Kicking off on the 1st of June is the next AliExpress Choice sale with these coupons available during the sale. The equivalent USD rates haven't been released yet and when they do I'll update the deal. Deal updated with US$ discounts + new coupons.

Since this is a start of the month Choice sale it's not sitewide and assume they won't work on Big Save limited deals. Just so you know before blowing up my inbox about how it's not working on a Ryzen 7700. If I find out otherwise I'll say.

The minimum spend excludes GST and shipping. Each coupon is 1 per account and don't stack with the new user account "Welcome Offer".

  • bit off topic but the prices for retroid pocket 4/5 been pretty average lately?

    • -4

      Why 'pretty' ?

    • I bought mine at launch, so haven't been watching the prices for it. It's a great device.
Want to try the official grips though.

      • Have you got the Pocket 5? The new Mario Kart 8 update for the Switch makes it run even better. I'm very optimistic Mario Kart World will run great on it too.

        • Still need to reference an original switch to emulate?

      • i was considering pocket 5 for when i dont want to take out my steam deck, but i think i prefer the form factor of flip 2 - but worried about early batch teething problems - not that anything major has been reported so far (afaik).

      Name & Shame seller

    • nah 14 days free returns still

      • Wait, you guys are doing returns on AliExpress? I've tried to raise issues twice in the past and just get rude responses or crickets. I just figured it was part of doing business with them.

        • +1

There are generally two ways to raise issues. Either with AliExpress or directly with the seller. It's more successful if you do it via a returns form through AliExpress rather than trying to negotiate a resolution with the seller.

    • Literally did a free return yesterday that’s going back to NSW

Curious what you had to return to Hong Kong? Was it Lau from Batman?

      • gold

    • I had one item that requested me to send it back to hk and the shipping was 3/4 of the price of the item and it was a Choice item. They would reimburse me for the cost. However it was the only item that I experienced that made me do that.

    WTR Max in June? :D

    • N5 Pro also coming out then!

      • +1

Nice! I think i'd wait for that on Amazon though, given we get an option to buy theere.

  • Will gmktec be cheaper on Aliexpress or Amazon? The choices are insane no idea which one is which

    https://amzn.asia/d/c4QsK1R

    • Sometimes. Often Amazon ends up being better value for 16GB/512GB configurations. What are you planning on using it for?

      • No frills wfh business computer - win11 is a toughie though, eats up my current 16GB ram so want the 32GB/2TB combo.

        • Run mint linux then

          • @OzzyBrak: That's not no frills.

            • @Clear: Lots of frills, easy on ram and cpu.

              • @OzzyBrak: Business friendly? Nope.

                Linux

                • @Clear: Meanwhile Linux is happily running the majority of business workloads around the work.

                  • @OzzyBrak: Bad comparison, as servers are a whole different category to a consumer office PC. We could talk about Windows Server, VMware etc at length.

                    • @Clear: Based on the post it’s a non corporate IT environment, they are looking for an incredibly cheap pc, so we can assume very small business. They complain about the resource demands of Windows 11 on cheap hardware.

In that described scenario Linux is the perfect solution. Runs well on weak or old hardware, will work fine for most business tasks.

If the user needs Windows for software compatibility, then spend more money and buy better hardware.

                      • @OzzyBrak: So it's pretty simple. Go higher than 16GB.

                        • @Clear: Nothing cringe about it. If they require windows for software compatibility sure. If they don’t, cheaper hardware and better software.

Edit: You edited Linux cringe out during my reply.

                          • @OzzyBrak: Yes it was a cringe moment on my behalf. It just reminds me of hiring where you get all these stereotypical neckbeards who think Linux is king, everyone should use it, everyone can easily adapt to it, everyone wants to spend time mucking around with driver installs and finally thinking everything runs it.

                            • @Clear: I think people should use whatever they like, I’m OS agnostic. Mint is easy to use and feels like Windows. It is worth considering for people on weak or older hardware.

