  • Is the AMD version better or worse?

How’s AMDs integrated gpu’s on these compared chips?

    • +1

I think the AMD version would offer better performance. The only downside for me with AMD is the lack of thunderbolt support. Being able to plug the laptop into a dock and it displaying on two monitors is a bonus.

If you don't need this feature, the equivalent AMD is stronger in every way.

      • I don't know how it works on the e14 g5 specifically, but my l14 gen 3 ryzen 5 5675u you get an HDMI out onboard (HDR/vrr/4k60), and 2 USBC ports that can both output video if you give them an HDMI USB C dongle.

Thunderbolt isn't strictly a requirement for that.

The AMD version of this laptop does have a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port (with DisplayPort 1.4)

With an appropriate dock you could connect up to 3x 4K monitors to it (2x @ 60Hz and 1x @ 30Hz)

AMD version is now oos on their ebay site though

  • is it possible to upgrade memory to 32GB?

    • Current specs "16 GB DDR4-3200MHz(8 GB Soldered + 8 GB SODIMM)"

So 1 slot can be upgraded and 32GB DDR4-3200 is an option, giving you 40gb ram total. (16GB stick give you 24gb total)

    • +2

Yes, this comes with 8GB soldered + 8GB, got mine on Friday and upgraded to 40GB with a 32GB stick

    Need a touch option!

  • Looks like Lenovo has been clearing out laptops with previous generation processors for while!

    • Newer chip, but build quality wise, I think even the budget ThinkPad E-series is better than ThinkBook.

  • Description says optional touch screen ? What’s that mean

Would this be durable enough and suitable for a high school laptop ?

    • I think it would make a perfect school laptop. light & durable. It has good performance and battery that will last awhile.

    • bought the AMD version, feels like one of the toughest laptops I have seen (if this is also aluminum top and bottom, they seem identical)

  • Ordered myself one today. Worked out cheaper to pay the $9.99 for eBay plus and then order it. Looking forward to its arrival.
