Exetel rebranding and simplifying their offering by the looks with only one plan

nbn FTTP or HFC only.

One Plan 500/50
Typical evening speed: 500/40Mbps
Unlimited Data
BYO router
Designed for 2-6 person households

Hibernate
Going on a holiday or taking a tech break? Dial your internet speed down and save $1 /day when you don’t need it—giving you peace of mind and extra savings while you’re offline.

Warp speed
For an additional $1/ day you can upgrade your internet speed up to 1000Mbps anytime you want. Need to download a big file in a hurry or binge watch a streaming series in 4K? Go for Warp Speed. TES: 811/42Mbps.

Cancelling Your Internet Service
Want to cancel your service? There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle. For example, if your cycle starts on the 1st and you cancel on the 14th, you'll be charged for the full month. Alternatively, you can choose to ride out the service until the end of the billing cycle.

Once you set your cancellation date, any Warp Speed fees or Hibernate credits from that cycle will be added to your final bill which can be paid via the app. After everything is processed, we’ll send you a receipt.

Payment Information
A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited from your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. Payments made by Credit card incur a 1% transaction fee. You can avoid this fee by selecting to pay via PayTo. This option is available in your Exetel app after order confirmation, under Payment and Invoices.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT) and IPv6

Currently, Exetel does not offer the option to provide a public IPv4 address or disable CG-NAT on our broadband plans, including the Exetel One internet plan. All new broadband services are provisioned with CG-NAT by default.

IPv6 will be enabled by default on the plan shortly and retroactively applied to everyone who has taken up the plan. If you disconnect/reconnect you should be dual stack.

For new Exetel services ordered after July 1, 2025, CG-NAT (Carrier-Grade NAT) with IPv4 is no longer used. Instead, all new services—including our broadband plans—are set up with IPv6 by default. This means you’ll get a native IPv6 address, and your devices will connect using IPv6.

If your device doesn’t support IPv6, it will still be able to connect to the internet using IPv4. Exetel’s network is designed to support both IPv6 and IPv4 (dual-stack), so devices that only understand IPv4 will continue to work as usual.

Static IP
A Static IP address is not available with these Exetel services.
If you are an existing Exetel customer with an existing Exetel static public IPv4 address you will retain this address.

        • To follow up, The rep on the phone checked it out while i was on hold for a while. He said to change plans I had to apply for a new service on the website and then email to cancel to old plan. I might wait a few days to see what happens before I do something that brash. Don't want to mess with Exetel that much due to their odd 30 day cancellation policy. Might also look at other options with other ISPs as they will appear.

  • I’m currently with TPG HFC 100/20, and it’s costing me $69. I’ve got the default modem, a Huawei HG659, and I’m using a DECO M5 wifi mesh to extend the network( access point. I was wondering if I could switch to this plan and ditch the Huawei modem. I’d like to plug the cable from the NBN box directly to the DECO M5 and use it as the main modem/router. All my devices are currently using the same password, and I’m worried about having to change it for all of them if I switch providers. If I do switch to Exetel, how can I set the same password for all my devices without having to enter it again? Any advice with this would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks a bunch! Also how long will it take to churn

    • +1

Yes, if you are eligible for The One plan, then you'll have FTTP or HFC NBN available, which both provide you with an Ethernet-based connection to their respective NTDs. You'll plug your DECO M5's WAN port straight into the fiber/HFC NTD that NBN provide.

    • +1

Yes you can use the M5, just switch the operation mode (settings, advanced) from access point to WiFi router. And go to WiFi settings and set the SSID and password to be the same as your Huawei and all devices will autoconnect.

    • +1

if you set up your deco to have the same ssid and password then you won't need to reconnect all your devices.

  • +1

Any users able to log into my.exetel.com.au?

After logging into the new site, it directs me to my.exetel to log in again and then It says something went wrong upon logging in again.

    • Same issue here

    • have exact same issue

i am both an exetel and superloop customer and i cannot log into either of their portals

  • I keep trying to upgrade in the app and just keep getting an error message at the end. May be getting overloaded by people currently

    • Same here

  • +2

Tempting - but just switched to Superloop 250/100 - Upload more precious to me.

    • I really wish they'd offer a 1000/100 plan. I want 100 up too but don't want to lose my 1000 down.

      • +1

        1000/100 is available from September.

        • +1

          nice, cheers

  • I’m currently on a 1000/50 plan with Exetel (I assume via superloop behind the scenes after I asked to exit to Leaptel). I don’t have any major issues with Exetel but wanted to try a faster plan for not much more at the time. They have let me know that it will go to 1000/100 with the September NBN changes for no cost. I might see how that goes with the better upload speed but I think I’m going to be tempted to drop to the 500/50 plan here and save quite a bit each month ($30).

