Stacks with buy 2 get 1 free deal. Got 3 4K blurays of quality films for $55. Winning

    • +2

Not really. It's BOGOF every May. If you waited it'd be cheaper.

They do the 25% every year to flush out some sales before it gets cheaper.

      • +1

Maths says yes really. 25% off means they paid the equivalent of 1.5 full price 4K blurays and received 3 x 4K blurays.

        75% 1st 4K + 75% 2nd 4K + free 3rd 4K.

        • Yeah ok, supposing they didn't want a fourth item or to select from the full catalogue

        • -1

Buy 2 get 1 free means you save 1/3rd of the price (assuming you wanted 3).
Stacking with 25% off means you end up paying overall (1-1/3)*(1-0.25)=0.5=50% of the price.

Alternatively BOGOF is 50% off the price.

So both deals are the same discount. And you're both wrong.

          • @tenpercent: Lol u stack b1g1f with. 20 or 2% off if course

            • @Be careful: Obviously you would stack the BOGOF with whatever else is on offer at the time, but that was not what was being discussed. Thank you for your insightful contribution.

576i interlaced DVD still around lolol

I hope people still have their CRT TVs to watch these on.

    • +3

Some movies and TV shows are still only released on DVD.

      • Well yeah, I mean, some movies were only ever released on VHS and not DVD. Doesn't mean they should still be sold.

        • Communist nth Korea awaits you..

    • +1

DVD still outsells Blu-ray on average I think. That’s the only reason they’re still sold.

      • +1

That is so weird people cling to DVD with all of its outdated tech and shortcomings.

        • Cheaper.

        • Tell me about it. I just cleared a collection of 3000 dvds. I started thinking I would give them to the op shop, but they didn't want to deal with more than 50 or so at a time. So I listed them on facebook in lots of 1000 for $150. Got about 30 replies in 1 day

      • I know people who kept buying DVDs purely because they hated the change in case form-factor that Blu-ray introduced as it would segregate their collections.

People really are that silly sometimes. Those same people are playing said DVDs on Blu-ray players.

        • How dare people like aesthetics

    • Let me guess, you have netflix. Lol

Most 4k players will upscale dvds and they look pretty damn decent on a modern display I must say.

      • No I don't have Netflix or any streaming services.

    BOGOF coming up. HODL.

Although last year they were more miserly, putting everything up to higher than normal price and not running an extra 20% at the end of the sale like they did in previous years.

    • They don’t want to make less money , just because there’s less customers spending less money.
I bought a 4 slice toaster there the other day because I had gift cards from previous phone deals they’ve done, for $124.
      But I had a feeling i might have overpaid a bit .
Hint ; don’t go into a retailer thinking you owe them for a past deal ,
they will bend you over and take what they can.

  • Feels like they haven't done a Blu Ray deal in a while. Daddy needs his movies

  • I’m curious what are the recent BLU-RAY movies worth getting at this price?

    • -4

For 99.9% of people out there. DVD’s and Blurays are an absolute waste of time, money and space.

It’s the super nerdy audiophile’s that have $10k home entertainment setups that will find the benefit of a physical Bluray, to whom this is a justified spend.

      • +1

        I feel personally attacked ;)

My home theatre setup probably is about $10k, but that includes OLED TV, AV receiver, 5.1.2 speaker system, PS5, Apple TV 4K etc. Speakers are about 20 years old now. It was all purchased gradually over time.

      • Maybe it's my literal $10K+ home entertainment setup at home talking, but it genuinely baffles me how 'general' people can't see or don't care about the difference between streaming and Blu-ray. Like, it doesn't take good equipment or even good eyes to see the difference.

Audio, I can understand and say Dolby Digital 640kbps streaming is good enough (although I prefer lossless formats), but video? Absolutely no way people can't notice. It's night and day. My dad's vision is terrible and even he can see the difference between high bitrate and low bitrate (and is sensitive to mismatched frame rates too).

This is all ignoring the main benefit of physical media, and that's that it can't be revoked from you.

        • The people that don’t care if can’t tell thd difference think bass produced Hollywood movies are great

      • +1

U forget those without fast internet or streaming devices. Many are not in streaming either

  • Ended up getting a few to add to collection $142.40 all up
