  • Is anyone able to get free Uber delivery?

    • +2

Yes, bought this last Thursday for the same price with free Uber Delivery.

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/255280/122544/img_0132…

yesterday, 28/6, the price beat was only $53

@Suzique No, it wasn’t. Was $42 for at least a few days before decided to order on Thursday.

      • Thanks Hybroid. Weird that I don't get the option to select Uber delivery, even though I have checked that my NSW postcode is eligible. Oh well, perhaps they pulled the plug on Uber delivery.

        • +1

I imagine because it’s selling out and there isn’t one available locally to you to be sent over via Uber. There was plentiful stock last week and now seems nothing in West Sydney, it’ll probably come back around.

  • +7

Same price on Amazon, price applied at checkout

    • +1

thanks , bought if from Amazon,, yes same price

  • 10% cashback from Shopback too

    • Does shopback CB works for goodguys $25 coupon?

    • +1

Shopback T&C states it won't give you any cashback for Price-Beat items, can always try and see if GG/CB will honour it but doubt it.

Any Price Beat discount amounts or promo code discount amounts that have been applied to the order

    • How are you getting 10% im seeing 0% in app.

  • +1

be good if you could switch between bottom heat only and both elements

    • +1

      Leave the top open?

      • +1

if you're frying eggs as in the promo pics you'll want the top open but given it's 1800watts that's a not insubstantial waste of power to just burn off

        • 2-in-1 space heater and egg fryer, good for a hearty breakfast on a cold winters morning! All about perspective 😂

    • +1

It would be good if you could switch on just one side as well. I've wished this from toasters for many years.

  • +4

The breville with two flat elements is so much easier to clean.

    • -2

Do you have a link for the Breville one?

    • +1

I've never owned the Breville but I do the Sunbeam and I 100% regret buying it because of how difficult it is to clean. None of the parts are removable.

      • Have had both, and Breville easier to clean, but I like the ridges the top on the Sunbeam gives. To clean I just spray top & bottom with spray & wipe, and use a crumpled paper towel. Seems to do a decent enough job.

    • +1

Agree. Used to own the Breville, and have used the Sunbeam at work. Prefer the Breville.

It's a piece of iron with two giant resistors and a hinge. What makes it worth twice as much as this?

    • +3

The quality of the materials used and the build quality.

      • +3

Sometimes they charge more just because they can like phones and cars

        • +6

Im speaking as someone who has owned both these products.

          • @Axelstrife: Okay I also got more and more sunbeam products lately and can trust their extra charge

            • +2

@bcYield: The only sunbeam product i would never recomend and this is based on probably the last 10 years is their Kettles.

ive owned two sunbeam kettles in the last 10 years and both failed in under a year while ive also owned 2x Kmart $7.50 kettles and both have never died with me replacing the first cause the plastic on the bottom turned black colour so i replaced it.

      • +1

My original Sunbeam sandwich maker I bought in 2003 and it's still going strong

      • +2

        Gave you a present.

      • +2

Clearly you dont understand there is more to items then tha basic fuctions, Build quality matters.

        • -5

Bro it's a sandwich press not a drill press

          • +1

            @picklewizard: Buy once cry once.

Bro it's $42 vs $22 no reason to cheap out on something so cheap.

      • +9
        • Sunbeam one is wider.
        • Sunbeam is 1800w vs 1000w for the Kmart one.
        • Sunbeam has the ripple design top plate, which some people may prefer.
        • Sunbeam has a different height adjustment mechanism, which may be better.
        • Sunbeam has twice the warranty.
        • Sunbeam has a better reputation for quality over Kmart.

Both will make toasties. If you are on a tight budget the Kmart one would be better, otherwise I think the Sunbeam is a good deal for $20 more.

Imagine being outraged over a genuine question lol…

        • Imagine if it wasn't outrage

    • +1
      1. Made in China iron with two giant resistors and a hinge at low quality
      2. Made in China iron with two giant resistors and a hinge at high quality

      I'll pick the obvious.

