50% off nbn Plans for 6mths When Bundled with Energy Supply (+ Free 12mth Paramount+ Standard) @ Origin via Phone (Excl. NT)

1140

Just moved my gas over to Origin and gave them a buzz to see if they had any broadband deals going. Turns out they’re currently offering 50% off all NBN plans for 6 months, plus 12 months of Paramount+ included.

It’s a phone-only deal, and you need to have an eligible energy plan (either gas or electricity) with them.

Applies to both new and existing customers. No lock-in contracts either. Here are the current plan prices:
• 25/10 – $41.50 for 6 months, then $83
• 50/20 – $47.50 for 6 months, then $95
• 100/20 – $52.50 for 6 months, then $105
• 100/40 – $55.00 for 6 months, then $110
• 250/25 – $60.00 for 6 months, then $120
• 1000/50 – $65.00 for 6 months, then $130

Static IP is $5/month if needed – otherwise, you’re behind CGNAT.

What is CGNAT?

CGNAT, or Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation, is a technology used by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to manage the limited number of IPv4 addresses available. It allows multiple customers to share a single public IP address by translating their private IP addresses into that public one, enabling them to connect to the internet.

Origin uses Superloop’s infrastructure, so performance should be solid. https://www.superloop.com/blog/superloop-wins-landmark-broad…

Not sure how long the deal will run, so if anyone hears it’s ended, please drop a comment!

    • Called again and got through to someone who provided the offer. So worth trying again later if refused.

  • +1

i signed up today over the phone for an electricity connection and was offered really good rates plus $200 sign up credit as cherry on the top.
I signed up to half price NBN as well without any issues. includes one year paramount plus and 25000 ecerrydays rewards points.

    • +1

      Nice move

Howd u get tge 25k reward point another user said the points was only for online, so excluded for the 50% off nbn?

    • You're lucky! I don't get the 25,000 everydays rewards points :(

    • What do you call good electricity rates? I looked at their rates and they are high.

    • @ssba225: Hi mate, how did you get 25000 points because I was told that we could either get points or half price.

  • +1

it was on the phone offer. So half price NBN with 25000 bonus points. It was clearly read out by the origin person while signing me up.

    • Does the everyday rewards points for the everyday card have to be in the same name of the origin electricity customer. Or can a relatives everyday rewards card can be used?

    • thank you

  • Sorry, no clue about that. I was only asked for rewards card number but not the name if it helps anyway.

    • Thanks,

  • +1

i found the answer for you. see below:

Different name on your Everyday Rewards card

The great news about this energy plan is that you can provide the Everyday Rewards account details of any household member to sign up. The names do not need to match your Origin account number.

    • Thanks so much man

  • +1

So sounds as though this is no longer available?

    • +1

It's still available. If you get somone who rejects, call again and you may get someone else who'll give you the offer - this worked for me

      • Person I spoke to was more than happy to give the discount to me, but unfortunately my electricity plan is a non-standard one. I'm getting additional discounts so aren't eligible for the 50% off.Didn't bother pushing, I'd rather keep my current plan and look elsewhere for a deal. They were only really able to offer something that matched current provider.

        • If I want to get the 1000/50 plan at 50% off, then should I choose not to sign up to a gas account with the $50 credit each for referrer and referee?

          • @sgltech: Not sure. Maybe call and ask?
My plan is additional % off standard rates and additional fit. You would be on one of their standard plans and just get a $50 credit by the sounds so could be okay.

  • Anyone know if I need to keep both my electricity and gas active whilst I have the 50% discount? I’ve currently got the deal with both with origin. Thinking of moving electricity to a different provider and keeping gas with Origin.

  • +1

I got the 50% off NBN offer with electricity account only. My gas is with a different provider.

  • Signed up on the phone and also got my electricity changed over.

Unfortunately, couldn't get the 25,000 woolworths points like other people - she said that deal would only get a $15/mth discount on NBN.

