100% Cashback (as TCN Digital Prepaid Mastercard) on Mainland Buttersoft / Cheese Purchase @ Mainland (Mobile Number Required)

4608

Spotted promotional QR code on a tub of butter I bought this week. It says "Love us or your money back" but it seems more like "try us out, it's on us".

  • Purchase period: Sunday 20th April - Tuesday 3rd June 2025 AEST
  • Claim period: Wednesday 30th April - Tuesday 3rd June 2025 AEST
  • Participating retailers: any Coles, Woolworths, Aldi or Independent supermarket, in store or online

https://mainlandmoneyback.com.au/terms-and-conditions

A maximum of 2 claims per individual are allowed, but 1 claim must be for a Buttersoft Participating Product and 1 claim must be for a Mainland cheese Participating Product. Each claim must be submitted separately. If both products are purchased in the same transaction, the Qualifying Purchase receipt must be submitted for each claim.

To submit a claim, individuals must then undertake the following steps during the Offer Period:

  1. Visit https://www.mainland.com.au/moneyback and follow the prompts to the claim page;
  2. Input the requested details including full name, valid email address, a mobile phone number and purchase details (including the Participating Product purchased, the Participating Retailer and purchase price);
  3. Once a mobile phone number is inputted, individuals will be sent a unique verification code via SMS to validate their mobile phone number. Individuals will then be required to enter the unique verification code when prompted to verify their details;
  4. Upload a photograph of their Qualifying Purchase receipt, which must comply with the requirements set out in clause 10;
  5. Provide an explanation in 15 words or more as to their experience with the Participating Product; and then
  6. Submit the fully completed online claim form.

For clarity, in order for a claim to be validated, a Qualifying Purchase receipt must clearly specify:

  1. the Participating Product(s) purchased;
  2. the price of the Participating Product(s) purchased;
  3. that the purchase was made at a Participating Retailer;
  4. the purchase date and time;
  5. the full receipt number (located under the receipt barcode); and
  6. that payment for the Participating Product(s) has been received in full.

Upon submitting a claim form, individuals will receive an email to confirm that their provisional claim has been received for validation. Once validated, the individual will receive a Digital Prepaid Mastercard (“Digital Card”) within ten (10) business days of validation to the email address specified in the claim. Each Digital Card will be loaded with the value of the original purchase price paid by the claimant for the Participating Product as indicated on the Qualifying Purchase receipt (“Reward”)

    01/05/2025: Original submission
    06/05/2025: Resubmission via email reply
    10/05/2025: Giftcards received

    • +2

Did the same on those timeline as well but haven’t received any email from them since the resubmission on 6/5

      • Same here with those timelines.
Nothing received at all on one submission and nothing on the other after resubmitting with corrected answer over 15 words.

  • +3

Got the GC's and just quickly used it all up to top up utilities balance.

  • +6

I lodged on 3rd may and oddly got 1 of the gift cards this morning at 8:30 but no sign of the other one yet.

Edit: turns out the TCN card app is pure aids, if you get stuck with all the errors try completely killing the app and reopen and it might start working.

    • Exactly same here - x2 claims submitted 3.5 and x1 Claim Giftacrd received this morning What has happended to the second one? Sent an email reply re this to Claim so far not approved

  • +2

I have gone back and forth with their Facebook team who got the cards issued after a huge hassle. I am getting an error message for the cards now.

This is a horse shi* promotion

    • +3

It is not surprising according to similar posts in the past.

Promoters who reluctantly issued cashbacks or rejected claims: Ben & Jerry’s, Lindt, Moccona.

One of the last comments in Ben & Jerry’s said it took 63 e-mails to get the cashback.

  • Made 4 claims - two each for myself and the wife, but only received two cards - one each for the butter only. No idea when or if the other ones will arrive.

One of the cards loaded incorrectly with $0.00, have contacted TCN for resolution.

    • +1

One of the cards loaded incorrectly with $0.00, have contacted TCN for resolution.

Mine said that on the web page but in the app it had the correct amount.

      • No, the app also says $0.00, hopefully it updates sometime later to the correct amount.

Interestingly, in the Apple wallet it was the generic unbranded card, while the other one had the Mainland branding.

2 claims on 30th April and still nothing

    • +1

      Same!

    • +1

      Same here as well

  • Received both cards last night. Submitted both claims on 30th April, no rejections.

  • +1

I got my second claim approved, but when trying to claim via the link, the SMS never comes. Sigh.

    • Same! Please write here if you resolve it.

