        • Cheers for the heads up mate. Not sure if it's actually changed since the last time I went to the airport (pre cv) because the last time they gave me a refund it was below 300. In fact, if memory served me correctly, I think it was $215 for my GoPro.

Regardless, thank you for clarifying and providing a link

          • +3

@vash5: $300 for TRS has been there all this while.
I think when purchasing your GoPro, you might have other items in the same receipt that bring it > $300.
Since TRS is > $300 in a single receipt purchase from the supplier with same ABN.
So technically one can still claim TRS if they can spend up to $300 with 99 Bikes.

            • @RedStorm58: TRS is >300 for single ABN but can be over multiple receipts on different dates even.

    • yeah alot of people at work use these they are very popular.

Wonder how much better it is than the Xiaomi one I got off Aliexpress for about $8 delivered as a new user

Similar to you, I bought a cheapo 'bone-conduction' set of Soundcores off Amazon which was a clear dupe of the entry level SHOKZs.

It's not bone-conducting at all and it's a glorified set of mini speakers next to your ear with heaps of sound leakage. This might not be an issue to you if you're doing light gym work, but on the days where I'm doing heavy kickboxing bagwork at the gym eventually your sweat covers up the minispeakers and the sound becomes muffled so I've actually stopped using them for that purpose.

I highly recommend trying a SHOKZ product at the shops, JBHIFI has demo copies you can use. I don't know if they fix the issue I had with my cheapo ones but I guess you could always return it?

      • Yeah I got the cheap Ali ones and realised it's just tiny speakers next to your ear, make me wonder are Shokz just the same thing. Anyway, they were pretty much useless. I'd love to try the real deal and see what the difference is.

          shokz etc use high-frequency transducers

I love these headphones; sound is great, battery life great, call quality excellent, good for use while commuting (can still hear surrounds), and unlike in-ear I am not constantly fiddling with them, they just stay in one place. My only regret is not getting the mini version, I measured exactly for the large, but it sticks out a fair bit (I didn't account for having no hair, probably doesn't help)

    • Good tip.

I bought the openrun mini (not pro), and they fit perfectly. Was really surprised that a "mini" is big enough for many/most male heads.

Best running headphones I have ever had. Would buy the same again.

This is an overhyped product. I had the first series of Shokz Openmove, which was so good. I upgraded to this and have call dropouts and 80% of the time, callers on the other side telling me that they can't hear me properly. I am disappointed with this.

    • +6

I would return for a warranty replacement. I have this, works perfectly fine with no dropout and I use it for work meetings all the time. I had the Openrun Pro and aeropex models before this.

  • +3

Fun fact, if the buttons on your first gen OpenRun Pro's stop working within 2 years of purchase all by themselves which is a known fault and definitely not because you were wearing them under your motorbike helmet, you can get a free upgrade to these version 2 ones.

In saying that these are noticeably bassier than the originals, and USB C is a welcome touch, a little bit bulkier though

    • Great tip.. Ty πŸ™

    • I wear some shitty ones from AliExpress under my helmet with ear plugs in. You rate three ?

      • +1

The V1s were pretty good to ride with, I don't use any ear plugs and can happily listen to podcasts or Spotify with them - though I don't ride around heavy traffic so can't comment on that part. But 80 or 100 with the wind was no issue. The left side of my head was fine but the right did hurt a bit, maybe my head is misshapen, I do think that's why my buttons started acting up - really depends how snug your helmet is

I wouldn't use the V2s though, I'll put some pictures below, they're noticeably bigger and wider than the originals and I reckon they'll hurt a bit. Winter project for me is to repair the V1 so I can use them again

        https://imgur.com/a/LJ2Wbh8

        • Oh yeah massive difference between v1 and 2

    • I also definitely don't want to wear them under a motorcycle helmet. But lets say I did, how might they go? For example I also don't wear my galaxy buds2 under a helmet, mainly because they stick out a bit and come out when I put the helmet on.

      • See above mate. I wouldn't wear in ears either, the originals are pretty good but I'd avoid this specific listing for the bike. They are actually great for running though as they're designed

  • These are good for wearing at work if you do manual labour provided the environment isn't too noisy (like traffic on a main road). Battery life is about 10hrs and the button on the side pauses the music or answers the phone. The only annoying thing about them is the back part which interferes with hood like PPE.

    Nice stack bro

I have the original open run and use them exclusively for weight training, sometimes find in ear earphones to be too uncomfortable when doing compound movement (pull up , dead lift etc)

Hey, I’ve applied the $20 off and I got it to $235. How do I get it even lower? I don’t get the Woolies thing. Thanks

    • Anyone?

    • I can't see any link to sign up for their newsletter. Where is it?

Buy TCN Kids Gift cards from Woolworth (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/905603), every $100 get 2000 points which is equivalent to $10 credit.
Pay for this purchase using gift cards, hence indirectly getting the credit back in Rewards Points which can be converted to $10.

