Energizer CR2032 Coin Battery, Pack of 4 $11.70 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

841

A decent price for authentic CR2032 batteries (Usual RRP $18). Energizer ranks among the best next to Panasonic for the highest capacity CR2032. Having bought off Amazon previously it's a gamble on whether you will get a genuine product, so this is a good price on authentic batteries.

Personally I've found these great for my home sensors and airtags and give me much (almost double, if not more) better battery life than knock offs. Unlike Duracell they don't have the bitterant coating either.

I've just had 5 Maxell CR2032 batteries delivered for $8 from Amazon. I don't know if their capacity is great or not, but I have bought them before and haven't felt let down. Obviously there not going up be better than genuine Energizers

    • +2

Was the seller Amazon AU? I've just checked that listing and it says 'Sold by DREAMFIELD' and is 3rd party sourced. This is pretty common with this battery as it's a common target for counterfeits. So it's origin isn't Amazon.

    • +10

If they're the same as the one's I received they're not good. Car remote lasted about 6 months with one of them. The previous Energiser lasted almost 3 years.

    • +3

They're horrible. I change them out and it feels like a few months and I get an alert on my airtags saying they're low.

      • +1

Yup, my exact thoughts. Maxell last like 3-6 months in my Airtags, and Energiser/Duracell probably is double that.

    • +1

I had a Maxell 5 pack like that in the past. Not good, compared to store bought Energiser/Duracell.
Also would die in a year or two if left unused.

    • +1

Back in 2021 I bought a 10-pack of Maxell for $11.85 shipped from Amazon (sold by Monster Trading)! I've found they're great and last as long as I'd expect. I get a pretty long service life out of them in my bicycle gear (power meter, heart rate monitor and speed sensor). It's 4 years later and I still have 4 left, so if I do the maths on that, they've lasted about 2 years each. I haven't observed any significant drop in capacity in that time either.

      • I get mine from ebay for usually 5 for under 5 bucks, and I have never had an issue with Maxell or Panasonic. I use them in my car remotes and get 18 months out of them which is par for the course for that remote no matter what battery you use, and I also use them in my 3d glasses and they last ages. I should mention I use more 2025 that 2032

    • If they don't advertise on TV, they aren't authentic. Apparently.

    • You want genuine buy from here https://shopmaxell.com.au/

Not cheap but definitely genuine. Based in Richmond VIC.

Surely Amazon, supplied by Amazon is authentic?

    • +9

It's a known problem that Amazon has 'bins' for various items that are mixed between Amazon and 3rd party vendor sourced. When an item is purchased it's grabbed out of the common bin for shipping. Also the top hits for CR2032 are shipped by Amazon, but not sourced by Amazon (see above comment).

If you search Reddit threads many people advise to not buy CR2032 from Amazon.

      • +3

I've had the same for other products as well.

If an identical product is available from another seller, but "Shipped by Amazon", you may randomly get an item from the third-party's supply chain instead of Amazon's (since they end up mixed together). If this happens, there's a good chance it's fake.

These days, if buying an item from Amazon, I'm very careful about checking the "Other Sellers on Amazon" list for the item. If there are any entries listed that say "Ships from Amazon", but "Sold By" a random third-party, I steer clear altogether.

Exactly right. The Maxwell batteries mentioned in the first comment are an example of this.

  • Find the packets quite challenging to open

I find the Ikea ones to be pretty good

    • Apparently they stopped stocking them as they weren’t renewable :( It went against their environment ethos so they don’t stock them anymore.

They were my go to as well.

      • +10

Really? That isa bit laughable given the amount of landfill items (quality wise) they stock these days.

        • +5

Yep you can't find them anymore. Apparently it's a global change. I used to use them in all my Aqara sensors.

Also why they redesigned all their smart home sensors to be AAA rechargeable now (which actually I prefer).

          • @JSONBourne: Nice. I'm a slave to 2032 sadly. Usually buy from ebay and cross my fingers they really are from Japan.

            • @Xizor: Never ever will I buy any CR2032 batteries (or any coin cell batteries) from eBay. They are almost guaranteed to be not genuine, and will only last a couple of months at best.

              • @DoctorCalculon: There are a few long time sellers that appear to be legit but yes got to be careful.

      Good pickup! The better deal

      • +7

Unit Cost for 6-Pack => $2.50 per unit
Unit Cost for 4-Pack => $2.93 per unit

    • Only if you’re going to use all 6 (in a reasonable time frame) though.

If you’re like me, this ends up being something you use 1-2 out of a 4 pack and the other two sit there for ages and eventually become unusable for intended purpose (car fob).

      • +1

They also have a 2-pack for $6 if you only need a couple

I buy $5 Anko ones from Kmart and they just do the work fine.

    • They all work fine when they do.. The question is - for how long do they last? That's what makes a difference.

      • Depends, 2x 4x $5 Anko, or 4x $11.7 Energizer.

Not saying for against anything, everyone has their own use cases.

        • +1

For important items like car keys as well as items difficult to reach, a good quality battery is essential. For others like toys, clocks and home remotes, cheap batteries will do.

It reminds me of people saying that they should always put platinum spark plugs in their Subarus, because it's so difficult to change spark plugs in those boxer engines.

      • +2

The Anko batteries last longer than what Apple recommends. I am happy with their life.

  • Always keep one in my car for garage door remote/ car key.

  • I just got a two-pack a few days ago for $5.7 as powerpass user.

  • According to Apple’s documentation, batteries with a child resistant bitter coating (i.e. bitterant) may not be compatible with AirTags.

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/102600

    • Interesting, i know Duracell have the coated batteries, but their website specifically claims it IS compatible with Apple airtags.

      https://www.duracell.com/en-us/product/cr-2032-lithium-coin-…

Anyone personally know if this is true?

      • Google Costco Duracell and you’ll see a lot of issues of people using Duracell batteries with AirTags. They had to use alcohol to remove the coating.

    • +1

Energizer and the Kmart Anko batteries are two of the brands I have no problems with for AirTags. Duracell are a problem though.

  • I got 2 packs for $3.40 at The Good Guys after a price match and paid using a $20 store cash.

  • How about Duracell 8-pack $2.37 per item?

    • Apparently Duracells have a bitter coating on them which actually interferes with how long they last/if at all. Lots of reports of being incompatible with Airtags until you rub them with alcohol.

      • Yeah, I read about that here. Never knew it was a thing!
I’ve been using a mix of Duracell and Energizer for years with my dozens of sensors at home. I always figured both were proper brands and just went with whichever was cheaper or on sale.
I never really noticed if some batteries died faster because of that coating. Definitely makes me rethink things now. Looks like I need to do some research!

How is this a deal? This is the regular price.

    • Regular price is $15-18 for Energizer?

      • +1

Regular price is $15-18 for Energizer?

The last couple I bought were. I know this because I joked to the missus that the 2 pack was $6 and I could save a massive 30cents by buying 4.

RRP might be $18, but nothing is ever RRP

  • don't bother with these. get made in japan maxell or made in indonesia panasonic coins both are better.

friend of mine bought a few red energizer for their car keys. still years before use by date and half of them couldn't even unlock the car after replacing, just completely dead. the ones that worked lasted 2-4 months instead of years. that's how they managed to go through 8 of them.