For internet, managed to get a decent discount on fees. Was previously with Tango fees were:
Supply charge: 78.1c/d -> increasing to 104.5 c/d next week
    Peak: 34.98 c/kWh -> increasing to 36.52 c/kWh next week

Origin offered me 70.4c/d + 26.8 c/kWh which is much better than all providers I looked at. Online, their price is 88.02 c/d + 33.52 c/kWh.

  • I tried getting this deal today. Apparently it expired on 30 April 2025. The current deal is for $30 off for 6 months which is superior to what I’m paying now so I still went with it. (And 12 months free Paramount Plus is still included).

  • it's seems hit an miss, many people still getting this deal so i think its a training issue, just hang up and ring again.

  • Just rang up and had no issue getting the 50% off with the Paramount+

    • Were you able to get the 25000 everyday rewards too?

      • No, but I didn't really push for it either, was happy with the half price and Paramount+

  • Called up and they said this offer is until end of June

  • +2

Thanks OP for the deal, cancelled Exetel (thanks to the guys in this thread that said to ask them nicely to cancel the 30 day waiver - they did).

Signed up to NBN100 for $52.50 pm for 6mths.
Didn't bother getting "$0" eero6+ as I already have a WiFi 6 modem (plus you gotta stay with them for 24mths else $6 charge/pm for remainder of contract period if you cancel).

I asked them, if, after 6mths I decide to downgrade to lesser speed plan (i.e. NBN50) would there be any additional charge/penalty? Answer: NO.

  • Anyone know what happens if you leave origin Energy within that 6 months? Can you stay with origin NBN at same price for 6 months?

    • no you go to full price

  • Just confirming this is still available as of today for anyone interested. I was moving across from Superloop and my speeds are unchanged.

Wasn't able to stack with the everyday rewards bonus (was told I'd need to apply through a web portal for that)

    • Did you get that silly 30 day notice period thing waived?

  • Anyone know if that paramount plus subscription can be sold seperately? I don't really need it since I have netflix so just wondering

    • +1

yes its just a promo code that gives you 12 months

      • Ahh ok, so do you get the basic one or essential with origin? Just trying to gauge how much it's worth

        • +1

          standard

  • +1

Just signed up today with no issue, deal seems to be still valid.

  • +1

I called today and was initially offered something else and told that that this offer had finished, however they checked and then this was reluctantly accepted.

  • I haven't received any code or anything for the Paramount Subscription? Do they send you the code immediately, or did take a couple of days for everyone else?

    • not immediately about a week

      • Thanks! It just showed up in my inbox this morning.

  • Did you guys sign up for the Eero 6+?

If we cancel after consuming the 6 months half price, this means we are required to pay $108 (18 x $6) which is still a pretty good price.

Was thinking of getting BE6500 for $349 for the sake of longevity but not sure if it's worth it.

    • good thinking, but im a Unifi man

  • Just changed to this, 250mbps down. Also switched my electricity since they have better rates than RED at present.

  • Got the 6 months half price internet and the Paramount, but they wouldn't go for the 25k rewards points, said it was one or the other.

They offered a modem too but I didn't know about it to make a decision on the spot so decided against it. Sounded like a decent deal though.

    • They offered a modem too but I didn't know about it to make a decision on the spot so decided against it. Sounded like a decent deal though.

assume it was the Eero 6+ that they offering? I was looking at it and seems it's pretty good bargain even if you run the plan for only 6 months, the outstanding amount to be paid only $108.

      • Yes, it was. For most people it would be a good deal. But for me, being a degenerate ozbargainer, I've got a mesh wifi setup for maximum range because I share my internet connection with the next door neighbour and split the bill, so it needs to reach across two properties. Getting the new router would have meant spending more money on dots to extend the range.

  • does anyone know can i still get it if i just cut the origin NBN 2 months ago?

  • +1

yeap still work as of this morning. no debate, no argument, no convincing needed; the rep just honored it straight away.

  • +1

Just singed up this morning, still working.

  • +1

Signed up for it this morning. Still working! Thanks OP!

