do you have a link to the floor mats you purchased? I’ve been looking online after I placed my EX5 order last week but can’t seem to find the factory ones in RHD.

        • +2

This is the link: https://www.geelyevs.com/en-au/collections/geely-ex5-accesso…. They sort of give the impression that they are Geely official, but I think they are not. It says they ship in 7days but mine shipped same day. They ship from china with free delivery, but looks like they will take 3 - 4 weeks to arrive.

          • @dazza666: Ah, thanks. I ordered a V2L adapter and the Center console trays from that site. I saw those floor mats there as well but kind of wanted to stick with carpeted mats instead of TPE. The dealer has just quoted me $220 today for the factory ones. Alternatively, I also spotted these Australian made ones today for $160 on sale but not sure when they will actually be available to order: https://www.rubbertree.com.au/product/119986/platinum-carpet…

            • @jondaphenom114: Thanks for that link. The mats are now showing $150 and RubberTree also has an Easter Sale of 20% off sitewide - bringing the price down to $120.
They also have free shipping Australia-wide.
              Excellent value

    • +1

The dealers now have original floor mats. Can be had for free when negotiating the purchase.

Shannons' insurance quote was the cheapest for me. Lowest price + lowest excess of $650. $1.5k annually.

      • Did you or anyone successfully negotiated it to be free?

It's so tough these days with high demand to ask for anything, at least during initial period.

        • +1

I got the original Geely floor mats and boot liner for free. The dealer said they're both in stock, however on the vehicle pick up there were only floor mats. The boot liner will be delivered sometime later.

  • -1

Geely basically controlling the supply to create a bit of fomo

  • BYD Shark looks good for going through Australia hills.

  • I've ordered the car and was expecting to get it by now. What have others been told will happen with the launch offer if the delivery is delayed past today, the last day for the launch offer?

    • +1

My dealer and most online comments indicate that Geely will honour the launch offer if the order is made even if delivery is delayed (despite the T&Cs)

  • My mind crumbles reading the title. Premium paint hahaha.

Starcharge, occording to geely stars charge at 21.6A. Sol oh sol how humans make you so small.

  • Very good value.

  • What does everybody think of the latest offer? The gift card seems like a good for people on novated lease.

    • This post might be better for discussion on the latest offering.

  • Hi. Did anyone receive the so call Geely wall charger after they ran out of the star charger?
    I’m still waiting for mine.
If anyone recieved the new Geely charger, can you please help me with the spec sheet please. A photo of it would be even better. Thanks
