have a like - won't be touching this for more than $500
happy to wait a year or two

    • +36

Good luck with that - You'll be waiting ~3 years for that level of discount going off the Switch 1 pricing.

        • +11

There was only like 20 of that stock, not a good benchmark

      • +25

then I'll wait the 3 years - can't justify that price with the 800k mortgage, ~400 game steam library, 3x consoles collecting dust and ~10 free hrs a month to play

        • +20

Sounds like you've got other problems if you have 400 game steam lib tbh

          • +5

@TightAl: Problem starts with 500 games

            • +4

              @Dienk: Don’t see why that’s a problem.
I am in a Steam Family and we (6) people share 1000 games.
And keep in mind games on steam can go for 3-5 dollars or less unlike Switch games.

          • +5

            @TightAl: Wait 400 is a problem!?
No one told me, I have over 4,000…

          • +5

@TightAl: I thought the 800K mortgage was the problem - lol

        • +2

and the main problem isn't even the console's price……………………

        • I totally feel you with that comment but switch 2 is worth it in terms of easier to manage game time

        • -2

bragging about unplayed games in a website about saving money makes you look dumb

          • @Freestyle: ..and this comment makes you come off judgemental and vain :)

those 400 games I've probably only spent $1000 on.. over maybe 10years

            • -1

@Jaspa7: still money wasted and claiming you dont like wasting money

          • +1

            @Freestyle: The irony…

Insulting them, when you didn't even properly read what they wrote.

      • +1

I mean it probably would depend on sales? The Switch 1 was a hit and 2 is just very underwhelming imo. I won't touch it until the next 3d Zelda game but even then I would still seek further discount first and foremost

    • -4

problem wasnt only the price, it was also because the hardware is already 4 yrs old at launch, typical nintendo

    • +1

Same - only one decent game out and it didn't really meet my expectations. Happy to wait for a secondhand one from someone more eager than me who subsequently becomes disappointed.

  • -2

    price drop already?

  • +8

Good price for early adopters, but will personally wait until sub $550.

  • Would be sub-$600 after cashback at Everyday Market via ShopBack today:

    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1123710717…

Or $666 for the bundle https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/1123710697…

Was a $200 cap last month though https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904981

    • +5

You'd be lucky if it a) tracked, b) wasn't rejected later

Everyday market is a known cashback problem

    • Was 769-76.9-50 with shopback westpac. And cash back was before switch delivery

    • +1

Nope! Just ordered 1 and shopback only give me $11.56.
      Going to cancel my order.

  • +1

    How?

  • -6

    Im waiting for $400

    • +15

going to pick mine up from the OP shop once the switch 5 comes out

      • +4

You again, the switch 2 living rent free lol.
If you did some research the new screen is highly regarded even compared to the old oled.

        • -1

The new screen is simply “ok” - but a terrible attempt from Nintendo to double dip in a few years time when an OLED comes out

          • -1

@cille745: No it isnt ok its actually very good. Have you seen one in person?

            • +1

@Spendmore: Yes I have, both a switch oled and 2. The new one doesn’t compare.

Don’t lick Nintendo’s boots - paying $700 for a worse screen than a 4 year old switch sucks

              • +5

@cille745: Not sure why Nintendo fans say the things they do.. it's by far a step backwards by not including OLED… 100 percent it's a money grabbing opportunity as they will release an OLED version later and these same fans will again froth at the mouth at nintendo because of a new and better screen.

              • -1

@cille745: Lol bootlicker, whats next..simp? You guys are so predictable. I reckon you dont have a NS2 at all, But lets say you are right that a larger screen with better resolution, brightness but slightly grey black is not as good as the little oled, then I guess the unanimous reviews praising the screen are all wrong. Buy one, compare then come back.

