    • Totally different tools. I added vertical extensions to my Colourbond fence that needed the steel braces trimmed. This plus a Diablo blade went straight through it like a knife through warm butter.

Admittedly I've used it most for trimming branches though lol. But a very useful tool to have on hand.

    • Same - I bought the pruning saw a few weeks ago to cut branches. What would the reciprocating saw do that's different apart from power of being brushless?

Anyone have thoughts on the disc sets from Aldi and using them with the Ozito angle grinder? Any particular recommendation for a set for general purpose use?

    • +8

A lot of people don't know this (or disregard it completely) but discs have a general use by date of 3 years or so because the glues holding it together deteriorate and can cause failure when using it. If you only use the grinder occasionally it's a lot better to walk into Bunnings and just buy an individual Makita disc or something as you need it for a couple of dollars than to leave some cheap ALDI ones lying around for a few years before using them

Hoping the mini chainsaw is matched Aldi's are $49.00 skin only.
    Please Please

I was about to purchase it, but as an ozbargainer, I have a gut feeling that I need to check my garage. Unsurprisingly , seeing another one sealed sitting on the shelf.

  • Damn, I just bought the brushed one last week for $69. Is there much difference?

    • +2

yes. I have both- brushless is way more powerful (but also bigger and heavier)

    • +2

not really if you are doing diy stuff. if you are using it for work for bigger jobs and longer use, i would pay extra and buy makita.

  • GEt some new blades though. I snapped mine pretty quickly cutting and underground tree root…. I didn't even bother digging. Just used the saw to get underground started grnding.

The Ozito reciprocating saw is very good - paired with quality blades it was very handy in cleaning up our acreage after the tropical cyclone a few months back. Is odd to use at first but once you have the hang of it, very handy compliment to a small chainsaw & a LOT safer for domestic users.

i took out a giant birds of paradise plant with it. One of my favourite tools. slices plants like butter with good blades. the ozito blade was terrible. thank god was able to replace it with any other ones

  • +2

    Finally I can use this

  • How does this compare with the ryobi, after including battery and charger costs?

    https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/reciprocating-saws/18v-one…

  • This tool would be okay but I use a recip saw a lot, especially in the garden, and the Milwaukee one-handed Hackzall-style saw is the best to use IMO.

  • Curse you, OP!

I've gone from zero to six Ozito devices in a month or so…

One of us! One of us!

      • @skid I suppose you are one of those idiots (like me!) with a zillion eneloops as well?

        • Yep, in a drawer.

          • +1

@skid: @ skid I sure there will soon be a new medical term for OzBargainers who have the Ozito + Eneloops + Torches + Victorinox Wavy Edge Knifes + [fill in the blank/s] syndrome.

  • Seems like they've changed these to in-store only?

Can't add either item to cart, have tried numerous postcodes.

    • yes seeing that now

    • +1

Same. That's why I didn't bother to continue my onepass subscription even at discount

    • I changed the store and then delivery worked. Maybe the store selected has low stock so won’t allow delivery?

      • What store did you change it to please? Ill give it a try

    • Just purchased online in Perth for delivery.
Want the 2.5A battery too but can't seem to get that online, will have to go in and get one

  • Just bought on in store in WA. They cheekily put the sale price on the brushed and there were only two brushless ones left, placed higher up on the shelf almost out of sight.

  • I bought one at the time. Have used it quite a bit. It's been great. I have more than a few Ozito items in my workshop and except for one item which was replaced have had no problems at all. My trusty Ozito lawnmower has worked its socks off over the past 4+ years and is still going though the wheels are starting to get wobbly.

    • +1

Don’t forget the Ozito 5-year warranty.

  • Picked up the last of this and the multitool at Chatswood. No sale sign attached, but easy to spot since the Ozito shelves were all full except for these two items lol

  • Missed out last time. didnt make the same mistake this time. @ $50 its a no brainer. pick one up today

Just got one from my local, none left on the shelf, then saw one at the counter marked down to $40 because it was missing the stock blade. Already had a few compatible blades at home. Great bargain, especially combined with a couple of $20 2.5Ah battery and charger combo packs they had on the shelf.

  • Literally out of stock across Vic… Keeping fingers crossed for a restock but not holding up too much hope!

  • +1

I changed to a store that still got the item in stock, even though it is far far away, in my case I found one at Narre Warren (VIC). Then choose free delivery with Onepass and it went through, 10 minutes later got confirmation notice from Auspost. If Narre Warren doesn't work for you, try another one, I can see down Geelong still got stock.

    • Wouldn't let me organise Onepass delivery from either Narre Warren or Geelong North… Says my delivery postcode (3058) is too far away :(

    • Just tried again for ordering Onepass delivery from Geelong North, and this time it accepted the order, strangely - fingers crossed!

Edit - nope, Also cancelled and refunded. I'll stick with my brushed one!

  • I don't need any of these yet i feel bad if i don't buy such a good bargain, this is what ozbargain had done to me…

  • OOS at many stores in melb now :(

  • Got one thanks OP. Now to wait for the chainsaw to be reduced

  • Mine arrived today. I thought it was a second / spare for the one I had. Turns out my old one was a brushed model.
This new brushless model can rotate 90 on the handle. That’s going to make it so much easier to use!

    • Looking at the photos i cant see a thing that rotates on the handle. Can you please explain what rotates?

  • Can you get blades to cut steel and do they work without breaking lots of blades.
Also is it an economical way of cutting steel as cutting discs can be an expensive way.

  • Local store at Nowra had none of either, so guess who was on the doorstep of Ulladulla’s warehouse when they opened this morning. 🙋

  • Thanks OP. Fantastic price!

Reporting back ,took down most of a mature guava tree back to the main trunk with stock blade today and 2 x 4ah battery - wanted to see how far I could push the blade and it’s done extremely well. $50 well spent lol. Stock blade still got a bit of life in it I reckon

    • +1

      I second this!

Can't believe the timing, I bought this in the FOMO, and then as it happened I needed to do some work to my IP as the tenant issue a notice to vacate. A tree in the backyard was growing over the roof and need some lopping. Used this tool and was able to get all the branches cut off and clear from the roof. Knife through butter this tool was with the OG saw blade, too easy. Such a great $50 buy. Life saver 🙏🙏🙏

  • +1

OOS in entirety of WA (except Albany) :(

  • it seems both of them are out of stock and cannot be ordered online.

    • It will be back in stock as soon as promotion ends.

      • Yer I was thinking the same thing. I'm hating Bunnings more everyday.