      • +1

I honestly don't know if I can be bothered calling the TCN phone line over $6.50. Buuuut if I don't do it then they win

2 claims approved on 1st may, havnt heard anything since

  • +1

    Just received my gift card.
    Submission was 4/5.

  • +3

Submitted 2 claims, received only one gift card 2 days ago. Nothing about 2nd claim.

    • Same here - I reply emailed them Sat morning with 2nd unpaid claim and pointed out another claim paid - autoreturn email saying 10 days - then Sat evening got a second email for the claim already paid
Not sure what is going on…..

    • Same here - received card for a claim with positive review and none yet for the claim that had a negative one.

      • Received the second one now.

    • +1 - only one SMS arrived. Please write here if you resolve this

  • +1

Two claims, submitted on May 1st - no communications of any kind.

    • +1 me too

  • submitted on may 2nd. still no email today

  • +2

Noting that there’s also been a change to the submission process.

No email is required anymore - just number.

  • +2

Posted on their FB about the 5 business day validation being a joke. Got messaged and asked to provide claim details. Sent them through so hopefully someone is reviewing it and dealing with this disaster promotion.

  • I put in claims today. I put in negative comments only, as per their instruction below. Why are people with claims approved for positive comments and not negative comments?
I did what they asked. I used both products and wrote anything negative i thought about them. Did they want positive or negative comments or both? It clearly says negative comments below. Did i do something wrong?

In 15 words or more, tell us about why your experience with your Mainland product has been less than satisfactory?

    • +1

Read the whole thread and you will understand. They have changed the terms and conditions.

    • +1

What are your asking? You say you put in a claim today. Did you expect a response from them already.

    • +1

maybe if you read the context of the 5 pages of comments on here you would understand

  • +2

Two claims submitted on 02/05 and no updates yet

  • +6

Finally got the last two claims paid from submissions on 30/04 and 1/05. A total of $41 for 2 butters and 2 cheeses.

Obviously not how Mainland/Fonterra planned for this promotion to proceed due to poor wording before the update, but good to see them paying out in the end even if they had to be dragged there.

I'd probably not bother if I had known how much mucking around was involved.

    • Did you had to email them and chase them up?

I submitted 2 claims one after the other on 5th May, received only one gift card today. Didn’t or haven’t heard anything about the 2nd claim. Not sure if I should email them to chase up or wait a little longer.

      • Leave a Facebook post and see if they follow up

      • I was getting ready to follow up, but got their email before that.

        • Yeah I got a 2nd email this morning too but it was the same as the 1st one.

  • +1

Whats the best way to use the prepaid card online? I can't seem to add the card to Amazon.

    • +4

I converted them all to Woolworths gift cards using my seniors card discount to get 5% off.

    • +4

Pay off bits of your council rates / utilities ASAP.
I always use them up asap, before I forget I even had them.

  • +1

I got my $7.50 approved for my butter purchase.

Interestingly I wrote a positive spiel about the product. Also the price at Coles and Woollies for the butter has increased to $9.50 for the 375ml. So it seems this promo is being offset with price increases across the board.

    • +2

Yes! And 375g Buttersoft is on "SALE"and criminal coles for $8 this week - 2 weeks ago was $7.50 Switch to Aldi NZ Buttersoft for $6.50

  • +1

I got one of my claim validation emails yesterday at 6pm, then an identical ema again at 1:45am… Both with same claim number etc and link to the same TCN card.

Will wait a few more days to see if the other claim email arrives I guess…

    Anyone else had this?

    • Got one Saturday after sending two followup emails. Send a FB message Tuesday night and received second card this morning. Originally lodged both claims on 1/5.

    • same as @Jayblesz

    • Same just happened to me yesterday/today.

      • Update: I got my 2nd gift card today (2 days apart from receiving the 1st gift card) without me having to email them anything.

Both had negative comments about price and both were lengthy.

    • I emailed last night saying as such, didn't receive a direct response, but received the second GC this morning. Worth it, one email sent and free good cheese and butter. Thanks OP

  • Claimed on 1st May. Got first giftcard a few days ago and one today. Very convoluted way of redeeming with TCN.

  • Finally got my 2nd gift card yesterday after 13 days of waiting. I have no complaints despite the delays. The TCN app is bad but I was able to add them to my digital wallet after a few minutes.

  • Still waiting claimed on the 4th May.

  • Got 1 out of 2 gift cards. Claim submitted on 4 May 2025. Feedback was somewhat negative (positive about taste but negative price)

    • Same here

  • Finally!

    • 01/May: one claim submitted
    • 06/May: received unable to validate email
    • 06/May: re-submitted by replying to that email with more words
    • 12/May: sent a follow up email
    • 14/May: received cashback email
    • 14/May: used cashback to pay upcoming utility

    Next step: buy more.

