GL.iNet GL-MT6000 Flint 2 is a router with Wi-Fi 6.
better of with openwrt stuff. asus software is rubbish.
I was all on board the gl inet hype train but really depends on router…flint 2 is not without issues.
I really unsure what issues you speak of? I've had mine for 9+ months and it has been flawless. The range of it is ridiculous - even on 5ghz channel.
Pretty solid router. Stock firmware.
I own ASUS RT-AX86U x2 with 2.5gbe ethernet backhaul for almost 4yrs no hiccups — I use 2gbe switch in my room because of ports limitation of the router. I only utilize my bandwidth during file transfer over my NAS, also most my wireless devices at home are wifi6 yet I find my setup overkill.
Interesting that people fighting over WIFI6 or 7 bandwidths were for everyday use you don't really need faster than 5ghz considering this router can push 4000Mbps
That's 4000mbps+ combined speed. I don't think this router can go more than 1500mbps real world speed on a single Wifi6 client. This could be something a user may want if they had for example a 2gbps Internet connection (like from the upcoming nbn upgrades), in which case Wifi7 would be more appealing.
I guess you are right but my setup felt overkill for my 1gb internet with 5 heavy internet users at hone, considering wifi signal is still insane and stability.
Router still has beef in it but what strucks me lately is the price never really went down since I bought it 4yrs ago.
Anyone else getting an error saying they won't ship to your address? Regional NSW.
yep, it's bizarre. Could just have payment instead of not shipping at all
Wound up getting it shipped to a friend who was slightly less regional. Weird thing is initially his address was showing up with the same error, but then it let me complete the transaction.
Anyone can recommend beta or stable?
I always use stable for years, unless you have specific reason to use the beta.
Seeking your expert input fellow OzBargainers, as I am far from technical (but happy to be taught!).
Worth getting this to form an AiMesh with my existing TUF Gaming AX5400 (can't do wired backhaul)?
Currently on a Launtel 50/20 plan. HFC. Refurb Optiplex furthest away is still giving me 49.13/17.71 just then, per speedtest.net.
Probably not worth it then, until I go for a faster plan down the track (by which point the WiFi standard would probably be better/faster again)?
Not worth it if you don't have any blackspots and are still getting satisfactory speeds.
If you move up to a 1gbps Internet plan the TUF AX5400 might struggle depending on distance, but can still reach up to real world speed of 880mbps from a single Wifi6 client according to reviews. For comparison the AX86U Pro here can go up to 1300-1500mbps on a single Wifi6 client. Even though they are both Wifi6 routers, you can see it is the hardware itself that matters a lot in these cases, not just the standard.

Have no idea what you mean by flint 2 but if you got older Asus routers then those could form AiMesh network the only problem is only wifi 6 main unit only
