What price are people holding on for?

      • +9

My predictions is around the lower $800 before the end of finance year sale.

          • +4

@kml22: Based on what? Most countries don't have stock, I'm impressed to see these below 1k.

            • +4

@beeze: In Australia the demand for $1000AUD graphics card is way lower then in America for $550USD Graphics cards.

              • +3

@vid_ghost: It will be interesting to see what effect tariffs play. If the demand isn't here in Australia, you would think AMD & NVDA will just supply the other countries to not take an unnecessary loss on each sale.

                • +7

@Mr Awesome: Unfortunately (Or fortunately for us), Europeans typically pay more due to VAT in most member countries.
Meanwhile SEA is plagued with import corruption paired with a much smaller market which can afford these GPUs and at times even higher VAT on GPUs.
GPUs are also in most cases a luxury item in SEA, and won't be upgraded as frequently compared to Australia where people are upgrading every 2-3 generations.
Retailers understand that and will choose to sell GPUs more infrequently, and opt for slightly higher prices for better margins instead of selling higher quantities.

It generally works out to the case where unless you're buying a GPU in Singapore, most other countries would be more expensive than the current price in Australia either by demand, import duties, tax etc…
With all those factors combined, Australia simply gets a lot of GPU imports and more opportunities for cards to be priced more competitively.

That's why the Australian market differ very much from the rest of the world. The 4070 TI Super 16GB never really went on sale in those countries, therefore why people (particularly reviewers) over there don't think it's an appropriate comparable to the 9070 XT.

There's been a large shift in GPU mindshare though, similar to how AMD's 9800X3D affected Intel sales (Based on Amazon Monthly sold history). Where you can occasionally find a 4070 TI Super 16GB for $100-200 aud cheaper than a 9070 XT in SEA.

                  • @Yve: Thanks for this comment - insightful.

                • @Mr Awesome: They will not supply America they will supply everywhere else where a 25% Tariff doesn't effect their "made in China" or Made in Taiwan product. Americans will be the losers here

          • @kml22: You think it's going to fall by more than a quarter in just over two months?

    • +9

Hodl til 9070XT reaper back to RRP!

      • +5

Yeah what a joke it went up $100 from release!

    • +2

$1k for a mid range card, NOT EVEN CLOSE

  • +2

How much is the MSRP for 9070xt

    • +5

      AU$1139

      • -4

I assume you based this on the first priced that popped up?

but if you convert the actual MSRP

        599 US Dollars = 951 Australian Dollars
        and sprinkle in GST $1046

so actual AU MSRP should be 1050 or 1100…
the $1139 seems like a AI hallucination number

        • +2

We shouldn't pay more than AUD1280 for a RX 9070 XT Nitro+ for example, max AUD1300
          For a Pulse AUD1050 and max AUD1100

        • +12

You said that $1139 AI hallucination number, but you also hallucinate yourself thinking that gpu pricing = direct conversion + GST

Look at Nvidia, 5070 is 549 USD and base on Australia site it's 1109 AUD https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/graphics-cards/50-serie….

Now you tell me another card with 599 USD should be 1050 or 1100 AUD? You can argue that AMD is different than Nvidia, well yes with cpu but for gpu, no.

        • +7

The AU RRP lowest is $1139. What you wrote is a hallucination. There are only partner cards and the RRP of them is set by each company, the lowest being $1139. What the price is in the US is not relevant.

  • +12

That puts a non xt in the right spot. Buying this or a xt for $1139 will give you same price per frame.

    • +4

Typical AMD, we compare it to it's big brother and ignore how much better value it is vs 5070 which is what it matches with more vram. If AMD had someone in marketing that just walked around and smacked the person with stupid ideas across the back of the head… They wouldn't be in this position. Lolll

    • according to my chart 999 std slightly beats a 1139 xt
but that's going off a combined game average fps of 109 and 119 respectively

  • +5

That is the price the 9070 non xt model should have been from the start, perhaps even a little less. never made sense for it to be such a small price difference to the XT.

    • Definitely or $50 less ($949) in Aus and it'd fly off the shelves. Close to $200 less than a reaper/MSRP card (I don't know what 5070s cost but a lot less than those too I assume).

      • 5070's are even more stupidly priced, hence while despite Nvidia making bugger all and there being a shortage of practically every other model there is plenty of stock available anytime you want a vanilla 5070. 5070 ti is also stupidly overpriced, but at least it is a decent card whereas the stock 5070 should be cheaper than a stock 9070.

        • +1

What a world we live in… Lol i got a reaper 9070XT, Im now happy to ignore the stupid market for another 3-4yrs loll honestly, the not getting annoyed at the current market because I don't need to look is in itself a massive bonus. Hehe

          • @scud70: gratz, I got the same card, couldn't be happier. would have gone 5070ti if the pricing wasn't insane.

  • +1

Great price, hard to say if and when it will go lower or what stock levels will be in the future.
Demand is outpacing supply around the world for now.

  • Currently only have a 650w PSU. Trying to work out if I should upgrade to this. Or just wait longer and get a whole new build with a 9070xt

I do wish this was like $750 or something though

    • +1

Can't see this gen getting that low and last gen is OOS … Unless Ai bubble blows soon even then it'd take a while.