Originally they said it's not on anymore then gave me a mediocre offer. I said I'll ring back then the guy said he'd chat to his manager. Ended up giving it to me within a minute of 'talking' to his manager.

    • +1

no prob, they just not trained enough :P

    • me too!

  • +1

Has anyone tried activating the Paramount+ after 2 months? I want to postpone our commencement.

    • You’ll lose the code. It will expire.

  • +2

    Thanks OP!
Just did this today (30/05) over the phone - transfer of gas/internet in one - offer only available via phone.
You have to mention the offer and they tell you that their '"supervisor"" approved it etc etc
I ordered the 1000/50 for $65 pm, got the 24K Everday Rewards included and the 12 months of Paramount plus.
Their gas plan was also significantly cheaper than AGL (I'm in WA).

    • nice you got the points i was told can't get that lol oh well

  • I see there's a $50 credit each for referrer and referee.
Is it possible to stack this deal with a referal from a friend?
If so, should the referal be done with an online signup to gas (or electricity) before phoning for the NBN offer?

    • +2

the cashback deal is better i got $100 for just a gas signup then ring them up to add this deal. But referral not worth it while the cashback deal is running

  • Called today and asked about current NBN offers. Initially they offered $15 off p/m on any speed, so then I mentioned this offer and was told that this deal was only for 'people who mention it'. Sounded a bit reluctant to do it/bored but put it through. Didn't want to push it by asking about the everyday rewards points.

Also recently got emailed an offer from Origin for $15 off, plus another $10 off per month off if bundle with another service (eg gas) plus the 25k everyday rewards ($125 worth), which isn't actually terrible and not bad alternative once this deal expires (can also do it online).

  • Got connected to Origin today, and I'm clearly behind CGNAT. Called phone support to ask about dynamic IP twice this morning, they said I already had it, offered to sell me static IP.
Gonna try email support and hope that's more helpful…

  • Just called today and got the deal. Needed team leader approval since expired in March. Had to call again to get a different consultant as the first one said no.

  • What's with the connection fee, I've never been charged fornit but now origin said there is a connection fee of up to $61 each for electricity and gas

    • no idea i have not been charged so might be your individual circumstance

  • Just called to try and get it and they said it expired in march, they said they would apply something to it if i got a new modem (trying to get me to stay with them for 24 months)
Best he offered me was $15 off per month for each of the different tiers. Don't think this is obtainable anymore

    • +1
      • Update: called back and got a different rep - he just straight up applied the deal and didn't argue . setting up a new 250 plan
      • If we sign up for this 50% nbn deal then change energy retailers do we still get the discount for remaining months?

  • Just FYI Origin's connection process is not smooth. I booked a connection date in June when I signed up in May. Origin contacts NBN on my set connection date to ask for their next available date to send out a technician. So I am without internet for a week. So make sure you have at least a 1 week overlap with your older provider. Did anyone else have this problem? I complained and got my first month free but I would rather just have a smooth transition.

    • What technology are you on. FTTP is instant.

      • I think I have FTTC. But the point is, if that makes a difference, they should have asked when I signed up and they should have contacted NBN sooner, not on the date that the connection was meant to happen. I even asked multiple times at sign up if anything else was needed to make the switch. I guess sales people know as much about the technology as I do.

  • I signed up nbn offer with 12 months Free Paramount+. Got the code after numerous queries with Origin. Signed up with Paramount on laptop n all well. Then tried to sign in on iPhone Paramount App, it said credentials issue. I used to hav Paramount on my Iphone in 2023 then cancelled. For this deal I used a different email. Now can’t set up on my iphone. Anyone face this issue begore and how do you resolve it? Cheers

  • FYI I was able to get this offer, and combine it with the Everyday rewards deal for electricity and gas by calling up.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/910229

I got 100/20 internet at $52.50/mth for six months. This is a better deal than the $15 off mth + $125 Everyday Rewards points as that works out to $69.17/mth.

    Started plans from 21/06.

EDIT: I also believe my internet will be upgraded at this price point to 500/50 with the NBN speed increases.
