nbn FTTP or HFC only.

Update: Exetel can organize the nbn FTTN/FTTC to FTTP upgrade (selected locations).

One Plan 500/50 $80/month ongoing (1000/100 for an extra $1/day)
Typical evening speed: 500/40Mbps
Unlimited Data
BYO router
Designed for 2-6 person households

Hibernate
Going on a holiday or taking a tech break? Dial your internet speed down and save $1 /day when you don’t need it—giving you peace of mind and extra savings while you’re offline.

Warp speed
For an additional $1/ day you can upgrade your internet speed up to 1000Mbps anytime you want. Need to download a big file in a hurry or binge watch a streaming series in 4K? Go for Warp Speed. TES: 860/85Mbps.

Cancelling Your Internet Service
Want to cancel your service? There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle. For example, if your cycle starts on the 1st and you cancel on the 14th, you'll be charged for the full month. Alternatively, you can choose to ride out the service until the end of the billing cycle.

Once you set your cancellation date, any Warp Speed fees or Hibernate credits from that cycle will be added to your final bill which can be paid via the app. After everything is processed, we’ll send you a receipt.

Payment Information
A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited from your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. Payments made by Credit card incur a 1% transaction fee. You can avoid this fee by selecting to pay via PayTo. This option is available in your Exetel app after order confirmation, under Payment and Invoices.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT) and IPv6

Currently, Exetel does not offer the option to provide a public IPv4 address or disable CG-NAT on our broadband plans, including the Exetel One internet plan. All new broadband services are provisioned with CG-NAT by default.

Exetel uses a dual stack setup, which means you get both IPv4 (via CG-NAT) and IPv6. Here’s what this means for you:

  • Your devices and services will work with both older (IPv4) and newer (IPv6) internet technologies.
  • IPv6 is ready for the future and supports modern websites, cloud services, and smart home devices.
  • Some online games and services may perform better or have lower latency with IPv6.

Most customers don’t need to do anything—your modem and devices usually support IPv6 automatically. If you want to check your IPv6 compatibility, you can visit the test-ipv6.com page.

IPv6 will be enabled by default on the plan shortly and retroactively applied to everyone who has taken up the plan. If you disconnect/reconnect you should be dual stack.

That is not normal. Ditch More.

      • They are saying something is wrong with my modem etc. it’s a good deal $89 for 1000/50 but I can’t get good speed.
Is there a way I can find out if everything is working properly at my end otherwise I’ll suffer the same problem with Exetel?

        • Use wired ethernet and check your speeds. It looks like network congestion from More's end.

          • @Twix: Thanks mate. Is there an online place to find out their service is having issues?

            • @justanick: It will just show outages.

              • @Twix: Is there a link to it? I can’t see any service outages but their speed is no where close to 1000/50 not even 50% download speed.

How is Exetel speed like? The last thing is joining Exetel and finding out their speed is so bad.

                • @justanick: Exetel use the Superloop network and should be more consistent.

Deco X25 is suitable for 500/50. It's possible your Deco X25 isn't capable of 800-950Mbps Wi-Fi and you may have to swap it for a TP-Link Deco with Wi-Fi 7.

                  • @Twix: Thank you so much for the info. I just went closer to my Deco x25 and did a Speedtest I got over 650Mbps. So it seems the problem is with my mesh Deco X25 capability.

I’m so confused now as I never saw this sort of speed and it’s just $89/m for me compared to Exetel $80 500/50. Our NBN device is in our bedroom and our QLED 85inch TV which we have is connected via Ethernet to the TV, PS5 is connected with Deco device number 2. I just did a wifi speed test and it’s coming to 170Mbps download. We live in a single story double brick house.

Given the Amazon prime and other sales going on it is worth upgrading my mesh routers as I need at least three devices as it needs to connect to my cameras? Plus I need fast transfer rates like 700Mbps or more from the network devices?

                    • @justanick: Look at the Deco BE65. Two may be enough depending on the home size and where you place the Deco's. The double bricks can affect the Wi-Fi speed a little bit. More can still be apart of the speed problem.

                      • @Twix: Wow they are so expensive 3 of them would cost me $848 in Amazon with 23% discount at the moment.
One Deco would go into our master bedroom where the NBN box and the other one will be near the TV in the living room. I’m not sure if this has enough power to go to the front to capture my Eufy cameras.
I’m not sure if I can even trade or sell my X25 3 mesh devices to raise the funds.

The other option is to move to Exetel and be happy with the 500/50 speed and let go of the More offer.

I can’t believe I’m at a stage where I need more bandwidth than the current wifi devices. When I bought the deco X25 I thought I’ll never need more bandwidth.