These are fantastic headphones. I bought the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium in 2017 and they are still going strong. I don't think I've had a pair of headphones that have lasted this long. I did 2 half marathons with them when I first bought them and recently did a 10k and they are still fantastic. The sound is not Sony/Bose ANC sound but they are perfect for running. Can easily listen to podcasts. The newer ones are so much lighter. I bought my wife these the Shokz OpenRun and she uses these for everything. Walking, running, watching shows and podcasts while she washes dishes etc and she loves them. She barely use the Sony WH-1000XM3 ones I bought her anymore. Actually she destroyed the original Sony I bought her and so I gave her my old ones and I upgraded to the Sennheiser Momentum 4. The Shokz OpenRun are more wife-proof if you know what I mean. She doesn't take care of her electronics that well. So these ones are likely to last longer in her hands.

I have the OpenRun Pro, for music I grabbed from this site autoeq, the eq profile and load it into my phones music player. Difference is night and day. The app I use is Symfonium, which is more for local music and local streaming music (Jellyfin/Plex).

I just got a pair of OpenRun Pro 2 as warranty replacement for my heavily-used 22-month-old OpenRun Pro (the band snapped in the middle while I was just walking along the street). So first of all, I can truly vouch for the 24-month warranty.

Difference I love: The sound quality is far, far better. Although weirdly there's no vibration so these don't even seem like true bone conduction and they have an actual speaker for bass, but the combination really works. I can properly enjoy music on these, not just radio and podcasts.

Differences I don't love: The new version is slightly heavier than the original, so I can feel them on my ears and head where I would forget whether the old ones were on or not. I was fine with the old charger which just clipped on magnetically. The new USB-C charger is behind a flap. The better sound quality seems to use more battery because they don't actually last as long despite having a slightly bigger battery.

  • I can create an account but can't seem to see how to sign up to the newsletter? Is it automatic? There has been no discount applied at checkout.

    • I would love to know this too.

    • Try with Chrome.
Samsung internet browser was blocking the signup box

  • Great for running, volumes a lil low but its ok.
I had enough of sweaty earbuds falling off, these stay on no issues.

    • Have you downloaded the shokz app and used the equaliser to increase the volume? Worked for me

Huge fan of Shokz (and bone conductors BCs in general for my personal use case) and this is a great deal. I've moved through the Shokz generations and currently use the prior version. It looks like people have already pointed them out but to confirm certain points
    - these are actually mixed bone and air conduction, probably why the bass is better. Apparently you can switch it off to replicate BC only in the app.
    - USB C charger, not the magnetic. It sounded to me awesome as one less cable but a bit of a fumble with the new flap. I just use an aftermarket adapter
    - Shokz has always been excellent with honouring warranty

    Other interesting options for BCs
    - Demicea B8 Librefit B8 - if you can get past the tampon sounding name - true independent ear BCs are actually really hard to find in the wasteland of cheap replicas but these are the real deal. Sound quality suffers from poor contact unless you have a beanie or head band on. I use it for sleep and long hauls as I don't like the band digging into my neck. It's probably only good info for a person with specific requirements.
    - Suunto Wing, looks like a better charging case option and head motion control (I have no experience but apparently a vigorous affair)

These were $157 on mydeal last week.

    • Was the deal posted?

      • -1

no someone linked it in a comment, just looked and it sold out. There was only 6 left at the time

    • Yes, I ordered some when it was showing 4 or 5 left. The next day I got a refund with no explanation. I question the quantity the seller on MyDeal actually had.

      • -1

there you go, chances are it was a pricing error then

  • Any good for practicing basketball, are they going to handle jumping or running and changing directions etc. OK?

      Relax, you're not Lebron James.

      You'll be fine

I got these to replace bose QC earbuds 2 for running. They're unreal, I love them at my weekly parkrun. They're also great for hikes or any time you want to be more in your surroundings while still listening to music or podcasts.

I would definitely recommend trying a set on, the 'mini' size will be a better fit for I reckon 90%+ of people. Unless you've got some weird pharaoh head you just don't need the band as long as it is on the regular version. JB normally have a display of them to check the fit.

  • Looks like the $20 offer not available if your email is already registered (so use another email…)

Also is the idea to buy TCN cards (digital ones) with a variable load for the amount of $235 - then buy Shokz online with TCN cards + $20 email product code?

  • Thanks OP, was in the market for some new Shokz and my order didn't go through with the ones that were being sold on MyDeal for $157 so this is the next best deal around at the moment.

      My pleasure πŸ‘πŸ‘

  • anyone successfully match with JB wat $235?

anyone successfully match with JB wat $235?

Very doubtful this will work because they work off sticker prices.

      • Yeah I just ended buying via 99 bikes

        Thanks OP

  • Can anyone help me out? I am entering the TCN Kids number/pin into the checkout screen of 99bikes and it says 'No result for (number)"?

    • Need to go to TCN website ans convert TCN GC to the retailer you are using

  • OK getting a little peeved with the gift cards - turns out you have to go TCN website and 'swap' the card with a 99bikes voucher - and when you try that you get "Your card can not swap for this voucher. Please contact us for assistance."

    • Hmmm this seems odd.

Worse case you can make instore purchase. The cards work like Efpos.

Sounds like issue with TCN. Haven't had this issue before.

  • Conclusion: Gift Cards are a horses a#se.

  • Price shows $277 before signups code

  • Hi Vash (OP) thank for your support re TCN cards - looks like I need to contact them - I gave up in the end and just bought with the $20 discount - still appreciate the deal - cheers.

  • Back to $277 now, deal expired :(
