  • Do you plan to print with ABS/ASA?

    • +1

ABS / ASA requires an enclosure to keep the heat in.

But you need to use ABS to print a sturdy enclosure…

I've heard that most go with PETG for enclosures.

I mostly print PLA & PETG, but the enclosure helps so much with keeping it quiet - highly recommended.

I recently found an IKEA lack enclosure from kerbside collection: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/82921/122073/img202506…
And no, I didn't take it.

  • I got one for mine. It does keep the noise down, I print right behind my computer desk but don't expect silence. It just brings down some of the more annoying higher pitched noises. Only print in PLA at the moment, but remember this doesn't solve the filtering issue for printing toxic filament, you need to do some extra prints/purchases to get close to that. And it also has plenty of gaps around due to it's nature, so don't expect a fully sealed enclosure. Fun project though, and does give extra options.

  • Wonder what the price of the AD5X will be

    • Currently $479.20 after 20% off.

      • oh yeah, just saw it. I was trying to see the 4 rolls mounted to the side on the thumbnails.

That's quite some sharp pricing for a core XY with multi-filament capability

  • For those wondering… the parts you need to print will take 2 days and 2kg of filament. That's from the ebay description.

If I was printing an enclosure for this mahcine again I would print this version by Doug Joseph https://www.printables.com/model/1247920-new-v30-of-top-rise…