Just checking my house I only get 700++Mbps speed in my bedroom and moving away 12 metres I get 230 and then drops to 120Mbps.

                        • +1

                          @justanick: Deco BE25 is cheaper however it's dual band Wi-Fi 7 (missing 6GHz) vs Deco BE65 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 and 6GHz.

Deco BE25 is the BE5000 in this throughput test.

Option 1. 500/50 and get a couple more years out of the Deco X25.
Option 2. 500/50 and get the Deco BE25 or Deco BE65.
Option 3. 1000/50 (1000/100 soon) and get the Deco BE25 or Deco BE65.

                          • @Twix: Thank you so much. How much can I get BE25 for to say I got a bargain?
This explains why my internet always buffers playing HD Netflix movies or streaming services on my 85inch TV. I’m watching them in low resolution.
If I have one in the bedroom and the other at the end of the house which has brick walls can I get some decent speeds to take advantage of the 500/50Mbps? Current in max I get are 120-150Mbps where the TV unit is located.

                            • @justanick: Deco BE25 3-pack is $432. How you justify it as a bargain is up to you 😄

120-150Mbps is plenty for HD and 4K Netflix streaming. Netflix recommends 5Mbps or faster for HD and 15-25Mbps for 4K. Did your Netflix always buffer with Aussie BB and Superloop with the Deco X25?

                              • @Twix: Yep it did most of the time with my Deco X25 specially with Plex. But at the moment there’s no buffering and with Plex I’m watching the highest resolution the quality seems so good.
I think Exetel should be good too.

My issue is can Deco BE25 do better wifi internet transfer between the three devices? For example with X25 near the main device I’m getting 700Mbps and near TV I’m getting 150Mbps which is located 40 meters away. Device 3 near the garage only gets 90Mbps.

                                • +1

@justanick: Wi-Fi speeds should be better. Not much you can do but test it out.

                                  • @Twix: Thank you so so much mate. I’m now looking at either Deco BE25 or Deco BE65. Most likely aim for BE25.

I got Samsung QA85Q70CAWXXY which doesn’t appear to have wifi6. I have plugged an Ethernet cable to my X25. If I buy Deco BE25 do I have the same Ethernet setup?
Also which sort of Ethernet cable should I buy as I came to know the cables I have might not even support good speed. FYI I collected the Ethernet cables from various internet router boxes over the years.

                                    • +1

@justanick: Keep the same Ethernet setup. Ethernet cables normally have writing on them. Look for the words CAT5e or CAT6.

The normal size Cable Matters CAT6 Ethernet cables or the braided UGREEN CAT6 Ethernet cables from Amazon seem good.

                                      • @Twix: I found BE25 three pair for $266. Now looking for a coupon code to further get a discount.

                                        • @justanick: Where from?

Maybe do a price beat @ Officeworks.

                                          • @Twix: I know a friend who works in Jb hifi got employee discount.
I have added this to the cart on a special link. Do you think OW will honour it as often times they would like to go to the website to check the price?
My jb hifi forum thread was deleted here so not so sure if I’ll get a chance to apply a coupon code.

                                            • @justanick: Officeworks won't honour it. Can they get the BE65 for like $500?

                                              • @Twix: $500 will be a bit high for me. Do I get the BE65 two or the three pack? My house is single story double brick 4 bedrooms. The nbn box is in the main bedroom which is one extreme corner. TV room is in the end corner. There’s various outdoor cameras throughout the house. My X25 3 pack covers everything.

                                                • @justanick: Two may be enough. You could purchase three and sell one if you don't need it.

                                                  • @Twix: Update: I’m getting 2 for $406 and 3 for $536 plus I can get the $30 off hopefully.

What do you reckon mate for future proofing shall I buy the 3? Also, where can I sell the third one if I go that route? I also would like to sell X25. Facebook Marketplace and eBay are an option but flooded with scammers.

                                                    • +1

@justanick: Deco BE65 has 2.5GbE ports and Wi-Fi 7 tri-band. It's about as future proof as it gets. The question is if you need two or three for the Wi-Fi range.

Do a post in your local area FB marketplace group. Pickup from a public location like a police station. Cash only.

                                                      • @Twix: Deco BE65 one or two is the big question. I’ll probably do some blueprint of my house and get it checked by you. Two would be ok but three is bloody expensive.

I’m still debating if BE25 will be enough for my 1000/50Mbps internet across the main bedroom to the TV area.

  • Superloop will upgrade their speeds on 14 Sep, 2 months from now. I with last black Friday deal got offer to downgrade to 100 or 250 and get 500 or 750 when speed upgrade happens, $5 cheaper than this deal until my contract ends. If I don't bother with the $100 cashback and don't want to churn, it's an option.

