Exetel rebranding and simplifying their offering by the looks with only one plan.

nbn FTTP or HFC only.

Update: Exetel can organize the nbn FTTN/FTTC to FTTP upgrade (selected locations).

One Plan 500/50 $80/month ongoing (1000/100 for an extra $1/day)
Typical evening speed: 500/40Mbps
Unlimited Data
BYO router
Designed for 2-6 person households

Hibernate
Going on a holiday or taking a tech break? Dial your internet speed down and save $1 /day when you don’t need it—giving you peace of mind and extra savings while you’re offline.

Warp speed
For an additional $1/ day you can upgrade your internet speed up to 1000Mbps anytime you want. Need to download a big file in a hurry or binge watch a streaming series in 4K? Go for Warp Speed. TES: 860/85Mbps.

Cancelling Your Internet Service
Want to cancel your service? There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle. For example, if your cycle starts on the 1st and you cancel on the 14th, you'll be charged for the full month. Alternatively, you can choose to ride out the service until the end of the billing cycle.

Once you set your cancellation date, any Warp Speed fees or Hibernate credits from that cycle will be added to your final bill which can be paid via the app. After everything is processed, we’ll send you a receipt.

Payment Information
A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited from your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. Payments made by Credit card incur a 1% transaction fee. You can avoid this fee by selecting to pay via PayTo. This option is available in your Exetel app after order confirmation, under Payment and Invoices.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT) and IPv6

Currently, Exetel does not offer the option to provide a public IPv4 address or disable CG-NAT on our broadband plans, including the Exetel One internet plan. All new broadband services are provisioned with CG-NAT by default.

Exetel uses a dual stack setup, which means you get both IPv4 (via CG-NAT) and IPv6. Here’s what this means for you:

  • Your devices and services will work with both older (IPv4) and newer (IPv6) internet technologies.
  • IPv6 is ready for the future and supports modern websites, cloud services, and smart home devices.
  • Some online games and services may perform better or have lower latency with IPv6.

Most customers don’t need to do anything—your modem and devices usually support IPv6 automatically. If you want to check your IPv6 compatibility, you can visit the test-ipv6.com page.

IPv6 will be enabled by default on the plan shortly and retroactively applied to everyone who has taken up the plan. If you disconnect/reconnect you should be dual stack.

Good price for 500 mbps. No discount but better overall in the long run. Watching the competition now.

    • +3

Yeah, my 100/20 $69 deal with Superloop expires later this year so hoping the competition ups their game.

I wasn't a fan of exetel following their series of price increases when I was on 50/20 with them. But this is a good price.

      • +2

Price increases are from nbn wholesale. Many providers put up the 50/20 price.

        • +2

Yes, but exetel was going beyond what the wholesale increase was by quite a fair bit with the last price increase they issued me. And after calling up to negotiate a fairer increase, they still stuffed it up on the next bill.

  • +5

In Sept the packages would double the speed automatically.

    • What do you mean?

      • +2

FTTP and HFC old speed tiers automatically get changed from September. It's up to the provider on what speed tiers they sell.

Old Speed Tiers New Speed Tiers nbn Technology Type
        100/20 500/50 FTTP and HFC
        250/25 750/50 FTTP and HFC
        1000/50 1000/100 FTTP and HFC
        2000/100 HFC
        2000/200 FTTP
        2000/500 FTTP
        • +1

          omg I need the 2000/500 tier :F

        • @Twix
Would you know what the pricing would be?
Will ISP increase their prices as well?

          • @dajiska: Some providers have said no price increase. For what speed? Who is your provider?

    • What happens to 50/20 plans?

      • Nothing, 50/20 doesn't get a speed boost.

        • This plan should be heavily discounted but NBN and retailers are probably pushing for higher speeds, so this wont happen.
If 500/50 can be sold at $80, 50/20 should be like $20-30 a month?

          • +1

@racingmiku: If they did this most people would never go onto a higher plan. They are making higher speeds cheaper to get people to justify spending more overall on a higher speed plan, similar to mobile carriers increasing data limits (and prices) even if people are happy with what they already have.

  • +4

I’m no business expert but seems like an odd move to simplify and only offer one plan?

    • +33

Today's new business plan: "One plan to rule them all!"
Then in 3/6 months: "Introducing new plans tailored for every needs!"

      Keeps the business experts employed.

      • +2

Off the back of the success of our one plan we propose offering a whole menu of plans. Each catering to the needs of a different segment of society.
        Brilliant!