                • +1

@Spendmore: No one is dismissing the point that the larger and better resolution points aren't welcomed. And year it's a very good LCD but it's still not OLED good.
From a pure technical perspective and the joy when playing OLED will always outshine with colour saturations and contrast over the best LCDs
Look at steam deck vs steam deck OLED. How many people will say "ohh don't go the OLED the LCD is good enough"..
You are getting a little worked up and defensive and taking the points on tangents when the discussion was that switch took a step backwards in the form of screen technology. It is what it is..
Just enjoy your switch 2. My brother bought it
But I'm happy to hold onto my current switch until the inevitable switch 2 OLED.
Another thing I hope they introduce in the next revision are hall effect sensor sticks. Why they omitted this is also puzzling.

                  • @maverickjohn: I have an oled tv and I guarantee some of the micr led tvs are very close to being as good as it. I would take a new oled over an old one yes however i wouldn't settle for an old oled over a new lcd if that image was better just to have pure blacks.

                    • @Spendmore: My c9 is nearly 6 years old and no mini led tv has shown to be better.
Haven't seen a micro led tv released yet.. but that may be on me. When that technology comes out I'll relook at the situation.
Do you remember when apple switched from the best LCDs on their phones and went to OLED. It was still considered an improvement.
For now I don't think the switch 2 is even mini led. And yes it's a very good LCD but for many of us we are happy waiting for an OLED variant. The point we are saying is not that it's not good but it's a step backwards that it's not OLED. No matter how good the LCD is right now.

                    • +1

@Spendmore: Agreed - but the switch 2 doesn’t even have any local dimming, it’s far behind what it should be at $700

          • -3

@cille745: There isn't going to be an OLED model. What problem would an OLED model solve? The screen is already excellent.

Stop believing every troll clickbait opinion and think from the developers point of view. The only new model you can expect is a cut down + smaller lite version. The console is too big for children.

      • $399 in 2025 lmao

even Switch 1 OLEDs are still over $500 brand new and barely below $450 on sale

  • +7

Will see if there would be a better deal on Switch 2 on Prime Day this July.

  • +2

    Hodl till BF

  • +10

Wake me up when it's OLED..

    • The screen is beautiful

      • Yeah I have no doubt it is. But my 8 year old child is rocking a Switch OLED today and he can wait. 🤣

      • +1

I disagree tbh. It is FINE. But it looks like ass with a dark game like Cyberpunk.

        • i plan to play cyberpunk with the vr mod when i have the time to set it up

    • Sameee… Maybe I'll buy one of those if it ever comes out

  • +4

A good opportunity to quit games altogether

  • OOS

    • -2

That was quick. Seems like it wasn't overpriced after all (at least for launch)

  • Easily drop to $600 for a while I’d say and then maybe get lucky at $550 with special on special using gift cards or something

  • +1

Wow OOS must be all now on Gumtree.

  • wonder how our aud prices compare to the usd eur countries haha

    • +1

This is the first time I'm aware of that we didn't get shafted relative to other countries.

Currently base model is available here at $454.44USD (at RRP) whereas in US it is $449.99 + tax.
Mario Kart World is $98 here ($63.63USD) whereas the cheapest price in US seems to be $79USD at Best Buy ($121.68AUD).

  • Are people buying these for adults or for their kids lol

    • +5

Its like lego it appeals to all ages.

    • Still enjoy mario kart from kid and then adult

    • -1

Please Sir, may I have some more?

      Nintendo Switch +
      2xCR2032 batteries

    • I appreciate you posting this. And I actually needed the batteries as well. Cheers mate.

    • -1

Having trouble with it, there's still 3x Switch 2 in stock with the seller but when I put in the voucher and go to purchase it says

This item is gone but there's more to see

I tried changing the battery from cr2032 to cr2016 but can't get it to checkout still.

      • You could’ve missed out when others bought the last 3 all within the last 10 minutes as per the purchase history and also the seller changed the quantity available around 12:27am

Not sure who negged my comment and those who replied to my original comment

        • Thanks for the link, purchase history shows
          3:13am
          3:20am
          3:24am

for the last 3 purchased, I was trying to get it around 2:45am and my ozbargain comment made 2:56am. Guess those other buyers had somehow reserved the last 3, they must've been stuck during paypal checkout or something. eBay weirdness.

No idea who negged your and my comments either. The deal was there even if it was sort of unobtainable.
