100% Cashback (as TCN Digital Prepaid Mastercard) on Mainland Buttersoft / Cheese Purchase @ Mainland (Mobile Number Required)

4608

Spotted promotional QR code on a tub of butter I bought this week. It says "Love us or your money back" but it seems more like "try us out, it's on us".

  • Purchase period: Sunday 20th April - Tuesday 3rd June 2025 AEST
  • Claim period: Wednesday 30th April - Tuesday 3rd June 2025 AEST
  • Participating retailers: any Coles, Woolworths, Aldi or Independent supermarket, in store or online

https://mainlandmoneyback.com.au/terms-and-conditions

A maximum of 2 claims per individual are allowed, but 1 claim must be for a Buttersoft Participating Product and 1 claim must be for a Mainland cheese Participating Product. Each claim must be submitted separately. If both products are purchased in the same transaction, the Qualifying Purchase receipt must be submitted for each claim.

To submit a claim, individuals must then undertake the following steps during the Offer Period:

  1. Visit https://www.mainland.com.au/moneyback and follow the prompts to the claim page;
  2. Input the requested details including full name, valid email address, a mobile phone number and purchase details (including the Participating Product purchased, the Participating Retailer and purchase price);
  3. Once a mobile phone number is inputted, individuals will be sent a unique verification code via SMS to validate their mobile phone number. Individuals will then be required to enter the unique verification code when prompted to verify their details;
  4. Upload a photograph of their Qualifying Purchase receipt, which must comply with the requirements set out in clause 10;
  5. Provide an explanation in 15 words or more as to their experience with the Participating Product; and then
  6. Submit the fully completed online claim form.

For clarity, in order for a claim to be validated, a Qualifying Purchase receipt must clearly specify:

  1. the Participating Product(s) purchased;
  2. the price of the Participating Product(s) purchased;
  3. that the purchase was made at a Participating Retailer;
  4. the purchase date and time;
  5. the full receipt number (located under the receipt barcode); and
  6. that payment for the Participating Product(s) has been received in full.

Upon submitting a claim form, individuals will receive an email to confirm that their provisional claim has been received for validation. Once validated, the individual will receive a Digital Prepaid Mastercard (“Digital Card”) within ten (10) business days of validation to the email address specified in the claim. Each Digital Card will be loaded with the value of the original purchase price paid by the claimant for the Participating Product as indicated on the Qualifying Purchase receipt (“Reward”)

I lodged claims about 5 May just got them back 20 May. GF got hers 20 May too, despite not reading and saying she LOVED the products (purchased 1 May prior to the change of terms).

Horrible promo and overpriced product, boycotting in future.

  • +1

Using this promo as cover to raise prices from $7.50 to $9.50!

  • I'd hoped to add these cards to PayPay for easy spending via split payments. But they won't add to it.
Do any online liquor stores offer split payments anyone?

    • +3

I used my credit to purchase WISH e-gift cards which when combined with my seniors card gets me a 5% discount. I then spent the money either at Woolworths, BWS or a connected petrol station getting me most of my daily needs.

The credit can also be used in partly pay energy, water or council tax bills. The insurance bills demanded payment in full so they didn't work there.

  • +1

Purchase price field is limited to $11 (on the vintage 400g cheese, at least). I purchased for $11.50 from a supamart. So not quite 100% cashback in all cases.

    • Thanks, you saved me $1.45!

  • +1

Phew finally got my cards after many emails but…..
They both show $0 on the balance checker! What is wrong with this company?

  • +1

Submitted the second entry, this time for cheese (1st time was butter) and got the message:
    ENTRY LIMIT REACHED
You have reached the entry limit for this promotion. Thanks for entering!
Can I take this as they accepted the submission or that they've rejected it? No entry ID so feel like it's the latter. Confusing.

  • +1

I entered today claiming on the butter, no problems of it going through. Now just have to sit and wait to see if they accept it.

  • +1

I was declined for the following reason just now

From what you shared, it sounds like you genuinely enjoyed our Mainland products, which is wonderful to hear! This means that your claim doesn’t meet the ‘satisfaction guaranteed’ refund criteria, but we’d like to thank you again for being part of the Mainland community!

    • +2

Reply and explain that 'good' isn't 'love'. Their advertising was "love it or money back".

They try shifting the goal post with their claims form. If the product was genuinely bad, Coles/Woolies would always have done a refund out of their own pocket (and maybe passed on the cost to Mainland). If Mainland only want to pay out in the same scenario, the whole promo is a sham.

