Kraken is currently running a referral promotion for new users. If you sign up using a referral link and trade at least $200 AUD worth of crypto, both you and the referrer will receive $100 AUD in Bitcoin.

  • I recommend using Up with PayID for the $200 deposit (and ANZ may/may not work), since ING and CBA may hold the transfer for 24 hours.

  • After buying the A$200 BTC, I instantly received a reward notification for the A$100 BTC.

Tip 1: To pay lower fees on buying/selling, get the Kraken+ trial and then cancel it after.
Update - Tip 2: Some users have mentioned that you need to ensure that you enter the referral code on signup, if it doesn't automatically populate. The referral code appears on the referral link. If it automatically populates, as it did for me, you don't need to bother with the code.

        Actually if for some reason code is not applied from referral link, there is a small link under email field that allows one to enter code manually - may be a good candidate to update instructions in the description.

    Thanks, it worked well and I got a message confirmation of the $100 bonus to be received in 14 days. A few tips:
    - I had to use the desktop computer to get my referral link, cause when I clicked on the ozbargain referral link from the mobile it only opened google play store and I couldn't get the referral link.
    - After installing the kraken app, on the first page to sign up there is written "Invite code" or something similar in tiny writing below where you enter your email address. Click on this link to apply your invite code before continuing on with the sign up.
    - Further into the sign up it will come up with an "Authenticate" screen with no further info about what to do. What it actually wants is your mobile PIN code or whatever unlock method you use with your mobile phone.

    If you're having trouble with PayID, I've used my credit card in the past and just transferred money to it. I found Payid wasn't even close to instant. I presume they still take credit cards; I've been using Kraken for years.

      You get charged a cash advance fee by your bank and a seperate added fee by Kraken for using your credit card. That's a very expensive way to make purchases.

    Signed up, thanks stranger who's code I used.
    Process took a few hours. Sent a test transfer using commbank for 5 bucks using PayID - still on pending

    Then used ubank and transferred via BSB/Account Number - instant OSKO transfer

        You only need to trade $200. That can be a $100 Crypto purchase then $100 crypto sale if you're just trying to get the referral bonus and minimise trading losses.

    Thank you OP for sharing the deal and to the random referrer for the invite code I used. Also the commenters that said to sign up for Kraken+ free trial to save on fees. I did a limit order for $200 BTC at slightly below current market price and it completed minutes later and instantly received the referral bonus email.     Up Bank blocked my payment, and via notification/chat asked me to verify my ID. After doing so, and notification/chat said I was good to go, my attempt to PayID again got blocked.

    Up Bank isn't as simple as OP stated. YMMV!

    I needed to resort to another bank, and unfortunately have been caught up in a 24 hour wait (Bankwest).

    Not sure why this has been marked as expired… The link still references $100. I had used the $100 referral yesterday when it was still at $100. Had some dramas with my PayID and it managed to clear just now. I did see some recent comments about it reducing to $50 for the referral from late last night until this morning, although I couldn't see anything to validate this.

    There was some ambiguity in the first few comments between other members and OP regarding how to get free trades and Kraken Pro.

      Edit: I've been playing with the referral code URL's… So it seems that I was eligible for the $100 referral as I signed up yesterday when it was in fact $100. Now when I try a current random referral, it only gives $50.

          You are too smart mate. The link still contains your referral and you put everyone in danger of losing the rewards as the last promo has been officially put down by kraken. They probably won’t honour the rewards as the last promotion has ended. They have 14 days to decide.