    • +3

Its great marketing, Good price point for a high speed plan, will get more people to move to them rather then move away. TBH its very smart. I mean, we are talking about it right?

    • +2

Technically its also a $50ish 12/1 plan and a 110ish 1gb plan if you leave hibernate or warp speed on all the time

    • Particularly when they tried to jack up my old 250/25 plan by $20 a month less than 2 months ago

  • +11

    good price for 500mbps

  • just saw this cluple of hours ago when i was trying to cancel the service. I thought i am on wrong exetel, will give them call and ask them about this One plan as well, if its from them.

  • Good price for fttp 500/50. I was just about to swap back to More Internet for $95 pm for 1000/50 (with cba Yello discount). Might give Exetel a whirl for $80 for 500/50.

    • -1

Yes, same here and paying $83 for 250Mb at More.

    • Yep, just made the switch. Was on Origin Internet after the rewards points deal. They don't appear to be charging exit fees or require 30 days notice. So cancelled straight away and Exetel was setup in under 10 mins. I'm not home for close to half of the month, so can hibernate my connection and probably get the plan for $65-70 per month.

      • Haha… I'm coming off my 6 months Origin deal too!

  • +5

    Waiting for superloop to follow.

    • Waiting for Leaptel.

      • +1

        September.

        • Waiting for September.

          • +2

@serpserpserp: Waiting for September and for any other ISP who follows.
Would love to see 500/50 plan for less than $75 per month.

    • +1

500/50 official release is in September.

    • +1

Apart from the standard speed tier upgrades I'd say it's unlikely as seems Exetel is the budget offering, Superloop for everything else.

  • +1

I've just signed up to Superloop (HFC) 1000/50 for $85 a month for first 6 months.

    • +3

30 day notice period to churn away.

      • Rip

  • +2

is it only $80 for a certain amount of months? doesnt say so anywhere so I assume its the normal price right?

    • +2

ongoing price but they can increase at any time with 30 days notice like any company but at the moment this looks to be the ongoing price

  • Can anyone in Melbourne confirm their latency? Especially inner north suburbs. With Superloop currently at 1000/50 and having no issues playing on FPS on Xbox networks but keen to switch to something cheaper if it works well.

    • +5

It's the same network, it will be identical.

    • +2

Exetel use Superloop's network and your latency is the same.

  • +3

Just a slightly early offering of the new normal speeds, I think the full speed upgrades are meant to come in September, so its only 1 month earlier. 500/50 is the replacement for the 100/20 plan

    • +4

500/50 official release is two and a half months away.

      • +17

Oh true, i forgot about august lmao

        • This made me chuckle out loud at my desk.

  • +1

    nice price for the speeds

  • Looks like Exetel dropped support for Opticomm plans after the rebranding - or is it just my address?

    • No more OptiComm.

Unfortunately, our internet plan is not available for this address. The good news is that our friends at Superloop offer a wide range of affordable internet plans that would suit your address.

      • +1

I am still connected on OptiComm network with Exetel. So maybe I am grandfathered.

        • +1

Yeah what I said above applies to new signups using OptiComm.

Existing Exetel OptiComm users get grandfathered. They may move you across to Superloop one day.

      • bummer

    • I am still connected on OptiComm network with Exetel. So maybe I am grandfathered.

When I enter my address in the link it says it's not available.

  • +17

Are they just front-running the nbn speed test changes in September whereby the 100/20 speed is going up to 500/50?

If so, it’s clever marketing - they’re probably copping the loss on the wholesale price now but will reap the rewards in a few months

    • I think you right, pure marketing genius @ Exetel.

  • Are referral codes compatible with signing up for this? When I use a random OZB one it says "Referral code is not belongs to One Plan service"

    • +4

You both need to be on the 500/50 plan.

Refer a friend to 'The One Plan', and when they sign up, you’ll both get $1 off your monthly bill, each month for as long as they stay connected. There is no limit to how many friends you can refer, so feel free to share with the group chat. However, if either of you decide to leave the ‘The One Plan’, the discount will be removed for both parties.

      • +6

        What a joke.

      • +1

That's crap. Was going to refer my neighbour to the 100/20 plan in prep for the tier upgrades but I'm on static IP so this new plan isn't an option for me unless I downgrade to CGNAT so guess there goes my referral discount.

    • +1

on the phone they told me th 500/50 plan is still in "trial" mode hence no changes, features or discounts are available.

  • I am confused… they only have one plan? I am on 1000mbps for $85 at southern. Probably won't swap for just $5 a month for half the speed.

