Exetel rebranding and simplifying their offering by the looks with only one plan

nbn FTTP or HFC only.

One Plan 500/50
Typical evening speed: 500/40Mbps
Unlimited Data
BYO router
Designed for 2-6 person households

Hibernate
Going on a holiday or taking a tech break? Dial your internet speed down and save $1 /day when you don’t need it—giving you peace of mind and extra savings while you’re offline.

Warp speed
For an additional $1/ day you can upgrade your internet speed up to 1000Mbps anytime you want. Need to download a big file in a hurry or binge watch a streaming series in 4K? Go for Warp Speed. TES: 811/42Mbps.

Cancelling Your Internet Service
Want to cancel your service? There’s no need to give us 30 days’ notice – though you’ll be charged for the rest of the billing cycle. For example, if your cycle starts on the 1st and you cancel on the 14th, you'll be charged for the full month. Alternatively, you can choose to ride out the service until the end of the billing cycle.

Once you set your cancellation date, any Warp Speed fees or Hibernate credits from that cycle will be added to your final bill which can be paid via the app. After everything is processed, we’ll send you a receipt.

Payment Information
A payment verification charge of $1 may be debited from your account at the time of sale. This will be credited back to you on your first invoice. Payments made by Credit card incur a 1% transaction fee. You can avoid this fee by selecting to pay via PayTo. This option is available in your Exetel app after order confirmation, under Payment and Invoices.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT)
Where CGNAT is available, your IP address will default to using CGNAT, unless you specifically request to opt out of CGNAT, which may be approved by Exetel in its discretion. When opting out of CGNAT, a dynamic public IP address will be assigned to the service.

Currently, Exetel does not offer the option to provide a public IPv4 address or disable CG-NAT on our broadband plans, including the Exetel One internet plan. All new broadband services are provisioned with CG-NAT by default.

If a public IP address is essential for your needs, you may want to consider other providers that offer this feature.

Static IP
A Static IP address is not available with these Exetel services.
If you are an existing Exetel customer with an existing Exetel static public IPv4 address you will retain this address.

      • Yes, please hold off with the cashback deal for now.

Exetel is no longer listed on TopCashback for the moment. The rep TA is looking into it with Exetel and any updates will be shared once he has more info.

  • What’s the process going from one ISP to another? Is it an instant cutover? Can you sign up to a new ISP and then cancel the old to avoid any outage?

    • If it's FTTP, usually connected/switched over within a few minutes of ordering.

  • It all makes sense now. Superloop recently jacked up my 100/20 price to $95 but offered me a lock in 24month price of $89 all the while knowing the September changes were coming I see what they were doing there, dirty so and so's! -

    • If you're on fttp/hfc you'll get the upgrade to 500/50 as well.

And if you're not on fttp/hfc, it doesn't apply you to doesn't sound like any dirty tricks…

  • Dumb question, how do we achieve 500mbps speed wifi ? I have Telstra router smartmodem 3 (connected via cable to nbn box) and Tenda MW3. Do I need to change the mesh wifi ? Or will Telstra one enough ? Thanks

    • I'm not sure about Wifi 7 but Wifi 5/6 you won't get the full 500mbps. My wireless devices (tested iPhone 16 Pro and MacBook Pro M1) get about 300mbps.

Even with wifi mesh Wifi 7 you still need devices compatible with that. I'm running Eero 6+ satellites and my Xbox Series X is plugged into the backhaul on one of the Eero 6+ wireless satellites and is still managing 500+ mbps.

      • 500Mbps Wi-Fi is possible with a router that has Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6.

        Select Wi-Fi 6 router can do 900-1000Mbps.

        • +1

Happy to be corrected, just going based on my personal/practical experiences. Anything wired directly to mesh satellites are getting full 500. My wireless devices are capping at around 300mbps.

          • @sghetti: Thanks

          • @sghetti: All good. eero 7 or eero Pro 7 may give you faster Wi-Fi results.

          • @sghetti: I've got no problem getting >500 wifi down on eero 6+

      • Thanks

    • 500Mbps Wi-Fi is achievable if your router and device support 5GHz. Telstra smart modem gen 3 is capable of 500Mbps Wi-Fi. Tenda MW3 only has 100M ports and needs to be replaced. Is Telstra your nbn provider?

