Kraken is currently running a referral promotion for new users. If you sign up using a referral link and trade at least $200 AUD worth of crypto, both you and the referrer will receive $100 AUD in Bitcoin.

  • I recommend using Up with PayID for the $200 deposit (and ANZ may/may not work), since ING and CBA may hold the transfer for 24 hours.

  • After buying the A$200 BTC, I instantly received a reward notification for the A$100 BTC.

Tip 1: To pay lower fees on buying/selling, get the Kraken+ trial and then cancel it after.
Update - Tip 2: Some users have mentioned that you need to ensure that you enter the referral code on signup, if it doesn't automatically populate. The referral code appears on the referral link. If it automatically populates, as it did for me, you don't need to bother with the code.

    I signed up to Kraken+ and purchased using Kraken Pro BTC/AUD $200 but it said estimated trading fee was $0.50. I thought it was supposed to be free with Kraken+?

        So for others watching out there, don’t sign up to Kraken Pro.

        Just use Kraken with free Kraken+ subscription.

        The $200 bonus on Pro didn’t trigger because of the $0.50 fee.

    I'm a bit confused from the description OP has because
    under the heading "How it works" section 3 states:

    "Get paid together You both earn a A$100 bonus, paid within 14 days."

    but then in the "Key Info" bit it has "Bonus is paid in BTC and credited automatically"

    So do we get paid the $100 bonus pretty much right after we meet the trading requirements (kind of like how OKX do it)

      I had the same issue. I just made a deposit using standard BSB and Account number and it processed straight away using OSKO.

      I'm with uBank and have found them to be excellent with dealing with crypto exchanges (i.e. not getting blocked/locked and transfers processed immediately)

        Not that I’m aware of, but you will be notified once they’ve traded the $200.

        Both the referrer and referee receive an email immediately after the referee makes their $200 trade.

        You can see how many clicks have been made from your referral link here in Ozbargain. On this deal post, where it says "Referral Links", it will show the statistics for your referral link. Assuming you have put one into Ozbargain of course.

    Just a note for those trying to do this:

    1. Use Kraken, not Kraken Pro because Pro charges fees of approximately $0.50 when you make a $200 trade. So you will end up buying $199.50 of crypto and miss out on the bonus. Work around is if you fund your account with more than $200 to cover fees.

    2. Whilst Kraken charges even more fees with higher spreads, you can sign up for Kraken+ trial which will zero out trading fees. Set a custom limit for your trades to buy at a lower price. Ensure you cancel Kraken+ within 30 days.

    3. If your bank blocks transfers to Crypto exchanges, it is going to be time consuming to be on hold with your bank to unblock your account. I was with NAB and it was blocked as a precautionary measure. Then had to be on hold for 30 mins to get this sorted.

    4. PayID doesn't currently work (at least for me). Do an Osko transfer instead.

    I think when I clicked on the random referral, it opens a link and displays a code that you can enter in the app. I hope that's correct.

    Easy as - whole process took about 30 mins from sign up to $200 purchase and bonus email received.
    Slowest part was waiting for PayID to generate in app (~5-10 mins) and for PayID funds to land (~2-5 mins).

    I funded via PayID (I use Macquarie)

    Quick and easy, completed everything in 15 minutes (I used PayID which does take ~10 minutes to generate the PayID address, however once transferred, funds arrived instantly) and received the $100 bonus notification, thanks OP. Based on feedback, in summary:
    - do not use CBA for the PayID transfers, they will hold payment for up to 24 hours
    - do not use ING for the PayID transfer either (and probably the bank transfer method), they may suspend your account and this will take some time to unblock (which will put you in a difficult situation if you use it for your everyday banking, e.g. groceries, bills, etc)

    Guys, I noticed when I retrieve my referral link via copy referral link or invite friends, both of them generates a new link everytime.

    This is different to other platforms how get a default link.

      5. You will see a popup saying claim your $100 bonus.
      6. Click create account
      7. You will see a prompt to input your email and the text "Code applied" underneath it.

        Actually if for some reason code is not applied from referral link, there is a small link under email field that allows one to enter code manually - may be a good candidate to update instructions in the description.