    • Well if you have this 500/50 plan and do the $1/day speed upgrade you would be able to temporarily get the 100mbps upload speed if you don't use it everyday. That might be an option.

  • With the billing change does this mean if I switch I’ll instantly get charged?

So should I wait out my current period until I switch?

    • Apparently they're pro-rata refunding the difference when switching plans.

  • +3

Any existing customers having issue logging into my.exetel ?

    • Yes. Can't log in. Just got my latest bill yesterday $85 pm for 50/20 (HFC). I mean c'mon Exetel, just migrate every eligible existing customer over to 500/50 and tell them you're dropping the price to $80 pm.

  • +1

I switched from Exetel to Southern phone few days ago. Very good speeds. Better download ping as shown in speedtest.net. 100/20 soon to be 500/50 is only $65 for 12 months and you get $100 bill credit if you stay more than 3 months. Also a free router/modem if you stay for 12 months. I think this is a much better deal than Exetel. In Sydney and opted out of CG-NAT(Takes 5 minutes on chat).

Edit: Looks like the $100 bill credit expired yesterday, but still shows on their web page.

  • +1

Isn't it best to sign up for a cheaper 100/20 plans and enjoy the free NBN upgrade to 500/50 in September?

  • Buttttt ……… will this 500/50 now become something fatser in September? Or is Exetel trying to play games here and if you move to 500/50 now you're on it after the Sep NBN changes?

    • +1

I suspect they are front running the faster speed so this will be it and stay same September (ie. get some customers sooner vs rest of competition, and absorb the cost of your going a month early)

      • +1

NBN does not have this product for RSPs yet. It's likely the 1000/50 plan but Superloop limits your download speed to 500. So you are likely to see your speed exceed 500 occasionally.

      • +1

Yeah trying to jump the competition….. thats what I assumed.

    • +1

100/20 gets boosted to 500/50. Faster speed tiers will be available however it's up to the provider on what they sell. It looks like Exetel is 500/50 only and Superloop will sell 500/50 and faster speed tiers.

Old Speed Tiers New Speed Tiers nbn Technology Type
      100/20 500/50 FTTP and HFC
      250/25 750/50 FTTP and HFC
      1000/50 1000/100 FTTP and HFC
      2000/100 HFC
      2000/200 FTTP
      2000/500 FTTP
      • Yeah but given NBN aint selling 500/50 yet wholesale, as somebody above said looks like they are just trying to jump the comp and probably selling 1000/50 as 500/50 a couple months early with a speed cap of 500.

I was wondering if you bought their 500/50 now would it become 2000/100 or something in September.

        • Exetel stays at 500/50 unless you change provider to get 2000/100.

          • +1

@Twix: Yeah all good. Im on 100/20 now so I think i'll just hang out til Sep and get a freegrade to 500/50.

  • +2

Really struggling to justify staying with leaptel paying $109 for 1000/50. 500/50 would be perfectly fine.

    • Yeah I’m in same boat but with Exetel (they matched same plan and cost for Leaptel). It’s going to 1000/100 September for me so interested to see how the better upload speed goes but getting harder to justify price difference for 1000. I WFH but probably don’t take advantage of 1000 as much as l think

      • Exactly. I WFH 3 days a week and honestly dont notice any meaningful difference between 25/50 UP. But how stable that UP is varies between providers. Leaptel has been noticably faster and importantly more reliabale with international speeds compared to when i was on Superloop.

  • Great OP Thank you
Let me read through user experiences

  • +1

Looking to churn out from Superloop but seems that you can't select a specific date for the connection?

So you would need to give Superloop the 30 days notice and then apply a day or two before the end?

EDIT: Just called Superloop up to cancel, effective 31 July 2025. I guess I'll wait until a couple of days beforehand to see if there are any other better offers otherwise just signing up to Exetel.

    • +1

I'm in the same boat. Did they try to offer anything to retain you?

      • +3

About 5 various bundles, modems and discounts but they all ended up worse than the Exetel plan.

I told them I just wanted simplicity and not stuffing around with churning because of discounts expiring.
They spent a few minutes explaining how the 500/50 is an upgrade for 100/20 in September. Got them to look at the Exetel website and they responded with "Oh. We'll process your cancellation".

  • Great offer only downside is they do not offer IPV6 - wonder why as that wouldn't add cost for the ISP, right?

    • -1

      They do offer it

      • +1

It was mentioned in an earlier comment they do not offer IPV6 and I cannot find any references to IPV6 on their website.
Can you point out where IPV6 is mentioned? If that's indeed the case, do you opt-in for free or is there a monthly charge?

        • +2

Source: I'm with them now and test-ipv6.com results:
          10/10
Not paying any extra, just had to configure modem to enable ipv6. There should be more detail on whirlpool forum.