      • +1

Thanks, I am currently with Optus (due to Shopback Promo) and will move on soon.

        • Purchase a new mesh router setup that replaces both the Telstra SMG3 and Tenda MW3.

    • I am able to achieve > 800Mbps on wifi6 under good conditions such as using 5Ghz, 160Mhz DFS channel, you are not that far from the access point and not in a densely populated area such as apartments with a lot of wifi signal. Tested using iPerf v3 on gigabit LAN, Asus RT-AX86U router and wifi6 devices Samsung S21 Ultra, MSI prestige 14, Surface Pro 8, MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro. Easily achieve >900mbps with router in the room next door, at this point, it's the gigabit LAN that is the bottle neck. Able to do Windows file transfer up to 190MB/s ~ 1520mbps on Wifi6 with 2.5Gbps LAN under same good condition.

      Moving further away I'm still getting > 500mbps but < 600mbps. YMMW.

Only issue is 160Mhz DFS channel will automatically downgrade to 80Mhz if radar signal is detected. When this happen, then it's around 400mbps wifi6. A router restart is usually required to get 160Mhz again. Please don't use more channels if you're in a crowded wifi area as to not annoy your neighbours or use a less noisy channel. HTH.

      • Thanks

Any existing customer able to upgrade successfully? I'm currently getting errors

    • I called them since I couldn't do it online. They asked me to sign up to the new service using https://www.exetel.com.au/broadband/nbn Then in the cancel existing service use information from your last invoice. I got an email immediately about cancellation of my existing service and another email with new service activation (with new customer ID). The only issue is I am charged full amount 1 month in advance and there is no message or email about refunding the balance for unused period on the old service.

      • +1

You will have to chase them up about refunding the balance.

  • I am an existing customer When will this happen?, I still have access to opt out of CG-NAT via My Exetel should I do it now before we a put on the one plan?

    • September.

      • Oh OK I thought it was getting implemented earlier.

        • Only if you make the change yourself.

          • @Twix: I'm paying $80/month for 100/20 anyway may as well upgrade now?

            • +1

@kummo: If you're not in need to opt out of CGNAT yes

    • how to opt out of CG-NAT?

      • cannot be done on these newly released 500/50 plans, only those on legacy plans prior to 01/07/2025

        https://support.exetel.com.au/support-hub-article/FeaturesOp…

(seems they intended to do away with the opt out feature with the rollout of their app and new platform)

        • Yes you can..

You can't have a Static IP but they have stated you can request to opt out of CGNat and they will assess each case.

In which case you will get a dynamic IP

This is according to their CIS terms on their website..

If they are back tracking on this then the plan is dead in the water for a fair chunk of users

          • +1

@Megahowler: Comments earlier said they were told they couldn't opt out of CGNAT on this plan. All very confusing. They may have jumped the gun a little on this one.

            • @bamzero: Well that will be an interesting one.. as their own terms state you can

          • +1

@Megahowler: Just called - they said it's not possible to even get a dynamic IP address on this new plan.

If you wait until the automatic upgrade then the dynamic IP will continue

            • @Che0063: I'm guessing by that you mean wait until September when NBN upgrades the tiers, not that they'll automatically switch users to the new plan?

  • +3

No CG-NAT opt out a dealbreaker. So I can't use Blueiris, Home Assistant, Plex or use vnc server to remote desktop.

    • +1

id say less then 2% of households need to opt out of CG-NAT. I would also assume by not offering opt out it keeps the heavy users off the network

  • Does CG-NAT have any noticeable impact on online gaming?

    • Your latency may increase a few milliseconds and you can't host online P2P games with CG-NAT on. Otherwise it's fine.

    • not that you will notice at all. 2ms maximum

  • Cheers, OP. My existing exetel 100/20 plan is increasing to 90/month next week so great timing!

Old web login does not work anymore. I had to update the Android exetel app and change the plan from there. Had a couple of errors initially on the final stage but worked fine after closing and re-opening the app.

Just tested and the one plan is now active. :)

    • Did you get to keep your dynamic IP (non CG-NAT) when you upgraded to the new plan?

      • I haven't checked so I'm not sure.