    • +1

Do you need the full 1000Mbits? Or save $5/Mo and have the same upload speed.

  • +1

I’m kind of tempted to go from 50/20 $65/mth to this. Has anyone who isn’t a gamer done this and noticed a big difference?

    • +2

Gaming isn’t where you would notice the difference, mainly downloading and streaming (depending on platform too)

      • is 100mbps good enough for 4k streaming? youtube, netflix etc.

        • 25mbps is good enough for 4k streaming from those platforms. 50 to be leave some margin.

  • Can anyone tell me if Exetel use IPoE? can't get any accurate info in my 3 minute search

    • +2

      Edit, They do. Very competitive

  • Current exetel customer, i got tnis

Great news – your Exetel internet plan is getting a FREE speed upgrade to 500/50 Mbps from midnight, Sun 14 Sept! A short outage (up to 10 mins) may occur during the upgrade. No action needed – just enjoy the faster speeds! Team Exetel

    • What is your current speed? How much are you paying monthly?

      • Got the same. On 100/20 for $66/month for 6 months. Then I'll churn.

    • +3

Yes that’s the standard NBN upgrade

  • 500/50 feels like a good idea if all your devices are on 5GHz WiFi still, as my connection maxes around 400ish Mbps on my home network.

  • Good deal. Thanks OP!

Can't set future churn date. Signup says immediate churn so beware if you want to ride out your billing cycle.

  • +2

I guess no more speed boosts

    • +2

They still offer it for a $1 a day extra (you get to go up to 1000/50); its mentioned in the website towards the bottom part where the FAQs are.

    • Well technically you can boost to 1000/50 for $1 per day which is like a speed boost, just not free.

  • Has anyone had any trouble opting out of CGNAT?
I had no trouble getting Aussie Broadband to remove it when I asked.

    • shouldn't be a problem if you call technical team but its not a static IP.

    • I tried via chat and phone. Was told no option to turn off CGNAT and it’s a typo on the website and CIS…

      • That's a dealbreaker then. I will stay where I am then for now. I couldn't access anything when I was away from home when it was enabled.

      • with a lot of corporate software requiring a static IP for verification purposes when WFH - this is going to make it a no go for a fair amount of people

  • Is there any way to change as an existing extel user? Can't see the plan in myexetel under change plan options

    • +2

Yes, you have to download the Exetel app on your android / apple device to change to this plan and manage it, annoyingly enough. Also when you change plans it will take effect pretty much immediately, and supposedly credit the remaining unused days on your current plan later.

      • What happens to existing customers? I'm churning into them this Friday (50/20) and want my cashbackand don't want my price to go up

      • The current app has been updated and you can no longer speed change.

The older version of the app 12 hours ago has only the old plans listed and not the new 500/50 $80

        ☹️

I believe calling is the only way to change to the new plan as an existing customer.

        • Well. THats a PITA! I don’t want to actually talk to anyone, just want to tick a box and change it. I wonder if those of us unable to do that will be auto shifted to the new plan at $80/m come september or whenever it happens. Hope so. I’m up for $90 tomorrow, and I really would prefer it not to be ongoing.

          • @kyteflyer: If past experience is anything to go by, existing plans will continue as is.

      • Thanks figured out why it wasn't working. I had to update the app from the play store, was using an old version

        • Where do you see it in the new app? Only thing I have under Manage service is My service documents.

(I see they still haven't got biometrics right in the new app either..Just get "Biometrics failed. Please try again")

  • +1

Hmmm wonder what happens to Exetel SSBI connections, if anything

  • -2

Does anyone know if Telstra will follow?

    • +2

Telstra are increasing the cost of existing plans from today, haven't seen anything about this speed boost.

    • +8

If you’re with Telstra you might want to look at yourself first

    • September for Telstra.

  • I have a stack of speed boost days to use. It looks like the one plan no longer offers speed boost rather warp speed for $1/day that it's activated.

Wonder if this means existing speed boosts will be cancelled when moving to the new plan

    • Speed boosts are forfeited. In saying that the new plan is cheaper than current and faster than when i speed boost so no loss i guess

      • +1

        That’s not a option
The referral gives you a $1 a MONTH discount -not a day!

  • Can anyone recommend a good router. Basic use. For me to set up for my parents. Set and forget preferably

    • Just got a TP Link AX 5400 after doing a fair amount of research. Reasonable price, good reviews and setup was a breeze. Can't speak for long-term performance, but it's TP-Link I guess.
