How did you do a price beat when jbtools are in the USA .?

    • I don’t know, they honoured my price beat request and I got it by click and collect. May be the site says au.jbtools.com that is why.

      • Was it in store or online price beat ?.

  • Bought this for $24, thought I got a good deal back then
    Still unused though

    • +3

Good deal but unused …. hmmmm

  • +2

Is the product working though ?

    • +2

I've used this a couple of times. Lasts about 2 years before you've got to do it again.

      • +2

You need to spray your headlights with clear for it to last.

        • +1

With 2k clear coat and will last a very long time. But that stuff is really bad without proper PPE. A headlight ceramic coating which offers 2 years protection is a better option for most people.

  • I've tried bar keepers friend to no luck. Anyone actually had good results with this?

    • +1

It takes a bit of effort but works well. However, as per the other comment, it doesn't last long and you will be doing it again in 1 -2 years

      • +1

Is it any good for shining up the plastic on the outside that's been in contact with car polish?

  • thanks OP grabbed one

  • +1

    $100 shipping. WTF!

    • +12

You must have ordered the one with the turtle and the wax separate.

  • +1

Never used this but their other product Turtle Wax Headlight Cleaner & Sealant works and only requires cleaning 2 or 3 times to make them look new. Used on a 20 y/o car so before and after looked like the pictures on the bottle.

    • I second this. 20 year old car, need to give it bit of a "wax on, wax off" rub before pink slip inspection and it works every time for the last 3 years.

This kit is junk. You are better off going to Bunnings and buying 400,800,1200,2000,3000 grits individual wet and dry sheets.

Use soapy water and progressively move from 400—->3000 and going perpendicular to the previous sheet.

Polish the headlights (any decent car polish) after the 3000 grit, a spritz of metho and then apply a cheap ceramic coat (eg mrFix from eBay).

This will last years in comparison to the junk kit above.

I haven't used this one, but have used a few others. Works wonders for a couple of months then reverts back with the sun. Yes I followed instructions and put the finishing step on. I noticed in shows like Wheeler dealers they never do it and source new lights.

You make it sound like everyone has a garage. Many inner city suburbs only have street parking.

      • -1

        🤣🤣

      • +3

        BRB buying a garage

    • You don't drive during the day?

      • +5

Yes, but only when the UV index is below 3 of course.

      • 30-45 minutes or so of sunlight exposure per day is unlikely to cause headlights to become cloudy.

    • +4

"Ooh, a garage? Well la-di-da Mr Frenchman."

      • What do you call it Moe?

    • +2

Any deals on garages at this price point?

  • -3

toothpaste and toothbrush. rub it and brush it that's it.

    • +2

The effects of that are very temporary (mind you so is using this product).

  • Just use a Potato.🤣

    • +2

You're saying I can use my dash cam?

  • 20 years ago I just used to use metal polish and buff it on off would bring the headlights back to new. Havent tried it since but I would assume it still works.

Im sure toothpaste used to work also.

    • Silvo?

  • +2

    Do they fix saggy headlights?

    • Perks them right up.

  • +2

This is crap didnt work for me

    • The deal or the product?

      • Why not both? (Cue Mexican music)

  • good product - works well

  • Ugh was just there today & needed something like this but didn’t think about it till afterwards :/

    Wonder if it’s just online

As an alternative to actual headlight cleaners, I've used Woolies tropical strength insect repellent, which is around $3.10 at the moment. I just spray it directly on to the headlight, leave it for 30 seconds, then wipe it off with a paper towel. The paper towel picks up all of the yellow, leaving the headlight really clear. And it lasts about a half a year each time. I've never had a problem with it, but of course results could vary from car to car. So I'd suggest just trying it on a tiny area first if you are going to give it a go.

    • +1

Will give this a try. Have plenty of repellant sitting around.

    • +1

Yeah a work mate told me this and I thought bull. Anyway do it to my son's car with one yellow headlight and doing it the way you suggest it actually worked!! Been two months with a clear lens so I'll see how long but as it is so easy doing it every few months is no issue and you're sanding away the plastic layers each time. Unbelievable but it works!

      • Remember to wax the headlight as coating after cleaning

        • +1

          Which wax?
Would be great if I'd use what's already in the house 🙃

    • +1

This is genius, worked instantly. Thank you

    • +2

What ingredient in the insect repellent is doing this?

      • Surely it’s the DEET

    • Can you send the link of the repellant you use?

  • Any tips for how to get rid of swirl marks on a windscreen?