Kogan currently has speed 100 for $65 for 6 months, which means $65 for speed 500 in Sep, will be the cheapest if it does so.

    • +1

Mate has $60 for six months for 100/20 plan.

  • +2

Exetel is not competitive enough for existing customers paying $99/mo only get a $5 discount

    • +1

you can sign up for this plan as a "New customer" to get the deal

  • Does anyone know if this plan will increase in cost after 6 months like their previous promos. I'm with ABB 100/20 and about to end my promo discount period. Can't decide whether to give Exetel One a try or go for leaptel who have a 12-month discount on their 100/20 plan that will get boosted in Sep.

    • this is not going up after 6 months like a promo, although theres nothing stopping exetel form just increasing it with 30 days notice. I assume this will happen next year july 1st

    • No contract is good as we can churn, while it can be bad as they can increase the price any time they want.

"Exetel does not offer the option to provide a public IPv4 address or disable CG-NAT"

I was planning to jump on board, but this is a deal breaker for me, unfortunately.

    • Have you thought whether you can use IPv6 as a workaround for your needs?

    • What do you do that requires no CG0NAT

      • Remote into my home network to access servers and security cameras, etc

Exetel has already told me it is unlikely they will work.. and they won't do a static ip

        • Tried Tailscale? Works well over CGNAT and no need to open any ports to the internet :)

          • -1

@internet-stranger: because it's an additional cost that should not be required :|

    • I was on their legacy plan with CGNAT turned off. Moved over to the One plan and CGNAT was back on again. I spoke with their support over the phone earlier today and they turned it back off immediately.

  • I was able to upgrade via the app the other day, after initial failure when the plan launched.

So turns out the tech support advice that I was unable to upgrade was BS.

    Baffling.

  • Use the online virtual assistant outside the normal working hours when you want to give a 30 days notice. You may need to reload the page once or twice to get the chat button. There's no waiting and Exetel will call you to confirm the cancellation.

    • +1

I thought there's no need for 30 days in advance cancellation?

There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle.

  • Since switiching to extel's Dynamic IP (previously on Static IP with another provider) I constantly getting drop out when using 5Ghz wifi, 2.4Ghz seems fine.
    Can anyone suggest possible cause?

  • Hi @gotyourback / Shopback,

I am tempted to switch today as I see the super long weekend sales for $145 between 12am-8pm. However I am still seeing the Shopback app is showing $85 cashback for Exetel instead.

Are you able to confirm quickly so that I can decide to make my move or not?

To note Topcashback is doing $100 so this will affect my decision.

  • -2

Damn I need cgnat off to operate home automation like my aircon and blinds.

  • +1

Switched from superloop 1000/50 for $110 to this. My speed on 1000/50 isn't too different tbh. Screenshot of my homeassistant server (over LAN) doing speedtest every hour. Cut over was at 10:30am. Imgur

Didn't realise CGNat was on and couldn't be turned off. Was pretty annoyed. Called them up to understand if I could switch over. During that time started to expierment with IPV6. They said they would call back about options to switch (never did) but over the day I was able to migrate my NAS, Home Assistant and all my docker containers over to IPV6 and access them over the internet. Wasn't super straightforward, at least not me who has never looked at IPv6 seriously before, but was able to get it done.

So i'll probably stay with exetel until i get my backback and potentially a better priced 1gb plan comes around.

  • +2

    Moved from Spintel to Exetel.

Speed was good for a few days.

Yesterday As soon as I started P2P downloading using a VPN (of course its gotta be Linux ISO's), speeds got throttled from 500 down to like 7 - 5 mbps.

Looks like they are still pulling the old throttle encrytped VPN connection, previously reported by ozbargainer nico8amy here > https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12650871/redir

This was during evening peak yesterday. I didnt totally realise what was happening, went through customer support who did the old ""lets do some troubleshooting, turn off router, what colour are lights on nbn box blah blah ", none of which helped.

Searched for Extel VPN throttle and came across nico8amy's comments previously.

Hopefully a heads-up to anyone else signing up.

  • +1

Connected in ten mins while sitting on the toilet

  • went from 50/20mbit > 500/50mbit in under 10mins from applying

Just needed to reboot my router :) Easy process!

  • +1

Fantastic speeds (everythings so much snappier), quick setup and a dollar off for doing the referel….good stuff.

  • Just remember, it's prepraid, so once you paid, there is no refund.
I forgot about cgnat and switched, found it, jumped to superloop same day, but 80$ are non refundable.

    • Yup. Finally got rid of the 30day notice :)
But yes, also no refunds on prepaid amounts, e.g. plan to leave 1-2 days before the end of the billing cycle.

  • $130 Cashback at TopCashback posted here.