        • Let me know when you do, curious if you are able to retain dynamic IP when migrating from legacy to new plans.

Otherwise, I am going to wait until the automatic speed upgrade in September and hopefully it remains.

        • Please let me know as well.

Log into your router and look for its WAN/Internet IP address. If it's any of the following, then your router doesn't have a public IP address.

          192.168.x.x

          10.x.x.x

          172.16.x.x through 172.31.x.x

          100.64.x.x through 100.127.x.x

    • where on the app do you see the upgrade section? Mo the chatbot recons if you are on a legacy plan you cannot do it from the app. Did you do it via chat agent?

      • i can't find it either

      • I had an old exetel app which I had to update in google play. When I tapped my services, the option to change to oneplan is there. No chat agent.

    • Does this include a $10/month loyalty discount? Website shows 100/20 plan as $95/mth (so I'm assuming $100/month, less a $10/month loyalty discount for you)?

I'm interested because my 100/40 plan is $99 (minus my $10/month loyalty), which will be updating to 500/50 in Sep, so I'm thinking they are getting all the pricing aligned before both of these two plans are essentially the same?

  • I switched from tpgs 100/18 plan to this. So far so good. Getting the advertised speeds. Was having an issue connecting my mesh nodes at first but after resetting each one was able to connect 👍 so far app is looking better than tpgs.

However, they mentioned over the phone that soon they will not have a mobile (only live chat) if that is important to anyone.

    Thanks for posting this

  • Trying to upgrade on the app, I added a credit card and keep getting "payment method nonce with idtoken….."

Tried also to setup with BSB/Acc# and my bank app is denying the request "for security reasons".

  • I don't seem to be getting an option to get connected for a future date.

Is that not possible? Just gave a 30 days notice to Superloop.

  • +2

CGNAT kills the deal for me.
Had to contact Tangerine to turn it off as it's giving me grief with websites not loading.
Once turned off, all back to normal.

  • We use exetel at work, but they seem to have such frequent 'planned maintenance' between 1am and 4am (which is fine for work), that I think it would be quite annoying for home internet. My home internet is barely ever down for maintenance. I use internet at that time at home

    • in fairness im with Leaptel and seem to get these once every 2 months.

  • +2

I'm having awful service, drop outs several times an hour, the call center won't talk to me and the live chat agent are terrible. Trying to get confirmation they are going to refund me so I can churn back to ABB. This is the worst NBN experience I've ever had.

    • Was too with me. Very slow and unable to fix the issue. Blaming my modem. Switched to another provider, worked fine.

    • let me know if you can successfully get a refund - I spent about an hour trying with no luck.

      • +1

I got it, took an hour on the phone after asking countless times in the live chat with no success

    • +1

Now that I've moved off connection has been stable with Buddy.

  • the call center won't talk to me and the live chat agent are terrible

    I lol'ed.

  • asus rt-ax82u router.

    Download Mbps
    212.28
    Upload Mbps
    47.27

    • RT-AX82U can do 500Mbps. Is that over Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet?

      • +1

tested on iphone 15, 15 pro max , desktop, ipad …..with 5g wifi.

I guees it's the router issues

        Probloem solved,, disable Qos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • +1

Yeah disable Asus QoS. What 5GHz Wi-Fi speed do you get now?

  • Yeah i can't do it.

    Existing customers for 3 years.

Call up support it's overseas and they have no idea. They keep saying change it online. I can't. Sends me into an endless loop of login, code etc

    • +1

How? I called they tell me to sign up new plan.
I use the chat and they said I can’t upgrade due to pppoe issue with my account.

    • Yep, I just signed up for the new plan - myself also an existing customer. Don't login - sign up as a new customer. I used the same email and phone number as my old plan and it worked.

They also automatically cancelled the old plan.

      • on the signup form part did you have to enter the AVC id and NTD number?

        • I entered in the AVC ID

          • @mastablasta: Thanks cuz. I'm gonna do the same now. My next bill is in 5 days. Did they mention any downtime or a need to log into the router with a new password, or will you be billed twice?

            • @johnnyg: Within a few minutes of signing up, I received emails that my new connection was active, and that my old connection was disconnected.

I will need to chase them myself to get a pro rata refund for the unused portion of my old service.