        • +2

Can also vouch for Exetel supporting IPv6. I'm with Exetel residentially, but also at a number of work sites on business plans, and all of them natively support IPv6 via prefix delegation.

  • -1

With optus offer I signed up on line and added my flybuys
Then they contected me telling the online order did not go through but they an signme up over the phone.
I have repeatedly told them i want the 16000 flybuy points.
I was assured that the flybuys will be added last. But they connected me on a plan which is exactly same except No flybuy points after 3 months.
Now I am escalating this with their resolutions team.
    Useless CS and resolutions team

    • +1

Most of thier CS reps do not even know what Flybuys is, They kept trying to convince me to sign up on the phone/chat and they pretend like they know what flybuys is, but when you ask them direct they admit they don't know.

So I refused to sign up on phone/chat and just re-submitted my order online and it went through.

btw, I think the flybuys deal had a min of 30K points not 16K.
the confirmation email I got for Everyday Fast (100/20) shows 30K points.

  • Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Exetel in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service.

Whats the benefit? Use it or not?

    • +3

If you're asking this question it likely won't effect you

    • Exetel use CG-NAT which works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, Plex server, NAS, servers or if you want to host online P2P games. When you turn off CG-NAT you will be able to use remote access and host online P2P games again. Leave CG-NAT turned on if you don't do any of this.

If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

      • CGNAT.

When Spintel switched to CGNAT, i have been prompted constantly with bot puzzles. No such issue since moving to dynamic IP ($5/month).

        Anyone else experiencing the same?

        • +1

I don't get captcha puzzles often with CG-NAT. It can happen with some websites.

          • @Twix: Carsales is blocked permanently.

Personally, CGNAT is a no go.

            • @SetTheFaqUp: I've noticed some others getting IP blocked by Carsales and apparently it's due to their DDOS protection provider. I don't have any problem accessing Carsales with CG-NAT.

  • +6

    WARNING!!!!!!!!

I moved to the Extel One 500/50 plan this morning because their website claims you can opt out of CG-NAT.
however after being connected when i contacted them they have advised CG-NAT cannot be turned off and their website is wrong………

    • “Exetel does not offer static IPs for One plan customers but if you have signed up prior to 01/07/2025 you can pay extra and get it on one of our legacy plans.” - https://support.exetel.com.au/support-hub-article/FeaturesOp…

      • Turning off CGNAT is different to requesting a static IP. If they turn off CGNAT, you get a dynamic IP.

        • Sure, I provided the closest relevant information from the Exetel website regarding CG-NAT. I can’t quote the absence of information regarding dynamic IP.

Might be worth flooding them with enquiries to encourage them to provide some helpful information. https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/exetel_faq_contact

    • +1

      Same boat.
CIS clearly states you can opt out of CGNAT but both chat and phone have said that’s a mistake and service is CGNAT only. No other choice.
Not happy. Now on the phone trying to get the month refunded.

      • -1

I wonder if some law firms would be interested.

      • Surely if the critical information summary, which is a legally binding document required by the ACCC, states that CGNAT can be opted out of, then they need to honor that. Otherwise, what is the point of the CIS? If they can just hand wave away any clause in the CIS as a "mistake", then it loses any meaning at all.

        • It does say “at exetels discretion” so it doesn’t guarantee they will…
Could they argued that due to technical limitations their discretion is to never allow it?

          • @internet-stranger: Sure, if they simply said "No, sorry it's not available for you, and that's our discretion", that would be one thing. But to state that it's a mistake in the CIS, and that's why they won't honor it, that's a totally different thing. You can't just wave away obligations in the CIS because it was a "mistake". It's like signing a contract with someone and then them saying "Oh, that clause was a mistake, sorry" - that's not how contracts work.

So, in summary, I agree that given the verbiage in their CIS they are within their rights to deny everyone a CGNAT opt-out, but they are using the wrong terminology to communicate that to customers, and that's potentially fraught with legal danger.

            • +1

@joshau: I agree and am just annoyed as many others.
              But…
In this case they offered a full refund.
So the fact there has been no financial impact there is very little to get them on.
I would see this falling under the ACCC goods or services not meeting what was promised.
A full refund is a valid remedy.

    • Time to go to the TIO….

    • +1

Interestingly they did it for me over the phone, but the service is awful with constant drop outs so I have to churn off, also trying to get a refund…

  • tried to sign up and got the below message:

    Service access blocked

Violations of our policies have been reported. Please call us on 13 39 38 if you would like to discuss.

  • If you change to the One Plan, your referral code also changes for anyone upgrading

  • -3

I pay that for gigabit on Superloop

    • $80 for 1000/40? I have been paying $99 and they offered that for an year.
Did you negotiate from $119 to 80?