    • +3

If that's your budget then buy a 7800 XT.

    • +4

I’m in a similar situation- the 9070 saves me a psu upgrade as well

    • +2

No need. I read some comments and did the PSU calculator on a 650w bronze PSU and it comes within the limit. I received and tested it last night, the full system is working fine.
5700x3d, 32gb ram, 6 fans, 9070 XT XFX Dual Fan.
Currently see power draw around 305w on full GPU load, and it once spiked up to 325w. CPU was around 30-40w draw.
Total system seems to be running stable after a full night of gaming.

    • It should be fine, undervolt and cap FPS using AMD chill for best results. I am using a 6800 XT with no issues on a PSU with only 450w on the 12v rail

  • 9070 XT hodl people

    AMD always do this

  • Tempting when I can probably still sell my Hybrid 3080 for $600-700 and this will fit in the 289mm space I have.

Probably not enough jump in performance to bother with actually.

  • +3

As others have said this puts the $ per frame on par with the 9070 XT when it's at the $1139 price. Here is a graph to show how it matches up to the 9070 XT and others. Note that the 9070 XT has the $1139 price in the graph, but in stock today it's best found at $1299. At $1299 the XT is $17.55 per frame compared to the $15.37 of this deal for the 9070.

  • Holding……

  • Anyone else here waiting for the RX9060XT 16GB? for around $550AUD?

    • I thought the 9060XT was only shipping with 12GB?

edit: nice I can see specced have been confirmed as with 16GB now. really starts to make Nvidia's 12GB 5070 look like the turd it is.

      • I believe there are both 16gb and 8gb models of the 9060XT.

As for weird 12gb configs, let's see if the 9070 GRE config I spotted actually makes it to market. (Which in my opinion would be a shame because it would imply that there's more perf than a 9060 XT but… less vram? I'm hoping they were placeholders, but they already had PCI ID and product names.)

        • 9060 XT should also use less power

  • -6

This benchmarks 24000, 4060 benchmarks 19000 for $499? 8GB of extra RAM can't be that much can it

    • It is a $499 AUD graphics card that sells for over $1000 because the world of computing demand has skyrocketed and they cannot manufacture graphics cards fast enough. Also duopoly and price fixing to increase prices each generation.

      • I bought my 1070 for $460 in 2016 when the AUD was worth a lot more as well. Add on inflation and it's difficult to expect things to stay the same.

        • 4060 is available today though, I don't understand why we would pay double for double RAM and a mild performance boost?

To add to this, so many say they regret their AMD GPU purchases due to crappy drivers/software/optimisation requiring very precise tweaks to get the best of things, along with BS to boost framerate (doubling it) while looking blurry.

Unless the game specifically supports the extra RAM (ie can utilise it) AND you're willing to optimise settings yourself, the 4060 is just so much cheaper and works out of the box…

        • +1

Technology generally beats inflation, just look at TVs for example. Only thing being inflated is profit margins.

    • +3

What benchmark? 9070 is more than double the speed of a 4060 in games, more at 1440p which is where this card is better suited for.

      • -4

more than double the speed of 4060 in games maybe if you have the double FPS AI crap on for fake double frames.

        • +4

No… It's just double the performance, full stop, as per every review out there. What are you talking about??

    • +2

Where did you get this numbers from? This card blows the $hit 4060 out of the water.

  • +2

I think today, I'd be happy with a $999 XT and a $850 non-XT, that would be a good price.

$999 non-XT is fine, but yeah, hodl probably be cheaper in a couple of months ($900 at least).

  • -3

Heard a rumor online this morning said the 9070 might be discontinued, and replaced with a new model 9070GRE.

    • unlikely, unless they have really good chip yields and all 9070's can clock to 9070XT speeds

  • +3

Genuine question here.. I bought a Sapphire Pure 9070 XT from this store almost exactly a week ago. The product was listed as being "in stock" at the time of purchase. I (stupidly with the benefit of hindsight) elected to pay via Bank Transfer, to avoid the 1% CC surcharge. I made immediate payment via bank transfer, but as it was a Saturday, the payment obviously wasnt received by Centre Com until the Monday morning. Centre Com's order confirmation email states that they will hold the allocated stock for 72 hours until payment is received. At some point on monday morning (less than 48 hours after the order was placed), i received an email confirming that they had received the payment. The order status then changed from "awaiting payment" to "awaiting stock".

    My obvious frustration was that it was heavily implied by CC that the physical stock was available and ready for immediate dispatch, but this clearly wasnt the case. No indication had been made by CC that i was paying for a "pre-order" of stock that hadnt arrived yet. And yet, when i reached out to CC, this was the response i received;

We sincerely apologise due to fluctuating stocks online we have requested supply to our supplier and should arrive on the 31st of March, once stock arrives order will be processed ASAP

    When i questioned this further, they stated in a follow up email;

*Yes, the current order has an allocation for the upcoming supply,… *

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with Centre Com before?
Im still honestly confused as to whether i wouldve received immediate despatch of my order had I elected to pay via credit card instead of bank transfer, or whether they were simply selling "not yet received" stock as being "in stock", which feels seriously misleading and probably of questionable legality..

