I bought one, now to figure out what people use these for

    • +13

      Chopping board?

    • +5

For me it would be so the kids can play switch with their friends when we're away

      • +5

Yeah the one I have works with my Switch without any dock, which I found very surprising! Just power the screen with one USB-C cable and then USB-C to USB-C from the Switch to the second USB-C port on the screen and you're good to go.

        • oh really the screen basically passing through power to the switch? what power source (watt) do you use to power the screen? 100w ?

          • @McMaferMur: These take very little power, can run it off a powerbank

            • @railspider: But it needs to power the switch as well…

              • @McMaferMur: Power the switch from a powerbank or wall socket and the monitor can leech off that.

End of the day these monitors take very little power!

        • can you clarify what charger you are using for the USB C?

My screen is just flickering on and off

          • +1

@shap08: If your screen is flickering on and off it could be a bad cable. You don't have another cable to try by chance?

            • @pencilman: Is the cable provided C to C is a special one for video output? Or will any usb c work?

              • +2

@shap08: Yes it is one that can pump data….not just power.

                • +1

@boxall: got it working, tried another cable. Thanks guys!

    • +1

I use mine while I'm travelling for work as a second screen, it works very well with just USB C. For a long trip, I can also take my Xbox and use it.

    • +1

Use it between work and home so I get three screens. Super duper handy.

      • Yep, I do the same. Significant three screen setup even when you're on the move, which still fits into the laptop compartment in my bag.

      • Where do you work between work and home with multi screen? Uber? Bus?

        • I work in my car sometimes while charging. :P

        • +1

I take it to work and use it there. I bring it home and use it there….

          • +3

@boxall: Thanks. I wasnt being a smart a**, I genuinely see people working on transit and I am amazed, so was wondering if someone uses a portable screen as well. That would be a commitment to work unlike any.

  • Thanks op

  • +2

    Thanks OP!
Have a very similar one already, with HDMI input, AND speakers it's great for using with my Spectrum Next / TheC64 and other retro console thingies.
also use it when i'm travelling with work, perfect size to match my laptop screen and works just off USB also!

Bought this one to see how it goes

  • -1

Which ozb recommended smartphones can hook into this?

    • +3

Samsung S24 and S25 with should be able to use this. Just plug and play using built in Samsung Dex.

  • Is the included cover sturdy enough for overseas travel?

Given the large screen size I'm always afraid damaging the screen when taking it in the go…

    • I usually pack mine in my carry on with my laptop, behind the laptop to protect it. If I'm checking it in, I'll put it in the middle of my bag between clothes, as I'm worried about the same thing.

  • +1

Tempting but no VESA or 1/4 Screw Mounts :(

    • +1

      3d print up some brackets

      • +5

Fair point.. Should crack out my A1 mini after it's been sitting in storage for a few months

    • Good double sided tape will hold one of these. Very light.

      • Yeah but trying to take them off will probably result in cracking the screen due to the screen being thin and light.

        • I have used the 3M command picture hanging strips without problems. I tried to put the link in and it got unpublished. I have successfully attached portable monitors and SSD using it.

      • Velcro.. 👍👍

    • I just purchased a tablet holder for this. Make sure you find one that is large enough to hold this.

  • +3

Man i want one but like we are saying, what for lol

    • +1

To use as a screen for a variety of devices

  • +1

Does this work with MacBook Pro?

    • +4

does macBook Pro have USB C and / or HDMI outputs?

  • +4

Touch screen will be much better

  • 15.6 is on the edge of being a decent permanent monitor for kids PC. Tempted.
Know of anything decent slightly bigger under $100 ?

  • I'm tempted but 1080p max resolution seems a bit low. Wouldn't that make everything displayed in the screen huge?
Thinking for work, not interested in gaming

    • +1

Fwiw, 15.6" 1080p is roughly the same ppi as my 32" 4K and my 40" 5K2K ultrawide. (It's slightly smaller than a quarter of a 32" 4K). Pretty common ppi for desktop usage.

But depends how you will use it, and how close you will be. It will be a lot lower ppi than most laptop screens, yes (usually you sit closer to a laptop).

If predominantly using as a second monitor to a laptop, you may prefer a higher ppi screen.

      • Thanks, yeah I'm after one to use as 2nd screen to laptop for work only. I think I'll keep looking for something with 2k or more

  • Tks OP, got one, this will be great for my kids with their Switch, or as second monitor with their laptop.

I have a Zenscreen myself and I usually bring it into meetings with my laptop for situation when I have to share my desktop, in that case I still have my second screen for my cheat sheet and type my notes, the only shortfall are these screens drain the batteries of your laptop/switch, unless you connects them with AC or powerbank.