My old connection was pppoe, and the new one is dynamic IP (that's what TP-Link calls it), so I just had to change that setting in my router and I got connected.

  • +1

    Ported from Optus to Exetel.

Automatically flipped over in less than 5 minutes without any additional setup in my router.

Getting 526/48 speeds. Thanks for the deal OP!

  • lol ad says "new and existing" customers. Support just told me i can't get it if it can't add it on the website or app

  • +2

    No CGNAT opt-out, no deal.

CGNAT causes all sorts of frustrating issues in all but the most basic usage of the internet service. I'm sad to see this is becoming standard.

    • Yea - moved to Spintel and found that none of the forwarded ports works and a lot of different issues. Switched online from CGNAT to Public IP for 2$ a month and everything fixed. CGNAT - no go.

      • Same here. The question is, was it CG-NAT or was it Spintel? @Twix suggested it was Spintel's POI location in Sydney and likely not CG-NAT ( I live in Melbourne). I would be hesitant to test CG-NAT elsewhere, but this price and does is tempting. Having said that, when the speed tier increase in September, my speed should be higher with Spintel, at about the same price point.

        • I was talking about your router dropouts and webpages not loading which shouldn't be affected by CG-NAT. Spintel's Sydney POP location is a different problem that can give you higher latency in game.

CG-NAT can break port forwarding. Turn off CG-NAT if you need to do port forwarding.

Most providers let you turn off CG-NAT for $0. Another way to turn off CG-NAT is to pay $5/month for a Static IP.

          • +1

@Twix: Okay, thanks for the clarification. I did experience slightly higher latency on CG-NAT via Spintel but it wasn't that concerning.

            I wasn't port forwarding either.

Spintel's troubleshooters couldn't find the solution as to why I was experiencing dropouts after several lengthy discussions, so after doing some reading I asked them to switch me to a dynamic address which instantly rectified my online experience leading me to believe that CG-NAT was the culprit.

  • Just called support, they said existing customers need to sign up as a new service and they will automatically cancel old service and start this new plan

    • I received a slightly different answer when calling support. They said after signing up for a new service, I would have to cancel the old service myself.

EDIT: Well I just signed up, and they have automatically cancelled my old service. Having said that, I think I still need to ring them about getting back some sort of refund for the unused part of the old service.

  • Can confirm the new referrals work. Signed up my in-laws and can see $1 months discount on their bill.

  • I was with Exetel last year and I was quite satisfied with them. Today, I tried signing up using my existing account with them; however, for some reason, it threw the "Service Access is Blocked" error. I rang their customer support, who were pretty much useless, and I gave up on them. I finally signed up using another email address, and the connection was migrated instantly. All I had to do was reboot the modem to notice the change from 250/20 to 500/50. The speedtest results were quite impressive at 511/51.

I contacted their customer support, requesting to opt out of CGNAT. Surprisingly enough, they acknowledged and raised a support ticket. I will just have to wait and see. Overall, the migration was pretty seamless.

    • Wow. That’s promising…. Maybe they heard all the calls to opt out and are thinking of allowing it.

    • did you phone call them or contact via live chat? If by phone, which department did you go through? eg. tech support, new service, billing?

      • I called them and used the new service prompt.

        • I went through new service too, but they said its for tech support to do so they transferred me to tech support but it was Superloop tech support. They said they can't help exetel customer so I gave up lol

    • +1

Any update on this? The CGNAT apparently being mandatory is throwing me off this deal

      • +2

It is indeed mandatory. CIS has been updated and my ticket was closed:

Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation is a method of sharing a single unique public Internet Protocol (IP) address with multiple customer internet services. This allows internet providers to extend their pool of remaining Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) addresses. There is no option to opt out of CGNAT.

  • +2

I couldnt change from the app even though it says i'm eligible. I contacted Exetel and they said "Apologies, your service is based on NBN PPPoE. PPPoE services are not eligible to switch to the Oneplan at this point unfortunately. Your service technology is FTTP but the authentication type is PPPoE unfortunately. That's basically your service using an exetel provided username and password configured on the modem,"
Not sure what that means, any ideas? I'm on FTTP

    • Means you are on pre-Superloop Exetel plan.
You would need to “move” over like a new service.

      • So I gotta churn out to another provider then come back?