    • +1

I am sorry to hear that, they should not do that, that is really shit but theses stores are known to do this type of shit…

      • Centrecom.. are usually pretty spot on, with their stock allocation…, when I buy stuff of them.. and I've bought lots of stuff from them….
and physical stock has always been available..

But I always.. use credit card / paypal … been burnt by other retailers, when using bank transfer.
For in demand items, lots of stuff it gets sold to someone who provides an immediate payment method..
We have no idea of the actual prioritisation or stock allocation rules of centrecom..

But generally with most e-retailers.. always use an immediate payment method..

When you look at it from a store point of view… better to sell the goods to someone, who pays for it immediately.. rather than someone.. who says, they will pay for it within 72 hours..

        • The other possibility. is was allocated to you.. but someone bought it as a walk in. ..
I almost bought a 9070 of the shelf from centrecom.. when I was there as a walk in for something else..
It was about to be sold to me.. they did some other checks.. and realise it had been allocated to someone already.. despite being in the display cabinet..

    • +1

I use Afterpay to avoid the surcharge. I only got scammed by fake stock at Scorptec, TWICE.

ASUS TUF 5090, showed in stock, paid by card, got cancelled. Took 2 weeks to get refund

XFX Mercury 9070 XT, showed in stock at Dandenong, selected Dandenong pick up, no updates for 3 days, then I asked them in-store, and they told me it was actually in-stock at Clayton. They told me it was because there was in stock but might receive a number of order higher than the stock in a specific store.

Meanwhile, I bought PowerColor Reaper 9070 XT using Afterpay at Centre Com. The item was ready 1.5 hours after the payment.

    • +2

Yeah this happened on the first morning of the release, bought from JW computers, with a lot of retailers showing in stock - Mwave, Scorptec, Centrecom, MSY, Umart, PC case gear etc.
Though I ordered within the first 30 mins of the release and was pick up too, my order wasn't ready for 2 weeks, where as a mate who ordered it via Centrecom got their order delivered in the first week. So it seems the retailers advise in stock as part of the allocation they will receive in a week or two to get the sale.

    • -1

should arrive on the 31st of March

That's only two days away, don't worry about it until that date has come and gone.

      • Yeah, appreciate that, but this was the reply I received on Tuesday when I contacted them about it. Its just misleading, because you're not able to make an informed buying decision as a consumer - perhaps I wouldn't have made the purchase through Centrecom if I had been made aware that the stock wouldnt arrive for a couple of weeks or so.

    • Sometimes these things happen to very popular products. This is the same with many stores. Sometimes you can get them to supply you an alternative brand thats in stock or expecting stock sooner!

      • +2

It shouldn't, though. Its not like I was the last one who ordered from the available stock, and the product went "out of stock" immediately after my order. Rather, i was probably one of the first to notice the product become available, and it remained listed as "in stock" for multiple hours afterwards. So either the stock wasnt truly reserved for my purchase and they accidentally(?) sold it to another customer, or, they never had the stock on hand in the first place, and were simply selling stock that they were expecting to receive 9 days later..

  • I'm now running one of these deshrouded in an NCase M1 with a pair of 120mm fans under it. Fits nicely, shroud and fans come off quickly with six screws on the backplate and two on the rear bracket. Backplate doesn't come off without removing the heatsink but still fits no drama.

    • Was it purely for the space saving advantage or did you get decent improvements in temps too?

      • +1

Didn't even check the temps, it's for noise. I have a pair of Noctua NF-A12x25 for that spot. They're much quieter to push the same amount of air. And even if they have to run at the same noise level as a GPU fan the frequencies they put off are far less annoying. That said it's much more convenient to do in the M1 than most cases.

  • +1

Still in-stock everywhere… 10 hours after post. How bad is this card compared to 9070 XT? Hardware Unboxed is claiming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWIIA-a9Q9A&t=747s) -8% in 1440p, and -12% in 4K for rasterization. At $999, which is 14% cheaper than the cheapest RX 9070 XT ($1139) ever sold at AU. You get more FPS/$ for this card compared to RX 9070 XT, why isn't it flying off the shelf?

    • +1

      -13% in 1440p ray tracing…

    • -1

People want the cool powerful version versus the power efficient one, I guess?

    • The gap between them isn't enough to entice people to go for the lower model… AMD is still hoping people compare this to 5070 but every one is comparing it to the MSRP XT and waiting for those to come into stock.

  • There a really good price on a top card. Get into it ppl

  • +1

Why would you even consider this over an xt

  • +5

Honestly, if 9070 (non-XT) was around $800-850 in Australia, it would sell so well..

  • -3

Hmm weird i thought the latest gpu is 5070? (5 series)

  • -5

Just remember Centrecom have a "No Change of Mind, No Return Policy" so if you make the wrong choice good luck to you

  • Would one say that the 7800XT is better buy at around $750?

Asking as want to upgrade from RTX 2070 Super.

    • The 7800XT doesn't support FSR4 as far as I'm aware

  • +2

The 9070XT needs to be this price before I'll bite.