      • "maybe" 😂😂😂

  • +2

    Submitted negative feedback 10th
Received cards on 26th. Both had correct balance
    Took 11 business days

  • +3

I asked chatgpt to write me negative reviews and I received my Cashback. It took 9 business days to get the gift card

  • Anyone found Colby either in slices or block in Sydney? Been to a number of supermarkets, couldn't find any.

    • Some IGAs have it, both slices and blocks.

  • Anyone submitted claims recently (in this week)?

Someone made a comment about saying that "ENTRY LIMIT REACHED".

Wondering what this means for me if I plan to purchase and claim by Friday.

    • I think it meant (for them) IE the system detected that they had already had their two entries

    • I don't know about the claiming by Friday, but the ENTRY LIMIT REACHED message is Mainland's message to itself that 2 entries, whether successful or not, have already been made. If you get this message, email the company to explain and they'll respond.

    • i submitted one 2 days ago through the form successfully. Still waiting on gift cards though

      • Did you receive an email stating

Your provisional claim has been received

which my husband did when he claimed a couple of weeks ago.
When I claimed 2 days ago, I got an acknowledgement on the web page but did not receive the email.

        • Yeah i got it. Check your junk?

          • @cheapass88: Thanks, found one in junk but not second.

  • Is anyone getting "Failed to submit. Please check the form for any errors and try again."? All my details are correct.

    • Nevermind. It appears the receipt cannot be more than 2mb

  • Can the gift card be used anywhere?

    • +4

Should be, it's a prepaid Mastercard, can be added to digital wallets for instore use.

Use it to pay utility bills would be the easiest, any amount, immediate use.

      • I paid ATO

      • I put mine in Android Digital Wallet but whenever I try to use anything from there it does not work. I hold my phone next to the machine as instructed by the cashier. Can you advise if there is something I am doing wrong?

        • +4

They don't work at all retailers. Save the headache and just pay an online bill with them.

          • @mysterytal: Ok great. Thanks for the advice. :-)

          • -1

@mysterytal: I have uploaded TCN gift card on Apple Wallet. I am not able to pay AGL bill. Could you please inform me the steps to use these cards.

            • +1

@connectaxp: Don't use Apple pay just enter the card details directly onto the AGL website.

              • -1

@mysterytal: Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to undo the card from Apple Wallet , additionally, the digital card which we received in email has Alphanumeric value and no expiry date (mm/yy) mentioned. The AGL website required numeric card number, expiry date and CVV. Could you please share how to resolve this?

                • @connectaxp: The TCN app shows the full card number, the expiry date and you can flip the card over to read the CVV number.

                  • @mysterytal: Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I can see the details now on TCN app.

  • i wasn't able to add these to amazon to buy gift cards. i was able to previously with a tcn prepaid mastercard from another company.

    • +1

Transaction details in TCN app for attempted Amazon gift card purchase show "Cash withdrawal not allowed on this card."

      • Same trying to add in PayPal wallet

  • Bought and claimed 23/5.
Validated and gift card received 2/6.
Only claimed for butter, took 6 business days.

  • +2

I bought and claimed the offer on 2/6.
It was validated, and I received the gift card just 6 hours later.
Mainland keeps their promise—just like Jaime Lannister, they pay their debts.

  • +1

This is too funny. Looks like mainland only wanted to offer money back if not satisfied but their promotions team set it out like a claim. I imagine the Coles catalogue was only meant to say we are so confident in our product, but if you don’t love it will give you your money back.

    • +5

It serves them right for having the audacity to charge $10 for a simple tub of butter

  • +1

Reminder that today 3 June is last day for claiming. It is great that some others got it validated so quickly in 6 hours, wonder how that works when still waiting 10 days later here?

    • 6hr… Took 90 min to validate & receive MC on claim lodged today🎉

Likely less claims to process at end of promotion & possibly more staff assigned to clear backlog.

  • +1

Lodged 2 claims 3 hours ago
Took 90 min to receive MC🎉
"Your claim has been validated, here is your Digital Prepaid Mastercard®"

  • Lodged 2 claims just now…

    • One claim approved late last night, hopefully the other comes through soon.

      • +1

Got the second email approval a week later

  • Received prepaid mastercard but it has nil balance.

  • I did my claims like 5 days ago and still waiting on gift cards:(

  • Were we allowed 2 claims per person, on for butter and other for cheese?

    • Yes. 1 of each type, from the participating list.

A maximum of 2 claims per individual are allowed, but 1 claim must be for a Buttersoft Participating Product and 1 claim must be for a Mainland cheese Participating Product.

      • +1

Mine has been rejected saying Your entry has been invalidated because the receipt has been used in another entry or you have exceeded the maximum number of claims.