      Also 2 years warranty.

      • -1

I can't believe I'm wasting my Sunday arguing with strangers about the build quality of sandwich presses, but the reviews are excellent and I'm honestly not sure how much "build quality" something like this needs.

This is OzBargain and people are going "ooooh bargain" over something that is twice as much as the everyday price of the Anko equivalent with the only difference being perceived "build quality".

        • +1

OzB spirits had left the building long time ago.

        • I've had a number for the anko ones at my house and my parents house over the last 15 years. Never had a hinge break. There is minimal if any quality difference. Buy the Anko one.

          • @sickllama: Did you try any other Brand than Anko? Genuinely interested.

One should consider two quality checks… 1. The sandwich maker and 2. The sandwiches.

Which one are you referring to?

            • @PopCounty: I've used other brands at work and can't tell the difference.

It's a toasted sandwich maker. They're extremely simple machines that are most likely all built using similar components. The more expensive brands really don't noticeably change the quality of the sandwich made.

    • +4

I own this Kmart one, it's only 1000W and takes forever to heat up and cook anything in a reasonable amount of time. 👎
The Sunbeam is 1800W and will heat up and cook your toasties in no time 👍

    • +1

The adjustable hight hinge is worth it alone, the much faster heat up time a bonus.

  • But camping hot sandwich sorted

    • +1

Count me out (not that I was invited).

  • Tomorrow?

  • for click and collect, except 2 store no store has in stock in NSW :-(

  • +1

Does it come with a on/off switch? I have an older model which doesn't, IMO a huge safety risk if you forget to unplug the cable after use.

    • +1

Most AU wall socket should have individual power switch.

      • Except people can forget esp in busy mornings, a toaster turns itself off when the job is done, this one doesn't.

    • I have this and there is no switch.

  • +1

Good price. My almost 9 year old older model still refused to give up on me and makes good toasties for kids, so am gonna keep using it for now.

  • Based strokeposter title

For me - and I'm ready for all the negs - you can't beat a jaffle. Yes, it limits the type (shape) of bread you can use, but there's nothing better than biting into a jaffle which has cheese, tomato, ham etc inside it that is the temperature of molten lava.

    • +1
    • +1

I see no reason for negs. I like both. Hard to beat the ham cheese and tomato, but maybe try a baked bean cheese and onion, great for breakfast.

Another couple I like are chicken, cheese & pineapple or roast beef, cheese and chutney.

      • I never have leftover chicken, always gets eaten at the first attempt. Pineapple is fruity! Love some jalapenos and/or red peppers marinated in olive oil Italian style. What's your policy on buttering bread for jaffles?

        • Marinated peppers sounds good, be nice with salami and cheese. I don't use any butter or margarine on them, I like the dry crunchy edges. I may be weird, but I only ever use butter or marg when I have Promite, either on toast or fresh bread.

        • +1

Leftover bolognese sauce. Nutella and peanut butter is also so good but feels illegal.

          Butter on the outside always.

          • @oatmatcha: Bolognese sauce in a jaffle. Now we're branching out! What could we add to it to thicken it up a touch. I'm thinking some Provolone cheese, maybe a bit of mortadella.

            • @Charlie Dont Surf: TBH I thought cheese was a prerequisite in a savoury jaffle, so it's a yes from me. Some parm too.

    • +1

Why would you get negged for being right?

  • Is this the one similar to the one that many OzBargainers got for $27-$29 years ago?

  • +1

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Sunbeam-Sandwich-AnyHeightTM-Sandw…

Shows 16.01 coupon at the moment. make it $41.99

  • Amazon delivery up to 22 August. Is that correct?

    • Shows 15 Jul - 3 Aug for me (NSW)

      • Yeah okay im regional qld. It's a bit too long to wait and I don't have a gg near me.