If they are locked into Windows due to 365, OneDrive, Teams etc then buy better hardware and keep on using Windows.

Linux is number 1 tho, every android phone, almost every server on the internet, most imbedded stuff. Windows rules over corporate and home desktops/laptops. MacOS has university students, designers, content creators etc. Linux desktop is enthusiasts or those who want to give old hardware a second chance.

I get the error "This coupon code is for single use only". Does anybody know if you can create a new account and use the codes again or do they match your data?

Oh it hasnt started yet maybe thats the issue…

Remember to factor in the ~ +10% mystery tax if comparing to other sites.

    • They take 10% of the original price before discount. This is what I have been observing for bundle deals.

    • +1

Also factor in the 17 to 20% GST AliExpress charges.

      • +1

This is what I'm referring to… I bought a few things from ebay as they were cheaper after the mystery tax applied…..gulp!

    • Yeah, why is that?

I sometimes find its better to just get the items from the cart or the Super Deals then as bundles that have this stupid high tax and evaporates any savings.

I thought it was charging tax on the pre-discount prices, but based on my maths and adding in multiple items this doesn't always seem to be the case.

      • Try chinese math Mr Hugo

  • Does this only work if an item individually is over that amount? I tried to add it on total of 30 and none of small ones worked

  • +2

Hope we see some good Reolink deals soon! I want to get a setup going beyond just the poe doorbell I have.

  • I'm rather confused by all the 'categories' of sales
I got the normal cart(?) which some says choice
then sometimes in search I'm taken to 'bundle'/'super' deal Which is sometimes more and sometimes less expensive than the normal and then they have their own cart?

    • The normal shopping cart will sort by Choice and non-Choice and you can select from either.

The bundle deals is a separate section where you can pick X amount for X. This has its own section with a seperate cart to the rest of AliExpress.

      • Bundle deals supposed to be better value? In both cases I need to buy several items to get free shipping anyway. But some things seem to be cheaper on one and some seem to be cheaper on the other.

And you can't seem to search in the bundle deals you just randomly get taken there on the normal search.

        • Bundle deals can sometimes be better and the search in there has been broken for a while if on the app. Normal AliExpress search you'll know if you're going there as it'll say " > Bundle Deals" underneath the product image.

  • So deal appears to be live now?

    • Nah. Banners are up and about 18 hours to go.

      • Thanks. Yeah, i just went to buy and got "This code isn't quite valid yet. Try again later."

Since you're new not new to OzBargain the start times are listed multiple times in deals. The bottom part is probably the most important.

Haha I never knew about the time part at the button. Thanks!

Are global version mobile phones from AliExpress now working in Australia after the 3G shutdown with appropriate bands? When do discounts apply for phones? Getting " single use only " advice?

    • I hope you didn't try the coupons today. Still expect them to not work when the sale is live.

    • My Chinese version Vivo X100 Pro (OriginOS) still works fine. Full 5G speed and all.

  • Recommendations for a fitbit/Garmin Aliexpress special? Something by Xiaomi? I want to track KM splits while running and cycling.

    Thanks ;-)

    • I've had both Xiaomi Smart Band and Xiaomi Watch, both incredibly impressive for the price and the batteries last many many weeks. Highly recommend either, depending on your preference.

depends if you can get the Xiaomi app, I think it's called Mi Life or something. Sorry not sure, I used an Android

  • nothing to buy……

  • Anybody else getting: "Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount."

My purchase subtotal is well over the requirement even after the discount and shipping is free, all of the items I have in the cart say "Coupons applicable"…

Also why is tax not 10%?

    • What's the USD price ex tax and shipping and which coupon are you using? It's not sitewide so not all products are going to be eligible.

      • My bad one of them wasnt choice but I got baited by the "Coupons applicable" sign

Any good AMD chip deals going right now?

      $369 $40 10.84%
  • The seller I was planning to buy from doubled all their prices just before the codes became live, so its now 40% more expensive after code.
As an example this 8 pack of batteries were $38 (checked at 4pm), now $69.