      • +1

They might have got a referral for that price?
I got the Black Friday sale last year of 1000/50 for $89 for 12 months. Then had a fellow OzB use my referral code for an additional $10 off a month for 6 months. So I'm paying $79 for gigabit speeds

        • possible, on phone with them to give them a notice lol

  • I'm on a 25/10 plan with Exetel with a $10 retention discount for another 10 months. It was $54 a month but this month went to $59. I wonder what will happen to my plan come September? Will they force me onto the new plan and raise my price to $80? I'm happy to pay $59 and extra speed would be a bonus but I'm not willing to pay for it as the 25/10 meets my needs (gaming and Netflix).

Recently changed my parents to Flip for $39 a month fron Telstra and haven't noticed any difference.

    • 25/10 plan will stop being offered by NBN at some point

      • Source?

        • As of February the ACCAN urged them to phase it out in favour of 50/20 being the lowest tier within the next 5 years.

  • -2

Scammer, can not even login to My Exetel give 30 day notice, chat always ask you to wait for 10 minutes, 52 seconds

    • You have to call them

    • Yeah their shitty website shows this message "The portal is temporarily unavailable. Please log in using our mobile app".

Call them, I had to wait only a minute

  • +1

“Exetel does not offer static IPs for One plan customers but if you have signed up prior to 01/07/2025 you can pay extra and get it on one of our legacy plans.” - https://support.exetel.com.au/support-hub-article/FeaturesOp…

  • I'm FTTB so not eligible. No mention of FTTB improvements on the NBN co website, is it likely/possible to come eventually or is it a tech barrier?

  • Yet I’m paying $69 for 25/8 lol. I really need to churn to this I reckon.

    • +4

perfect price as per your nickname :)

  • I've never had a worse experience as an internet customer than with Exetel. Fair warning for anyone considering switching.

    • What was bad? Not saying your experience is wrong, just curious.

  • interesting - will have to wait till my 12 months with superloop is up!

  • +1

Great deal for new customers. I'm existing customer on 100/20 and received this message recently.

Hey! Great news – your Exetel internet plan is getting a FREE speed upgrade to 500/50 Mbps from midnight, Sun 14 Sept! A short outage (up to 10 mins) may occur during the upgrade. No action needed – just enjoy the faster speeds! Team Exetel

    • Good deal for existing customers that aren't on introductory rates too

  • +1

Not available to existing customers. I called them and their rep confirmed. Put in cancellation request :-(

    • I wonder if they will honour that with the new plans…

  • +5

    Just signed up,

    Can’t get out of CGNAT

So the CIS says can opt out. But the agent both online chat and phone has said it’s a mistake in the CIS and there is no option to opt out.

All new services will be CGNAT only with no ability to turn it off.

Very disappointed the CIS is incorrect and they won’t honour it.

    • +3

That is very misleading. you should be asking for compensation or early release from the plan.
CGNAT is primarily a cost-saving measure for ISPs and offers no benefits to users. It can also slow down your download or web browsing speeds during peak hours, as performing network address translation simultaneously for thousands of users can overload the routers.

      • +2

They offered full refund. So no issues there.
Just disappointed. Looked like a good deal :)

      • +1

CG-NAT can also cause issues like not able to access websites if your shared IP address is considered bad, or streaming platforms think you are accessing service from same IP simultaneously (I know about this one as family member had issues with Binge until they opted out of CG-NAT)

  • +1

Existing customer here. My cancellation was due to take effect on 5th July until I saw this. I called them and wanted to undo my cancellation and move to the new plan and I specifically checked with them that my static IP will remain, but I was told that the new plan is CG-NAT or dynamic public IP only :(. I ended the call with no further action to hopefully get more info on the experience from other existing customers here on OzBargain who have been able to transfer and keep their static IP. Any comments or feedback on this is much appreciated.

Update, looks like others have also gotten the same response regarding CG-NAT when trying to sign up.

    • They won't even give me the damn dynamic IP

  • This just looks like they're applying the speed upgrade earlier than the competition. Been trying to figure out how to get my CCTV to connect to a CGNAT network. May just wait until More apply the speed upgrade in September.

    https://www.nbnco.com.au/corporate-information/media-centre/…

    • Hi mate - Im with More too. Is there any comm from More that we're getting speed upgraded in Sep?

  • +2

I am trying to get them to confirm if Opting Out of CG-NAT is no longer applicable to only the new 500/50 plans on offer or if you can still Opt Out for free if you happen to sign up to the old plans before they rolled out this new one.

I signed up to 100/20 previously with activation date around middle of July.

UPDATE: They have told me since I joined prior to the rollout of the new 500/50 only plans, I would be eligible to Opt Out of CG-NAT for no cost.
