    • Will the Trump tax affect prices?

      • probably - wouldn't surprise me if they spread it all out across the globe (if it happens).

      • Absolutely, experts are already saying the Apple will wait until Trumps out as it will take longer to build in America, so they will just pass on the tariffs to other nations, get ready

  • Thanks.. I'll do that.. i did tell them i have another number to Port in.. from amaysim.. and the guy said that shouldn't be a problem

  • I have signed up and paid for the first month. Can I use it for the 30 days then cancel for the 800?

    • It's pro-rata termination fee (for customers not having another active postpaid account) so it's $766.59 regardless of whether you used it 1 day or 30 days. Do find out your next billing cycle date just in case Telstra changes it.

Anyone able to get their $99 refunded

  • The store rep mentioned something big coming up tomorrow as well.

    • Did they give you any hints 👀

Price dropped by $210, people can go to JB tomorrow for price difference refund

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/apple-iphone-16-pro-max-2…

    • Wow! Loool. I bought at $1947 via price match. So wondering if it’s worth the $10 each to go back and refund it.

      • each

How many did you buy? Since you bought more than 1, probably worthwhile to bring the receipts and get the difference refunded.

        • Got three. Two 256gb for $1947 & a 512gb for $2232. Most id get back is $10 each on those two 256gb. I might go back but feel little stingy to get $10 back on each haha. I also managed to get the $99 charges refunded as well. One hell of a deal.

          • @Bonesaw321: You're going back in store for a poultry $10 price match? Wow

            • +1

@Duece1995: Hahaha probably not I will feel bad. I’m just happy at the $99 getting refunded.

              • @Bonesaw321: Any tips on getting that $99 refunded? 3 x $99, you saved ~$300. That's fantastic.

                • +1

@netsurfer: Basically it comes down to Pure luck lol. It was 2x $99 i got charged the third i didnt. I first tried telstra live chat but they kept denying so i went to jbhifi mobile app live chat kept stressing i never even used the sim or plugged it in and how cost of living would make it hard for me to make the monthly repayments. He then said yes as its still in pending so cancel and once pending status gets confirmed refund will be issued in 5-7 days.

    • All lowest storage models are getting discounted, but JB Hi-Fi still not matching OfficeWorks prices on some of those models. Still worthwhile since $210+ off sweeten the deal even more.

There are discounted deals for other models from other retailers, hopefully JB Hi-Fi will price match soon.

    • +1

yup definetly will do that got 3 :P

    • Does this work ? What do you have to do get the difference refunded

      • just go in store and ask, seems to be straightforward

    • Can confirm this - I went in today and JB price matched the 'red hot deal' price so I was able to get $210 refunded for the iPhone 16 PM 256gb ($1947). They did not let me price match yesterday unfortunately.

  • +1

    Damn… 256GB iPhone 16 Pro Max for $1937
Works out to be $1,402.59 after cancellation.

    • yeah its a damn fine deal, even less if your lucky to get the 99 refunded

    • I think they dropped the price after COB today, so it can be effective tomorrow, when the $1400 off promotion already ends?

  • They just dropped the phone prices! Got 3 2 days ago, do they still do pay the diff if they dropped prices? if so another couple hundo in the bank!

    • they have a price guarantee policy so they should, best to call the store you bought from and ask the manager

      • Will just try it there and any other store till they give it :)

        • They will refund the difference (no issue within 14 days). It does require store manager's approval (he / she needs to type in a code or something).

          • @netsurfer: Is it any store or just the one you purchase from? The one I got was abit far off.

            • @ffagz: any store, just ask the manager. should be pretty easy.

          • @netsurfer: What JB?

              • @ffagz: Try live chat tomorrow morning:
                https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360057328914…

It should be any store (since JB stores aren't franchised and JB being a public listed company). However, it's better to get an official answer from JB Support Team than a bunch of OZBers. Bring the same credit card you used to purchase the phone(s).

                • @netsurfer: Thanks makes sense.

                  • @ffagz: FYI, I did it on the 13th day and my mate did it on the 14th day.

Thing is, if JB decide to drop the price again within your 14 days period, you'll need to do another refund. With end of financial year sales coming up, that could happen. I hope they drop the price further tomorrow morning before you arrive at the store.

                    • @netsurfer: Good point bit for me the max refund I can get is as per content price as I got a 1400 gc and the device price is just under I don’t think they will pay back more than that? Let’s see though.

                    • @netsurfer: I did the refund - paid 1540 - new price 1387 - got paid 140 (the difference) as the Telco promo paid upto 1400.
It wont matter in my case now as the telco voucher covered the cost of device.

          • @netsurfer: Does it matter that I paid with gift cards?