Only had 1 claim so far for Cheese and this one is for butter

        • +1

Respond to that email to explain the situation.

Many people I know have successfully made 2 claims.

Their own T&C says to submit the same receipt for both claims.

A maximum of 2 claims per individual are allowed, but 1 claim must be for a Buttersoft™ Participating Product and 1 claim must be for a Mainland™ cheese Participating Product. Each claim must be submitted separately. If both products are purchased in the same transaction, the Qualifying Purchase receipt must be submitted for each claim.

        • I got the same although I did buy 2 products

  • +4

Made to claims but one got knocked back.I won't be buying there products again.
    Buy Australian cheese and butter.

  • +2

I have received my cards—thank you for that.
It's evident that the volume of claims has been overwhelming, and many people experienced difficulties during the claims process, which has negatively impacted the company's reputation.
Despite the scale of the promotion, I would consider it a significant failure.
I genuinely feel sorry for whoever made the decision to proceed with this type of promotion.

    • +2

Probably better to to have a promotional price.

  • +1

got this reply from mainland after 10 days

We have reviewed your claim and were unable to successfully validate your entry.

Your entry has been invalidated because the receipt could not be clearly read, which may include the legibility of the image, if part of the receipt was cut-off (for example the barcode or transaction number) or if the image is not a receipt. Please re-submit a clear version of the full receipt.

If you wish to resubmit, please reply to this email ensuring all required information is clear, legible and meets the eligibility criteria.

Please allow up to 5 business days for a response.

    Thank you,

    The Mainland™ Team

My family last two claims has rejected with the following message. no muck up on receipt submit, no good review, receipt is genuinely clear and obvious to be seen (by a human). anyone got similar reject messages? do you just resend them the same thing or what. or just give up and eat the cheese?

    • I sent them the receipt as PDF from the Coles app then the claim was validated. Otherwise try again with another image.

  • +3

They thought their products are so great that people would like them and not say bad things just to get their money back.

Surprise! They have miscalculated. Then they tried to save it by making the claims difficult and getting a bad rep in return.

Particularly changing T&C on the fly and later rejecting due to "legibility of the image", I know people attached digital receipts and got that message.

While I thank them for approved claims, certainly won't be buying any of their products as long as other alternatives exist.

A marketing failure - what not to do to promote products.

  • Bought for 2 person in household, first person claimed without problem, 2nd person (separate receipt) rejected claiming "We have reviewed your claim and were unable to successfully validate your entry.

Your entry has been invalidated because the receipt has been used in another entry or you have exceeded the maximum number of claims."

    WTF

    • Same email or mobile? Otherwise complain on the FB page.

    • +1

Now that the promotion has ended they have more time to scrutinise and to make things difficult.

It's a Mainland promotion, but ran by Handling Matters, thinking about it maybe it's the third party fking things up.

  • Any wayt to open TCN gift card the different phone to the one used for claim?

    • +3

TCN doesn't check, you can use same mobile for all GCs.

  • +1

whats their contacts so i can submit a complaint as i never got an email or sms when trying to submit claim via my mobile their browser had bugs
? will they still accept via email complaint?

    • +1

They would direct you to mainlandmbg@handlingmatters.com.au, they out sourced the campaign to this company.

While Handling Matters would have taken instructions from Mainland, any inconsistencies or poor interactions would be on Handling Matters.

      • “ We'll handle validation, packing, printing, and winner’s notification with ease.”

I actually think it’s mainland. As mainland is making the decision of what qualifies as a valid entry.

  • Received a response to my butter claim,

From what you shared, it sounds like you genuinely enjoyed our Mainland products, which is wonderful to hear! This means that your claim doesn’t meet the ‘satisfaction guaranteed’ refund criteria, but we’d like to thank you again for being part of the Mainland community!

    What I wrote was:

The taste is good, but it's hard to spread and tends to break the bread. Could you please make a salt free butter?

This was nearly identical to what my husband wrote earlier in the campaign, and his was approved.

It seems like they just read the first 4 words. I will resubmit, quoting the whole text.

    • +1

The first word should have been "Dissatisfied", so it's clear that everything follows is in the context of dissatisfaction.

      • Yes, you are most likely correct. My mistake in thinking they would read the whole 22 words.

        • +2

Yeah reply to the email, a different reviewer will probably give you the cashback.

          • @Paul B: Thank you, I have on the 10th.. No reply yet.

  • Claimed both in the final hour. Received the $ on 10/6, no issues.

  • do these cards work at coles/woolies?

    • +1

      Yes