  • I've received both the TCN gift cards without contacting Mainland. Submitted the claim for 1 x Butter and 1 x Cheese from the same receipt on 3rd May. Gave negative feedback with more than 15 words as per the T&Cs. The gift card for the butter was received on 10th May. It was sent twice in the morning and afternoon. Received the second gift card for the cheese this afternoon. Took about 11 days for both. Hope you all receive yours soon.

  • Got first out of 2. Tried to convert to an Amazon GC right away in case the value somehow disappears, but alas, can't be added to my amazon wallet.

    • finally paid for all 4 claims yesterday

  • 1/5: Claim submitted (positive feedback)
12/5: Raised an inquiry on their website
    14/5: Got the gift card

  • +1

14/5 - Submitted x2 claims with negative feedback
15/5 - Validated and received gift cards less than 24 hours later

    • Wow amazing, Thts very quick.

  • Finally got firat submission approved two days ago. Still trying to figure what to do with the giftcard.
Whats the easiest way to deal with TCN?
Do i have to spend exact amount at retailers?

    • +2

Bit of a convoluted process, but I added mine to my Google Wallet, where they should function as normal gift cards - you won't need to spend the balance all at once.

I had to download the TCN app to bring them across, though you could probably just manually add them.

      • but what happens if you want to buy something for over the card limit, wouldn't it get rejected or would it take that amount and you can pay the rest with different card?

        • +1

That's correct. You've never used a gift card before? You can split pay at most places

          • @ironworthy: I did couple times but really annoying. I hoped it will take balance down as sometimes it did work like that.
I also don't think you can split at Amazon, or some other online retailer!

  • +1

4/5 - submitted 2 claims for butter and cheese with 15 negative words each
15/5 - both gift cards arrived at around the same time

  • Received my 2nd gift card today.

Submitted claim on 04/05/25. Wrote negative comments in claim. Didn't contact mainland and eventually received both gift cards.

  • New nuisance: "Something went wrong. Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact support.". Unable to submit a claim for a family member.

    • +1

And after that "Entry limit reached. You have reached the entry limit for this promotion. Thanks for entering!" What a bunch of time wasters.

  • I used this TCN card to pay PAYG and it worked.

  • +2

We have reviewed your claim and were unable to successfully validate your entry.

This is because your entry does not comply with the promotional Terms & Conditions. Our Mainland “Love us or your money back” campaign is all about making sure customers love their experience with our products—or getting their money back if they don’t. If you wish to resubmit, please reply to this email ensuring all required information is clear, legible and meets the eligibility criteria.

    Thank you,

    The Mainland™ Team

    • when did you submit?

      • 7th May

        • why did you write something positive when the t&c's wording had already changed by then

          • @ironworthy: I did write positive same on my first claim. Did not know they changed T@C

            • +4

@Sidor: Can you resubmit and now say you are unhappy with their marketing team?

  • I should have come back to the comment before purchasing on 10 May.
Two claims, submitted on May 11st - no communications of any kind.

  • +1

Got the refund but they sure make you work for it… Had to install the TCN app and include personal info etc. to apply it to my wallet.

    • yep. hated that. but you can avoid entering the personal info by just using the card details to pay online bills

  • +6

Two claims, Submitted 6th May - No response so far !

    Send email again yesterday !

    This is just horrible promotion.

    • +2

Horrible cheese and butter. We still haven't finished it. Luckily because I didn't love it we got our money back and have already spent it on other groceries.

  • Finally got my claim. Parents held off until I got mine before I did it. Seems to still be valid?

  • +1

Overnight had two validated claims after being rejected twice each. Once for under 15 words and once for receipt not good enough quality. I even (accidentally) used EDR 10% off on the receipt and they still gave me the full amount. Bit of a mess of a promotion but at least they followed through.

  • Got the approved email to get the refund by activate the TCN card. Clicked on 'Digital Prepaid Mastercard' then input my detail with mobile number then gift card swap is successful, nothing happens??? it suppose to send an sms to your number or email but that did not happened at all.

    What now?

  • Ignoring my two claims and ignoring my message via their website.
I have had no communication of any kind from these people - talk about a waste of time!
    Submitted May 1st

    (not your fault OP)

    • +1

      Try and call them 1800 816 773.

      • Thanks - I will try it

        • +1

Sucks that they're ignoring you, especially since you submitted before they changed their terms and conditions

          • +3

@nicholasv: Yes, its ban level lol. Have never dealt with them before.
Weird promo. I think its annoyed more people than its impressed