            • @blighst: I’ve also bought the difference through gc. I assume they just give us GC in return.

            • @blighst: just got the difference refunded - goes back into a new gift card,

            • @blighst: You will get a new gift card with the difference. That's also the case if the phone price now drops well below $1400.

          • @netsurfer: did that now, the guy at the counter did it - no dramas.

            Phone value = 1384 Iphone 16 plus 128G
            GC = 1400
1 Month Service fee = 0 (was in the next cycle)
            Cancelleation fee = 800

Total cost of device out of pocket = 600.

            That is a killer price.

            • @ffagz: Nice one - what do you say in store?

              • @blighst: Just said I bought the phones 2 days ago and that the price dropped and can I get a refund.he said sure and gave the gift cards for the diff.

            • +1

              @ffagz: Um…. not quite

              Phone value = 1384 Iphone 16 plus 128G
GC = -1400 (promotion deal, no need to pay for this voucher)
1 Month Service fee = 0 (was in the next cycle)
              ------------------
Total paid to JB = 0
Cancelleation fee (to pay to Telstra) = 800

              Total cost = $800

$600 or lower only possible for iPhone 16 (non plus) 128GB. The refund amount you received only cancels the amount you paid JB previously.

              • @netsurfer: Yes that’s the out of pocket after i got my refund.

                • @ffagz: Good deal, thanks OP, thanks JB, thanks Tel$tra.

  • just found about this deal and all the stores are closed now. anyone know when this deal would come back (if it does)?

    • It’s been every few weeks lately, not sure if $1400 will come back as it’s usually around $1200

      • They’ve done this cycle last month - 1400 off iPhone then dropped the price a few days later

        • damn, wish I was quick enough for the deal. Just realised that I would’ve been eligible for TRS as well since I’m going overseas in July

          • @Muscat84: at 1200$ off plus $200 reduction - its still not bad if you get a TRS claim back,
Really cheap to buy the Iphone - and these hold value.

            • @ffagz: @ffagz I saw that jb still has a $1200 off deal that ends tonight. what would the process be for me to claim it? do i need to buy the $99 plan, then get the $1200 gift card, then buy the phone?

              • @Muscat84: Just go in store and tell them you want to sign up to the 1200 off any phone deal for the 24 month contract

              • @Muscat84: Yes. Walk-in get the plan, they will give you a gift card to use against the phone of choice.

                • @ffagz: @Duece1995@ffagz makes sense, thanks. and whats the purpose of the $5 aldi sim? is it required for me to port a number in?

                  • @Muscat84: Check the terms. For the 1400GC we had to port a number. $5 aldi sim is the cheapest/quickest throwaway sim you can get to port.
Basically you are using the aldi sim to just get the plan from jbhifi. You just cancel after you get the plan and phone.

  • I ported in with my main number. How do i get out of it not loosing my number?

    • Port the number out and you’ll automatically receive an invoice I believe

      • I don't want to loose my number. Can you tell for sure?

        • If you port out you’ll keep your number with your new carrier… that’s what a port is

  • is this still a decent deal with a $1200 GC?
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/upfront-mobile-plans

    • yes, if you are in the market for an iphone, the discount value is the same as before. If you had taken the offer 2 days ago - you would have gotten an addition 200$ back (depending on phone configuration).

    • I think this is equivalent to the $1400 GC with $200 higher ticketed price.

  • If we wanna return the phone or swap it with an other phone what happens?

    • If it’s iPhone range probably ok cuz it would have been valid

    • If approved, it will be done as a refund and a new purchase. The $1400 gift card and whatever amount you used to pay the difference will be used to purchase the new phone (and if the new phone is cheaper, difference will be refunded).

      • Oh really?? I bought the pixel 9 pro xl and I hate it. So many issues with it. That would be great if I can exchange it with a Samsung ultra. Thanks for the tips. I'll go in store soon

        • You really need to find a staff that's nice since you already used the phone. Do you have any Samsung accessories by any chance? In the past, a guy mentioned the phone he bought doesn't work properly with his Samsung watch and JB gave him a full refund.

JB's official return policy for change of mind requires the original product to be unopened. Mention all the issues you found could help.

          • @netsurfer: Bummer!

Classic issues with pixel phones that I wasn't aware of…

            Delayed or missing notifications

Signal drops and poor network handoff, especially in areas with spotty coverage.

Random app closures or system Ul glitches.

            Software bugs

            • @Yacerola: If you don't like the phone, try get the JB store to let you return it and get a refund. I've seen multiple JB stores selling products which are not properly sealed and have a sticker on it showing change of mind return. So those stores accepted change of mind returns for opened items.
