I wonder what this means for the 50% off labels - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/897315
if now becomes end dated early …or if get 3 free, then after that still have the remaining 50% off

  • -2

Free postage labels, you’d hope so after 20% fees

    • Jesus, have they really jacked the fees to 20%?

      • +4

        Nope, it's still 13.4% + 30c.

  • +1

Great, we’ll bend you over for fees but here’s some free labels, woohooo

  • +3

Horrible place for honest sellers. Reps won't even listen you while dodgy buyers will screw you over.

    • +1

Have definitely heard some horror stories, thankfully have not had this experience over the past 10 years or so (though I just sell stuff I don't use, low volume).

I imagine marketplace and gumtree are full of clowns too though. The problem is people 🫠

How strange that I hear about this deal from Ozbargain, and Ebay have not sent me any communication to inform me of this offer.

  • Looks like I have this - not sure if they upgraded the 50% off ones or if its a new deal with the same expiry?

  • +2

13.4% (plus $0.30) doesn't sound like a lot but it is not cheap, especially when they also take a cut from postage (some respite from this deal).

But to their credit, was able to sell several unpopular items that weren't sold on other market places for a long time. Guess 86.6% of something is still better than 100% of nothing.

Just sent out a bunch of offers discounting postage (local pickup will be a lost), lets see if it is effective.

    • Especially when you're selling pricier items. 13.4% can be a lot.

    • +1

I sell on eBay and don't enjoy paying 13.4%+30c, but compared to some auction houses it's not that much.

It's quite common for auctioneers to charge 20% to the seller and 16.5%+ to the buyer. Scammells, Small & Whitfield, Kearns, Abbey's, etc. Danielle Elizabeth charges a whopping 33% to the buyer for bidding online. And they charge the seller fees too.

Obviously eBay does a lot less work than an auction house. They never handle the product, etc. But it's only when people venture into the world of auctioneers do they realize eBay isn't a complete rip off by comparison.

  • Targeted again..Ebayplus is a joke..

  • +1

I didn't get both of the ebay plus promotions, what is the secret to being targeted for these?

    • Maybe you sell too much. I know I do.

"You have had less than 100 orders or less than AUD $12k in sales over the past 12 months.

      • Definitely less than both of these conditions.

  • +1

Can anyone share the rsvp link to the promotion?

    • I second that. The link just takes you to a terms page. There are no instructions on how to claim under "how to claim" in the terms. Don't want to risk selling something and paying the absurd commission unless I know I got the offer.

      • I don't think you need to/can RSVP. I didn't even know about this promo, only when I went to print a postage label for something that sold yesterday I saw that it was free. It doesn't say whether or not you're targeted when creating the listing though, which is pretty daft.

  • Does it care about the weight? Could be a good deal for heavy items where shipping kills it

    • Nope. Perfect time to sell heavy items. Either profit from the shipping to offset FVF or provide free shipping to encourage a quick sale.

  • Is there a way to know if I sign up for eBay Plus if it'll let me use this?

    • It worked for me last time they ran this promo.

    • +4

I can confirm this worked for me just now. I sold something Friday, then 5 mins ago I signed up for the 1x month for $4.99, after I signed up I went to create a label for the already sold item and it comes up with "3x FREE postage labels……etc".
I have only sold about 10 items in the past couple of months.

I guess not 100% guaranteed to receive this offer with other users though.

Hope this helps anyone else out

      • Worked for me too, saved postage on 1 item so I guess I'm ahead.

  • Can any ebay plus members advise if they currently have a postage discount offer? I have something fairly bulky to post and would rejoin if there was a chance I could get a postage discount.