  • +6

hooked to a Pi, and I use it as a photo display…

    • +1

Ooh that's a good idea. I've been wanting something like a Google Home but with a bigger screen, maybe I should go Home Assistance voice + that.

    • How do you power the screen and pi together?

  • Travelling in a few months and looking on this at Aliexpress the past few weeks. Bought one. Thanks!

  • Thank you very much!

I was actually looking for one yesterday and wish was granted

  • I’d be a bit wary of this, doesn’t seem to mention brightness on specs. Also I have found the colour rendition to be poor on other external screens like this. Would be great to get feedback from an owner of this exact model

    • 300 nits

    • You're bang-on, with 80% sRGB coverage the colours are going to be poor. It's the norm for these kinds of ultra cheap portable monitors that cost less than $100.

  • Could any recommend one that has 120hz and above? QHD is a plus

    • +2

      for $72 ?

On the same link there is a version for $144 with what you want.

      • noice thanks, pity the $30 coupon doesn't apply for that listing.

  • +2

I'll add this to my wall of monitors thank you.

  • +3

Just bought one and will figure it out why I need it.

    • +1

Same, just bought one. Now looking for a good use-case scenario for me.

  • +1

Great deal, if only this is a 19:10 screen, better for productivity.

  • Bought it not sure why.

  • +1

Looks like the voucher is no longer active

    • I just used it fine about 30s ago

  • +1

Just bought. First time I’ve chomped. Excited to see the uses I can try out for it ^^

  • Got 1, thanks OP!

  • Got the firebat one. Brightness settings don't save.

  • I've purchased some of the other cheaper ones with 16:10 or 15:10 ratio which stretch the image for non-native resolutions (i.e. 1080p). Makes console gaming unusable.

  • $34 coupon not available anymore

  • How is this with Samsung Dex?

  • Can't see a voucher to redeem anymore

  • I can only see Prime Savings Save $5 coupon not the $34 coupon?

  • Where is the coupon? Couldn't see that

  • Hi everyone, sorry for the noob question, new here. What is the coupon code? I'm not able to find it. Thanks ya :)!

    • think its over, no more coupon, usually appears under the product title as a checkbox

      • I see, thanks so much for the quick reply! Really appreciate it!

    • it was a checkbox for $34 off or something

  • Does this monitor weight 1.88kg?

    • Highly doubt it

  • Blinked and missed!

  • Would these work on a mini pc.

Though i am looking at this one -

    https://www.amazon.com.au/sspa/click?ie=UTF8&spc=MTo2MTY0NDc…

    • +1

YES - your link says "This portable monitor for laptop supports USB-C and HDMI ports"

so if your mini PC has those, it'll work

  • Thanks op bought 1, does anyone know a good power bank to go with this? I want to use this with the kids nintendo switch

  • ah missed again, promo code not exist.

  • -1

I bought one and took it to travel for a month away, realised the USB C cable I had won't work lol came back and returned it unused

    • Plenty of places to buy a USB-C cable 😊

      • I know but by that time I told work I cannot do remote work due to huge time difference lol

  • +1

How's this compare to the Firebat FB15? Or are they more or less the same

    • -3

They're all garbage from the same factory, it's a very low quality screen. Sometimes it won't connect at all, like in my case, the specific USB cable and power bank was the issue

  • Thanks OP bought 1 to replace my portable 14" QHD. Don't really need it but for $72, can't hold back. I don't need QHD and 14" too small for me.

  • Thanks op. At this price I ordered one. I already have one which hasn’t gotten much use but I’m hoping to be using it more. This second one will be for travel. I connected my Alldocube pro 60 mini and works extremely well with my old portable screen.

  • +1

Received mine, plugged into my MBA M1 and looks good. Last portable monitor I bought was DOA. I think it will come in handy for travel and working outside.

    • Got mine too. Pleasantly surprised….better than I expected! Only crap thing is my MacBook only supports one external monitor.

  • Why can’t my phone connect to the monitor? I followed all the instructions correctly

    • +2

Does your phone support video out via USB-C?

      • Iphone 14 pro

        • So a Lightning to HDMI cable is plugged in and you're powering the monitor too?

    • Connected to my iPhone 16 with no issues.

  • Guys why can’t I connect my iphone, android phone or ipad to this monitor? I have the cables connected including the power source. So frustrating. So far it only works when I connect it to my MacBook and PS5. What am I doing wrong?

    • depends on if those iphone, android phone or ipad devices support the USB C monitor output that this montior requires
      most tablets / devices don't.
to connect to those, you'd need to use HDMI (iphones and androids have dongles that can work)
