    Can I trust them?

  • It's Russian… can't be trusted.

    • -1

Why? Check the reviews. Kaspersky trounces the competition. Even Norton and mcafee behave like spyware

  • +18

The Australian Government recently banned the use of Kaspersky for all government devices and web services:
    https://www.protectivesecurity.gov.au/news/pspf-direction-up…

Is this a genuine security issue or a geo-political matter? - who knows. Make sure you do your due diligence!

    • +7

      Political.

But the old school AV companies are a shadow of their former selves. These days with bloated, memory hogging, bug riddled software The cure is worse then the disease.

    • -1

      Its a bit of both.

    • +1

It's a security issue at least due to political reasons, likely not only.

    • -1

It's political. Besides the same politicians have no idea about how antivirus software works and the risks you have. Kaspersky has demonstrated time and time that it's among the best

  • People still use this junk?

  • No bitdefender deal lately…

    • +3

I'm a Malwarebytes fan….Black Friday Brazil deals are quite good :-)

  • +6

It is the best antivirus program. Thanks Putin!

  • Do I need this if I click on the sexy ladies in my area in all the pop up windows?

  • I have bought previously - didn't like how Kaspersky changed the installation/rego process.

  • -1

Please, no-one use this! No matter how cheap, its not worth it. It could be $0 and I'd still people not to use it…

  • +4

#TIL some people still pay for antivirus

  • +1

DO NOT BUY Kaspersky. Very highly likely a nation wide ban will be issued this year.

    • -1

False. Can't be banned. The software police gonna break form your door for using the wrong antivirus?

      • +5

Pretty much. Its already banned from bieng used in federal and state level. Slowly would be suppliers and then all third parties. I dont have a vendetta against Kaspersky, i just would hate for people to spend their money on this product.

        • -2

Name one software that is banned.

  • +12

I'm honestly still waiting for actual proof to show up that kaspersky is bad. All I ever see is people just saying its bad. Australian govenrment banned it from their offices, yet they have things like facebook etc still installed that actively leeches info and sells to china and anywhere else.

    • +6

Meh I use Kaspersky for years and will continue doing so, it's the best AV. Barely uses any resources, sometimes i forget i have it installed until it blocks a malicious link

      • +1

Same. There was that one nasty virus that came out a few years back. The only one that could get rid of it was kaspersky. The rest took a couple days or more to fix their protection.

      • +1

        This.

For some reason windows 11 doesn't like the right click on a file menu that used to be there, where you could scan a file for viruses. Have to go into Kaspersky manually and ask it to do a selective scan.

        Unless I'm missing something

        • I'm still on windows 10, i have the "scan for viruses" option when i right click a file. I'm pretty sure there's a context menu option somewhere in the settings in the version that i have installed (Kaspersky Internet Security)

        • +1

On 11 and this happens for me too. Bit annoying to go the extra couple steps. Mind you this isnt the only stupid thing win11 did. Even the right-click menu is hiding stuff thats frequently used.

        • It's still there when you right-click on a file, but look for "Kaspersky" in the menu options, then there'll be a "Scan for viruses" option.

      • +1

I use Kaspersky and have used it for years. The only 2 AV programs that I would have on my computers are Kaspersky & Bitdefender.

All these people who say Kaspersky spies on you, but provide no proof, yet happily have Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Insta, etc. on their computers.

    • Have been using kaspersky for years and will continue to do so

  • +2

Don't buy any AV and definitely don't buy this one.

    • -3

      Includes VPN and password manager

      • Awesome. More reasons not to get this.
Bit warden is free and if you're on ozb you'll know good VPN deals pops up every other month.

  • +2

Windows Security should be enough, don't waste your money on crap.

  • +1

    1 year goes by quick.

  • +1

Great software. Been using Kaspersky for 10+ years now. I use the Free version.

  • bitdefender for life!

    • Bloody Good AV, but can never get it at the price I get Kaspersky.

  • 10 yrs one device and we’ve got a deal

  • Among the best antivirus suite out there. The Aussie govt might ban it but the same people who voted to ban are happy to indulge in insider trading.
